University Research Co., LLC Holds Open House to Celebrate 40th Anniversary

Over 200 guests helped University Research Co., LLC celebrate its past, present, and future with an open house on October 26, 2005 at the company’s Bethesda, MD, headquarters. For 40 years, URC has helped government and private sector clients to design, operate, and evaluate programs that address health, social, and educational needs.

Washington D. C. (PRWEB) October 30, 2005

Over 200 guests helped University Research Co., LLC celebrate its past, present, and future with a luncheon and open house on October 26, 2005. The event was held at the company’s Bethesda, MD, headquarters and was attended by current and former officers, partners, clients, and staff.

University Research Corporation (URC) was established in 1965 as a company specializing in professional training and research services. For 40 years, URC has helped government and private sector clients to design, operate, and evaluate programs that address health, social, and educational needs. With its non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services, URC works in the United States and abroad on projects that span five core practice areas: Communications & Outreach; Education & Training; Health & Population; Quality Management; and Research & Evaluation.

Since its inception, URC has proven its ability to assemble and allocate resources; organize and harness the ingenuity of people; and strengthen health, educational, and social services on a global scale. Through these 40 years, URC’s employees have played a vital role in providing leadership, programs, research, and projects which has transformed it from a small company to the technologically innovative, state-of-the art corporation it is today.

At the reception in Bethesda, URC’s Chairman, Melvyn Estrin, recalled the beginnings of the organization that brought together talented people to address the social issues of the 1960s and 70s such as model cities, head start, alcohol and drug abuse, and hospital modernization.

“This is an organization that makes a difference in people’s lives.” Former officers recounted the transition into international work particularly in health and quality assurance.

President Barbara Turner told attendees "The activities of the past 40 years provide a good base for our future. We look forward to continuing this very important alliance with our public and private partners as we strive to apply creative solutions to social needs in the U. S. and around the world.”

Mr. Arnold Trebach and Dr. Hyman H. Frankel, two of URC’s founders (the third, Dr. Jacob Fishman, has since passed away) described how the company’s roots were founded in both idealism and pragmatism. Dr. Frankel noted that the founders were looking to redirect their energies “after a sad time” that followed the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Mr. Trebach said that the company was founded as an “organization that would combine the idealistic philosophy of the early 1960s with the practical aspects of operating a profitable corporation.” Today, 40 years later, he observed, at URC, idealism continues to work in harmony with pragmatism.

Celebrating a company’s anniversary is easy; managing people and resources successfully for 40 years is an accomplishment worth commemorating.
