ESP World 2000 - San Francisco, CA: The first in a major series of international conferences from Killen & Associates - Access Conferences International

ESP World 2000 - San Francisco, CA: The first in a major series of international conferences from Killen & Associates - Access Conferences International

August 4, 2000 (PRWEB) August 13, 2000 - Killen & Associates -

Access Conferences International, a new alliance between the Internet market research company and the international conference company, is pleased to announce ESP World 2000. "Electronic Statement Presentment: Generating, Managing and Profiting from eStatement Delivery," a major series of international conferences for the banking, brokerage, insurance, telecommunications, and utilities industries that need to communicate more effectively with customers and employees, will kick off in San Francisco, California, on September 28th and 29th 2000. ESP World 2000 conferences will follow in London, UK (October 9-10, 2000) and Singapore (December 6-7, 2000).

Enterprises spend over $200 billion printing and delivering financial and other statements to customers and employees. ESP World 2000 San Francisco will explore how airlines, financial institutions, hotels and other businesses can apply electronic statement presentment (ESP) approaches to eliminate paper. The benefits are improved communications and reduced costs. Killen & Associates predicts that enterprises that apply eTechnology to not only the B2B and B2C space (the customer space) but also to the B2E (Business-to-Employee) space are the ones that have the best chance to win in the Age of the Internet.

Michael Killen, Chairman and Founder of the research firm and Chairperson of ESP World 2000 series, says, "It is now time for all companies to think about the opportunity to apply eTechnology to empower both customers and employees."

Killen, who has helped thousands of enterprises worldwide appreciate the need to automate the purchasing of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) and to adopt electronic bill presentment and payments (EBPP), further says, "The advances in ESP (Electronic Statement Presentment) technologies now make it possible for all enterprises to empower customers and employees as never before."

Karl Schumacher, VP of docSense (a Pitney Bowes [Nasdaq:PBI] company) adds, "The company that presents information in a digital form to customers and employees not only delivers essential information faster than possible with paper or from monolithic ERP systems and traditional approaches to intranets, but also cut costs."

Glen Manchester, President and COO of Xenos [TSE:XNS] agrees: "Karl is right. Customers can click on an eStatement, eConfirmation, eBill, or eInvoice to gain answers to their questions, or to place a new order." Karl Schumacher says, "Yes, but remember, that when the stock broker, insurance agent, and other employees have access to up-to-the-minute customer activities, they have what they need to generate additional business. Besides, ESP technology improves the work experience by saving employees time in gaining access to information on health benefits, investments, health claims, travel and other expenses, as well as with management and organizational changes."

Presenters will include: Killen & Associates, Pitney Bowes, Canada Post, Middleware Software, Interface Systems, Texas A & M University, Empire Financial, Baltimore Technologies, Association of Information & Image Management, Robertson Stephens Investment House, Insci-Statements, Inc, iPlanet, Xenos, and Venture-encoding.

Topics at "Electronic Statement Presentment: Generating, Managing and Profiting from eStatement Delivery" will include:

To Remember the Tsunami Victims

It has been six months to the date since the killer tsunami struck the eastern coast of India and caused total devastation. Nagapattinam (PRWEB) June 29, 2005

It has been six months to the date since the killer tsunami struck the eastern coast of India and caused total devastation. People lost just about everything, including loved ones, friends and family apart from their homes, their means of living, their land, their boats and their livelihoods. As a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives in the tragedy, and a tribute to those who have survived and moved on, a multi-faith public meeting was organised at the CSI Matriculation School on Sunday, June 26, exactly six months after the tsunami.

Almost 1500 children were present at this ceremony, which marked the beginning of a new journey. The children lit candles, which symbolised the hope that their lives would attain normalcy. Religious heads from three different faiths addressed the secular gathering, as they instilled in them, the faith that life would continue, and re-emphasised that the people must have faith in themselves.

Speaking on the event, Dr. Jayakumar Christian, National Director, World Vision India said, “While remembering the people who lost their lives to the families, we also need to think about those who survived. This gathering is a tribute to their resilience. All the aid, the government’s efforts, the NGOs’ struggles would be for nothing, if not for the courage and drive of these people who have, in the shortest possible time, started building their lives again.”

In aid of those affected by the tsunami, World Vision India, a child focused, Christian relief and development organization working in partnership with the poor in India, has announced a relief outlay of Rs. 161 crore to help rehabilitate the tsunami survivors. World Vision has built 3184 temporary shelters in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Chennai. The budget outlay of Rs. 161 crore for this year has been pledged with the current focus on economic recovery programmes, infrastructure rehabilitation and psycho-social and educational support for children.

World Vision has identified 10 different sites in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Pondicherry and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for extensive relief work for the next 12 months. Within every site, World Vision will implement the four integrated projects of Individual & Community Rehabilitation, Infrastructure Reconstruction, Economic Recovery and Women & Health programmes.

World Vision was the first organisation to respond to the crisis when the tsunami struck the eastern coast of India. Within less than 24 hours after the disaster struck, the organisation mobilised as much as Rs. 9 crore for the immediate relief of more than 5000 families in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

About World Vision India:

THIRTEEN/WNET NEW YORK ANNOUNCES GREEN SQUAD, A NATIONAL ONLINE, ON-AIR INITIATIVE THAT PUTS KIDS AT THE FOREFRONT OF AMERICA'S GREEN MOVEMENT

Multi-Platform Project In Development For PBS

National Eco-Competition Begins With Launch Of Green Squad Web Site

National Public Television Broadcast To Air In Spring 2009

Thirteen/WNET New York, the most-watched public television station in America, today announces GREEN SQUAD - a new multi-platform initiative that will engage middle school-aged kids in the quest to make and keep America "green."

In GREEN SQUAD, teams of 12- to 14-year-olds from around the country will challenge friends, families, neighbors, and one another to make their community the "greenest" in America. From creating new ways to recycle and planting trees to hosting "green" car washes and organizing eco-themed social events, the teams will engage in a fun, exciting competition to raise awareness about the need to reduce carbon footprints and keep the planet healthy.

The GREEN SQUAD teams - chosen from a nationwide search - will share their progress with America through videos, photos and blogs they upload to a rich, highly interactive Web site, where viewers can support their favorite team, while also learning along with them. Visitors to the GREEN SQUAD site will also discover news and features about improving the environment, a place to add their own content, and instructional material for educators on global environmental issues.

Throughout the year, Thirteen/WNET will cover the competition, using its own cameras as well as footage produced by the teams themselves. This will become the basis for a broadcast miniseries to air nationally on public television in the spring of 2009.

With a nationally known host and a panel of celebrity judges, the starting group of 10-12 teams will be whittled down over four programs until the final face off. Beyond the broadcasts, GREEN SQUAD will also include a major educational outreach campaign through public television stations in communities across America, with a focus on engaging kids, schools and families to measure and reduce their carbon footprint.

"When kids talk about the environment, you can see the excitement and hope in their eyes," said Neal Shapiro, president and CEO of Thirteen/WNET. "There's a level of creativity and passion that's infectious. And there should be: this is the world they are going to have to live in! It also taps into their love of social networking. It's a win-win for kids and for the planet."

"Everything about this series is going to be new for public broadcasting and the country," said Ron Thorpe, Thirteen's vice president and director of Education. "We are in discussion with the nation's largest youth organizations, all of which have green interests and see this series as a natural extension of that work. We're talking about millions of kids and their families."

The GREEN SQUAD Web site will launch this spring (date TBA) in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning Celebration - an annual educational conference hosted by public broadcasters Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21 in New York City. This year's conference theme is "Science and Global Awareness."

Broadcast schedule and further details about the Web site, series and competition will be announced at a later date.

Thirteen/WNET New York is one of the key program providers for public television, bringing such acclaimed series as Nature, Great Performances, American Masters, Charlie Rose, Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, Wide Angle, Secrets of the Dead, NOW With David Brancaccio, and Cyberchase - as well as the work of Bill Moyers - to audiences nationwide. As the flagship public broadcaster in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut metro area, Thirteen reaches millions of viewers each week, airing the best of American public television along with its own local productions such as The Thirteen Walking Tours, New York Voices, Sunday Arts and Reel 13. Thirteen extends the impact of its television productions through educational and community outreach projects - including the Teaching and Learning Celebration - as well as Web sites and other digital media platforms. Exotic Wood Salvaged From Ships Finds New Life as Flooring

Pioneer Millworks recently introduced Malacca Straits, a reclaimed wood floor that offers a tapestry of hues unlike any other. This dynamic mix of Indonesian hardwoods was salvaged from the containerized shipping industry and given new life as precision milled solid 3” planks, resulting in a mosaic floor with colors ranging from deep red-browns, blondes, tans, light oranges to fawn and soft reds.

Farmington, NY (PRWEB) November 20, 2009

Pioneer Millworks recently introduced Malacca Straits, a reclaimed wood floor that offers a tapestry of hues unlike any other. This dynamic mix of Indonesian hardwoods was salvaged from the containerized shipping industry and given new life as precision milled solid 3” planks, resulting in a mosaic floor with colors ranging from deep red-browns, blondes, tans, light oranges to fawn and soft reds.

The hardness rank for Malacca Straits ranges from 1100 – 3500 on the Janka scale, and therefore withstands heavy foot traffic, and pets. As flooring Malacca Straits sells for $9/sq. ft. It is also well suited for paneling, furniture, and exterior decking and siding.

Malacca Straits takes its name from one of the world's most important shipping lanes — a narrow, 500 mile stretch of water between West Malaysia and Sumatra, and the main channel between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

“When you stop and think about where this wood comes from, the diversity in the species in this medley pays homage to the diversity of shipping vessels that pass through the strait each year. With such a variety of color and extreme durability we’re excited to add this to our eco-friendly products,” says Jered Slusser, wood expert at Pioneer Millworks.

If you’re interested in the character, story, and eco-friendliness of this or other reclaimed wood, visit www. pioneermillworks. com/Pages/Malacca-Straits. html (http://www. pioneermillworks. com/Pages/Malacca-Straits. html) or call 800-951-9663.

As the name reflects, Pioneer Millworks was a pioneer in the salvaged and reclaimed antique wood industry. They’re proud to give old wood new life as flooring, millwork, cabinetry, and more. They fully source and manufacture in the USA in Oregon and NY, in a way that’s healthy for you, their employees, and the environment. Their products offer ecologically conscious homeowners, designers, and builders an alternative to non-sustainable flooring without compromising quality, character, or selection. Pioneer Millworks is FSC certified and Green America approved. All of their products are LEED® point eligible.

M*Modal and Poiesis Informatics Partner to Integrate Advanced Speech Understanding Technology into Poiesis Workflow Orchestration Suite

M*Modal and Poiesis Informatics Partner to Integrate Advanced Speech Understanding Technology into Poiesis Workflow Orchestration Suite

New diagnostic reporting tool, FluencyTM, empowers PACS users with greater speech recognition options.

Pittsburgh, PA (Vocus/PRWEB) November 28, 2010

M*Modal, the industry leader in advanced Speech UnderstandingTM technology, and Poiesis Informatics, a developer of integrated healthcare IT workflow solutions, today announced a partnership that will integrate M*Modal’s Speech UnderstandingTM technology into the Poiesis Workflow Orchestration Suite. FluencyTM, the recently launched speech-driven diagnostic reporting tool for PACS users, is the first Poiesis product to utilize the M*Modal platform.

FluencyTM provides PACS users with an alternative to existing speech recognition products: a clinical documentation solution that uses sophisticated speech and clinical reporting technologies, and can be tightly integrated into an existing PACS system to create an optimized workflow experience resulting in high-quality, meaningful documents. Leveraging M*Modal’s sophisticated Speech UnderstandingTM technology, the advanced diagnostic reporting and clinical documentation solution works to improve accuracy and reduce corrections by continually understanding context and adapting to physicians’ speech patterns. Additionally, FluencyTM supports embedding images of pertinent findings into the diagnostic report, a capability that improves efficiency and communication between radiologists and referring physicians.

Poiesis leverages its extensive experience in healthcare software development and professional services to create an optimized workflow experience through rich interoperability between disparate healthcare systems that contain critical information necessary to support complex workflow models. Their approach to creating user-driven customized solutions for customers is supported by their informatics expertise and keen understanding of the obstacles healthcare providers encounter in modern healthcare.

Providing a unified platform that combines superior speech recognition capabilities with Natural Language Processing (NLP), M*Modal’s industry-leading Speech UnderstandingTM technology turns physician dictation into structured, encoded, and shareable data. This data can be used to generate alerts and other information needed to drive medical actions. The advanced speech technology platform adapts to the radiologist’s workflow patterns and allows flexibility of use, supporting both self-editing and transcription-based workflow models and the ability to use voice-driven templates and macros.

“M*Modal’s Speech UnderstandingTM technology is unlike its competitors in that it takes speech recognition and clinical documentation to the next level of guiding actionable care,” said Claudine Martin, president of Poiesis Informatics. “The close integration of our technologies and the future-thinking mindset of our two companies are encouraging as we look forward to providing options for customers that will make substantial improvements to the way they provide care.”

“We are pleased to partner with Poiesis to support their innovative approach to the radiology industry. Speech UnderstandingTM powering the Fluency product creates a very powerful reporting tool with immediate benefits for radiologists and their organizations,” said Michael Finke, CEO of M*Modal.

Dyrand Systems Signs on ISOMEDIA as an MSSP Partner

Dyrand Systems Signs on ISOMEDIA as an MSSP Partner

Dyrand Systems announced today that ISOMEDIA has signed on to DyrandÂ’s Managed Security Services Partnership program (MSSP) for ISPs. DyrandÂ’s MSSP enables ISPs to meet the critical network security needs of their customers, by leveraging SonicWALLÂ’s industry-leading security products.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) March 8, 2005

March 8, 2005 Dyrand Systems Inc, a leading provider of Managed Network & Security services, announced today that ISOMEDIA of Redmond, Washington and NetRover, ISOMEDIA's Canadian subsidiary, have signed on to DyrandÂ’s Managed Security Services Partnership program (MSSP) for ISPs.

DyrandÂ’s MSSP enables ISPs to confidently meet the critical security needs of their customers, by leveraging SonicWALLÂ’s industry-leading security products. Through the MSSP program, partners can seize new revenue opportunities by rapidly expanding their existing portfolio of products and services with minimal start up costs.

IDC estimates the market for Managed Services to reach $21.7 billion by 2007. “By partnering with an experienced Managed Security Service Provider such as Dyrand Systems, we are able to instantly tap into the rapidly growing Managed Services market. Large national ISPs such as Verizon and SBC have expanded into Managed Services because of the revenue potential and we certainly don’t want to miss out on this opportunity”, says Bruce Straughan, President and CEO of ISOMEDIA.

Dyrand Systems is able to offer this unique opportunity to ISPs in concert with SonicWALL, a leading provider of integrated network security products for the SMB market. “Threats to network security are becoming increasingly complex, but at the same time the success of companies, whatever their size, is dependent on uncompromised data and voice networks. The MSSP program offers the twofold benefit of enabling organizations without IT or security expertise to focus on their areas of core competence, and helping our channel partners to establish a predictable, recurring revenue model which will help them succeed,” said Matthew Medeiros, President the CEO of SonicWALL.

“Companies buying Managed Services are subscribing to peace of mind. We have been providing Managed Services to small and medium sized organizations for almost four years. With this new MSSP Program we are able to leverage our expertise as a Managed Service Provider by providing mid-market ISPs such as ISOMEDIA with a proven way to participate in the lucrative Managed Services market. ”

DyrandÂ’s Managed Network Service provides small and medium sized companies with all the benefits of a full-time IT department for less than the cost of a single employee.

Experts Predict DNA Test for HPV Will Become New Gold Standard in Detection

Experts Predict DNA Test for HPV Will Become New Gold Standard in Detection

A new molecular test, called the "HC2 High-Risk HPV DNA Test," works to identify the "DNA footprint" of HPV. Pathology expert Dr. Shashi Pawar describes how the molecular screening test is the best future predictor for cervical cancer.

Plainview, NY (PRWEB) February 6, 2008

Recent research has confirmed the virus that causes the vast majority of cervical cancer cases - the Human Papillomavirus - is also the most common sexually transmitted disease in the U. S. Studies show that more than one in four women ages 14-59, and half of all women in their early 20s, are infected. In fact, researchers maintain that approximately 80% of American women will become infected with HPV by the time they're 50. What's more, because the virus can lay dormant and asymptomatic for years, many of those who have HPV are most likely unaware of it.

"The danger in harboring HPV undetected is, of course, the threat of cervical cancer, which is the second most common cancer in women in the U. S.," explains Dr. Shashi Pawar, PhD, DABMG, and the Director of Genetics at Acupath Laboratories in New York. Cervical cancer strikes approximately 10,000 women each year, and causes nearly 4,000 deaths annually.

"The traditional PAP exam will tell us when cancerous or precancerous cells are present; however, it cannot predict whether or not cancer is likely to develop based on the presence of HPV," Dr. Pawar continues. "When we know the cause of cancer, as we do in this case, it means that half the battle is already won."

A New Gold Standard in Detection and Prevention
The molecular test, called the "HC2 High-Risk HPV DNA Test," works by identifying the "DNA footprint" of the virus itself. "This test can tell us whether or not HPV is present, and if it is, it also can tell us if the HPV strain is one of the 13 high-risk types we know can cause cervical cancer - out of more than 100 known strains of the virus," Dr. Pawar adds. In particular, two strains of HPV are known to cause nearly three quarters of all cervical cancer cases. The test can usually be performed concurrently with a liquid cytology PAP, in order to provide both a current cervical health report and a predictive measure of future risk.

"While the High-Risk HPV DNA Test is a critical development in the early detection of the cause of cervical cancer, prevention is even more crucial," Dr. Pawar points out. HPV is one of the most challenging viruses to contain, however. Because it can cause genital warts that can proliferate throughout the pelvic region, prophylactics are not an effective barrier against transmission. Moreover, Dr. Pawar notes, "The most recent studies indicating surprisingly high infection rates among young women suggest that sexual activity is beginning earlier, when women are not as aware of the consequences of infection with HPV and other STDs."

An HPV vaccine (Gardasil) is FDA-approved for girls and women ages 9-26, and the Centers for Disease Control has recommended it be administered to all girls between ages 11 and 12. Another similar vaccine is expected to be approved later this spring. Dr. Pawar explains, "Although there have been recent reports about girls' reticence to have the vaccine due to the pain and the regimen of multiple injections, the future benefit of preventing a much more painful - and sometimes fatal - cancer far outweighs the momentary discomfort."

The Future of Cervical Cancer Detection
A panel of experts at the 23rd Annual International Human Papillomavirus Conference predicted that, as vaccination compliance expands, the High-Risk HPV DNA Test would eclipse the traditional PAP exam as the primary cervical cancer screening tool. Dr. Pawar concurs, "Even when we have achieved a high percentage of girls and young women getting the vaccine, we cannot stop testing for cervical cancer." However, she adds, "We will need to consider how we screen women, and the most accurate and efficient way will be with this simple, precise test."

TEAMS Express from ISSI Improves Use Tax Exemption Control, Accountability and Transparency

ISSI is demonstrating the tangible impact from TEAMS Express on use tax exemption handling within Accounts Payable at the 2009 International Accounts Payable Professionals Annual Forum. TEAMS Express software for use tax and sales tax exemption management provides an automated framework for controlling the issuance and management of use tax exemption certificates. Resource strapped companies can achieve greater management control over their use tax exposure and risk, limit use tax accruals, share valuable tax expertise with A/P when they need it and properly defend state use tax audits by using TEAMS Express.

Hudson, Ohio (PRWEB) April 22, 2009

TEAMS Express software from ISSI limits use tax accruals, reduces state use tax audit assessments, enhances management control and transparency over use tax handling while sharing valuable tax expertise with A/P when they need it. Philip C. Hodge, Founder and CEO, and David M. Muchewicz, CPA with MCE SALT Solutions, LLP are speaking on how manufacturers and distributors are saving time, money and staffing at the 2009 International Accounts Payable Professionals Annual Forum by optimizing their approach towards use tax exemptions through software. Imaging Science and Services, Inc. (ISSI), http://www. issimage. com/ (http://www. issimage. com/), is highlighting the tangible risk reduction, control and impact when using TEAMS Express for use tax exemption management at the show.

TEAMS Express simplifies the use tax exemption process by documenting each use tax-exempt transaction as it occurs with a simple and secure web-based tool. TEAMS Express ensures that a complete and correct use tax exemption certificate is prepared and presented to the vendor by A/P or procurement. This electronic record streamlines the monthly or quarterly use tax accrual process as it provides complete documentation for all of the details of the transaction and its eligibility for use tax exemption.

The TEAMS Express workflow is flexible and can include optional review by management or the tax department before the transaction is completed. Consequently, taxability decisions can be made appropriately and consistently without overburdening A/P or the tax department. Management has complete visibility and control over the process. The automated framework also provides transparency that can support SOX compliance for publicly traded companies.
Lastly, TEAMS Express for use tax provides the first line of defense when preparing for and defending state use tax audits.

Adaptive Marketing LLC Offers Consumers Five Important Fitness Tips

Adaptive Marketing LLC Offers Consumers Five Important Fitness Tips

Adaptive Marketing suggests that a clear set of guidelines is essential for any exercise regimen.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) June 23, 2008

Adaptive Marketing LLC (http://www. adaptivemarketing. com/corpro_benefits_ops. asp), an industry leader in membership programs, knows that many people need a bit of extra motivation to go to the gym or engage in any other kind of physical activity. Among the reasons for this inactivity are laziness, poor time management and little knowledge of the best ways to get the most out of their workout.

A fair number of people do indeed add exercise to their routine, and make time to walk, jog or go to the gym a couple of times a week, but many get discouraged easily, particularly when they don't see the results as quickly as they expected. When it comes to fitness, Adaptive Marketing (http://www. adaptivemarketing. com/ap9/at-home-rewards. asp) believes in one important premise: Information and a clear strategy are key to get results.

Getting the most out of any workout is relatively easy if clear guidelines are set and re-evaluated every couple of months. Here are five important tips to keep in mind to achieve success with any workout regimen, put together by Adaptive Marketing (http://www. dealpass. com/Page/adaptive-marketing-dealpass. aspx):

1. Eat healthy. It's not about not eating at all and working out seven times a week. It's about balance. The body needs fuel to get energy, and dietary choices should not be taken lightly. Raw vegetables and steamed dishes are good choices, while fried or high-in-sugar foods should be avoided as much as possible.

2. Work out often. Try to train two to four times a week, with sessions ranging from 20 minutes to an hour. Bear in mind in mind that it's the quality (not the quantity) of the time spent training that determines how quickly the results appear.

3. Mix it up. Any training regimen should cover all the necessary elements: cardiovascular (such as aerobics, running, skipping rope, etc.), resistance training (weights or own body exercises, such as press-ups), and stretching. Varying the routine will help target all the body muscles and will definitely add some spice to gym visits.

4. Equipment isn't required. Everyone should learn to exercise without equipment. Desired results can be achieved by using one's body weight for doing lunges, squats, press-ups, and a variety of sit-ups and stretching exercises.

5. No pain, no gain. It's essential to engage the muscles completely and to make sure that the last two or three reps of any exercise (say, sets of twelve lunges) are so challenging that it feels almost impossible to complete another one. Within time, a person might need to raise the amount of weight to further engage the muscles and continue producing results.

Working with a personal trainer or consulting with a nutritionist are also recommended for those who are serious about making fitness and healthy eating a part of their lives. Making fitness a part of life is not hard if the right steps are taken, reports Adaptive Marketing (http://www. adaptivemarketingblog. typepad. com/).

Newly Launched Site For Reclaiming Lost Pets

Newly Launched Site For Reclaiming Lost Pets

The Pet Rescue is continually striving to increase awareness into the plights of animals. One of their major plights is getting separated from their families. Since animals cannot talk, we want to help them find their way back to their homes.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) September 3, 2005

Pets are lost at an alarming rate. Over 80,000 pets go missing every day with only 18% of them ever getting returned. These vulnerable little members of our families are traumatized without a means in which to communicate how to get them back to their families.

The Pet Rescue llc will send lists of lost and found pets to all veterinarians, pet shelters, and pet-related centers for the local areas. It is the only service which aggressively advertises all lost and found animals with photos throughout the US and Canada. They cooperate and exchange help with all pet-related services. They offer many free services; listings of veterinarians, pet shelters, adopt-a-pets which are local to each state.

Their site offers a forum which allows pet owners to exchange thoughts with each other about anything and everything. They even have their own little weekly magazine, Paw Prints Weekly, which has animal-related news and helpful hints in maintaining healthy pets. Mary Heiler, managing member, states, "I think the problem has been evident to many considering over 3,300 pets disappear every hour in the US alone. But it takes a lot of cooperative effort." They are proud of being the first of this much needed service to promote the return of lost animals on such a broad scale utilizing cooperative efforts. Heiler expects The Pet Rescue to generate such interest that volunteers will be needed to assist to help bring the pets back home to their families.

Please check out the website at www. thepetrescue. com. They hope you won't be needing their "lost and found pet" service but hope you will utilize the other services available on the site.

MetricStream Achieves Record Revenue Growth in 2009 with Global Customer Adoption of its Enterprise GRC Platform and Solutions

MetricStream Achieves Record Revenue Growth in 2009 with Global Customer Adoption of its Enterprise GRC Platform and Solutions

MetricStream achieves over a 75% growth in annual sales.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) February 3, 2010

Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) (http://www. metricstream. com/solutions/solutions. htm) leader MetricStream (http://www. metricstream. com) today announced significant growth in 2009, achieving over a 75% increase in sales over 2008 combined with record profits. MetricStream’s growth was fueled by companies prioritizing their need to drive business performance by better managing ever increasing complex risk scenarios and compliance requirements. This resulted in both new implementations as well as a high number of replacement implementations. In 2009, MetricStream saw a large number of customers that replaced their existing solutions, from some of its leading competitors, with MetricStream solutions. Research conducted among such customers highlighted three primary reasons they chose to move away from other GRC solutions: lack of scalability, expensive upgrades, and poor vendor responsiveness.

Integrated GRC Drives Momentum: MetricStream’s strongest growth came from corporations that needed either integrated GRC solutions right at the start of their initiatives or needed best-of-breed applications in one or two areas (such as Audits, Risk, Compliance, Policy Management, Environmental Management and Quality Management) but were looking to lay a strong foundation for compliance programs by investing in the right IT architecture that could be extended over time for integrated enterprise-wide GRC. As an example, one of the largest utility companies in the US embraced MetricStream to manage SOX, FERC, NERC, Environmental, ERM, Audits and Corporate and IT Policy programs on a common platform.

Growth in Key Industry Verticals: A large number of customers in several regulated industries like Financial Services, Healthcare, Utilities and Energy, Life Sciences, Retail among others turned to MetricStream in 2009. These included some of the largest companies in the world that are market leaders in their industries.

Global Footprint Expands: Outside North America, MetricStream significantly enhanced its presence and penetration in Europe, Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia. MetricStream’s network of alliance and channel partners played an integral role in driving sales globally. A number of strategic initiatives included partnerships with leading systems integrators, resellers and an increasing focus on third-party channels to fuel future growth.

Product Innovation: Continued investment in the GRC platform and solutions was directed towards greater scalability and ease of use. Significant product enhancements were made around embedding and integrating regulatory content, architecting a robust and flexible data model for granular management of GRC information and further simplifying integration with enterprise systems. In 2009, MetricStream replaced incumbent SOX, Internal Audit, Risk and Policy Management solutions at several Global 100 companies due to functional superiority of its products and technological excellence of its platform.

Bringing Social Media to the Forefront of GRC: MetricStream was honored by Forrester in 2009 with the Forrester Groundswell Award that recognized ComplianceOnline. com’s excellence in harnessing the power of the community (regulators, domain experts and GRC and Quality Management practitioners) to organize information around GRC. Several million professionals now use ComplianceOnline. com to get information, training and content on different aspects of GRC. The portal has over 1,000 online training courses and over 5 million pieces of content available to its users. These are also integrated with MetricStream applications to provide seamless access to information and best practices to solution users.

Continued Market Recognition: Leading research firm Gartner Inc. in 2009 placed MetricStream in the Leaders Quadrant in its "Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Platforms" research report. MetricStream was also cited as a ‘Leader’ by Forrester Research in the report – “The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Platforms, Q3 2009”. MetricStream also executed several successful engagements establishing thought leadership in association with organizations such as The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Standard & Poor’s (S&P), Open Compliance & Ethics Group (OCEG), Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) and Horasis, The Global Visions Community, Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (SCCE), Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA).

Leadership: Chairman Gunjan Sinha played a critical role in various national and international forums joining government leaders, policy makers and business executives to advocate GRC and Sustainability as a key component of business strategy. He was invited to be a featured speaker at premier events such as the Horasis Global Business Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal and Munich, Germany and the Boao Forum for Asia in China. Shellye Archambeau, CEO, continued championing public policy and government-related issues as the member of the board of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) in addition to her ongoing participation in various national initiatives around education, clean-tech and transportation policies. She was also named as one of 50 Most Important African-Americans in Technology in an annual listing. General Manager and CFO, Gaurav Kapoor - a recognized thought leader in GRC and Social Media - presented at a number of premiere events and industry conferences independently as well as in association with organizations like IIA, OCEG, PRIMIA and others professional bodies.

"Throughout 2009 we executed on a profitable growth strategy to enhance our market leadership and brand in GRC by investing in our customers, platform, solutions, content, and people," said Shellye Archambeau, CEO of MetricStream. "We saw excellent performance in 2009 and that has set the stage for a very strong 2010 and beyond.”

The Doctors TV Show Discusses Potential Role of the CVAC Process in Reducing Diabetes Risk

The Doctors TV Show Discusses Potential Role of the CVAC Process in Reducing Diabetes Risk

CVAC™ Systems, Inc. has developed a natural, noninvasive approach to potentially treat metabolic disorders including insulin resistance and diabetes. It combines simulated altitude to trigger high-altitude adaptation and simulated total body resistance training..

Temecula, Calif. (PRWEB) March 20, 2009

CVAC Systems, Inc.: The Doctors TV Show, which airs via the CBS network, will air a segment Monday, March 23 to talk about the CVAC™ process and its potential use in helping to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Karen Herbst, MD, PhD, an Endocrinologist affiliated with the UCSD Medical Center and the VA San Diego Healthcare System, discussed this new modality being investigated for utility in reducing insulin resistance and risk of diabetes.

The cyclic variations in altitude conditioning™ (CVAC™) process is a rhythm-based sequencing of pressure profiles that cycle both pressure and temperature at prescribed frequencies.

The CVAC process is delivered via a single-occupant altitude simulator; a contained and variable-controlled environment. A CVAC session is expected to provide an exercise environment for the entire body without the effort of exercise. "We expect it will be shown that CVAC is another form of very effective exercise; with benefit in improving an individual's physical fitness, and amelioration of insulin resistance. In other words, it may provide great metabolic changes without the use of drugs," says Allen Ruszkowski, President & CEO of CVAC Systems, Inc. Proper diet and exercise are key in reducing risk of diabetes.

About Karen L. Herbst, PhD, MD
Dr. Herbst is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Program Director, Endocrinology at UCSD. She is affiliated at UCSD Medical Center, Hillcrest (San Diego) and the Center for Metabolic Research at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System. By purchasing Green Tags, or renewable energy credits through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, HimalaSalt is now the first ever natural Himalayan sea salt company in America to be 100% certified Green-e, sustainably packaged, and certified Kosher, with 5% of their profits going to the environment and the source community.

By offsetting the environmental impact and 100% of their energy use, HimalaSalt is creating the equivalent of planting over 28 acres of cool green trees annually, representing an annual savings of over 200,000 lbs of greenhouse gas emmissions (primarily carbon dioxide).

About HimalaSalt

HimalaSalt™ is the first product of Sustainable Sourcing, LLC. It's an extremely pure primordial pink sea salt, sourced from deep within the exotic and remote Himalayas. This rare primordial sea salt of 250 million years ago remains free of impurities, unlike refined table salt or salt from today's widely polluted oceans.

Kushi, who spent years researching the purest source, said, “The sea that produced HimalaSalt is of an utterly pure age, protected from pollution deep within the pristine Himalayas, it's hand-harvested, stone ground, the best available - today’s oceans are incapable of producing a sea salt of this quality.”

Kushi explains, "We carry a replica of Earth's ancient ocean in our blood; HimalaSalt restores the natural alkaline balance crucial to health by providing the essential minerals of which our bodies are made, and require for wellbeing. And just as organic whole foods are best for people and planet, you want your salt to be whole, too."

HimalaSalt is unrefined with no additives, unlike common table salt, which is chemically stripped of all minerals and laced with anti-caking and flow agents, rarely disclosed to consumers (a loophole in the FDA regulations). Table salt is associated with health problems -- whole salt is associated with vitality and wellbeing. Premier chefs around the country have discovered it for other qualities, namely how its rich, deep flavor enhances good food.

About the Founder

Melissa Kushi, a southern farmgirl whose passion for pure foods lead her to the Kushi Institute, the premier macrobiotic center, where she became steeped in Eastern philosophy and wholefoods cooking. She has spent the better part of her adult life traveling the world’s most remote and deeply cultured regions. While she created bamboo micro-industries in rural Africa, replaced coca crops with organic cotton in the jungles of Peru and introduced heirloom soybean seeds to organic farmers in the U. S., she saw clearly that -- as the third word seeks balance for survival, the first world seeks balance for meaning. She created Sustainable Sourcing as a means for nourishing both.

“Promoting renewable energy is a natural extension of our company's mission. From the world's most remote, pristine lands, we ethically source, sustainably package, natural products that are purely delicious and physically nourishing. Being 100% climate-neutral reinforces our commitment to protecting the planet while improving the lives of our customers and our producers," Melissa Kushi explains.

About Bonneville Environmental Foundation

The Bonneville Environmental Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established in 1998 to restore watershed ecosystems and further the development and use of new renewable energy resources. Through revenues generated from the sale of green power products, BEF funds projects that restore damaged watersheds and support new renewable energy projects from solar, wind and biomass. BEF pioneered the sale of Green Tags in 2000 and has helped establish national standards for certification and trading. More information is available on the web at www. b-e-f. org.

SupplementsToGo. com Ships Its 300,000th Order

In the aftermath of the Dot Bomb era, some companies have grown and thrived. At least one company has managed to do just that. www. Supplementstogo. com has been able to succeed where many others have failed in the online retail industry.

Union, KY (PRWEB) April 6, 2007

In the era of the Dot Bomb, some companies have thrived. At least one company has managed to do that. www. Supplementstogo. com has been able to succeed where many others have failed in internet industry. SupplementsToGo. com was started in 2001 by Joe Godar, who created it to boost the vitamin and nutritional supplement sales of his fitness center in Cincinnati OH. Fitness training, bodybuilding, and exercise go hand in hand with nutritional supplements. Persons who enjoy looking young and healthy achieve this by exercise and good nutrition, which includes regular vitamin supplementation. They carry over 5000 different products from every manufacturer.

Of course there are others who want to push the envelope of body conditioning, bodybuilders. These are men and women who strive to make their muscles as large and as lean as they possibly can. Supplements To Go has products for these customers as well, from items like creatine, prohormones, protein powder, and vitamins.

With over 60% of the US being overweight, the online retailer has over 2000 diet pills and weightloss products available to the consumer.

The older generation has not been forgotten at Supplement To Go either. They carry many anti-aging, antioxidant, and age defying supplements for the elderly. Older people should especially pay attention to their nutritional needs. Calcium, digestive enzymes, and antioxidants are all neglected areas for seniors. The website is easy to use so even the beginner can make a purchase without effort.

Www. Supplementstogo. com expanded its operation and moved to AZ. It acquired two other online supplement retailers and ramped up operations to become one of the premier vitamin retailers on the web today. With new management in place the company is set to explode in 2007. They are the title sponsor of the Ms Fitness USA and The MS Fitness World.

Supplementstogo. com just shipped its 300,000th order, with the majority of those orders being shipped in the last year. Fred Auzenne, who is the CEO of Supplementstogo. com says, "The time has come for the consumers of the world. With the low overhead we have we can bring quality vitamin and health supplements to customers at nearly 50% what it would cost in the bricks and mortar nutritional stores."

Supplements to go also has the advantage of warehousing the products on site, so that most orders ship the day they come in, and can be at the customers door the next day. With free online help, diets, recipes, forums, blogs, and online personal training available, the website is a one stop destination for anyone who loves health and fitness.

"I have personally used their website and found it very easy to navigate and the prices were extremely low. The online help was fantastic, I actually copied a few diets to help me shed a few pounds. I can fully recommend this website to others." - AL Alexander

Product Innovation Drives US Craniomaxillofacial Device Market

Product Innovation Drives US Craniomaxillofacial Device Market

According to the new report entitled US Markets for Craniomaxillofacial Devices 2006, this market, which includes CMF plate and screw fixation, cranial flap fixation, facial distraction, temporomandibular joint replacement devices and bone graft substitutes used in CMF indications was valued at over $180 million in 2005.

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) June 27, 2006

Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, reports that an aging population, increased adoption of premium-priced bioresorbable devices, and product innovation will drive the US craniomaxillofacial (CMF) device market.

Cranial flap fixation devices are composed of either metal or bioresorbable materials. Metal devices are typically stronger and less expensive than their bioresorbable counterparts and therefore have been the preferred choice for use in adult patients. In contrast, bioresorbables are used predominantly in pediatrics because, for younger patients, the presence of a long-term metal device in the cranium is less desirable.

MRG’s US Markets for Craniomaxillofacial Devices 2006 report covers various key industry competitors, such as Synthes (SYST. VX), W. Lorenz Surgical (BMET), Stryker Leibinger (SYK), KLS Martin, Osteomed, Medtronic (MDT), Codman (JNJ), Aesculap, TMJ Concepts and TMJ Implants.

About Cranial Flap Fixation

The section of the skull that is excised and replaced during a craniotomy is known as the cranial flap. Once the craniotomy is completed, the cranial flap may be secured to the surrounding skull with wire sutures (which are used only in rare cases) or cranial flap fixators (clamps), and the scalp is closed with sutures and staples.

Planning for Taxes Now Can Reap Benefits, Bills. com President Says

Planning for Taxes Now Can Reap Benefits, Bills. com President Says

Review 5 areas before Dec. 31 to plan income tax filing strategy

San Mateo, Calif. (PRWEB) January 5, 2009

An important, but often neglected, tax deadline is looming this month, said Bills. com president Ethan Ewing: Many actions must be taken before the end of this year, and still others require careful advance planning, to achieve hoped-for tax benefits when filing returns next year.

"Now is the time to take action," Ewing said. "To get the most from your tax planning, it is wise to take a step back and understand your tax position before the end of the calendar year."

Tax goal-setting is all the more important in a year like this one, which has presented a roller-coaster ride of unexpected financial activity. Here are a few ways to begin:
1) Get facts straight. Before the year is up, organize receipts and data. Spend a few minutes every week sorting and compiling information to lessen the burden come April.

2) Do a test run. Obtain a copy of last year's tax form and complete it with 2008 data to estimate this year's obligations. Those who purchase tax return software can use that. Or go to www. irs. gov and search for the form. Taxpayers can download a version of the form and fill it out.

3) Maximize deductions. Deductions come in a variety of flavors. Review your options, as well as previous years' tax returns, to understand which options might apply. Check with a tax advisor to make wise choices. Some items to consider:
Plan donations to nonprofit organizations of money, old or unneeded vehicles, clothing and household items, or stocks or other investments. Be sure to obtain any appraisals or valuations needed to list these contributions accurately, per IRS guidelines. Make any planned donations far enough in advance of Dec. 31 to ensure they are received and logged in time to count for 2008 deductions; it is easy to delay these till it is too late, or forget about them once the holidays start in earnest.  Check flexible spending account balances. If a balance remains unused, check whether you can make relevant purchases to use the money before you lose it. Consider purchasing medications or contact lenses, seeing the dentist, or investing in any other needed medical or dental care.  Check health insurance deductibles and medical expenditures. If an expensive procedure is on the horizon and you have reached or nearly reached the deductible, consider scheduling the procedure in 2008 rather than 2009 to maximize benefits. Similarly, medical and dental expenses that total more than 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income are usually tax deductible. If expenses are near that benchmark, consider receiving other needed care to be able to deduct some of these costs.  Check retirement contributions. Greater savings means greater deductions (to the extent regulations allow). And with stocks low, it could be a great time to invest for the future for some individuals.  Pay ahead on student loans. If you have not maxed out deductible student loan interest, paying extra on loans might provide for additional deductions. 4) Estimate how the economy will impact taxes. Check on investments to understand losses from any sales. If you are self-employed, clergy, or for other reasons must pay estimated income taxes, estimate earnings for 2009 to sketch out estimated tax payments for next year. Those who have lost work, for instance, might find total tax owed to be significantly less. "Figure out what you owe and when. Then you will not put yourself in a bind by paying too much in estimated taxes early in the year," Ewing cautioned.

5) Get help if you need it. "If you owe back taxes, or if you are afraid that you will not be able to meet your tax obligations for this year, seek help from tax debt resolution specialists who are skilled in dealing with the IRS," Ewing said. For more information, visit www. freedomtaxrelief. com.

"By the time the New Year arrives, you will already be halfway to the perennial resolution of being more organized when it comes to taxes," Ewing said. "Most importantly, you will know you are doing your best to maximize your cash flow during these trying financial times."

“Having the chance to explain the many benefits of working with Costa Rican Medical Care to the hundreds of insurance agents, brokers, and consultants attending this show is a great opportunity for us. A very large percentage of these professionals are trusted advisors with their health insurance clients who are looking to them to offer quality solutions at an affordable cost. We believe that medical tourism to the country we specialize in, Costa Rica, is a very attractive option for their clients”, said Tim Morales, President of Costa Rican Medical Care.

Lake Geneva, WI (PRWEB) June 23, 2010

Costa Rican Medical Care, a medical tourism facilitator specializing in the country of Costa Rica, will be exhibiting at the National Association of Health Underwriters’ Annual Convention and Exhibition in Chicago from June 27th-29th.

John Garven, past president of the Illinois State Association of Health Underwriters and owner of Benico, Ltd., a Chicago area employee benefit consulting firm, will be joining Mr. Morales and other colleagues at the Costa Rican Medical Care booth. “My firm’s clients are looking for credible ideas around cost-effectively providing high quality medical care”, said Garven. “After having attended the First Latin American Global Medicine and Wellness Congress in San Jose, Costa Rica, at the end of April and personally visiting a number of Costa Rica’s private clinics and hospitals, I am convinced that Costa Rican Medical Care is able to deliver the cost-effective quality that my clients are looking for in terms of a medical treatment alternative. I highly recommend that my NAHU colleagues become more informed about this opportunity by visiting us at booth 232 in the Exhibit Hall”.

About Costa Rican Medical Care: The Costa Rican Medical Care program is simple and stress-free. We provide patients with answers to their questions and let them know upfront the approximate cost of their medical tourism experience. Patients (and their companions, if any) are picked up at the airport by an English-speaking guide. Hotel accommodations are carefully selected to provide convenience to the patient. The guide accompanies the patient to and from their doctor appointments. Following surgery and recovery our counselors will arrange for any further rehab or care that might be needed, and contract with an in-home service in the U. S. to provide further care, if needed.

Sampling of Costa Rican Medical Care Services: Bariatric Surgery, Angioplasty, Heart By-Pass, Hip and Knee Replacement, Ophthalmology, Medical Check Ups, Dental Care, and Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery are some of the many healthcare services that are available at a fraction of the cost of such care in the United States.

Rising Star of UK Lighting Design Gets Green Light from Photonic Products

Rising Star of UK Lighting Design Gets Green Light from Photonic Products

Photonic Products Ltd, the laser diode specialist company, is proud to be sponsoring Paul Cocksedge, the keynote speaker at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. Paul Cocksedge is one of the UKÂ’s hottest new lighting designers.

(PRWEB) September 7, 2005

Photonic Products Ltd, the laser diode specialist company, is proud to be sponsoring Paul Cocksedge, the keynote speaker at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, September 22-23, 2005, in Toronto.

Paul Cocksedge is one of the UKÂ’s hottest new lighting designers. He will present his revolutionary lighting designs plus an overview of the latest products, designers, innovations in technology and emerging lighting trends coming out of the UK today.

“Crystallize”, designed by Paul Cocksedge for the Swarovski Crystal Palace Collection, is a chandelier made from light. When there is no light the chandelier disappears. Using lasers and crystals in perfect alignment, the iconic shape of a Swarovski crystal is drawn in mid air. At the heart of the chandelier is a single crystal which sparkles as it catches the light.

The development of this chandelier was made using Photonic ProductsÂ’ green laser modules.

The 532nm DPSS green laser module is a compact, self-contained module designed for use where a highly visible beam is required, primarily in alignment and also machine vision, industrial inspection and scientific equipment.

It produces a very visible circular output beam of less than 2.0mm diameter and output powers of 0.9mW and 4mW with a maximum operating current of 250mA. Power stability is better than 5% over 7 hours. Modulation capability of 0-1kHz is standard. In addition, the module uses a front facet monitor photodiode to maintain a stable output power, as opposed to using the internal monitor of the laser diode, which is often less responsive.

IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is Canada's largest conference and exposition for the design, construction and management of the built environment. This presentation is a keynote lecture in the “Exposure to Light” program focused on lighting and takes place on Thursday, September 22.

Paul Cocksedge studied industrial design at Sheffield Hallam University and product design under Ron Arad at the Royal College of Art in London.

Since graduating from the RCA, he has emerged as one of the UKÂ’s most prolific young designers. He has exhibited his work at the Design Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum and was one of the four designers nominated for the Design MuseumÂ’s Designer of the Year prize in 2004.

“He is only in his early 20s but, is already a master of the medium, combining a healthy sense of irony with technological maturity...his work is an incredible lyrical interpretation of the potential of light. These are experimental works that make you think.'”

Jane Pavitt, curator 'Brilliant' Victoria & Albert Museum

“A rising star of lighting design, the young British designer Paul Cocksedge creates visually spectacular and technically ingenious lights that celebrate the magical and transformative qualities of illumination.” © Design Museum

Photonic Products was established in 1995 and is a manufacturer of electro-optical sub-assemblies and innovative optoelectronic components based on semiconductor laser diode technology and also a specialist distributor of high performance industrial laser diodes, LEDs and precision optical lenses. It is a QueenÂ’s Award for International Enterprise winner.
