DeepRoot, a leading provider of sustainable products for urban landscape management, announced today that its Silva Cell has been recognized by Environmental Design & Construction magazine. The editors independently honored the Silva Cell as one of their Top 15 “Green Building Product Awards” for 2009.

Each year, ED+C honors products that generate the most interest among readers, especially those with technologies related to water-conservation. Regarding Silva Cell, the magazine writes the system “makes simultaneous on-site biofiltration (of rainwater) and healthy tree growth possible” in often challenging urban environments.

The endorsement is the latest in a series for Silva Cell. The product has been recognized as a “Top 10” environmental product contributor in 2009 by both Architectural Record and BuildingGreen magazines. The Washington State Department of Ecology also designated Silva Cell as “functionally equivalent to a rain garden”, effectively clearing its use by contractors and engineers at project sites throughout the Pacific Northwest.

As DeepRoot’s patented flagship product, Silva Cell, is made of an ultra high-strength compound of glass-reinforced polypropylene that meets H-20 loading standards. Each individual cell unit is composed of a frame which can be stacked up to three units high before being topped with a deck, creating a nutrient-rich soil volume (92% void space) that allows for maximum tree root growth and stormwater treatment, while accommodating surrounding utilities.

Healthcare Can Now Get Faster, Better and Cheaper Authoritative Data Using International Standards for Data Quality and Cataloging at Source (C@S)

The new ECCMA Health Care Industry Content Standardization Council, leading data quality experts and companies offering data quality software and services will be presenting at the ECCMA 10th Annual Data Quality Conference to be held in Bethlehem, PA (October 27th -29th 2009).

Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) September 21, 2009

The new ECCMA Health Care Industry Content Standardization Council, leading data quality experts and companies offering data quality software and services will be presenting at the ECCMA 10th Annual Data Quality Conference to be held in Bethlehem, PA (October 27th -29th 2009).

The health care industry is facing increased pressure to streamline operations and deliver savings. Beyond the management of patient records, hospitals and health care facilities are expected to be able to manage and report accurately on their costs. This requires faster, better and cheaper access to authoritative data; data required for the safe and efficient operation of their facilities. ISO 8000-110:2008 is a new international standard for master data quality which provides the framework for measuring data quality, the first step in improving data quality. By using the new standard, it is now possible to request or require that suppliers and trading partners provide quality data, this is cataloging at source (C@S).

The frustration and cost of avoidable delays and mistakes caused by poor data quality impacts all aspects of business, such as design, procurement, operations and management. Solving the problem starts with the ability to measure data quality. An International Standard for master data quality, ISO TS/8000-110:2008, was created at the request of the U. S. Department of Defense and members of NATO logistics with the support of industry experts from twenty-two countries. The standard covers the fundamental quality of data contained in its syntactic and semantic encoding as well as fitness for purpose, qualities that are at the heart of data portability, long-term data preservation, data integration and cataloging at source (C@S).

Commenting on the need for quality data in the health care industry was Dr. Salomon de Jager, the CEO of PiLog, a leader in providing data quality solutions stated, "The primary purpose of a managed procurement and inventory environment is to provide the goods and services required for the safe and efficient operation of a facility, in a timely and cost effective manner. Determining if the item will be a direct purchase or an inventoried item, establishing a reliable source of supply, obtaining the best price and timely delivery is a considerable challenge that requires good information. In a complex production environment very few in the supply chain ever see the objects themselves and instead they must rely on descriptions. These descriptions must not only accurately identify the items but must also describe them in a way that they can be easily found, differentiated and grouped for management and analysis.

The PiLog Content Quality Manager (PiLog-CQM) creates a managed environment for maintaining data quality by providing a simple work flow that facilitates the development of suitable descriptions for both operations, procurement and spend analysis. PiLog-CQM is designed to provide a high level of Item Entry Control (IEC) to improve item identification and reduce item duplication."
PiLog representatives will be among the companies and data quality experts providing data quality and data cleaning software and service solutions presenting at ECCMA's 10th Annual Conference to be held October 27th-29th, 2009 at the historic Hotel Bethlehem in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Please visit www. ECCMA. org for more information registration details.

The Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA) www. eccma. org is an international not for profit membership association founded in 1999 with mission to research, develop and promote better quality data for use in electronic commerce. Wayne Homes Goes All Out For Charities

Wayne Homes Goes All Out For Charities

In a year like 2009, when it seemed that everybody was struggling just to make ends meet, you might expect charitable giving to sag. At Wayne Homes, the giving kept right on going. The company's Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness program has another big year.

(PRWEB) January 30, 2010

In a year like 2009, when it seemed that everybody was struggling just to make ends meet, you might expect charitable giving to sag. At Wayne Homes, the giving kept right on going.

“When times are tough, it’s harder to give,” says JoAnn McClaskey of Wayne Homes. “But that’s when giving is even more important.” Every year, Wayne Homes coordinates a variety of charitable activities, which the company calls Not-So-Random Acts of Kindness. Everyone is encouraged to participate: employees, customers, suppliers and the general public.

“Thanks to everybody pitching in, we were able to give about as much in 2009 as we did in 2008,” says McClaskey, who helped to spearhead this year’s effort.

Spreading the wealth
Instead of simply writing a single corporate check to a single organization, Wayne Homes tries to get a lot of people to contribute to a lot of local charities. “There are so many groups that are trying to help their communities, and we really want to spread the wealth” McClaskey says. “Besides, it feels good to give. Why not let more people experience that feeling?”

The company turns its model home centers into donation drop-off points, where the public can bring clothing, food and other items. This year, donations were distributed to eight different organizations in Ohio and Pittsburgh. And in some cases, the gifts couldn’t have come at a better time.

Take the YES Club in Newark, OH. It’s an after-school program that provides healthy meals and other needed services to local underprivileged teens. Like many non-profit organizations, the YES Club has been hit hard by the economy. So hard, in fact, that YES Club director Vee Hottle was beginning to bring in her own leftovers for the teens. And that’s about the time the Club received a delivery: bags of food and toiletries — as well as a $500 check — from the Newark division of Wayne Homes.

Charity as a contact sport
At Wayne Homes, giving back to the community is an idea that’s woven throughout the company. Employees are given paid time off for community service projects. Suppliers, such as appliance and floor covering vendors, are actively encouraged to get involved. And since Wayne Homes contributes $100 for every home sold between Thanksgiving and the end of the year, even customers get to join the act.

But the company does something else to inspire employees to give back. They make it a competition. Six different teams go head to head, trying to raise the most money. They hold bake sales. They conduct silent auctions. And in this battle for charitable superiority, a dynasty has arisen. “The estimating department always wins,” McClaskey says. “They auction off little projects around the house, like painting, spreading mulch and replacing windows. People eat it up. So the estimators are the reigning champions.”

Homebuilding becomes hope building
Most people around Akron, OH, know about Casey Miller, the Akron teen who one day last year suddenly became paralyzed from the chest down. The community rallied around Casey, raising money to help with medical bills and working to make Casey’s home more wheelchair compatible. The Akron Fire Department built a ramp on the front of the house. And with help from its trade partners, Wayne Homes created a wheelchair-accessible addition to the home and installed a lift that lets Casey go down to a basement family room and therapy room.

“It was wonderful, being able to help out with what we do best,” McClaskey says. “When you give, you begin to understand how important the little things are. Like a good meal. A warm jacket. Or a nice home. It’s not a burden to give these things. It’s a privilege.”

About Wayne Homes
The task of constructing a home from the ground up is made less daunting thanks to Wayne Homes’ four decades of experience, streamlined process and exceptional personal service. Available in North America, Central and Latin America, the new Liebert XDS server cooling system from Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, brings refrigerant-based cooling directly to the server with a revolutionary technology that eliminates both cooling system and server fans. The result is silent, highly energy efficient cooling that exceeds the performance of the best cooling means on the market.

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) October 26, 2010

With data center cooling system energy consumption becoming as critical as maintaining reliable cooling for high density IT equipment, direct server cooling technology can deliver on flexibility, reliability and high energy efficiency.

Next Stage in Evolution of Data Center Cooling:

Emerson Network Power has been leading the industry movement toward high-density cooling since the introduction in 2003 of the Liebert XD system, which brought high-efficiency cooling to racks. More recently, the organization pioneered intelligent cold aisle containment and, in 2009, introduced the Liebert XDR rear door heat exchanger, which eliminated cooling system fans by using server fans to provide airflow through the rack.

Now, with the Liebert XDS, neither server nor cooling fans are required. The Liebert XDS consists of a standard-sized IT rack equipped with patent-pending cold plate server cooling technology from Emerson's technology partner, Clustered Systems. The cooling plates are configured to use refrigerant supplied by a Liebert XDP refrigerant pumping unit.

Heat generated by the server is transferred through heat risers to the server housing, then through the thermal interface material lining the cover, and finally transferred to a cooling plate, which uses refrigerant-filled microchannel tubing to absorb the heat, eliminating the need to expel air from the rack and into the data center. The system cools a full range of rack capacities up to 40 kW and saves a projected 80 percent over room-based cooling system costs.

Industry "Chill Off" Results: Most Energy-Efficient Solution Tested:

During recent independent testing by Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, the Liebert XDS was named the most energy-efficient solution tested, effectively winning the Chill-Off 2 event. Organized by Data Center Pulse and sponsored by Silicon Valley Leadership Group, the event tested the energy efficiency of vendor cooling products in the same data center environment.

Test results showed the product uses significantly less energy than current cooling systems employed today. As part of its performance during the test, it improved energy efficiency by 14 percent compared to current industry-leading refrigerant-based products involved in the test. In fact, the amount of energy saved by the removal of the server fans can be greater than the total amount of energy it takes to power the Liebert XDS.

Test results point out four key energy efficiency advantages of the Liebert XDS:
1. Energy is saved because server chassis-level fans can be removed.
2. Fans to move the hot server exhaust air through heat exchangers are eliminated.
3. Cooling fluid pumping energy at the rack is minimized because the liquid refrigerant pressure drop is less than water.
4. Warmer chilled water temperatures can be used, allowing significant energy savings. The possibility also exists to eliminate the chiller of the cooling system.

Details on the Liebert XDS:
The Liebert XDS is available in 42U and 45U versions and features 35 and 36 1U server slots with cooling plates designated for each slot.  One single connection to the rack supports cooling plates for all internal servers.  Unlike with other liquid-cooled systems, there are no changes or barriers to how the various components in the unit are accessed. It uses standard 1U servers with modifications to the heat sinks and still allows the servers to be removed without complicated connections.  The Liebert XDS is part of the modular Liebert XD system, which is a broad range of pumped-refrigerant, energy-efficient cooling solutions designed to flexibly support high-heat-density rack applications.

Quotes attributable to Steve Madara, vice president and general manager of the Liebert precision pooling business of Emerson Network Power in North America:

"The Liebert XDS is a major step forward in the evolution of data center cooling. Cooling is now positioned at the most efficient spot - at the server that generates the heat. Heat is stopped at the source, so no additional heat is expelled to the room from the rack. This significantly minimizes the energy required for data center cooling. It has the possibility to reduce the total data center cooling energy to less than the energy consumed by the server fans that are removed."

"As a result, the Liebert XDS has the potential to fundamentally simplify the design of data centers. With the elimination of the fans, data center managers no longer need to worry about managing airflow in the data center or employing a hot-aisle/cold-aisle configuration."

"The Liebert XDS high-efficiency solution fits perfectly into high-density environments and is ideal for data center managers updating existing Liebert XD systems, undertaking consolidation efforts or building new data centers. The high-efficiency solution actually consumes less power than 100 percent free-cooling that uses outside air, without any risks of limited operating hours."

Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Blasts Obama, the USCPSC & CDC For Gut Your Toxic House-Your SOL

Chinese Drywall Complaint Center Blasts Obama, the USCPSC & CDC For Gut Your Toxic House-Your SOL

When many US Christians were honoring Good Friday, about a month ago-the US Consumer Products Safety Commission released information suggesting all US homeowners with toxic Chinese drywall-should gut their home - perhaps calculated as a day no one was watching the news? The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says,"there was, and is just one really big problem-who pays for replacing toxic Chinese drywall?" The group says, "just as importantly, we are saying WHAT are the health ramifications to living in a home with Knauf Chinese drywall, toxic Chinese drywall, toxic US made drywall, or blank drywall found in Florida, and other states-that has no ASTM fire rating codes on it?" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Washington, DC (Vocus) April 28, 2010

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is blasting the Obama Administration, and its absolutely pathetic US Consumer Products Safety Commission, and the Centers for Disease Control for they near worthless response to the US toxic Chinese drywall disaster. The group has been demanding federal disaster relief for a year (Google-Bing-Yahoo - President Obama Chinese Drywall). The group says, "the toxic Chinese drywall disaster is worse than Hurricane Katrina in the numbers of homes, homeowners, children and states involved-the scope of this growing disaster has been expanding for over a year & the President of the United States has yet to mention this US environmental catastrophe one time in public?" The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is wondering, "why would President Obama say he'd never miss a US disaster like Katrina-mocking the former Bush Administration & then fail to show up for something much worse-like the toxic Chinese drywall disaster? President Obama has been to Florida twice since the first of the year-and has failed to mention toxic Chinese drywall-or a meaningful disaster relief program one time in public." Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

So what has the US Consumer Products Safety Commission done so far on the toxic Chinese drywall disaster? According to the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center, "the USCPSC's response to toxic Chinese drywall thus far can be summed up in two words-not much. As far as adding value to the equation the US Consumer Products Safety Commission's Gut Your House proclamation was-is an insult to every US Citizen--how about who pays for it?" The group says,"even worse the US Consumer Products Safety Commission has yet to recall one sheet of toxic Chinese drywall?" Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is calling the US Centers for Disease Control a national joke. "At a time when the US CDC should have had an all out effort to identify the health effects of long term exposure to toxic Chinese drywall-they spent all last summer, and fall proclaiming their worries about the H1NI Flu pandemic-that never happened." How about real information about exposure to toxic Chinese drywall--that homeowners need in the US Southeast right now?" The group says,"at this point-we have ER Doc's in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia, and Southeast Texas treating kids suffering from chemical exposure to toxic Chinese drywall with antibiotics-this is because the poor excuse for a federal agency (CDC) has yet to provide health care professionals-particularly in the US Southeast with health treatment protocols for toxic Chinese drywall." Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "and this is the best our big bloated federal government can do in a time of a national emergency, for the tens, and hundreds of thousands of innocent US citizens living in a toxic home-thanks to a dear a beloved friends the Chinese?" With friends like China-who needs an enemy." Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is thrilled with the April 27th Federal Court ruling against Knauf Tianjin in favor of the homeowner plaintiffs. However, the group is saying, "who helps the 100,000's of US homeowners who are stuck in toxic Chinese drywall homes-that are not Knauf Tianjin drywall? The bloated US federal government? Pathetic federal employees, or a sitting US President, who has failed to mention toxic Chinese drywall one time in public-in over fourteen months? Clearly America has changed." A product by Colorado-based So Sound Solutions LLC will be a featured installation in this week’s episode of the long-running ABC network program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

The Marshall-Spreiers family of Pocatello, Idaho will be featured on the ABC television network program on Sunday, November 7, 2010, according to advance production releases.

Jane Marshall, a single mother with nine children, braved a courageous battle with breast cancer two years ago. During her recovery, a faulty dryer vent resulted in a fire that destroyed the family home. The house was left uninhabitable and Jane was forced to use her insurance money to seek out alternative living arrangements. They are doing everything they can to stay positive despite half the family living in a one-bedroom cottage and the other half living in friend's motor home. Even during these difficult times, Jane set a strong example for her children, encouraging then to laugh, play and not give up on life.

Alleviation of the stress and pain of cancer is the reason the bed by So Sound Solutions was chosen for Jane Marshall’s use in her new home.

The Touch by So Sound™ is a bed that uses the sound-waves generated by music to provide a quiet and gentle sound-wave massage that can felt throughout the whole body to provide relaxation and deeper, regenerative sleep. So Sound Solution’s technology is based on the theories of music therapy and massage therapy which has been proven to increase circulation and oxygenation, free lactic acid and toxins, soothe and warm muscles and soft tissues, help in recovery from injuries and relieve mental and emotional stress to promote feelings of well being.

Originally designed to address sleep disorders such as insomnia and the need for relaxation from the physical effects of stress, the designers of The Touch by So Sound™ have received some unexpected anecdotal results from consumer use of their product. Consumers have reported the alleviation of symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), autism, chronic pain and other physical concerns.

“State-of-the-art acoustic resonators transmit sound waves through any surface in which they are embedded and a proprietary amplifier, designed to work with almost any musical source, delivers deep, resonating tones and harmonies that create a physically relaxing experience,” explains co-founder Barry Oser.

These components have been installed in a bed which is manufactured and distributed by Denver Mattress Company. The bed is featured in spas and educational facilities throughout the country including The Monroe Institute in Faber, Virginia; Auberge-Solange Calistoga in Sea Island, Georgia; The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. The technology can also be experienced in a suspended wood floor in the yoga-Pilates studio at the YMCA of Boulder Valley; specially outfitted treatment tables of regional chiropractors, massage therapist and other complementary health practitioners; and, lounge chairs manufactured and sold at So Sound Solutions facility.

The company will open a studio in Old Town Louisville, Colorado in mid-January 2011. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share this deep relaxation experience with people in our community. Our Louisville studio will feature a resonating SO Floor for yoga, Pilates, story-times for children, and music/dance performance, “offered Suzannah Long, co-founder of So Sound Solutions, LLC.

San Antonio partners unite to demand treatment

San Antonio (February 27, 2001) - The Alamo City has been selected as one of 16 U. S. cities for the Demand Treatment! project, a new nationwide campaign aimed at increasing the number of people who receive quality treatment for alcoholism and drug abuse in their communities. Significant barriers and discrimination prevent some 3 million Americans from receiving treatment that could help them recover from drug and alcohol disease.

San Antonio Demand Treatment! is a countywide effort of 35 diverse organizations (list follows). Over the next two years, this initiative will increase the number of people assessed for alcohol and drug problems in hospitals and primary health care settings, thereby driving up the demand for treatment.

"We want the people of San Antonio to know what they can do if they or someone they know needs help with an alcohol or drug problem," says the program director, Michelle Shenberger of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, lead agency on the project. Project strategies include publishing an addiction impact report to define the cost of addiction to Bexar County in terms of health care, criminal justice and diminished workplace productivity. The partnership also will develop a bilingual public awareness campaign to combat the stigma surrounding addiction. "Addiction is a disease, not a disgrace," Shenberger emphasizes.

Demand Treatment! is organized by Join Together, a national resource for communities fighting substance abuse and gun violence, through a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The project will be coordinated by the Southwest Texas Addiction Research & Technology (START) Center at the U. T. Health Science Center.

Apopka, FL (PRWEB) June 9, 2010

Advanced Mind and Body Products, a subsidy of CAD Graphics, Inc., a graphic design company, has created unique 3D exercise charts that provide details about mechanics and illustrate relative body positioning of the individual exercises involved in martial arts, Chi Kung, yoga and various other alternative methods for fitness and wellbeing. Charts also include the history and theory behind specific exercises.

These charts can be used for self-enrichment, reference or as education aids for teachers of yoga, martial arts and other venues of health and wellness education. The charts focus on martial arts such as BaguaZhang, Pakua, Hsing Yi, Tai Chi, and others that offer benefits well beyond self-defense. Many of these methods improve core strength, relieve stress, and cultivate "chi" (life force). Other benefits of the exercises illustrated in the charts include enhanced flexibility, coordination, balance, awareness, and peaceful state of mind. Most of the exercises can be practiced almost anywhere and by anyone regardless of physical limitations.

“We have been compiling knowledge of these exercise methods for decades,” explains chart co-author Jim Moltzan, who along with other partners, have almost 30 years of experience in various martial arts, chi kung, yoga, and other mental/physical developmental. “We decided to journal them and make them available for others.”

Much of the knowledge presented in the charts have been gained from Chinese, Korean and American martial artists, doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists, and others of various backgrounds and abilities,” explains Moltzan. “This information can seem new or alternative to American culture, but in fact much of it has been passed on from previous generations of Eastern cultures.

Charts are available as 8.5" x 11" laminated hard copies or bundled into hard copy booklets, sent out via US Mail or UPS. Some charts can be purchased as pdf downloads to be viewed or printed. Free samples are also available for download. Visit www. advancedmindandbodyproducts. com for more information.

What’s Your Diet Personality? The Diet Channel Announces Launch of Diet Personality Quiz

What’s Your Diet Personality? The Diet Channel Announces Launch of Diet Personality Quiz

The Diet Personality Quiz is one part fun and one part science. The quiz is designed to help dieters identify a weight loss plan that fits their personality and eating behavior. Are you an Office Space Dieter, a Couch Potato Dieter, or a Sexy Dieter?

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2006

What’s Your Diet Personality? Are you an Office Space Dieter, a Couch Potato Dieter, or a Sexy Dieter? Recently launched by the TheDietChannel. com, the Diet Personality Quiz (http://www. thedietchannel. com/dietquiz/home-quiz. php) is one part fun and one part science.

The quiz is designed to help dieters identify a weight loss plan that fits both their personality and eating behavior. The Diet Personality Quiz consists of approximately 20 multiple choice questions. After a person completes the quiz, the answers are assessed and each person is assigned the most appropriate diet personality based on the answers they provide. (Bloggers interested in adding the quiz to their site can copy the html code here: http://www. thedietchannel. com/dietquiz/code. htm (http://www. thedietchannel. com/dietquiz/code. htm).)

The Diet Channel (http://www. thedietchannel. com/) has identified 10 diet personality types of which 3 are matched to each person by relevance. The 10 personality types are:

•The Overeater - Overeaters, like most people in western culture, simply eat too much. It's not their fault that restaurants continue to make portions larger, thereby setting the generally accepted portion size standards higher and higher. That doesn’t change the fact that they need to lose weight. Given that overeating is their weight loss challenge, chances are good that a portion control diet is what The Overeater needs.

•The Office Space Dieter - Office Space Dieters generally eat a healthy balanced diet but, because their daily lives are lethargic and lack sufficient exercise, their metabolism is slow and they end up gaining weight. Office Space Dieters tend to do well on diet plans that emphasize exercise in addition to a healthy diet.

•The Couch Potato Dieter - Couch Potato Dieters are those people who just can’t say no to high fat, high calorie snack foods. Coach Potato's don’t just overeat; they also eat the wrong foods. Coach Potato’s tend to lose weight on diets that focus on caloric intake.

•The Health Conscious Dieter - Health Conscious Dieters are those people who, either because they have a health condition or want to prevent one, choose to follow a specific diet plan geared towards that health condition. Common diet programs built around health conditions are heart healthy diets, low cholesterol diets, low sodium diets, low fat diets, diabetic diets, and lactose intolerant diets.

•The Socially Active Dieter - The Socially Active Dieter is that person who wants to lose weight but needs a diet program that fits their socially active lifestyle. Socially Active Dieters dine out frequently and often spend evenings and weekends in group gatherings were the menu is often beyond their control. As such, they need a diet plan that requires little maintenance or meal planning on their behalf. Portion control diets tend to work well for Socially Active Dieters.

•The Swimsuit Dieter - The Swimsuit Dieter is the woman (though it could be a man these days!) who isn’t generally overweight but would like to lose a few pounds to squeeze into the swimsuit in a few weeks. "Swimsuiters" tend to lean towards diet plans where they can lose a few pounds fast. Low-carb diets and high fiber diets tend to be popular with the Swimsuit Dieter.

•The Tipping Point Dieter - Tipping Point Dieters are those people who wake up one morning and decide they have simply had enough. They admit to themselves that they have gained as much weight as they can possibly tolerate and they are willing to make substantial lifestyle changes to turn things around. Tipping Point Dieters tend to embrace long term weight loss programs as well as programs that emphasize healthy eating along with exercise.

•The Realistic Dieter - Realistic Dieters know their limitations. They understand they need to lose weight but know themselves well enough to understand they won't be successful at starving themselves. Realistic Dieters tend to find success with high fiber diets where they feel full but can still lose weight.

•The Emotional Eater - Emotional Eaters are those people who generally eat a healthy diet but, when confronted with emotional stress, tend to overeat and consume high fat, carb heavy "comfort foods". Emotional Eaters often find success with weight loss programs that include access to a support network of fellow dieters who can offer encouragement through emotionally stressful periods.

•The Serial Dieter - Serial Dieters are those people who seem to bounce from diet to diet without ever achieving lasting weight loss, despite their deep desire to obtain it. Serial Dieters, if they can restrain themselves from habitually switching from diet to diet, can find weight loss success in programs that promote long term weight loss solutions.

Rubbo Internal Arts, a Marin-based Martial and Healing Arts school, to be featured on Faith and Spirituality television program

Rubbo Internal Arts, a Marin-based Martial and Healing Arts school, to be featured on Faith and Spirituality television program.

Compassionate Warriors, Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo, and their school, Rubbo Internal Arts, will be featured on “New Morning,” a daily magazine-style television series about seeing the sacred in everyday life that airs on Hallmark Channel.

(PRWEB) September 8, 2004

Elizabeth Hummer, of Elizabeth Hummer Productions, Inc., will be filming one of the early morning Rubbo Internal Arts classes at Gerstle Park, in San Rafael, California, in early September. Airtime will be in October.

“When you develop a deep understanding that we are not separate from nature, cultivating a greater awareness of the sacredness of your inner and outer environment, you create inner peace for yourself and, like ripples in a pond, generate peace in the world,” says Cheryl Lynne Rubbo.

At Rubbo Internal Arts, the philosophy of healing and wellness is based on the belief that true healing starts from within each individual, and the philosophy of martial arts is the growth of the individual and self-defense techniques are paramount and not to be used to harm others. For the Rubbos, the martial aspect has within it the healing aspect, like the front and back of the hand: one does not exist without the other.

New Morning, hosted by Timberly Whitfield, incorporates principles from many wisdom traditions and features location stories about people who see their life as a journey of meaning and purpose. “We create a sacred space within ourselves and then all things outside ourselves can hold that sacred quality, ” says Donald Rubbo.

Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo have been teaching martial and healing arts locally, nationally and internationally since 1980. The Rubbos also have a thriving private practice as Qigong Healers.

Rubbo Internal Arts offers classes, workshops and retreats in:

TÂ’ai Chi ChÂ’uan, the rare and powerful Guang Ping Yang style  Shao Lin Chuan, traditional kungfu from Northern China  Qigong Systems for Health and Healing  Hsing Yi and Bagua, systems for internal power

Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo are devoted Vajrayana Buddhists, under the guidance of Lama Lodu Rinpoche. The Rubbos co-founded the Paul D. Pickens II Research Foundation, a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit healing arts organization dedicated to “Healing the World, One Person at a Time.”

“Donald is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had. He is truly a warrior dedicated to healing the planet,.”says Julie Bernard.

Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo were among the first in the country to develop Qigong health programs for hospitals, for Marin General Hospital.

The Rubbos taught Qigong seminars to doctors and nurses at the San Francisco V. A. Medical Center, CA, and at Kaiser Hospital in Novato, CA  Donald Rubbo designed and directs in-depth, challenging Teacher Training programs, based on ancient Chinese healing arts, so that others can spread these health benefits to the public worldwide.  The Rubbos founded and ran Five Tigers Martial Arts Summer Day Camp, for kids 6 to 15, and made learning this disciplined martial art fun for the kids, designing a program that taught development of self, conflict resolution, self-defense techniques and health exercises.  The Rubbos have been studying martial and internal arts for over 30 years, and bring warmth, humor and compassion to their work. Donald and Cheryl Lynne Rubbo have embraced and embodied the principles of martial arts: humility, respect, righteousness, trust and loyalty. They also live their lives, without wavering, by the precepts of Buddhism: generosity, morality, patience, diligence, concentration and wisdom.

Qigong is a four-thousand-year old health system, one of the four main pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine along with acupuncture, herbs and massage. Qigong is a scientifically-based practice which holds that the human body, mind, emotions and intuition form a complex, dynamic energy field. This human energy field is governed by pattern and order. In disease or injury the energy is characterized by imbalance and disorder, in good health the field is balanced.

Exciting, groundbreaking research with state-of-the-art methods in the cognitive and brain sciences are being used by neuroscientists on highly experienced meditation practitioners. Early findings are showing significant and highly positive changes in brain function from prolonged meditation practice. For anyone who has an ongoing daily meditation practice, this research confirms that the time spent meditating has great benefits at the brain level, producing lasting changes: more positive emotions and fewer upsets, increased immune function, and highly enhanced sensitivity. Studies also show that people who meditate can quickly achieve such health benefits as slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduced oxygen consumption and lower lactic acid levels.

Imaging Solutions, Inc. Named a Channel Innovator

Imaging Solutions, Inc. Named a Channel Innovator

Imaging Solutions recognized for demonstrating inventiveness and business acumen in the content management solutions they delivered in 2005 by Business Solutions Magazine.

Wallingford, CT (PRWEB) January 30, 2006

Imaging Solutions was honored by Business Solutions Magazine with a Channel Innovator Award in the Content Management category. These awards recognize the most innovative Value Added Resellers in North America.

“We’re honoring six VARs that have demonstrated inventiveness and business acumen in their respective technologies. These distinguished resellers and integrators have designed and implemented specific technology offerings to address their customers’ multifaceted business problems,” said Brian Sherman, Channel Editor of Business Solutions Magazine. The publication features Imaging Solutions in their February 2006 issue in an article titled Channel Innovator: Content Management Winner -- Adding unstructured forms processing and hosted content management technologies to its portfolio helped Imaging Solutions, Inc. attract several new customers in 2005.

Unstructured forms processing captures data from business documents when the location of the information on the page is unknown and the content is either known, such as invoices, resumes or shipping documents, or unknown, such as mortgage files or correspondence. This is much more complicated than traditional forms processing of structured documents, where both the location and type of information are known and well-defined, such as tax documents or magazine subscription orders.

“Imaging Solutions already had strong technical know-how in the data capture arena, having provided numerous forms based capture solutions. As we saw our capture software vendors’ products rapidly evolve by adding unstructured information capture, as well as document classification to their suites, it became clear that this evolution would open up new opportunities for us to augment our staff’s existing skills,” said Roger Tausig, Imaging Solutions’ President and CEO. “This allowed us to position ourselves to provide new and existing customers with a way to reduce data collection costs and become more competitive using this new technology,” continued Tausig.

Imaging Solutions, who partners with capture software providers Kofax, Captiva and AnyDoc Software, implemented several capture solutions in the last year, including ones that:

Capture orders mailed or faxed into a Fortune 500 company. The software identifies the form type by reading a preprinted barcode or by the form size.  Automate the data entry process of call record data from telephone bills.  Capture documents faxed to various groups within the consumer products division of a large corporation.  Automate invoice processing in the accounts payable department of a utility company.

Some of these solutions include custom development and integration by Imaging Solutions’ operations team as well as Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository software and production document scanners. As part of the award announcement, Business Solutions Magazine highlighted the invoice automation capture solution and Imaging Solutions’ first ASP content management implementation.

“There has been a lot of press recently about the benefits of SaaS (Software as a Service), which is the current buzz word for a hosted solution or application service provider (ASP) model,” said Tausig. “When one of our prospective customers wanted to quickly implement an enterprise content management system and was concerned about IT resources, we completed an in-depth analysis comparing Hyland Software’s OnBase content management software to OnBase OnLine, a hosted version of the product, and decided that the ASP model was the best solution for their needs,” added Tausig.

"Our congratulations to Imaging Solutions for this distinction," said Ron McClellan, Hyland Software’s Director of OnLine & Hosting Services. "They were able to leverage the power of OnBase, coupled with the flexibility, reliability and convenience of a hosted deployment, to maximize the customer’s return-on-investment. As an experienced OnBase Solution Provider, Imaging Solutions was able to utilize both technologies for a great solution for the customer."

“Our strong products and capabilities in the ECM space, coupled with the addition of a hosted solution and unstructured data capture capabilities to our suite of offerings, has enabled us to position ourselves as a true end-to-end solution provider. Our value proposition increased substantially and along with it, so did our revenue and profitability,” summarized Tausig.

Black Raspberry Softgels: Healthy New Addition to FruitFast's Top-Selling Supplement Line

Black Raspberry Softgels: Healthy New Addition to FruitFast's Top-Selling Supplement Line

FruitFast®, a leader in the fruit supplement industry, is introducing Black Raspberry Softgels -- the newest addition to their popular line of healthy value-added products.

Traverse City, MI (PRWEB) October 2, 2008

A dark-skinned fruit that is a source of naturally-occurring antioxidants, black raspberries join the FruitFast family of quality, whole fruit products designed to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Black raspberries support healthy cardiovascular function* and are a source of ellagic acid for a healthy immune system.*

Marketed by Brownwood Acres Foods, FruitFast products have been at the forefront of the functional food industry utilizing premium fruits and cutting edge technology. A pioneer in their field, FruitFast produced the world's first Montmorency Tart Cherry powder pill in 1999 and has since improved and taken their proprietary process to new levels. As a result, FruitFast Fruit Supplements (http://brownwoodacres. com/fruit_softgel_capsules. htm) are the ONLY product of their kind on the market today, "delivering the power of fruit" in a healthy, convenient and bio-available form. The revolutionary process utilizes the whole fruit - including the skin and pulp - to maintain the naturally-occurring antioxidants and anthocyanins that nature provides best.

FruitFast has been successful in capturing the nutrients found in fresh black raspberries; each Black Raspberry Softgel capsule (http://brownwoodacres. com/black_raspberry_softgels. htm) contains 70 mg of Anthocyanins and 60 mg of ellagic acid. A laboratory-tested product, the Black Raspberry Softgel Certificate of Analysis is available on the company website, www. brownwoodacres. com.

The FruitFast process protects the potent berry's phytonutrients that typically are destroyed due to high temperature processing. According to co-owner and process innovator Bob Underwood, "We are the only company in the world that uses this fruit technology. We preserve the whole fruit without extracting compounds and without turning the fruit into a less potent powder. Instead, we are relying on Mother Nature's formula as being the best way to benefit from the fruits' inherent properties."

FruitFast softgels utilize 21st Century technology to create a superior product without added sugars, fillers or preservatives and all products are made from North American grown fruit.

For less than the price of a cup of coffee, the new FruitFast Black Raspberry Softgels can provide your body with the daily natural antioxidants to help support healthy cardiovascular function and maintain a healthy immune system.*

As an additional benefit, the company recently announced that prices on their entire line of softgels have been reduced. The new everyday price per 60-count bottle of all softgels is $19.95. Additional savings are available when FruitFast Softgels are purchased in quantity. When six or more bottles are ordered, the price drops to $18.95 per bottle. As an added incentive, the company is offering free shipping on orders of 12 or more bottles of FruitFast Softgels. If other items are added to an order, shipping costs will be charged only on non-softgel products.

Nick named, the "Buddy Alert Guide (BAG) System" is a concept. not a product to purchase, and can help many teachers reach some of the most challenged in need.

Miramar, FL (PRWEB) September 9, 2008

Richard Errera, world renown inventor, having several patents (see GourmetImpressions. com) has done it again! He certainly thinks out of the box and this time as an esteemed, innovative educator, he has created and developed a revolutionary unique system which effectively teaches mixed groups of learning disabled students. It is called the "Buddy Alert Guide (BAG) System." The international education community is excited to have one more tool in its' arsenal to help teachers reach some of the most challenged in need, especially since this concept costs nothing to buy or use.

Richard Errera has a class this term consisting of an enormous population of students with officially diagnosed, categorized and yet to be recognized as such, host of special education labeling needs. These range from Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, Language Development Disabilities, ESOL challenges, and those socially acting out aggressively, impulsively, or exhibiting other inappropriate behavior with their peers. The task of teaching so many with such a diverse range of needs on a continuous basis can and does become overwhelming. There is however, a pedagogic solution shown to be quite helpful and successful almost immediately. It is nick named the "Buddy Alert Guide (BAG) System".

The common denominators of these children in the classroom are: inability to focus, begin or stay on task, being disorganized, a bit awkward, inattentive and generally appear to be in a dazed, non-alert state throughout the day. Their eyes are open. Their bodies may be still, yet they seem to be in a distant gaze, light years away from the reality or activity at hand. Their eyes are adrift, as if being alone on an anchored boat, just starring motionless at a calm surrounding sea, having neutral facial expressions; devoid of emotions. Then, often their sleepy eyes begin to close. Heads are propped up by a resting arm, but slowly they tire forward, onto folded arms on their desk. The student has a hard time keeping awake, no less being able to focus attentively or actively on the teacher, lessons, or tasks.

The typical (temporary and short lived) teacher solution for getting this student's attention and focus is to startle and scare the child by raising a firm, loud voice in reprimand having a stern look or worse, screaming forcefully down at the child. This constant barraging action negatively affects the teacher's well being and health. Likewise it has the same negative effect on the child, possibly adding to induce life long self esteem issues. It certainly is not a motivator to encourage, entice, enhance, or perpetuate the child's desire to do better or learn more. This child no doubt feels emotionally battered, abused, unworthy, depressed, and unloved. The development and manifestation of even greater, more serious problems and issues might then arise producing new, lifelong detrimental affectations.

The ongoing issues exasperating his current class large register of 26, is that the school has no extra funds for supplemental assistance. For example, "pull outs" (having small group or individual instruction), or a badly needed teacher assistant, both which might help to ameliorate the ongoing task of teaching, class management, transitioning from subject to subject or from place to place does not exist.

Consequently, student academic progress stagnates or at best is very slow, not keeping up with the expected "norm". This is true for those students having special educational needs, as well as the others being prevented from adequate advancement by the continuous classroom distractions and disruptions by those students requiring the teacher's full and undivided attention throughout the day. Effective and efficient teaching, guidance, and learning is thus thwarted on actual subject lessons. In addition, it is an obstructive obstacle, preventing individual student focused concentration and attention to begin, continue and end tasks at hand.

Moreover, the strain upon the teacher on a six hours work day, fives times a week, becomes physically and emotionally draining, frustrating, often appearing to be helpless and hopeless. It's no wonder that the rate of many new teachers starting out with idealistically good intent and desire, and many even wanting to continue, quit the profession within a short period of time, disgruntled and disgusted. The cycle repeats itself year after year, in school after school. There is now hope for all. I have developed a proven pedagogic strategy that I believe will work for other educators having similar situations.

The "Buddy Alert Guide (BAG) System", Errera says has helped tremendously. Having identified ten students with the above, aforementioned common denominator symptoms. he assigned the most responsible and alert students yo sit next to each, as a guide to "alert" when called upon. They are called "Buddy Alert Guides" (BAG) whom have been instructed (for extra credit) to help guide their "Buddy" at times of need. Realizing that their "Buddy" often needs a reminder to sit up, and be alert to follow the teacher's directions or lessons, they will do two things when signaled.

When the teacher says, "BAG" (for short), the Buddy Alert Guides glance to see where their Buddy's eyes and hands are. They will gently tap their Buddy to wake him/her out of an apparent daze when necessary, and will then point in the direction of the teacher to indicate attention and focus is needed. There is no embarrassments, and minimal if any, class disruptions. This innovative and unique system Errera says, "Works brilliantly and effectively! "

The "Buddy Alert Guides" feel a sense of importance helping a fellow classmate in need, thus encouraging deeper friendships. On the other hand, their Buddy usually instantaneously smiles feeling cared for, opens eyes wider, and feels good with renewed interest and focused attention to see what is going on in class. We are all on the same page.

Teaching, learning, and receptivity are much smoother and rewarding for all.
It is a win-win-win situation!
