Businesses Can Be X-Rayed for Health

Businesses Can Be X-Rayed for Health

Many businesses are often in denial—they think they are in great shape, or they wouldn’t continue doing business, right? Who knows better than they do? The problem is that small companies that want to build up or grow often have to be their own doctor.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 29, 2005

Many people feel they are in great physical shape—until they see their doctor. He's the one who hasn't become used to or blinded by any weaknesses. And he's the one with the x-ray machine that can actually “peer under the hood” to see if a person is really healthy – or whether they are another "tough guy" in denial.

Many businesses are often in denial—they think they are in great shape, or they wouldn’t continue doing business, right? Who knows better than they do?

The problem is that small companies that want to build up or grow itself often have to be their own doctor. They have to be the one with the x-ray machine.

No problem. Through years of helping businesses succeed, Steve Kaplan, author of the best-selling book Bag the Elephant!, has developed an ‘x-ray machine’ that allows companies to see inside and tell if they are ready to move ahead – or if they need a fitness program first.

To x-ray a company, Steve Kaplan takes pictures of these four things in the business:

1. Projected Revenue – Knowing a company's total revenues, and being able to see them as each individual contributing revenue stream, will help a company make invaluable decisions, such as which streams to develop or drop and whether it should go back to the drawing board altogether before moving forward.

2. Projected Cash Flow – When a company instantly knows everything about its cash flow, both monthly and per year, it has a good idea what short-term challenges are in its way and can see more clearly what it can do to affect them, to improve them.

3. Projected Income – Being familiar with profits and losses gives a company insight into year-to-year growth and general business trends.

4. Projected Balance Sheet – The balance sheet provides a snapshot of a business's financial condition at a particular point of time, usually the end of a fiscal year.

Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains Outsourcing Notes – Alba Spectrum

Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains Outsourcing Notes – Alba Spectrum

Microsoft Great Plains/Dynamics GP outsourcing options for mid-size and large companies.

Marathon, IA (PRWEB) June 21, 2006

Microsoft Business Solutions, for its Axapta – Dynamics AX product line, introduced version upgrade (including customization) option through 10 strategic partners, located offshore in India and China.

At this point of time, Axapta is targeting larger clients in general, where GP with its broad legacy customer base in US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Middle East, South Africa and Latin America is usually associated with mid-market or smaller corporate clients (however there are multiple cases where large accounts implemented GP successfully Worldwide, integrating it with local ERPs in the countries, where GP is not supported or not localized). Following globalization tendency, Microsoft Great Plains partners have to outsource their call centers to India, however Philippines is probably also very good option, considering the historical fact of MatchData Project accounting acquisition by Great Plains Software and turning it into its subdivision in late 1990th, prior to being in turn acquired by Microsoft. Let’s look at the options and challenges for you, potential customer and your MBS servicing partner

Centralized Call Center. Yes, this is what is usually meant, when MBS partner has to switch away from group-of-consultants-cowboys type of model to CRM driven servicing organization. Imagine – you can call your MBS partner anytime, when you have an urgent or regular issue and always get somebody technically and functionally trained and experienced on the phone the same minute, who can pull your records and begin serve you right away. Such a call center might not always be economically feasible to be hosted in USA, but with the current technological advances in VOIP and IP telephony – incoming calls might be reasonably easily redirected to the offshore or nearshore location as needed.

Remote Support Technologies. Remote teleconferencing is supplemented with Websessioning: gotomeeting. com, remote desktop connections, VPN technologies to name a few. You should also be ready to adopt such cost efficient worldwide calling solutions as skype to make your life as IT manager easier.

Great Plains Technologies. Microsoft Dexterity or former name for the GP shell is Great Plains Dexterity – being architectured more then 10 years ago – still has very good options to be supported remotely: Dexterity chunks, DYNAMICS. DIC with customization code to enable customization upgrade, etc. Latest trend to enable MS Office and Sharepoint integration is also the opportunity to entrust your customization, integration and reporting needs to the partner, deploying offshore developers

US Partner with Offshore development facility. This is in our opinion the optimal scenario, which gives your centralized call center benefits and secures local face-to-face high level functional consultants visits.

Step-by-step. When we are talking about outsourcing switching and innovation – we should be reasonably conservative. Customers should not be shocked by sudden change – it should be step-by-step. Try to think about the fact that Microsoft itself is using outsourcing technology and kind of in the process of beginning to recommend it to its customers.

New Portal Streamlines Laboratory Compliance Information, Saves Time and Resources

New Portal Streamlines Laboratory Compliance Information, Saves Time and Resources

Biotech firm Peptimmune implements eH&E–LabSupport portal to manage environmental health & safety compliance.

Newton, MA (PRWEB) May 15, 2006

Peptimmune, a clinical stage biotechnology company, has implemented EH&E Inc.’s eH&E–LabSupport web portal to better manage its environmental health and safety compliance efforts.

By implementing the eH&E-LabSupport solution, Masha Ushomirsky, Safety Officer at Cambridge, Mass.- based Peptimmune, Inc., said she and her team are now more efficiently able to account for and identify their compliance resources and materials easily and accurately.

Larger companies employ a full-time professional staff to manage the complex federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements that all laboratories are required to meet. Smaller firms cannot afford such resources. EH&E, a leading provider of health and safety and engineering consulting services, introduced “eH&E–LabSupport” as the answer. A free whitepaper about the solution is available from: http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm (http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm)

At first for Ushomirsky, finding the right system to track and organize our compliance materials was difficult. “I purchased compliance software that I had seen at a seminar, but the software was too generic and didn’t help us track our compliance materials at all.”

“I even tried to create my own system. I could not believe that no one had created software specific to the regulations of the biotech industry. When I found eH&E-LabSupport and examined it closely, I found that it fits our needs perfectly,” she said.

“The EH&E system offers additional benefits beyond managing all of our possible compliance needs. For instance, with the customization of the EH&E site template, Peptimmune is able to track chemicals that would normally slip between the cracks because they don’t fall into standard categories,” said Ushomirsky.

“The beauty of the eH&E-LabSupport system is that it is web based, so our employees can log in and stay aware of dangerous chemicals and possible situations,” stated Ushomirsky. “In the event of an audit, OSHA can see that all our compliance materials are organized in one location and that we are putting forth a good effort to remain compliant.”

“And,” she added, “beyond the value of the ‘compliance portal’ is the ability to discuss industry issues with EH&E’s own professional engineers. They (EH&E) are people who understand and have the expertise to assist me with any issue that may come up. Between the software and engineering resources, eH&E-LabSupport has paid for itself in full. I recommend eH&E-LabSupport compliance portal to any biotech company.”

The eH&E-LabSupport portal provides a comprehensive compliance management program, including tools, databases and document templates to facilitate easy program development and maintenance. A self-audit tool provides a launching pad for assessing the current program status and customizing the site contents to the organization. The solution is built upon Microsoft Windows® SharePoint®, thus allowing users to easily customize and integrate the eH&E–LabSupport application with all their Microsoft Office products, including Outlook®.

Lab-focused web training programs are available to minimize classroom training requirements. And eH&E–LabSupport provides direct access to EH&E’s experienced team of EH&S professionals and engineers

A free whitepaper, Environmental Health and Safety Compliance in Laboratory Operations: Common Deficiencies Encountered During Audits, is available for download from: http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm (http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm)

MedVision Launches Merger Advisory Service for Medical Practices

MedVision Launches Merger Advisory Service for Medical Practices

Arthur D. Perrone, M&A Dealmaker and Investment Banker, joins MedVision Advisory Board to Assist Physicians with Revenue Optimization through Mergers and Practice Consolidation

Tustin, CA (PRWEB) January 7, 2011

MedVision, a premier revenue cycle management company for physician specialty practices, today announced that it has launched a merger advisory business to further help physicians achieve their goal of revenue optimization. “While we do not advocate mergers for all practices, due to increasing client and market demand, MedVision has created this new service to ensure that certain practices are well-positioned to grow not only their revenue but also to increase their profitability through consolidation,” stated Sandra Hunnicutt, president of MedVision.

Many analysts and health experts believe that for small practices to survive in the next chapter of American medicine, they must merge in order to achieve economies of scale, reduce expenses, gain purchasing power, and increase revenue.

“We have always taken a holistic approach to the medical revenue dilemma, and this is just an extension of ensuring that practices aren’t left by the wayside due to colossal legislative change,” added Ken Alston, chairman of MedVision. “With Mr. Perrone’s deep and unique experience in mergers and acquisitions and our expertise within the revenue cycle, MedVision believes that we have the requisite skill sets to assist practices with strategic decisions.”

Mr. Perrone was co-founder and vice-chairman of the Geneva Companies, constantly a leader in middle market mergers and acquisitions and completed over 300 transactions during his tenure. “What we’re seeing today in the medical community is similar to other industries that have undergone sweeping regulatory change,” observed Mr. Perrone. “Like those businesses before them, it is critical for physicians to be a few steps ahead of the legislative curve. Mergers can hedge risk and provide innumerable benefits, but they are rife with landmines without thoughtful guidance. What MedVision wants to ensure is that when the music stops, the small practices aren’t left without a chair.”

About MedVision
MedVision is a premier revenue cycle management company focused on medical billing, collections, and practice management solutions. Since 1994, we have partnered with practices to optimize physician revenue allowing doctors to focus on medicine and positive outcomes. MedVision materially increases collections and decreases accounts receivable for clients, in some cases in excess of 100 percent - dramatically increasing revenue and cash flow. We achieve these results through our integrative revenue solution - a pioneering balance of deep and unique billing experience, financial analysis, exhaustive collections, and appeals - all built on a robust technology platform. DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest law firms, advises MedVision on corporate and legal matters.

Therapist Presents Unique Approach to 'Flushing Away' Negative Experiences

SAN DIEGO -- Today's fast-paced world is not conducive to self healing. Experimenting with the concept of self discover in a public setting, author Aliya Fonseca, MA, offers a unique approach to healing in her new book, Waking Up on the Toilet: Real Experiences About Appreciating Real Life! (now available through AuthorHouse and other retailers).

Fonseca coined the term and the concept of "waking up on the toilet" after the death of her grandmother in 1991. Forced to face difficult experiences in her life, she realized that the only way to move beyond them was to "flush them down the toilet." With the realization that many people felt the same way, Fonseca's movement was born. She began mentally collecting stories from other people who felt they were "waking up on the toilet."

Beginning in 2004, Fonseca and her team of five collected stories in schools, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, prisons, the Internet and other organizations. Combined with poetry, journaling, self-help exercises, positive affirmations and colorful examples of everyday life, these stories provided readers with a comforting reminder that they are not along. The book covers personal experiences on a broad array of problems and negative experiences, including family, social, emotional, financial, mental and physical challenges.

"Waking Up On The Toilet is a clinical tool," Fonseca says. "It is an inspirational book with clinical exercises that can be implemented by a lay person or clinician for self development."

Fonseca's book has been compared to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. "Aliya Fonseca has captured the true American spirit," says Dr. Carrol Waymon, a contributing writer for the San Diego Union Tribune. "Waking Up on the Toilet's contributing writer's are only there to share what they've flushed down the toilet, no celebration of trivial accomplishments."

Fonseca is the founder and CEO of Waking Up on the Toilet. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a specialty in substance abuse and mental health. She also serves a board member for the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Interventionist. Waking Up on the Toilet is her first book, but she is already compiling stories for future editions and also working on a novel related to the project. More information on the project is available at www. wakinguponthetoilet. com and www. wuott. com.

St. Albans, VT (PRWEB) August 14, 2006

An interview with Vermont Governor Jim Douglas is now available in a podcast format on Vermont Viewpoint Online. Vermont Viewpoint Online is a non-partisan, internet political radio show.

During the interview, Gov. Douglas talks about many of the issues facing Vermont now and in the near future. Of considerable concern to the governor is the loss of the state’s young people as they leave either for college or to find jobs or affordable housing. He says that the state needs to move forward on his proposed Agenda for Affordability which he presented during his State of The State Address in January, adding that he was disappointed that the legislature did not take up his suggestions during this last session. One of the ideas that Douglas talks about during the interview with host Don Lewellen is the possibility of a land bank using state owned property to make housing more affordable. He encourages municipalities to also join in.

Douglas, who has been active in politics since he stuffed envelopes at a GOP headquarter while in Junior High, also discusses in the interview the issues of the high cost of health insurance, the need to cap property taxes, making Vermont more business-friendly, and Civil Confinement - his plan for holding convicted sexual offenders until they receive treatment.

Douglas, who is serving his second term as governor of Vermont, is running for a third term. In the November election he will face Scudder Parker (D), Bob Skold (Liberty Union) and Cris Ericson (Marijuana).

“Today's personal robotics industry is in its infancy,” states Ted Stalets, owner of DomainNesteggs. com. “With only a handful of products like robotic vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers now available, my extensive collection of robotic domains is a textbook case of supply far exceeding demand... but that’s OK.” It’s OK, according to Stalets, because worldwide interest in personal robots is soaring – due in part to the current popularity of the movie iRobot. Another push comes from the Japanese press, which predicts that within a decade or two the personal robotics industry will rival the size of the automobile industry.

So, the question arises: do robotic-related domain names have any worth today? Stalets answers, “Although most of my robotic domains today aren't what you would call prime cyberspace real estate, they do have value for forward-thinking entrepreneurs. As the personal robotics industry starts to go mainstream in the next 10-15 years, these domain nesteggs should prove to be golden, providing their owners with very valuable, global, electronic storefronts.”

Currently, DomainNesteggs. com boasts fifteen specific categories of robotic-related domains, geared to sales and marketing, manufacturing, security, healthcare... and especially personal assistants! All categories list carefully selected generic domains – each one representing a potential global robotics business.

DomainNesteggs. com is filled to the brim with targeted generic robotic domains. For example, how about 'HealthcareRobotics. com' for a global company supplying robots to the healthcare industry. 'RoboticLoans. com' or 'RoboticLeasing. com' would be natural product extensions for a forward-thinking financial services company. 'ButlerBot. com' might well be a supplier for that helpful personal robot. For current information, savvy consumers would be quick to take advantage of 'RobotRatings. com' or 'RobotConsultants. com' for on-line comparisons of different models and specifications, easing the complex process of choosing a robot that is "just right". And yes, inevitably even the best of robots will break down from time to time, so why not 'RoboticInsurance. com' or 'RepairMyRobot. com'?

These generic domains make especially good business sense in the Internet age. Instead of spending large sums of money to familiarize consumers with non-generic branded companies like Techowiz or XYZ Corporation, today’s astute entrepreneur can buy the markets’ valuable mindshare right along with the generic domain. Ted Stalets explains: “Let’s say you have two robot parts suppliers: Techowiz. com and RoboticSupplies. com. Which of these two companies has the advantage through ownership of the natural thought processes of its target customers – making it easier for them to find you? It’s as simple as that.”

The cost savings in owning the domain name which matches the customer’s natural thought process is huge. Says Stalets: “Properly selected generic domains can result in the vast majority of the marketing budget being saved, which can amount to 10 - 20% of sales revenue. This traditional business expense is just not needed with properly selected generic domains, and ends up going straight to the bottom line – into profits.”

As our lives are drawn deeper and deeper into the Internet, owning a business described by a generic domain will be exactly like owning a full category listing in the global Yellow Pages. Stalets emphasizes this point: “Choosing a strategically sound generic domain name today can provide decades of competitive advantage.”

In a way, the personal robotics industry now stands at a juncture similar to that faced by the earliest personal-computer manufacturers of the late 1970s: that time when computers were a familiar presence in business, but still unheard-of in the home. It seems only reasonable to expect that the industrial robots which have been assembling our automobiles for two decades will take the same path computers did – straight into our personal lives. These marvels of technology are already cleaning our floors and mowing our lawns. In due time, we will find them scooting around our homes cooking our food, doing our dishes, washing our clothes and, yes, picking up after - and even mentoring - our children. Who knows – perhaps a future robotics company will owe much of its success to a generic robotic domain it acquired from DomainNesteggs. com... way back in 2004.

Tea: The Most Consumed Beverage in the World

Tea: The Most Consumed Beverage in the World

Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world. So why are Americans a coffee drinking society? Tea has health benefits that all coffee drinkers should know about.

(PRWEB) July 18, 2005

Tea is the beverage of choice for most of the world, so why do Americans drink so much coffee? With Starbucks around every corner, it is obvious why Americans are coffee drinkers rather than tea drinkers. Only recently, the coffee giant Starbucks introduced their green tea “frappuccino”. Yet, compared to coffee, tea has real benefits which you will see.

Every day more than half of all American adults consume over 300 milligrams (mg) of caffeine, thereby making caffeine America's most consumed drug. Caffeine slips into our daily diet through the form of coffee, tea, chocolate and cola. What is caffeine? Caffeine is known in the medical world as trimethylxanthine and occurs naturally in coffee and cocoa beans and teas leaves. However, while the caffeine found in coffee and tea is the same molecule, it is proportionately more present in coffee than tea. A six ounce cup of coffee contains 100 mg of caffeine. Yet, a six ounce cup of tea contains just 70 mg and, unlike coffee, this stimulant to the nervous system is released slowly into the body. As a result, it allows the body to be alert, but not hyper like coffee.

Coffee drinkers often say they cannot function without their morning cup of coffee. Yet drinking tea can also give you a mild, more sustainable caffeine boost. And, if the taste of coffee is irresistible try replacing your coffee latte with a tea latte. Or, on a hot summer day, try making an ice lemongrass green tea. It is cool, refreshing and wonÂ’t make you nervous.

It is almost impossible to find the health benefits of coffee. However, the health benefits of tea are bountiful(http://www. camellialearf. com/health_benefits (http://www. camellialearf. com/health_benefits)). For example, if you are concerned about cellulite, green tea is recommended as an anti-cellulite solution. Daily intake of green tea has also been shown to lower LDL cholesterol. Plus, green tea contains EGCG, a major ingredient of the well-known TrimSpa diet product. EGCG is a polyphenol that is responsible for increasing your metabolic rate and burning more calories, naturally. When shopping for teas, keep in mind that not all teas are created equal. Fresh teas are more potent and will likely be more beneficial.

To purchase the freshest premium organic tea, visit www. camellialeaf. com. For your convenience, this newly-launched online company has a 24 hour order line (888) 883- 6784. Or, get free shipping by ordering online! Camellia Leaf is not only committed to your body, they are committed to the environment and the community. Camellia Leaf donates one dollar from each purchase to www. afsusa. org and www. hei. org. As their gift to you, visit the site to receive free muslin tea bags for your loose tea.

The next time you drink a cup of coffee ask yourself whether the tea drinkers of the world know something that Starbucks is not telling you. Then, try Camellia Leaf teas. You will be pleasantly surprised by the delicious taste and comforted in knowing you are drinking a healthy alternative to coffee.

IS POOR NUTRITION MAKING YOU GAIN WEIGHT? TAKE THIS QUIZ AND FIND OUT!

IS POOR NUTRITION MAKING YOU GAIN WEIGHT? TAKE THIS QUIZ AND FIND OUT!

Americans hate to be losers, and sometimes it seems that their bodies hate it too. Millions of Americans are overweight and ordinarily must work much too hard to get rid of excess fat. Could this be caused by poor nutrition? “Yes”, says Jonathan Edwards, author of Simple Effective Weight Loss—The Practical Guide, a special eReport from Hamilton/Wolcott Publishing. “Poor nutrition causes excess hunger, which makes you gain weight and be unable to lose it.”

(PRWEB) November 17, 2002

The human body needs about 50 different nutrients in regular daily amounts. If it doesn’t get enough of even one of these, it quickly triggers hunger to signal you—and then compel you—to get it more of something it must have to keep you alive and healthy. This causes excess hunger, and that causes “overeating”—which makes you gain weight and be unable to lose it. The answer? Eat a highly-controlled, semi-varied diet that uses special sets of nutritionally concentrated natural foods to make sure you get enough of every single nutrient your body needs—except Calories.

“When you can do this, your body simply pulls its Calorie needs out of your fat cells, which is why they exist anyway, but never runs low on any nutrient that would make you hungry while it’s doing so.” says Edwards. “It’s simple to understand, but with 50 nutrients to manage, it’s even simpler for people to mess up—without ever quite knowing how or why they did—unless they get some effective guidance.”

Answer TRUE or FALSE to the following to test your weight control nutrition know-how.

I know what essential fatty acids are and regularly eat low-Calorie foods that have enough of them to prevent hunger.

I know how much protein my body needs and how much of the low-Calorie protein foods I need to eat to get that amount, but no more.

I take a multivitamin/mineral supplement daily.

I eat non-fat yogurt and/or milk products regularly.

I eat tomato products at least several times a week.

If you answered “no” to even one of these questions, your nutrition know-how may need a “tune up” in order to be able to smoothly power you to weight loss success.

You can find the answers to these questions and much more information about this at:

Study: Longer Restyling Cycles Explain U. S. Auto Industry's Loss of Market Share

Study: Longer Restyling Cycles Explain U. S. Auto Industry's Loss of Market Share

A failure to introduce new products at the same rate as foreign manufacturers explains the dwindling market share of United States auto companies, according to a new Virginia Commonwealth University study to be published in the Journal of Business Research.

Richmond, VA (Vocus) October 22, 2009

A failure to introduce new products at the same rate as foreign manufacturers explains the dwindling market share of United States auto companies, according to a new Virginia Commonwealth University (http://www. vcu. edu/) study to be published in the Journal of Business Research.

"Non-Price Determinants of Automotive Demand: Restyling Matters Most," a study by three economists in the VCU School of Business (http://www. business. vcu. edu/), analyzed secular market share changes in the automobile and light truck submarkets. Their research revealed that new product, as measured by restyling, represents the dominant determinant of demand in the auto industry. Other factors, such as price, advertising, rebranding, warranty curtailments, new safety appliances and even changes in vehicle reliability, had minimal impact on demand.

"A 10 percent reduction in relative price would yield only one-tenth the market share impact of a restyling," said Oleg Korenok, assistant professor of economics at VCU and lead author of the study. "And one would have to double one's relative advertising expenditure to match the impact of a restyling."

Domestic automotive producers saw their market share fall from 72.9 percent in 1996 to 47.4 percent in 2008. Over the 1995-2006 model years, Japanese manufacturers restyled on average ever third year, while U. S. manufacturers restyled every four years.

Korenok and his co-authors, George Hoffer, professor of economics at VCU, and Edward Millner, professor and chair of the Department of Economics (http://www. business. vcu. edu/economics. html) at VCU, argue that "this difference in styling (frequency) better explains the 25.5 percent market share loss for domestic manufacturers over this period than more often cited factors such as reliability differentials as cited by Consumer Reports."

"Japanese and Korean makes and to a lesser extent European brands have been much more aggressive in restyling and much more aggressive in introducing new products than the U. S. brands," said Hoffer, who has researched the auto industry for more than 40 years. "Interestingly, the current Detroit Three (General Motors, Ford and Chrysler) used more frequent restylings 50 years ago as a weapon to drive the post-war independent American manufacturers such as Hudson, Kaiser and Packard from the market."

The study authors say that increased fragmentation of the domestic automobile market and management misallocation of styling resources explain the failure of U. S. manufacturers to restyle more frequently. They said that the Detroit Three's best hope of regaining market share is to increase the level of restyling activity, especially for high-volume lines. Domestic manufacturers also should be reluctant to jettison established vehicle line names because rebranding has an adverse market share impact.

"Non-Price Determinants of Automotive Demand" has been published on the Journal of Business Research web site -- http://tinyurl. com/ojk5jh (http://tinyurl. com/ojk5jh) -- and will be published in a forthcoming issue.

Menopause Home Test Kits Newest Trend with Baby Boomer

Menopause Home Test Kits Newest Trend with Baby Boomer

Like home pregnancy tests and do-it-yourself blood pressure monitors, home menopause testing kits are becoming increasingly popular to help women understand whether symptoms such as hot flashes are part of the natural process leading up to menopause or due to other causes.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 20, 2006

With North American Baby Boomer women entering menopause at the rate of 2 million women annually, a revolution in attitudes has spawned new products to help women manage a stage in their lives that is no longer kept a dark secret. Like home pregnancy tests and do-it-yourself blood pressure monitors, a home menopause testing kit created by CST Medical Ltd. helps women understand whether symptoms such as hot flashes are part of the natural process leading up to menopause or possibly due to other causes (www. myscentuelle. com).

“Because symptoms of going into menopause vary so dramatically from woman to woman, it’s great to know whether night sweats, irritability, vaginal dryness, insomnia and other symptoms are due to impending menopause or to other health factors,” says Linda Ryan, founder of WomenInMenopause. com. “Armed with this information, a woman can better prepare for a relevant conversation with her doctor about her risk of osteoporosis and whether or not she should consider hormone replacement therapy -- or look into alternate explanations for symptoms. If the test is positive, she can also explain to her partner that her unpredictable mood swings have a physiological cause.”

CST Medical’s Menopause Home Test Kit determines whether or not a woman’s urine contains an elevated level of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (known as FSH), which is generally secreted into a woman’s bloodstream by the pituitary gland when her estrogen level has begun to fall. For most women, estrogen levels begin to fall several years prior to menopause. Each kit contains two tests, to be used seven days apart for greatest accuracy.

“If the test fails to indicate an elevated FSH level, then a woman’s hot flashes or night sweats might be caused by medication, stress or just being overheated,” Ryan says, “and that too is something she might want to discuss with her doctor.”

These simple, quick, discreet home menopause test kits are available from www. myscentuelle. com for $19.95.

Natural Celebrity Secrets: MaxoLash Creating A-List Lashes

Natural Celebrity Secrets: MaxoLash Creating A-List Lashes

More consumers are jumping on the bandwagon ride that takes them to easy, sexy eyelashes by using a well-kept and all-natural celebrity secret. A newer eyelash strengthener, MaxoLash, offers an affordable, over-the-counter, effective and all-natural alternative to costly cosmetic eyelash rejuvenation methods.

Manalapan, NJ (PRWEB) June 30, 2009

A topic not typically discussed on the celebrity circuit, but aptly noticed by tabloid mediums and Hollywood neophytes are eyelashes. Namely, how normal everyday women can get the same sexy lashes as their favorite superstar actors. A newer cosmetic product that has been created by Dermagevity Skin Care, and is being distributed online by Healthwebshopping. com - MaxoLash - offers consumers just that: an affordable, safe and effective means to lengthen and strengthen their eyelashes.

According to Jennifer Staudamire, Spokesperson for MaxoLash, affordable, over-the-counter eyelash strengtheners are as much of a cosmetic necessity as other beautification products like foundation, or eyeliner.

"Glamour is seemingly always the prevalent theme when you look at any celebrity magazine or tabloid report…they are always making comments as to the external appearances of Hollywood's most talked about A-listers," Staudamire says.

From the eyes of the consumer, they have few options when it comes to truly adding length to their lashes and strengthening broken, dried or damaged eyelashes. The reality is that most consumers are not going to spend the kinds of money on their eyelashes that movie stars have the deep pockets for.

As Staudamire claims, they (consumers) no longer have to fret about draining their checkbooks just to get sexy eyelashes, thanks to MaxoLash.

"MaxoLash empowers everyday ordinary women to easily achieve the same, sexy A-list lashes as their favorite celebrities boast. But, without costing them a small fortune in the process," Staudamire explains.

MaxoLash eyelash stimulator and strengthener is applied using an applicator brush that is included with the product. It is lightly brushed onto the eyelashes one time per day, prior to applying any makeup or mascara. MaxoLash typically shows noticeable results of eyelash growth and strengthening within the first one or two months of daily usage.

To learn more about how all-natural MaxoLash can rejuvenate your lashes, increase length and strength, and stimulate follicle growth, please visit them online at: http://www. MaxoLash. com (http://www. MaxoLash. com).

He will explore the exploding "LOHAS" (Lifestyles of Health & Sustainability) zeitgeist which provides him with a variety of topics that cover the artistic, cultural, historical, and socio-economic trends and transformations taking place today.

Pinchbeck's pedigree is profound. He has deep personal roots in the New York counterculture of the 1950s and 1960s. His father was an abstract painter, and his mother, Joyce Johnson, was a member of the Beat Generation and former partner of Jack Kerouac. He was a founder of the 1990s literary magazine Open City with fellow writers Thomas Beller and Robert Bingham. He has written features for numerous publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Esquire, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone and many others. In 1994, he was chosen by The New York Times Magazine as one of "Thirty Under Thirty" destined to change our culture. He lives in New York's East Village.

A profound spiritual crisis in his late twenties led Pinchbeck to the study of shamanism. His first book, Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism (Broadway Books, 2002), recounted his personal initiation into several tribal cultures that continue to use shamanic plants in their rituals. Without rejecting modernity, Pinchbeck became convinced of the legitimacy of the shamanic and mystical worldview held by indigenous peoples around the world.

But this brought up troubling questions: If the modern West, in its pursuit of rational science and materialism, had rejected crucially important aspects of reality, what did this say about our society, and its immediate future?

His new book, 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl (Tarcher/Penguin, 2006), chronicles Pinchbeck's journey to answer these questions, from Stonehenge to Burning Man to the Hopi Indians in New Mexico. In it, he unifies the ideas of a large number of writers, philosophers, and physicists to offer a new paradigm for understanding our time. 2012 is an unusually elegant, critical and adventurous inquiry into controversial possibilities and radical ideas, as well as a pop phenomenon. Filmmaker David Lynch calls it a "great book," and Sting describes it as "a dazzling kaleidoscopic journey through the quixotic hinterlands of consciousness." Since its release, Pinchbeck has been profiled in Rolling Stone, interviewed on The Colbert Report, and tagged in The Washington Post's year-end "hot list."

"Prophet Motive" picks up where 2012 left off, continuing his trenchant analysis of our particular time and place in history, and grappling with some of the most difficult questions of the day: What global and personal transformations are facing us right now, and how can we successfully navigate them? Despite climate change and rampant militarism, is it possible that humanity will evolve to a higher state of awareness? What is the meaning and purpose of the synchronicities and coincidences occurring everywhere these days? You haven't really thought about your world until you've seen it through the eyes and mind of Daniel Pinchbeck.

"Prophet Motive" is available monthly in each print market and online. See www. ConsciousChoice. com for more.

According to New Data, Australia Needs to Improve Management of Young People with Cancer

Young people with cancer fall into the gap between adult and paediatric oncology services and Australia needs to re-think current treatment of young cancer patients. The current debate is about the ‘grey zone’ between 15 and 35 years of age. In 2001, there were 1751 Australian patients diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 30 years, compared with 603 patients under the age of 15 years. Recent data suggests that improvements in outcomes of cancer in young people lag well behind the advances that have been achieved for both children and older adults in the past 30 years.

Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) April 11, 2006

Young people with cancer fall into the gap between adult and paediatric oncology services and Australia needs to re-think current treatment of young cancer patients, according to a paper by Dr David Thomas and colleagues in the Internal Medicine Journal (IMJ), the official journal of the Adult Medicine Division of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

“The physical, emotional and social challenges facing young people with cancer remain among the most difficult faced by patients, families and health-care providers. These include balancing young people’s needs for autonomy and independence with parental demands; promoting continued engagement in education despite treatment; facilitating social development and handling peer pressure and managing the effect of cancer on sexual maturation and intimacy,” Dr Thomas said.

“Isolation is a very important psychological issue for young people with cancer. Many young people risk losing contact with their key providers of social support during treatment. This is not only because of school absence but also because healthy peers commonly find it hard to empathize with the experiences of young people as patients. Obviously, isolation is also a major challenge for rurally based young people.”

Young people may also feel isolated from their own healthcare team, as health-care professionals report greater difficulty communicating with young people than other age groups. Furthermore, there is evidence that health professionals avoid discussion of emotionally charged issues in younger patients.

“We need to ensure health professionals in adolescent health are both competent and confident in communicating with young people as well as their families,” Dr Thomas said.

One of the problems with the current system is the relative rarity of individual cancers in young people when compared with either children or adults, which results in treatment being dispersed throughout many centres. As a result, few institutions develop sufficient clinical expertise or participate in clinical trials and most are unable to afford the specialized infrastructure needed for dedicated psychosocial support. The scarcity of patients also means few hospitals are able to provide an appropriate environment of peer support, whether in terms of inpatient or outpatient settings.

“We need to develop a solution to this issue while balancing two important principles, namely, that regardless of location, all Australians should have equal access to the best possible care including psychosocial support and that care should be delivered as close as possible to home.”

“One of the ways we could address this issue is to provide specialized medical and psychological support remotely, by encouraging local clinicians to work with others with expertise in the area while also ensuring proper psychological support is provided.

One model is that the patient’s case would be reviewed by local clinicians in conjunction with a group embodying wider expertise, resulting in a comprehensive management plan. This approach would result in standardized treatment based on best practice and would be expected to enhance health outcomes. Online support using Web-based resources, may also be a powerful way of ensuring that both clinical treatments and psychosocial supports remain on track,” Dr Thomas said.

This study is published in the April issue of the Internal Medicine Journal (Vol. 36, Issue 4).

CNS VITAL SIGNS ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF SPANISH LANGUAGE

TESTING SUPPORT FOR NEUROCOGNITIVE TESTING BATTERY

Test Allows Healthcare Providers to Assess the Neurological Condition of Spanish

Speaking Patients

Chapel Hill, NC - CNS Vital Signs, announced the addition of Spanish language testing support within the CNS Vital Signs Screening Battery. The Screening Battery is an easy-to-use computerized neurocognitive testing application unveiled at this yearÂ’s American Psychiatric

Association Meeting. The application provides physicians and other healthcare providers a tool to objectively measure neurocognitive problems with memory, attention, motor speed and other neurological conditions, a process that heretofore required specialized hardware and perhaps specially trained personnel.

“Feedback from users encouraged us to provide a Spanish version of the Screening Battery”, stated Alan Boyd, CEO of CNS Vital Signs. “It was a priority to get this out to our customers. We feel it is very important to serve this growing segment of the population, especially when

Language barriers may exist between patient and provider.”

The Spanish version is bundled with the English version in one application so users need only upgrade to the current version or download the current version if this is a new install. (Download from www. cnsvs. com)

A second enhancement is included in this upgrade. The upgrade allows specific test selection. For providers wanting to focus on a specific condition, the test select function will provide them with the flexibility to administer specific tests within the Screening Battery.

The Screening Battery is administered in 30 minutes or less on conventional hardware. It generates a concise intuitive report immediately after patient testing. The application provides millisecond precision on tests of attention and memory on modern WinTel computer platforms.

CNS Vital Signs, located in Chapel Hill, NC, develops computerized tools allowing healthcare providers to assess and track treatment of neurologic states and diseases.

NaturScience Sets Sights on Multi-Billion-Dollar Healthcare Markets Trade Newspaper Says

NaturScience Sets Sights on Multi-Billion-Dollar Healthcare Markets Trade Newspaper Says

The Network Marketing Business Journal, the leading direct sales and multi-level industry newspaper for the past 20 years, has featured NaturScience as its “Company of the Month” in its December 2005 issue. The up-and-coming company has set its sights on multi-billion-dollar healthcare markets (three main ones -- cardiovascular, immune support and pain relief), the industry newspaper reported.

Joliet, IL (PRWEB) November 6, 2005

“NaturScience asks, ‘How much of the multi-billion dollar cardiovascular, immune support, pain relief market do you want?’ At one-year old, NaturScience is a young company with a ‘young,’ one-year-old sizzle product called LimuPlex that answers the problem to all of the questions above,” wrote the Network Marketing Business Journal, formerly named Money Maker’s Monthly, the leading direct sales and multi-level industry newspaper for the past 20 years. The trade newspaper has featured NaturScience as its “Company of the Month” in its December 2005 issue.

Kevin O’Connor, the company’s president, says NaturScience is driven by the Napoleon Hill philosophy “find a need and fill it.” With the entire world facing the avian flu pandemic, with obesity at epidemic proportions in the United States, with Americans’ complaints about chronic pain and cardiovascular troubles, despite theirs being one of the wealthiest nations, but apparently not the healthiest, NaturScience has developed LimuPlex, and a supporting product line, to meet those health threats, the feature article went on to explain.

The Network Marketing Business Journal article said, “This young company, with the backing of its 27-plus-year-old manufacturing partner, believes its time is now.” NaturScience’s corporate team, which has a track record of building successful network marketing organizations in the past, has developed a lucrative compensation plan, called “Dynamic Simplicity,” where a new distributor can tap into a 66 percent payout on the first eight levels from day one. This company wants to offer everyone the opportunity to earn a portion of the multi-billion-dollar healthcare markets listed above.

Texas Oncology Urges Texans to ‘Save Your Skin:’ Outsmart the Sun and Prevent Skin Cancer

Texas Oncology Urges Texans to ‘Save Your Skin:’ Outsmart the Sun and Prevent Skin Cancer

Now that school is out and the first day of summer is upon us, the cancer care experts at Texas Oncology remind Texans to "save your skin" by outsmarting the sun when spending time outdoors. Although the most prevalent cancer in the United States today, skin cancer is also the most preventable. The majority of the more than 1 million annual U. S. cases of skin cancer are sun-related.

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) July 1, 2008

Now that school is out and the first day of summer is upon us, the cancer care experts at Texas Oncology (http://www. texasoncology. com) remind Texans to "save your skin" by outsmarting the sun (http://www. texasoncology. com) when spending time outdoors. Although the most prevalent cancer in the United States today, skin cancer is also the most preventable. The majority of the more than 1 million annual U. S. cases of skin cancer are sun-related.

"The skin is the largest organ in the body and should not be taken for granted. In states like Texas where sun exposure can be intense for many months, we can take an active role in preventing skin cancer," said Dr. Meghana Bhandari, medical oncologist at Texas Oncology (http://www. texasoncology. com) . "Melanoma can be deadly, but it is curable if diagnosed early and has not spread to other parts of the body."

Nationally, melanoma, the most deadly of all skin cancers, will account for more than 60,000 cases of skin cancer in 2008 and more than 8,400 of the more than 11,000 skin cancer deaths during that time. Texas ranks third in the nation for incidence of malignant melanoma, and one in three Texans will develop skin cancer in his or her life.

"Prevention starts by knowing what the risk factors are and taking measures to protect against ultraviolet rays," said Texas Oncology (http://www. texasoncology. com) Bhandari. "In addition, because early detection leads to higher survival rates, you should be mindful of changes in your skin and have them examined by a physician."

People with fair skin or who are outdoors frequently are at higher risk. For example, people who work outdoors are susceptible to high exposure to ultraviolet rays. Parents should also remember that even children need protection at a young age from the sun.

However, everyone is at risk of developing skin cancer and should take precautions. In fact, approximately 7 percent of all skin cancer cases occur in patients of Hispanic, African-American, Asian-American, or Native American descent.

Texas Oncology (http://www. texasoncology. com) physicians recommend that people at risk check their skin regularly. Often, the first sign of melanoma is a change in the size, shape, color, or feel of an existing mole. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using the ABCD method to help detect melanoma:

A = Asymmetry: One side of the mole does not match the other in size, shape, color, or thickness.
B = Border: The edge or border of the mole may be irregular.
C = Color: The color of the mole is not uniform, various shades of brown and black may be present.
D = Diameter: Skin cancer melanomas are usually larger than 6 millimeters in diameter, but they can be smaller.

Changes in the skin should be reported to your health care provider right away. You may be referred to a dermatologist, who specializes in diseases of the skin. Experts recommend the following preventative measures to "save your skin:"
Protect your skin by wearing a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher every day. Reapply every two hours or according to the product label. Limit sun exposure during 10 a. m. and 4 p. m. when ultraviolet light is strongest. Wear a hat, long-sleeved shirts, long pants or skirts, as well as sunglasses with at least 99 percent ultraviolet absorption to protect your skin and eyes. Newborn babies should be kept out of the sun. Babies should wear protective hats in the sun. Be sure to apply sunscreens on children over six months of age. Review your skin closely every month from the top of your head to your toes. See a physician if you notice any changes.

"Saving your skin is easier with some simple measures to outsmart the sun. Avoiding sun exposure when possible, and taking precautions such as using sunscreen go a long way in preventing skin cancer," said Bhandari.

People Make Companies Work: Team DNA Makes People Work Together

People Make Companies Work: Team DNA Makes People Work Together

UK-based Management Consultancy Transform People International, has launched a turnkey approach to team and relationship building, behavioural change and conference management: Team DNA.

(PRWEB) May 31, 2002

Transform People International have launched their Team DNA Programme in the UK: www. teamdna. co. uk. Created for those who are fed up with themed events and bouncy castle team building exercises that override the serious business message they are trying to communicate.

UK-based Management Consultancy Transform People International, has launched a turnkey approach to team and relationship building, behavioural change and conference management: Team DNA.

The Global Management Training Consultancy aims to help companies find out what makes their teams tick, improve performance and achieve a better understanding of each other and their clients. It does this with a new and dynamic approach with lasting benefits to business, team and individual performance, closely linking its programmes with the real objectives of clients and delegates.

Transforming Business Culture & Behaviour: What is Team DNA?

Team DNA is a unique event-based approach to communications and training for companies that want to:

Q Transform their internal culture

Q Improve communications inside their organisation

Q Build better relationships with clients

Q Win and retain more business

Q Collaboratively build teams

Q Motivate and inspire their staff

Q Lay a foundation for lasting improvement and development.

“At the heart of the TeamDNA™ experience lies TPI's behavioural transformation programme, delivered in a dynamic and highly motivating way,” says Ronnie Stronge, Director of TPI. “Tailored exercises work, even with large groups, to change people's understanding of how to improve communication and build relationships.”

TeamDNA™ starts from the premise that however good many team building exercises are, their value is usually short lived. That is because they do not address the basic needs of people to understand and do something about changing their attitudes, habits, and behaviours. Many team building exercises do little to help people who are “wired” one way understand how to communicate effectively or get the most out of their relationship with others who are “wired” differently.

Team DNA: The Story So Far

Having started life as a three-hour workshop, Team DNA has now been delivered as a conference event in North and South America and in Europe to audiences ranging from 100 to 1,000, building on TPIÂ’s expertise in bringing about attitude and behavioural change. With each individual involved, no matter of the size of the conference.

TPI had been working with Compaq Latin America on some core behavioural change programmes, essentially in small groups. So pleased were the recipients, that TPI were asked to deliver a longer version of the programme to over 1,000 people – effectively the entire Latin company sales force. They were “blown away” by the programme’s impact and it’s potential lasting value.

“As with a number of TPI ‘products’, TeamDNA was born from practically addressing existing client challenges,” says Ronnie.

“Several of our larger clients are undergoing major change initiatives or were gathering top management teams from around the world. They wanted their investment in conferences to pay off with more impact. They wanted something different and they wanted value beyond the event itself.”

TeamDNA one and two-day events include:

Q a 20+ page report of each delegates personal temperament, together with the implications this has for building better relationships.

Q Interactive session: the fundamentals of temperament in a presentation format that deliberately sets out to entertain as well as inform. The intention is to turn on a light of understanding for each member of the audience.

Q An illustration of how this new learning can be applied in real-life situations faced by members of the audience, motivating individuals and teams to make changes immediately - and be prepared for the continued change characteristic of a dynamic and collaborative working culture.

Q Collaborative Healthcheck TM, designed to assess areas for improvement and change within a team, and create specific training that is relevant to the audience.

Q Additional motivational sessions and an expanded format for the two-day event.

Sometimes the TeamDNA event can be used to initiate a longer-term training programme. One example is the powerful Trusted Adviser Programme, which examines ways in which teams and individuals can move to a higher level of engagement and trust - bringing a range of business and personal benefits to the organisation.

Feedback is encouraging, “Feedback from TeamDNA™ programmes indicates many different exciting outcomes,” says Ronnie. “Managements have praised its impact in helping start the journey of culture and other change. TPI has seen further engagements to help implement programmes as a direct consequence.”
