Capella University Ph. D. Graduate Authors book on Real-Time, On-Line Database Recovery

Capella University Ph. D. Graduate Authors book on Real-Time, On-Line Database Recovery

'Surviving the Next Database Disaster' is first book by the online university grad

Minneapolis (PRWEB) September 26, 2007

Jeffrey Test, a Ph. D. graduate of Capella University (www. capella. edu), an accredited,* fully online university with nearly 20,000 students, has authored a book on real-time, on-line database recovery titled Surviving the Next Database Disaster.

"Access to database information is critical to the survival of any business. The loss of regional power, political and public unrest, natural disasters, or even an unfortunate mistake by a construction worker digging through a phone cable can drive modern data-reliant businesses and their business partners into bankruptcy," Test said. "Any organization that uses information stored in databases or has relationships with businesses that use databases is at risk. What I've done with this book is to clearly and methodically outline how to diminish that risk."

Test explained that the book is for anyone looking to build a survivable architecture for small to medium-sized databases. For those who do planning on the continuation of operations, the book explains how to continue operations after losing your primary data center, illustrating the point through case studies in which it was handled poorly.

Published by VDM Publishing, the 100-page book is Test's first, and is based largely on the doctoral dissertation he wrote for Capella. Test graduated in March 2006 from the online university with a PhD in organization and management with a specialization in IT management. Capella was recently designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security.

"I have found that most of the other books out there on database recovery and contingency planning are based on theory, but few tell you exactly how to do what you need to do to help ensure your business survives in the event of a database disaster," Test said.

Test lives in Lusby, Maryland, (about 60 miles from Washington DC) with his wife and two children. He is a computer specialist with the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.

Exactly How Toxic Are Household Cleaners?

Exactly How Toxic Are Household Cleaners?

The amount of Natural Cleaners sold in Supermarkets is increasing? There is a reason the Name Brand Cleaners are switching to Natural Cleaners? The amount of toxic Household cleaners is unreal.

Rapid City SD (PRWEB) July 20, 2007

The number of Natural Cleaners sold in supermarkets these days is increasing. Do you wonder why natural cleaners are outselling name brands? Is there something we are not being told about all those commercial household cleaners that accumulate under the kitchen sink?

According to the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (2007),
"The average American uses 25 gallons of toxic and hazardous chemicals in their home per year. Of the 17,000 chemicals found in household cleaners, only 3 out of 10 have been tested for their effects on human health." (MDEQ, 2007).

Many cleaners contain petroleum based products, which are slow to breakdown in the environment, non-renewable and can contaminate our air and water. Of these chemicals, many are flushed down system and make their way through our sewers to our creeks, rivers, and ultimately our ocean.  According to the EPA (1995), "the air we breathe inside our homes could be as much as 5 times more polluted than the air we breathe outside." (EPA 1995).

Exactly what type of chemicals are we using in our home? Commercial Spot Cleaners can be loaded with carcinogenic ingredients, neurotoxins, central nervous system depressants, and all of these are considered hazardous waste. Sodium Fluosilicate, Na2SiF6 (A poisonous, white, amorphous powder; slightly soluble in water, and used to fluoridate drinking water and to kill rodents and insects) is commonly used in some commercial laundry detergents. Furniture Polishes can contain neurotoxins and other hazards to the environment. A close investigation in household cleaners, commercial oven cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners and metal polishes reveals a vast amount of chemicals that are used as pesticides and even fuel. The more one comes in contact with these toxic cleaners the more one is at risk. Is it any wonder that "occupational dermatitis" is the foremost source of work-related disease?

According to the information in the Encyclopedia of Medicine (2007), Americans spend as much as $300 million a year in their quest for treatments for contact dermatitis. Florists, domestic workers, hairdressers, food preparers, janitors, and employees in industrial, construction, and health care are the people most at risk of contracting work-related contact dermatitis.

Common cleaning products could be more dangerous than germs are. Often we forget that our largest body organ, our skin, absorbs everything it contacts.

Chemicals that you are exposed to can be detected within a minute in all organs of the body. Many "cleaners" release their toxins as fumes which you then breathe in. Mothers that breast-feed should be very cautious around household cleaners since many chemicals, like chlorinated products, can form orgono-chloride compounds that accumulate in fat cells and end up in breast milk. Ask any parent how much contact a baby has with the rugs and floors in their home/day-care area, then consider the chemicals found in rug cleaners and spot removers on those same floors, and an awareness warranting caution emerges. We need to make our homes safe and eliminate all of the toxins we use in it.

The good news is that the public is becoming more aware of the toxic chemicals in commercial cleaners, and many consumers are switching to all-natural, non-toxic products.

The alternatives to harsh chemicals are finding their way onto the shelves of our supermarkets, and the consumer now has a choice between harsh commercial cleaners and these alternative products. The cost is usually less than the toxic cleaners on the shelves of super markets. The natural products usually cost less than commercial cleaners, so you are not only saving money, but protecting the environment, netting an A plus in personal health management, and gaining the sure knowledge that your home is free of toxins released by commercial cleaners.

If you would like to learn more about the chemicals in laundry soap and cleaners currently used in your home, simply go online and do a search about the products you currently use.

Orange County Fat Reduction Magic - Without Surgery

Orange County Fat Reduction Magic - Without Surgery

OC Derm Nissan Pilest has excited patients lined up for the latest innovation in Fat Reduction - the Zeltiq. Zeltiq reduces targeted fat areas by freezing the fat cells in a process called cryolipolysis. Completely nonsurgical. the Zeltiq procedure is a perfect solution to love handles, "bra line" fat and poochy abdomens.

Irvine, CA (Vocus) August 10, 2010

Irvine Dermatologist frosts patients who want to lose their fat rolls. New cryolipolysis technology literally freezes the fat off.

The love handle, the “muffin top”, the tummy pooch, that crazy-making fat roll at the bra line – even if you’re slim and trim, those areas can resist all diet or exercise. And that’s why researchers were excited to parlay a long-known “side effect” of eating popsicles into an exciting process that helps you get rid of those isolated fat pockets.

The process, trade named Zeltiq (pronounced Zelteek), is now being used at Total Dermatology, the cosmetic, medical and surgical dermatology practice of Nissan Pilest, Board Certified Dermatologist in Irvine, California. Read how Zeltiq works and view photographs

Dr. Pilest is an early adopter of the newer technologies as his upscale patient base demands a high standard of attention and care. “My patient base is a very well rounded, well educated model of Southern California professionals,” attests Dr. Pilest. “They keep up with the latest and expect me to provide what they want, and sooner instead of later. I’m very active in the professional community so I have the advantage of early input and study results. That often makes it more comfortable for me to step out as one of the firsts with newer technologies.”

Zeltiq is already proving to be a satisfying treatment option. Instead of invasive surgery, Zeltiq is completely noninvasive. Over the period of an hour, the patient rests while the Zeltiq system lowers the temperature of the treated area to just above freezing. This causes a crystallization of the fat cells (which freeze at a higher temperature than water) while not adversely affecting the skin.

Once the cells are sufficiently “frozen”, they go into break down mode and over a period of several months, this breakdown results in fat loss – and the loss is permanent.

Who is the fat freezing process for? Well, it’s not for those who are overweight as it’s not a substitute for dieting or weight loss. It’s for patients who are in good health, of fairly normal weight, who have isolated areas of resistant fat. When exercise and diet have failed to rid your body of fat areas around the abdomen, flanks, waist and back, Zeltiq steps in to do the job.

“We’re really excited about Zeltiq in the practice,” says Dr. Pilest. “I’ve been practicing dermatology for 31 years and this is the first successful noninvasive option for ridding the body of fat. We’ve had countless patients who have expressed their frustration over small areas of fat that have bothered them for years. This is the perfect solution to trimming down those areas without liposuction, without drugs and without pain – plus the procedure is repeatable after a time, so results can be increased at will.”

Dr. Nissan Pilest is a training physician for a number of lasers, including Candela laser systems and Fraxel lasers; his practice is a national Botox training facility; and his is a national training physician and speaker for Juvederm, Botox, Restylane and Perlane, Dysport and Radiesse. An Associate Professor at UCI’s Department of Dermatology, Dr. Pilest has weekly classes with Dermatology residents in the UC Dermatology program.

Total Dermatology is a full scale dermatology practice in Irvine, Ca providing both medical and cosmetic services to the Orange County area residents in Southern California. The practice maintains an educational website and offers monthly informational email newsletters to those seeking to learn about today’s dermatology technologies.

Visit the website, http://www. TotalDermatology. com to learn more about this and other procedures. Dr. Pilest offers free enewsletters for patient education and cosmetic consults are complimentary. You may call the practice at 877-DrPilest or 877 377 4537 for an appointment or information.

Exclusive Chicago Fitness Facility Offers Results in the Loop, Not Memberships

Exclusive Chicago Fitness Facility Offers Results in the Loop, Not Memberships

Fitness experts in the Loop opening a unique location with a twist, no memberships will be sold. People will pay to choose from a mix of programs and services that all deliver different results.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 25, 2006

UNICUS Fitness is doing away with gym memberships at its newest creation on Michigan Ave in the heart of the Loop. They announced the opening of The Fitness Lair at 233 N. Michigan Ave. The Fitness Lair will have a stocked lineup of specialty fitness programs, personal training, elite sports conditioning and corporate wellness programming. The unique thing is that no memberships will be sold. In order to get into this exclusive location, people will have to decide which of the offerings that they want to purchase based on the result they are looking to achieve.

"We wanted to offer something to people who don't want to go to a typical gym and pay an initiation fee and then a monthly rate and then an extra fee for personalized instruction or programming. With The Fitness Lair, people just pick from our menu of services and we deliver the service," explains UNICUS Fitness Co-Founder and President, Frank Nunez.

"The Fitness Lair is all about the client and their result. The Lair doesn't have leather couches or waterfalls in the lobby or expensive art work on the wall, but it does have a lineup of equipment that delivers the promise of our clients getting the result they want."

Set on the top floor of 233 N. Michigan Ave, there isn't even an elevator you can take to get to the Fitness Lair.

"Our clients want privacy and exclusivity. We have no walk up traffic, since no one can even get in the building without first calling or emailing us and asking for an appointment," says Nunez. "We offer high level training for all our clients but we have attracted a lot of interest from professional athletes, models and actors/actresses, groups that place a premium on getting a result and complete privacy."

Once in the Fitness Lair, the first thought that runs through peoples minds is, "This is going to be serious." No shiny rows of machines or the sterile look of contemporary gyms, just a wide open, industrial look that lets the customer know that the Fitness Lair is not your average workout facility. With a combined total square footage of just around 11,000, there is an area roped off exclusively for personal training that has dumbbells all the way to 100lbs, barbells and benches, plus an entire alcove dedicated to state of the art functional training equipment made exclusively by Vortex Fitness. There is even custom made equipment, provided for UNICUS Fitness by Body Solid and Direct Fitness Solutions, local Chicago land equipment vendors. A separate Group Fitness Area and Sports Conditioning Area, including a fighting sports section, complete with a small army of punching bags, round out the many training sections of The Fitness Lair. "If your typical high end gym or health club in the city were like going to a drugstore and buying an over the counter medication to take care of yourself, The Fitness Lair is like going to a heart surgeon in a state of the art clinic. " says Nunez. "We have things that people won't ever see in a typical gym and we guarantee our work."

There is a therapy room that UNICUS offers massage as well as pain therapy in the form of what is called Muscle Activation Technique. There is also an office that houses a Registered Dietician and Corporate Wellness Specialist. A complete line of nutritional products are also available for clients with everything from genetically engineered vitamin packs to meal replacements to XS energy drinks available for purchase onsite.

For additional information on the Fitness Lair or UNICUS Fitness programming or to arrange a private tour, contact Frank Nunez.

New Biometric Access for Citrix Clouds

New Biometric Access for Citrix Clouds

Ceelox recently adapted Ceelox ID, a biometric Identity Access Management tool, to work with Citrix servers and client computers.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) September 4, 2008

Ceelox recently adapted Ceelox ID, a biometric Identity Access Management tool, to work with Citrix servers and client computers.

"Using biometrics to secure access to centralized Citrix networks is a giant leap forward for Ceelox," Gerry Euston (http://www. ceelox. com/leadership. html#1), CEO, said. His company, Ceelox, makes biometric access authentication and encryption solutions for PCs and networks. Ceelox recently adapted one of its core products to work with Citrix servers and client computers.

"Citrix is the name for application delivery," Euston says. Citrix Systems of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is the industry leader in virtualization and remote access over networks and the Internet. Renowned for their centrally organized server clouds and client networks, Citrix products are in 99% of world's largest 500 corporations. Both Windows and UNIX applications are available transparently on Citrix clients.

Working with Citrix has created new, strong partnerships for Ceelox. One such relationship has been cemented with Bayshore Technologies, a Citrix Platinum Partner and network systems integrator, "Ceelox ID Server Edition works seamlessly with Citrix's virtualization client user authentication," says Winston DuBose, V. P., Director of Business Development at Bayshore. "We are thrilled with the product and the company. Both companies having Tampa area headquarters is real a plus for our teams" he says. Citrix's client protocol permits ordinary Windows applications to run on suitable Windows servers, and for any supported client to gain access to those applications. Various thin client platforms build in Citrix's client software.

Ceelox, a Citrix Technology Partner, is a private software development firm in Tampa, Florida, since 2003. Their motto is "Biometric Security Software made Simple." One of their primary tools is Ceelox ID (http://www. ceelox. com/ceeloxid. html)®, available as a stand-alone and network application, or as a software development kit. It uses fingerprints to control access to PCs, networks, applications, Internet and Web sites.

Scanning user fingerprints, Ceelox ID® creates a user bio-template. It does not store a fingerprint image. The bio-template can eliminate the need for users to enter passwords. Unlike other IAM tools, Ceelox ID does not require the system administrator to either change or create new accounts for users. It searches for the bio-templates on both local and server computers, allowing users to log on to their computers even when the server is not available. Users simply slide their finger for LAN, program and Web site access.

Euston says Ceelox ID is the first biometric IAM tool to allow multiple Citrix clients to work transparently with as many Citrix servers as necessary. "Since both biometrics and Citrix servers are such rapidly growing markets," he says, "combining the two opportunities together strategically places Ceelox at the crossroads of much larger markets."

Sports Broadcaster Bonnie-Jill Laflin Says Women in Sportscasting Create Own Barriers

Sports Broadcaster Bonnie-Jill Laflin Says Women in Sportscasting Create Own Barriers

Popular sports broadcaster, Bonnie-Jill Laflin, talks to menÂ’s interest portal Xposed. com about the barriers faced by women in sports journalism and how celebrities guard their public image.

(PRWEB) July 1, 2005

Popular sports broadcaster Bonnie-Jill Laflin talks to menÂ’s interest portal Xposed. com about the barriers faced by women in sports journalism and how celebrities must guard their public image.

San Francisco-born Laflin refers to former Monday Night Football sideline correspondent Lisa Guerrero in an Xposed celebrity feature this week, as well as comedian/MNF vet Dennis Miller and actress Tara Reid.

“You have to be on top of your game or you lose your credibility and you’re done,” she says, citing Guerrero, who lasted only one season on MNF.

Like Guerrero, Laflin is a former NFL cheerleader, model and actress. She hosts ESPN2’s “Speed World” and the “Cold Pizza” morning show, while also doing sideline reporting for CBS Sports.

“(Female sports broadcasters) still jump over hurdles now because there are females who make it hard for people like me because they use their sexy ways and don’t know sports. Girls like that won’t make it long. I want longevity. I don’t want to be a flash in the pan.”

Laflin would love to one day sit in the big seat at Monday Night Football.

“When Dennis Miller was on there, I had to put my TV on mute. I couldn’t even listen to him. He drove me nuts,” she says. “He didn’t know football, and I don’t think he’s funny.”

When it comes to posing for sexy photos or playing the hot girl roles, she said sheÂ’s game -- to a certain point.

“I’m not guarded about doing anything sexual. I just think now, with the line of work I’m in with the broadcasting, you have to be careful what you do. Credibility is everything. You can’t be doing some things because then you are perceived a certain way, even though you may not be that way. Some girls show too much and it gets them in trouble, like Tara Reid. She’s out there partying too much and sleeping around. She isn’t even considered an actress anymore. She’s a party girl.”

In the Xposed. com interview and non-nude pictorial, Laflin also talks about her experiences as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and dating Joey Gilbert, one of the boxers from the NBC show “The Contender”. To read the interview, see http://www. xposed. com/xposed_girls/bonnie-jill_laflin_-_not_sidelined_for_long. aspx (http://www. xposed. com/xposed_girls/bonnie-jill_laflin_-_not_sidelined_for_long. aspx).

About Xposed:

The success is attributed to positive word-of-mouth among users who enjoy the online portal for its streaming news, sport and entertainment every 15 mins 24.7, daily features on entertainment, sports, women, dating, celebrities, fashion, health, sexuality, games, gadgets, rides, careers, money, odd stories, humor and continuously updated headlines from around the globe.

When It Comes To Dieting Say "No To Low"

When It Comes To Dieting Say "No To Low"

There are more diets now than were created in the past two decades combined. The leader among these are the ones advocating low carbs. If you believe all the fad diets, you should also be doing low carb eating. Recent overwhelming evidence from the largest nutritional study of a population ever done is quite convincing to the contrary.

Libertyville, IL (PRWEB) June 18, 2006

When it comes to low…it’s good to have a low amount of debt; best to have a low number of divorces; great to have low cholesterol and triglycerides. If you believe all the fad diets, you should also be doing low carb eating. Recent overwhelming evidence from the largest nutritional study of a population ever done is quite convincing to the contrary.

According to results from The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell (Director of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University) we should be saying “NO to LOW” carb diets.

Now that I have your attention, let me explain in detail. While it is good to stay away from white flour, white sugar and foods that are processed, we absolutely need to say YES to a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and grains.

With the current rash of low carb diets, what replaces the carbs? If you answered…more animal protein and fats, you are correct! All food is composed of the three macro nutrients, Fat, Carbohydrate and Protein. If you decrease carbohydates then you must increase proteins and fats. In our culture, this means an increase in flesh foods/meats or dairy. Since the vegetables/legumes that contain protein also contain complex carbohydrates, they are minimized in the popular low carb diets.

I will admit that many of us who undertake these low carb diets will lose weight. This is what has made this low carb concept so popular. My concern with these diets is the long term effects of eating high animal protein along with fats. This is evidenced by The China Study. Results from this study found the incidence of cancer is very localized in China. Dr. Campbell looked at the diets of people in those areas where cancer was very prevalent. It also happens the amount of animal protein that is eaten is very localized too. Some regions of China report eating almost no animal protein and while other regions report protein making up about 20% of the diet. Prior to the study, the assumption was those impoverished areas with almost no meat in the diet would be one and the same areas with high cancer rates. To Dr. Campbell’s surprise, as he grew up on a dairy farm, those people who ate the most animal proteins had the highest rate of cancer. There was a 100% correlation; we can say it was statistically significant! Through animal testing, the researchers arrived at the reason for the high protein and cancer connection. One group of rats was exposed to aflatoxin, a cancer causing mold toxin, while given a diet high in animal protein. Another group was given a high complex carbohydrate diet with vegetable protein while being exposed to the aflatoxin. The results were the same as the people studied in China…those with high animal protein diets had the highest cancer levels and those who ate the high complex carb diets were actually protected against the cancer.

At this point, I need to make the distinction that animal protein and plant proteins were entirely different in the occurrence of cancer. After more testing and research, the mechanism for these cancer findings was discovered. In the liver, two chemical pathways for detoxification are called Phase I and Phase II. In Phase I, the liver takes a toxin and transforms it into an intermediate toxin. This toxin is more dangerous and toxic than it was in the first place. Phase II is then supposed to catch this intermediate toxin and make it safe. The Phase I path is inducible, which means toxins and certain other substances get the liver all revved up! It turns out that animal proteins rev up this Phase I path and so do cancer causing agents like mold toxin. Excess toxins in our environment today do not mix well with a high animal protein diet. For me, this demystifies why the rate of cancer has been increasing. With our current Low Carb Craze, cancer is certain to continue its rampant growth!

This study confirms to me why the use of our amazing HealthE-Clear and HealthE-Meal medical foods have been so effective for detoxification and weight loss in our clinics. These medical foods contain no animal protein. Instead, they are rich in rice and/or soy proteins which have been shown to decrease the incidence of cancer. This also explains why these foods have worked so well in support of our patients who have or have had cancer in the past. Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and grains will help us stay healthy.

Now you know better than to go low on the carbs…just say “No to Low!”

AP9 BusinessMax Guides Members Through Their Next Interview

AP9 BusinessMax Guides Members Through Their Next Interview

AP9 Business Max presents tips to shine during an interview.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) March 9, 2007

Norwalk, CONN. March 09, 2007 … New year, new goals, and new job. Sound familiar? And three months later, after finding an open position for the right job, applying for it, and finally getting that phone call asking for an interview - blowing the interview just can't happen. AP9 BusinessMax (http://www. businessmax-program. com/), a leading membership discount program offering members savings on everything from office supplies and services to professional development, provides members with the interviewing tips they need to ace their next job interview.

AP9 BusinessMax reports that finding the perfect job is not as easy as one may think. But the reality is that the majority of people have a more difficult time landing their dream job than they do finding it. Many times, a job interview that didn't go as well as planned may be the blame.

A job interview is not only about professional experience. It's about first impressions, body language AND professional experience. While many job applicants worry about how they will answer every possible interview question, in reality many don't do well because of their improper body language. There are certain techniques AP9 Business Max (http://www. businessmax-program. com/BusinessMax_qanda. html) recommends using for a successful interview:

-- Feeling prepared equals being prepared. First, we'll assume that the interviewee has already done her homework before the interview by reading up on the company and industry news, practicing and thinking of answers to the most common interview questions, and following the "what to wear for an interview" guidelines. What's important is feeling prepared and, as a result, being prepared for the interview. The key to success: The interviewee needs to feel 100% confident of her knowledge and experience.

-- The interview begins at "hello." Many managers claim they can pick out a good candidate in 30 seconds or less -- a decision based on physical appearances and first impressions. Looking clean, professional, and eager to start is the key in the first 30 seconds. However, body language is just as important as one's personal appearance. From the moment an applicant walks into the building to the moment he leaves, positive body language, professional posture, and professional behavior should become one.

-- Look alert. Sit up straight and lean slightly forward in your chair to show interest and engagement. If more than one person is doing the interview, briefly address both people with a gaze, then return the attention to the person who asked the question. Think before answering a question -- taking a minute to gather one's thoughts is not a mistake. Interviewees should try to provide examples of past experiences to highlight their own expertise in a particular area.

-- It's not over until it's over. Think of the interview as being over only until after leaving the building. Everything that happens between the last handshake and the closing of the front door can still make an impression. AP9 Business Max recommends not letting one's emotions take over -- stay calm and collected until you are officially off the property.

The interview is just the beginning of a career journey. Remember that, at the end of the day, sheer hunger, excitement, professionalism and confidence are what will differentiate one job candidate from the next, concludes AP9 BusinessMax.

UK Doctors and Nurses Seek Better Lifestyles Abroad; But It’s Not the NHS Funding Cuts, It’s the Weather

UK Doctors and Nurses Seek Better Lifestyles Abroad; But It’s Not the NHS Funding Cuts, It’s the Weather

Despite the recent spate of National Health Service (NHS) announcements detailing funding cuts and what some have termed a ‘slash-and-burn approach’ to cutting jobs, the NHS isn’t routinely cited by doctors and nurses as a top cause for leaving the UK health system; it’s weather and lifestyle opportunities abroad.

London (PRWEB) March 27, 2006

Despite the recent spate of National Health Service (NHS) announcements detailing funding cuts and what some have termed a ‘slash-and-burn approach’ to cutting jobs, the NHS isn’t routinely cited by doctors and nurses as a top cause for leaving the UK health system; it’s weather and lifestyle opportunities abroad.

Doom and gloom figures were published in several London-based daily newspapers over the weekend projecting a loss of up to 25,000 jobs in the NHS. With much being made of the failure of last week’s Budget to address key NHS issues, the system and its front-line employees are poised to be in the media glare for the coming weeks.

‘If the numbers suggested by the Tories that were published in the weekend’s press are any indication cuts to come, there’s likely to be a significant number front-line medical staff, including nurses and perhaps even doctors, looking for opportunities abroad,’ said Oonagh Baerveldt, spokesperson for Visa Bureau. ‘But in fact, those who choose to go aboard will have already been thinking about a lifestyle change.’

The Australian and New Zealand health care systems are keenly interested in attracting skilled nurses and doctors to live and work in the respective countries. Australia and New Zealand have included on their Migration Occupations in Demand List and Immediate Skills Shortage List respectively, doctors with specialisation such as paediatrics, and registered nurses including those with specialties in midwifery and mental health.

‘The skills shortages in western countries like Britain, Australia and New Zealand are more acutely felt in the medical professions because of our comprehensive health care systems. The feedback we’re receiving from nurses is they aren’t leaving the NHS because of funding cuts, ageing populations in western countries are putting a strain on all health care systems, it’s a personal decision based on lifestyle, weather and a more manageable patient load in a more rural environment,’ said Baerveldt.

‘Australia has even taken the step of changing their stance on same sex couples looking to emigrate under the skilled visa category in response to medical staff shortages in its regional areas. Senator Vanstone from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs said in her own press release that doctors who couldn’t sponsor same sex partners were declining to come to the regional areas of Australia to practice. By the end of the year, nurses and doctors who want to sponsor same sex partners under the country’s skilled visa program will be able to; that’s a direct change in response to the needs of medical practitioners,’ said Baerveldt.

‘Nurses and doctors who have been educated and trained in the UK, or have a significant UK health care experience are in an excellent position to move to Australia or New Zealand to practise,’ said Baerveldt. ‘Interested candidates can visit the Visa Bureau web site at http://www. visabureau. com (http://www. visabureau. com) and fill in the online assessment for Australia or New Zealand to see if they meet the eligibility requirements. Jobs are certainly available for those who maybe looking now or in the near future.’

True Fountain of Youth Antioxidant Discovered

True Fountain of Youth Antioxidant Discovered

Dr. Patrick Flanagan has isolated an antioxidant that could alter the future of human life. He calls this discovery “MegaH.” Until recently, the most powerful antioxidants known to man were green tea and grape seed extracts. Validated and confirmed scientific studies verify that MegaH is 800% more powerful than both green tea and grape seed extracts.

(PRWEB) February 21, 2004

After decades of laboratory investigation, Dr. Patrick Flanagan developed MegaH based on research about the requirements of cell life for oxygen and hydrogen. He discovered that ionized hydrogen is as important to human cellular lifespan as oxygen. MegaH literally extends human cell life more than any other substance known to man. During the last 12 months, Scientific and Medical Journals have published multiple peer reviewed studies validating Dr. FlanaganÂ’s antioxidant discovery and the potential health applications for MegaH.

“The amount of antioxidants that you maintain in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live," says Richard Cutler, MD, Director of Anti-Aging Research, National Institute of Health. Dr. Flanagan developed MegaH based on his research about negatively-charged hydrogen ions and nanotechnology in the form of Microclusters®. The combination of these two technologies, hydrogen ions and Microclusters®, results in a revolutionary antioxidant with remarkable anti-aging implications.

“By controlling free radicals, antioxidants can make the difference between life and death, as well as influence how fast and how well we age…. Their role in the human body is nothing less than miraculous,” says Lester Packer, Ph. D., Director of Packer Lab at the University of California at Berkeley, and senior scientist at the prestigious Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Dr. Flanagan has been featured in Life Magazine and hundreds of newspaper, magazine, television and radio interviews. He was awarded the prestigious Scientist of the Year Award in 1997 by the International Association for New Science. Dr. Flanagan is an exciting and experienced guest speaker who gives compelling, entertaining, and easy-to-understand interviews about anti-aging and disease prevention.

(PRWEB) April 23, 2007

Societies thirst for knowledge on natural healing options is growing at a rapid pace. This can be seen by the growth of websites like Natural Therapy Pages (www. naturaltherapypages. com. au) which has grown to attract over 200,000 visitors to their website each month. These people are after information on natural therapies, how they work, what is in involved in a session and what qualifications their practitioners should have.

Natural Therapy Pages CEO David Vitek tells us the response from readers has been fantastic and that they are constantly asking for more information. In response to this demand for content they have created a complete natural health glossary (http://www. naturaltherapypages. com. au/glossary) which outlines descriptions of common health problems and the possible treatment options people have.

"These days people have so many options available to help them overcome their ailments" Vitek says, "we have just laid out this information in an easily accessible place so that people can gain a greater insight into natural health options (http://www. naturaltherapypages. com. au) ."

The website also has a directory of over 6000 natural therapists. Each practitioner has their own profile page so you can read about their qualifications and areas of specialty. The site works on a postcode search so that you can read about practitioners in your area. "We are just trying to give practitioners a platform to tell society what they actually do and how they can help people overcome their health problems with natural remedies. The internet provides such a powerful tool to achieve this".

So what does the future of the natural health industry hold? "Who knows?" says Vitek, "The one thing for sure is that it is growing at a rapid rate and you are starting to get more and more people reaching for a herbal medicine treatment (http://www. naturaltherapypages. com. au/therapy/Herbal_Medicine) for their problems instead of turning to drugs and antibiotics."

Hadlyme, Connecticut Author Publishes New Book

Hadlyme, Connecticut Author Publishes New Book

This metaphysical exploration uses intelligent reasoning to examine the principle of life

Pittsburgh, Penn. (PRWEB) March 18, 2010

Satan's Looming Identity Crisis! The Final War in the Age of Reason examines the principle of Life and the universe using modern language. The reasoning shows the principle to be a practical, logical, scientific system where sickness, limitations, trouble, and death are understood to be hypnotic, dream-like illusions that can be wakened from and thereby destroyed.

Like mathematics, music, and physics, metaphysics is a subject where no one is asked to blindly believe what is presented but rather to engage their intelligent reasoning ability to understand and apply what is learned. Health, abundance, and Life in a forever "now" are attributes of reality available to everyone--right now--through this process. An insidious identity thief and its illusions are exposed and our true, perfect Ego and Universe are revealed; a celestial, eternal, singularity that is Intelligence and Life itself; the only Life.

Extensive endnotes are provided to show that the principles covered in this book coincide with Genesis through Revelation and other early texts of the world's major religions to include Jewish and Islamic origins. We find their origins were actually non-religious concepts all rooted on the same, true, intelligent, principle and reasoning; the infinite Oneness of Perfect, Intelligent Being and the benefits this understanding provides.

Correctly understanding who we really are would be especially useful to leaders and world populations today where our misunderstanding and mistaken beliefs about life and religion have polarized the masses into the idiotic and dangerous "us, them, and a separated, personal God" mentality. It was never "us, them, and a separated, personal God" but was always the infinite singularity and individuality of "I AM" and the attendant harmony that always follows the realization of true facts versus mistaken beliefs.

With intelligent reasoning our technologically advanced civilization has mastered many disciplines. We have made it up to the mouth of the cave. It is time to extend that same intelligent reasoning to all aspects of our experience, leave the cave of lies and illusions and find our True, Infinite and Harmonious Identity. These concepts and more are revealed in I. A. Mallone's metaphysical exploration, Satan's Looming Identity Crisis! The Final War in the Age of Reason.

After studying various ancient and contemporary religious and metaphysical works for over thirty years and having proven to his satisfaction that he was on the right track through various demonstrations and healings for himself and others, the author's collected notes and observations establishing the fundamental principles have been formatted into a book.

The author feels it should not take anyone who is interested thirty years to understand and prove these principles that are actually quite simple when clearly reasoned in modern language with an open mind. When these principles are individually understood and applied they will be found to be beneficial to one's health, wealth and happiness and especially to the joyful unveiling of the truth about ourselves and our universe. The author trusts his book will accomplish this task.

I. A. Mallone is the author's pen name and his book will reveal this choice as appropriate. The author is a retired engineer in the design of advanced submarine propulsion systems and holds various patents in that field. He lives in Connecticut.

Satan's Looming Identity Crisis! The Final War in the Age of Reason is a 196-page paperback with a retail price of $16.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4349-0455-3. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bawell Water Ionizers Offers 60-Day Risk-Free Trial

Bawell Water Ionizers Offers 60-Day Risk-Free Trial

Consumers can experience the health benefits -- and great taste -- of ionized water from their drinking tap. Water ionizers have many potential benefits to a person’s health and can help them save money on bottled water.

(Vocus/PRWEB) November 15, 2010

Boca Raton, Fla. (Vocus) November 15, 2010 – Bawell, a leading provider of water ionizers for home use, today announced that customers who wish to experience the many benefits of having alkaline ionized water in their home can receive a unit for a free, risk-free 60-day trial. Customers who don’t find a benefit to having ionized water in their home can return the unit after 60 days at no charge.

Customers who use a pH-balanced alkaline water ionizer find great benefits over drinking regular tap water. Research has suggested that the scientific principles applied to drinking ionized water aid the body in mitigating and preventing many common diseases such as obesity, Type 1 diabetes and cancer.

Several research papers have supported the health benefits of drinking ionized water. Researchers at Soonchunhyang University in Korea found in 2006 that ionized drinking water contains millions of antioxidant hydroxyl ions in every glass which “protect against oxidative damage to DNA, RNA, and protein" by neutralizing free radicals within a body’s cells. This prevents free radical damage, which is one of the main hypothesis catalysts of aging and degenerative disease such as cancer. Another study found that ionized drinking water can improve blood glucose tolerance to ward off diabetes.

Processed foods contain toxins, chemicals, and preservatives, which are stored in the body as fat which is 90 percent water by weight. Alkaline water from a water ionizer is absorbed faster by the body’s cells due to its micro clustered molecular structure, allowing for fast rehydration as its millions of anti-oxidant hydroxyl ions rejuvenate the cellular structure.

“People who make the switch to Bawell water ionizers have found incredible health benefits, along with saving money on buying bottled water,” said Robert Strader Jr, PR Director at Bawell. “Plus, water from our ionizers simply tastes better than regular tap water. Our confidence in the many benefits of using a water ionizer is why we can make a risk-free guarantee.”

For more information on the different benefits of water ionizers and to find out more about the 60-day risk-free guarantee, please visit http://www. bawellwaterionizers. com.

Pharmacists Encourage Patients To Seek Their Guidance When Choosing OTC Medications

Pharmacists Encourage Patients To Seek Their Guidance When Choosing OTC Medications

Eighty-three percent of Patients Select OTC Products Recommended by Their Pharmacist

Washington, D. C. (Vocus) February 25, 2009

According to the most recent Pharmacy Today Over-the-Counter Product Survey conducted by the American Pharmacists Association (http://www. pharmacist. com/) (APhA), pharmacists believe that 83 percent of consumers purchase over-the-counter products that were recommended by their pharmacist. With more than 100,000 nonprescription medications on the market and more than 1,000 active ingredients, it's critical that patients consult their pharmacist to maximize the benefits from medications and minimize the potential for harmful drug interaction and/or side effects.

The survey, completed by nearly 1,000 APhA member and non-member pharmacists, also reveals that on average pharmacists counsel 31 patients per week about over the counter medications. Patients who seek their pharmacist's advice include patients suffering from an acute or chronic condition (92 percent), patients that are worried about using an OTC product with other prescription medications (84 percent), and patients worried about taking OTC products with a specific disease/condition (74 percent).

"Pharmacists are the only health professionals specifically trained in nonprescription medications," said John A. Gans, APhA's Chief Executive Officer. "Patients can take an active role in self care by reading medication labels, knowing the active ingredients in their medications, and asking their pharmacist questions."

One of APhA's goal in conducting the annual Pharmacy Today Over-the-Counter Product Survey is to educate consumers that pharmacists have the knowledge and training to help them select right OTC medications. As part of the survey, pharmacists are asked to tabulate the OTC products they recommend per week in 77 different product categories. The results of the survey are published as a supplement to the February issue of Pharmacy Today (http://www. pharmacytoday. org/index. htm). Click here to view the entire Pharmacy Today Over-the-Counter (http://www. pharmacytoday. org/index. htm) Supplement.

As the medication experts, pharmacists are trained in both prescription and over-the-counter medications and can provide patients with important information about how medications may interact with certain foods, other medicines or dietary supplements. Pharmacists are the most accessible health care providers and APhA encourages patients to actively seek their advice about the proper use of medications.

About the American Pharmacists Association (APhA)
The American Pharmacists Association (http://www. pharmacist. com/), founded in 1852 as the American Pharmaceutical Association, represents more than 62,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession. APhA, dedicated to helping all pharmacists improve medication use and advance patient care, is the first-established and largest association of pharmacists in the United States. APhA members provide care in all practice settings, including community pharmacies, health systems, long-term care facilities, managed care organizations, hospice settings, and the uniformed services.

The Plunging World Economy Shows No Signs of Coming to a Halt Anytime Soon

The Plunging World Economy Shows No Signs of Coming to a Halt Anytime Soon

John R. Talbott speaks to the financial epidemic that is sweeping the global economy... and how to protect yourself from it in his new book: CONTAGION

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2009

Bestselling author and former investment banker John Talbott has accurately predicted in great detail in his previous books much of the major financial and economic crisis we are currently facing.

Here are but a few of Talbott's latest predictions from his new book, Contagion.
Housing prices will continue down for another two to three years as the subprime mortgage crisis spreads to higher quality prime loans with some California cities seeing declines of as much as 58%.  The U. S. stock market will see new lows as there is no new credit available to support unnecessary consumption and everyone needs to decrease debt leverage.  Home prices in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Australia and New Zealand will collapse with declines of 40% or more.  China's economy will not only stall but its GDP will contract as there is no market for its exported manufactured goods.  Country bankruptcies are next with Russia and Venezuela on the brink with $40 oil and Argentina and Hungary not far behind.  Hundreds of municipal and state governments across the US will begin to claim bankruptcy as their property, income and sales tax revenues stall in the face of exploding retiree costs.  The current crisis will extend years and bleed into the retirement of the baby boom which will be extremely costly to GDP going forward insuring a very long-lived recession.

Talbott believes that the approaches taken to date to solve this crisis are only expensive bandaids that do nothing to address the underlying causes. He recommends:

1. Shutting down the $65 trillion Credit Default Swap market which is so interconnected that it makes almost every financial firm too big to fail and turns a capitalist free market system into a socialist system in which taxpayers prop up failing businesses.
2. Bank leverage that approached 25 to 35 times debt to equity ratios has to be reined in with global regulations preventing any bank from exceeding 10 times its equity base.
3. Managements must be made more accountable to shareholders and their motivations must be brought better in line with shareholders by increasing the power of outside directors on boards and fixing employee compensation so it has both upsides and downsides if too much risk is taken.
4. The reason the credit markets froze is because no one knows who holds which assets and what guarantees companies and banks have extended. Complete transparency is the key with all assets and liabilities and guarantees being disclosed for all financial institutions immediately on the internet.
5. Hedge funds and private equity firms have to be transparent and regulated immediately. The only real objection to greater transparency will be if these institutions are doing something illegal, either insider trading, market manipulation or avoiding capital adequacy ratios.
6. The only way to reduce leverage everywhere in an economy at once is to inflate one's currency. While painful economically, debt loads on businesses, banks and our government will retard growth for decades if not addressed now.
7. The most important thing government can do to address this crisis is to create a very rapid bankruptcy process for banks, businesses and individuals that will allow a restructuring of creditor claims in weeks, not years. It is ridiculous for taxpayers to put money into banks and businesses before their own debt investors take a single dollar haircut to their capital.
8. This financial crisis, as well as the problems we face in healthcare, global warming, energy policy, etc. cannot be effectively addressed until we stop corporate lobbying in Washington. The recent bailouts prove that corporations, not American citizens, still have a stranglehold on our elected representatives, which is the primary reason they were granted such latitude with deregulation that caused this mess to begin with.

In 2003, Talbott predicted the housing market collapse in his bestselling book, The Coming Crash in the Housing Market. In that book he warned that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's business models were unsustainable, predicted that the housing collapse would be national in scope and would threaten the very solvency of our largest financial institutions. In 2006, he foretold the peak in housing prices in Sell Now! The End of the Housing Bubble, a timely sequel to his bestseller in which he was widely vilified for suggesting that certain cities on our coasts could see home price declines as big as 58%, a number that now looks spookily conservative. This year, he insightfully probed the bottom-up economic policies that would guide Barack Obama to the White House in his book Obamanomics when everyone else was certain Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic Party nominee. Recently he has been a leading voice against Paulson's TARP plan, against giving free money to the auto companies and against bailouts, tax cuts and fiscal stimulus plans that will unsuccessfully try to prop our GDP up at unsustainable levels achieved over the last decade through massive borrowing and spending by consumers, businesses, banks and our government.

About the Author:

John R. Talbott is a former investment banker for Goldman Sachs in New York City and recently was a Visiting Scholar at UCLA's Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles. He has published six popular books in the field of economics and politics, numerous research papers on subjects as varied as global poverty, AIDS, the importance of democracy and a free press for global economic development and improving inequality in the world, and many newspaper and magazine articles. Talbott is regarded as the first person to warn the public about the current housing and mortgage mess in his 2003 book, The Coming Crash of the Housing Market. His January 2006 book, Sell Now! The End of the Housing Bubble, accurately predicted the absolute peak in the housing and mortgage markets. Talbott has appeared on CNN, Fox News, CNNfn, CNBC, CBS Marketwatch and in print in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Economic Times of India and the Boston Globe. His previous books were reviewed in the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times and he has spoken live on numerous nationally syndicated radio programs across the U. S. and Canada. Talbott graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and holds an MBA in finance from UCLA's Anderson School.
