GlobalVetLink Achieves Nationwide Validation

GlobalVetLink Achieves Nationwide Validation

All Fifty States Now Authorize Veterinarians to Utilize the GVL Electronic Health Certification System

Ames, IA (PRWEB) August 4, 2010

GlobalVetLink (GVL®), the leader in electronic animal health documentation, reached a long sought-after milestone as Rhode Island became the 50th state to authorize electronic issuance of veterinary health certificates managed through their subscription-based online system. This achievement establishes GVL’s digital system as the nationally recognized legal equivalent to traditional paper processes required for interstate movement. Beyond convenience, GVL's system provides a far more accurate and secure approach to insuring health certificate compliance. Now veterinarians are able to effectively document the movement of animals to and from all 50 states and three U. S. Territories in real time.

“GVL’s nationwide recognition makes the job of regulated movement of food production and competitive animals all that more efficient,” states Conrad Schmidt, DVM, of GlobalVetLink’s board of directors. “Veterinarians can now provide current and verified certificates of health electronically nationwide. This not only controls costs for owners, it plays a vital role in preventing the potential for inadvertent cross-state disease transmission.” GVL user, Dr. Caroline Niederman of Houston, TX concurs, “Veterinarians and owners love the GVL service. Health certificate documentation requirements are simplified and available to any official at any time. It not only saves time, it serves an important role in veterinary medicine nationwide.”

ABOUT GLOBALVETLINK
Since GlobalVetLink's (www. globalvetlink. com) inception in 1999, over 150 million animal movements have been qualified and monitored by GVL services. The company’s electronic system eases veterinary paperwork burden and improves the efficiency of the animal health regulatory process. With a national database including digital photo capability, connectivity with diagnostic laboratories, state animal health officials and animal owners, GVL is THE digital resource for assuring safe animal movement.

Robotic Surgery Expert Joins Children’s National Medical Center

Robotic Surgery Expert Joins Children’s National Medical Center

Craig Peters will lead efforts to improve surgical precision through robotic technologies

Washington, DC (Vocus) October 27, 2010

Children’s National Medical Center has appointed Craig Peters, MD, chief of Surgical Technology and Translation in the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care and Principal Investigator in the Bioengineering Initiative of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. Dr. Peters has a special interest in applying robotics in pediatric surgery, which to date has not benefited fully from these advanced technologies. His research will focus on customized surgical planning and evaluation, enhanced visualization during surgery, and minimal and noninvasive surgical methods. Clinically, Dr. Peters joins Children’s Division of Urology where he will treat infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of urological disorders.

“Robotic surgery has been my passion for the last eight or nine years of my work in minimally invasive surgery in urology,” Dr. Peters said. “The potential exists for robotic technology to improve surgery for children through better visualization, manipulation of tissues, and access to small areas. The Sheikh Zayed Institute provides unparalleled opportunities and resources to lead a paradigm shift in surgery toward greater precision and better outcomes.”

The Sheikh Zayed Institute, which aims to make surgery more precise, less invasive, and pain free, is made possible by a $150 million gift from the Government of Abu Dhabi. The Bioengineering Initiative supports those goals by harnessing the full power of science and technology to make treatment more precise.

“Dr. Peters is an important part of our growing team of surgeons, researchers, and engineers that is coming together to transform children’s surgery,” said Kurt Newman, MD, senior vice president for the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care and the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. “Robotics is an important part of that effort because it can improve how we as surgeons see and navigate within a child’s body. The benefit to children is less painful procedures and more successful outcomes.”

Dr. Peters comes to Children’s National Medical Center from the University of Virginia where he was the John E. Cole Professor of Urology and Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology at the University of Virginia Health System. Previously, he was at Children’s Hospital in Boston, where his group established the largest pediatric urologic robotics program. Dr. Peters received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

“I think robotics does need to be seen as a new surgical paradigm,” Dr. Peters said. “It has the potential to enhance our interactions with patients in multiple ways to improve outcomes and reduce morbidity. The tools we have today are first generation technologies. It is exciting to have the chance to participate in their evolution and further development through research here at the Institute.”

Geonetric Attends eHealth Developers Summit in California

Geonetric Attends eHealth Developers Summit in California

Geonetric, an internet technology leader for hospitals and health systems, recently attended the eHealth DevelopersÂ’ Summit 2004 in Huntington Beach, California, held November 10-12. The conference was by invitation only for executive and managerial level professionals who are directly involved in eHealth development or funding. The summit is the only national conference that focuses solely on issues related to the eHealth industry.

Cedar Rapids, IA (PRWEB) November 21, 2004

The conference began with a panel of experts discussing “The State of eHealth” and also included several other presentations and breakout sessions. A discussion of Ethical and regulatory issues for eHealth Developers was held that included a discussion of HIPAA compliance regulations. Other discussions included eHealth: Who Pays, Who Plays, and a session on Developing eHealth Strategies for Provider Organizations. Hospitals that want to be ahead of the curve need to begin thinking about how they can centralize their processes,” said Ben Dillon, Vice President of Strategic Services at Geonetric. The summit helps enhance communication between developers and key stakeholders, identify problems and possible solutions as well as provide the opportunity to network with professionals across many sectors from the eHealth field.

According to Dillon, “The summit was very effective in looking at ehealth technologies from a many different angles. It’s clear that there are substantial benefits that they can bring to everyone involved – healthcare providers, payers, employers, the government and, most importantly, healthcare consumers. What continues to be less clear is which of these groups are going to take it upon themselves to move ehealth technologies into the mainstream.”

Wellness International Network, Ltd. Expands Marketing to Younger Generation

Wellness International Network, Ltd. Expands Marketing to Younger Generation

Wellness International Network, Ltd. is experiencing growth as young, driven entrepreneurs find this progressive company to be the vehicle to fulfill their needs and wants.

Plano, Texas (PRWEB) December 22, 2006

Ralph Oats and Cathy Oats, Founders of Wellness International Network, Ltd. (WIN) (http://web. winltd. com), an undisputed leader in the health and nutrition industries, are pleased to announce distributors are expanding the marketing of WIN's business opportunity to younger generations.

Generation X is making its mark in the business world and changing the traditional ways business is being done. This generation includes people ages 20-40 and is proving to be just as powerful as their parents' generation, the notorious Baby Boomers. In WIN, we call this new generation -- GenXtreme (http://web. winltd. com/wingallery/genxtreme/index. htm). In staying current with the latest market trends, many of WIN's distributors are focusing on marketing WIN's business opportunity and products to people in this age group, especially those just entering the workforce in their early 20s. "The fact is, in South Africa, that work is becoming so scarce young people need to look at employing themselves," shares Peter Smith of Cape Town, South Africa. Kelly Sindler of Dallas, Texas also sees the importance of marketing WIN to this demographic and has begun spearheading an effort to create a network of support for other distributors doing the same. Around the globe, distributors are helping this generation realize that it's possible to own your own business and take control of your future, at any age.

A group of distributors in Holland have organized weekly meetings where they focus on meeting with prospects in this younger demographic. "The meetings, originally referred to as Junior Meetings, are held every Thursday night and are specifically meant for people around 18-25 years of age. These people are like-minded, they all want to make money and we believe they are the next generation in WIN," shares Arthur Weesie of Amsterdam, Netherlands of their plans. Why did they start these meetings? "What motivated us the most is that young people have lots of energy, communicate differently and are more open-minded. We wanted to show how easy it is to become an entrepreneur at a young age, even when you are still studying or just started your career. In Holland becoming an entrepreneur is not something you are taught at school or university for instance, so it is upon us to awaken that entrepreneurial spirit," shares Frank Weesie of Avenhorn, Netherlands. The meeting was a huge success with 87 enthusiastic people in attendance. "There was a lot of energy in the air and people seemed to like it that a group of young persons gave the meetings. This makes them feel that if we could do it, they could also do it. Young people have proven that WIN works for young persons also and that is what they saw in the meeting," shares Maaike de Wit of Nieuwerkerk, Netherlands.

DTWI's Travel Carbon Monoxide Detector Prevents Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Whilst Holidaying Abroad, or in the UK

DTWI's Travel Carbon Monoxide Detector Prevents Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Whilst Holidaying Abroad, or in the UK

The travel carbon monoxide detector will help to ensure safety when travelling abroad, or camping and caravanning in the UK. It provides added protection for parents who are worried when travelling with small children. DTWI's travel carbon monoxide detector is small and light weight gadget, making it easy to pack into any bag

(PRWeb UK) May 12, 2010

Taking a travel carbon monoxide detector from DTWI www. donttravelwithoutit. com on holiday will hopefully help to prevent holiday deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning (CO) in the future. Every year more deaths are reported from CO poisoning; yet still a great deal of the population does not know much about it. The usual cause is due to faulty central heating and boiler systems, gas appliances, blocked flues and chimneys and car exhaust fumes

With summer fastly approaching and many people planning their holiday's, it is worth remembering the risks of CO poisoning are just as relevant whilst travelling, as they are at home

Everyone takes it for granted whilst staying away from home in villas, apartments, hotels, camping and caravanning that all the safety checks have been implemented and appliances are working correctly, and rightly so they should be; but this is not always the case. For peace of mind, take a travel carbon monoxide detector (http://www. donttravelwithoutit. com/portable_travel_carbon_monoxide_detector. html) on holiday and get alerted should there be a problem

A travel carbon monoxide detector will activate and an alarm will sound should there be a dangerous level of carbon monoxide present. Carbon monoxide (CO) gas is measured in parts per million (PPM) and the travel / portable carbon monoxide detector will activate when the poisonous gas it detected at a low level range of exposure 35 – 65 ppm, so it reacts quickly when the gas is present; early enough for individuals to remove themselves and their family from the effected area, and notify the property manager. It is especially important when travelling with infants or young children who are more vulnerable, as with the elderly. Please note travel carbon monoxide detectors are not designed as a permanent fixture

Carbon monoxide is often referred to as the silent killer; it is an odourless, tasteless, toxic gas, and therefore is not easily detected. The travel / portable carbon monoxide alarm (http://www. donttravelwithoutit. com/portable_travel_carbon_monoxide_detector. html) detects carbon monoxide at a low level range; and has CE approval. It has been designed especially for travel; it is a small, compact, light weight little gadget, with a loud alarm. It has a small lanyard attached so it can be hung anywhere, making it ideal for camping, no need to worry about screwing it to the wall or ceiling

Do watch out for the following symptoms which may be related to CO poisoning
•35 ppm - The maximum allowable concentration for continuous exposure for healthy adults
•200 ppm - Slight headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea after 2 – 3 hours
•400 ppm - Frontal headaches within 1 – 2 hours, life threatening after 3 hours
•800 ppm - Dizziness, nausea and convulsions within 45 minutes, unconsciousness within 2 hours, death within 3 hours
•1600 ppm – Headache, dizziness and nausea within 20 minutes, death within an hour
If you feel any of the early warning signs remove yourself from the room and see if the symptoms start to go away

The Travel / Portable Carbon Monoxide Detector is £19.99 and available to purchase at www. donttravelwithoutit. com.

Halogen Offers Performance Based Integrated Learning Management System

Halogen Offers Performance Based Integrated Learning Management System

Offering meets new best practices, links performance and learning to bottom-line results.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 11, 2007

Halogen Software Inc., the leading provider of Web-based employee performance and talent management software today announced the industry’s first talent management system to include an enterprise-level performance-based learning management system (LMS). Building on the highly successfully Halogen Employee Performance and Talent Management Suite (http://www. halogensoftware. com/products/), the company will now offer Halogen eLMS™ (http://www. halogensoftware. com/products/halogen-elms/) which will enable companies to not only automate the learning process, but to properly align employee performance with learning activities.

Traditional stand-alone LMS offerings were designed to address the administrative burdens of training departments and were focused on meeting the needs of large enterprises. The end result was that LMS offerings were not linked to HR or employee performance programs and were very complex for most organizations to implement. Industry analyst firm, Bersin and Associates has identified the integration of learning and performance management systems as a key priority for learning and development managers, with more than 25 percent rating it one of their top two priorities. Halogen eLMS will address this need by providing an easy to use tool for learning and development managers and HR to align the performance needs of the organization and demonstrate a return on training investments.

Halogen eLMS was announced at the recent Halogen User Conference, with a very positive response from customers. "We need to move away from tracking our training manually and be better able to look back and understand what training employees have completed or not. We typically hire more than 100 new employees annually and are developing a new on-boarding training program that will be specific to the needs of each department. By integrating this process with performance management we expect that we will get people performing in their jobs more quickly and more consistently. Halogen has always listened closely to our needs in the areas of performance and development and we are excited about the upcoming release of eLMS," said Andrea Uxa, HR Specialist, Epson America.

By integrating directly into the performance management process, Halogen eLMS provides both HR and learning organizations with a sophisticated tool to manage and track all aspects of employee development and training on a year-round basis. Based on proven best practices, this new offering will do much more than automate the learning process – it will enable organizations to properly align individual employee performance with learning activities – creating a clear line between employee skill development and how this impacts corporate performance.

Key Benefits of Halogen eLMS include:
Provide employees with a consistent, easy-to-use application to manage their own performance and development: Employees get a single place to go for goals, development plans, training, and to complete any type of assessment. They can understand their own performance gaps and be offered targeted learning activities to close those gaps, enabling them to be responsible for their own success in the organization. Companies that provide such performance and training tools know that they gain much higher performance, engagement, and loyalty from their employees.  Deliver strategic information to HR: HR managers get straight-forward access to information that assists them in building a high-performance workforce. This includes consolidated information, such as performance ratings and gaps, skills and competencies, training compliance and succession data.  Identify critical skill gaps to Learning & Development: Training and development get the information they need to align with the goals of the organization. By identifying critical skills gaps, training is better equipped to align training investments and programs to fit perfectly with corporate goals, development plans, and succession requirements.  Simplify people processes for managers: Managers have a single simple to use system for goal setting, performance management, succession planning, compensation, coaching and evaluation of employees. Integrated talent-management systems give managers a tremendous productivity boost and enable them to follow a complete and consistent process for employee management.

Doctor Finders Announces All-Natural Program to Help Reduce Severe Asthma Symptoms

Doctor Finders Announces All-Natural Program to Help Reduce Severe Asthma Symptoms

Doctor Finders announces all-natural program to help reduce severe asthma symptoms.

Mesa, AZ (Vocus) July 21, 2010

Doctor Finders (http://doctorfinders. com) announces a new all-natural program to help reduce severe asthma symptoms (http://doctorfinders. com/doctor-tips-news/all-natural-program/). Recent news has linked low levels of Vitamin D to a 50% increase in a risk of severe asthma attacks, according to researchers led by Dr. Augusto A. Litongua, of Harvard Medical School in Boston. The findings were reported in the Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology. However, it is important to note Vitamin D levels did not appear to have any affect on moderate asthma symptoms.

Vitamin D serves several functions within the body. As related to asthma, Vitamin D’s role in boosting immune system functions may also help enhance the effects of anti-inflammatory steroid hormones used to treat asthma. Dr. E. Rand Sutherland from the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine at National Jewish Health in Denver published a study finding “low vitamin D levels are associated with worse asthma.” The Study was published in American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

Allergies (http://doctorfinders. com/allergies. php) are often at their worse during the summer months and may induce allergy related asthma. In order to help those suffering from asthma, Doctor Finders has put together a simple, easy-to-follow program to help reduce severe asthma symptoms:

1. Drink a minimum of one glass of milk with vitamin D per day. The vitamin D also helps the body absorb calcium for stronger bones.
2. Drink one glass of orange juice with Vitamin D per day.
3. Eat at least one meal a week that includes fatty fish.
4. Spend 20 minutes a day in direct sunlight. The skin produces Vitamin D when it is exposed to sunlight. It is important to spend time outside in all seasons, not just the summer time. For longer exposure to sunlight, sun tan lotions are recommended to prevent the skin from burning.

Obese people should increase vitamin D intake, as Vitamin D is stored in the fat in heavier people, whereas with healthy weight people, more vitamin D enters the blood stream and produces more beneficial effects.

“These recent studies show the importance of vitamin D to the body’s functioning. Part of the problem today is the amount of time people spend indoors in front of computers, TVs and video games,” says Clint Ethington of Doctor finders. “Spending a little time in the sun each day will not only help improve Vitamin D levels, but it may also encourage more exercise and a healthier lifestyle. Our program is designed to incorporate healthy foods and drink such as fish, milk and orange juice combined with a lifestyle that values exercise and the outdoors. Each one of these elements has benefits to the body that go far beyond Vitamin D levels.

Doctor Finders is an innovative on-line tool that allows the general public to find the right doctor for their needs, identifying doctors by geographic area, specialties, procedures, and more.

New Diet Study Reveals Top Strategy for Weight Loss HMR Diet Program and Meal Replacements Highlighted

New Diet Study Reveals Top Strategy for Weight Loss HMR Diet Program and Meal Replacements Highlighted

A recent published study showed HMR's intensive behavioral diet program and low-calorie meal replacements are effective for medically significant weight loss. Patients in the study lost 37 - 43 pounds.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 15, 2009

With obesity now the greatest threat to the health of Americans, finding an effective approach to weight loss is more critical than ever. According to a new study in the August 2009 issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, low-calorie, portion-controlled meal replacements used in a structured weight-loss program are successful in facilitating medically significant weight loss.

The study looked at dieters using the meal replacements and the intensive behavioral program developed by HMR® (Health Management Resources) http://www. hmrprogram. com/index. cfm/Programs/ClinicPrograms (http://www. hmrprogram. com/index. cfm/Programs/ClinicPrograms). Dieters used one of two weight-loss options: patients with diabetes, hypertension, or other weight-related medical problems used HMR's medically supervised Decision-Free® Diet and ate only meal replacements (which consisted of HMR Shakes, HMR Entrees, and HMR Nutrition Bars). Other dieters used HMR's Healthy Solutions® Diet and consumed meal replacements along with fruits and vegetables. All dieters attended weekly classes, kept food records, had mid-week phone calls with a health educator, and burned a minimum of 2,000 exercise calories each week.

Patients on the medically supervised diet lost an average of 43.3 pounds in 19 weeks. Patients on the Healthy Solutions diet lost an average of 37.5 pounds in 18 weeks. These data represent two to three times more weight loss, in less time, compared to published results of any other commercial diet program.

HMR is currently the nation's leading provider of medically supervised weight management programs. HMR weight-loss programs are located in hospitals, medical centers, and university settings across the U. S. HMR also offers HMR at Home® Diet Kits http://www. hmrprogram. com/index. cfm/Programs/HomePrograms (http://www. hmrprogram. com/index. cfm/Programs/HomePrograms) with meal replacements and diet support materials delivered directly to dieters' homes.

According to the study's co-author, Dr. James W. Anderson, Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, the gold standard for weight loss in the health community is to achieve a 5 - 10% loss of initial body weight. "This study showed a weight loss between 15.8 % and 16.4% of initial body weight, both well above the gold standard the health community considers successful and the point at which health improvements are seen."

The Centers for Disease Control reports a dramatic increase in obesity in the U. S. over the past 20 years, with 2/3 of Americans now overweight or obese. Furthermore, there are more obese Americans than overweight or normal weight. Some common effects of obesity include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and cancer. If you are obese, losing just 5% to 10% of your body weight can delay or prevent some of these diseases.

The #1 Problem in Family Businesses Today

The #1 Problem in Family Businesses Today

The most significant problem which will prevent family businesses from successful transition into the next generation is not estate taxes, not competition from the Wal-Marts of the world, not the lack of reasonably sound financial planning, and not the lack of industriousness or work ethic of successor generations. ItÂ’s the epidemic behavior exhibited by senior generation or founding generation business family members who refuse to let go of their companies!

(PRWEB) September 21, 2004

The most significant problem which will prevent family businesses from successful transition into the next generation is not estate taxes, not competition from the Wal-Marts of the world, not the lack of reasonably sound financial planning, and not the lack of industriousness or work ethic of successor generations. ItÂ’s the epidemic behavior exhibited by senior generation or founding generation business family members who refuse to let go of the companies they helped build! This not a new or isolated phenomenon; the first significant writers on the subject of family businesses identified the issue in the 1970Â’s.

The failure to let go and plan for management and ownership transition plagues nearly all family businesses at one time or another. As an example, an 87-year-old founder of a metal business commented he had been trying to exit his company for over 20 years. The founder owned 100% of the metal companyÂ’s stock. The succession problem, he stated, was that he was in a dispute with his brotherÂ’s widow over who actually owned the company property in an entity outside the corporation. When asked what the property dispute had to do with the gentlemanÂ’s exit and transition of management to his three children (ages 62, 57, and 54), he had no answer. When asked when might be a good time to get started on the transfer of management and stock ownership, the gentleman blamed the recession. He simply couldnÂ’t pass the business along to his children in good conscience with the company balance sheet in its current condition. If he himself were unable to return the company to profitability, how could his children? This 87-year-old founder clearly does not view himself objectively. Had he been more self-effacing, he would have seen the clear need to turn over management responsibility and control of the company stock to his children who had worked alongside him for decades to help build it. The children are in a state of despair over the bleak future of the company, and the father is in denial.

The subject of intergenerational transfer planning for family companies is especially important today given the fact that the leadership of about 4 in 10 family owned businesses will have changed hands in the next five years according to The Family Firm Institute. In order to help combat the problem of poor transition planning, The Family Business Institute has produced a new research paper, “Blunt Advice for Multi-Generation Family Companies: What To Do When the Senior Generation Has Trouble Letting Go.” The purpose of the paper is to help senior and successor generations understand the factors associated with intergenerational transition, describe the behaviors that indicate whether a transition is likely to be problematic or not, and to propose strategies for resolving intergenerational issues so that neither the business nor the family is torn apart.

The paper describes in great detail:

The behaviors of senior generation family members who are struggling with letting go  The behaviors of junior generation family members who are struggling with letting go and transition issues of their own  The consequences of poor intergenerational transition for the family, the business, and the individuals in the family system  What to do to assure a smooth, successful family business transition  How to help the senior generation feel comfortable at an appropriate time for letting go

The paper is authored by Wayne Rivers, President of The Family Business Institute, Inc., and author of "You Don’t Have to Die to Win – Success and Succession for Family Businesses" and "Prescriptions for a Healthy Family Business" which is scheduled for publication this fall.

NashAuction Annouces its Own Merchant Gateway

NashAuction Annouces its Own Merchant Gateway

NashAuction and NashCash are now one single company!

(PRWEB) March 7, 2005

In January 2005, NashCash has merged with NashAuction - the Free Online Market Plaza. After long debates on whether or not to include a new online payment service (in addition/exchange to existing paypal ID verification) for Nash's rapidly expanding community - Nash Team has finally decided to make a powerful move towards creating a safe and inexpensive way for online transactions. Many Nashers have been asking to drop the use of Paypal for good - due to its unhealthy fees. Since Nash has become the top of the free online auction sites among thousands of daily users and for the last 5 months has topped all the online searche queries - there became a good time to make the way for something new in the whole online payments industry - the 1.5% fee for ANY transaction amount - this has waken the calm waters of internet and generated a tzunami of new Nashers who pour in for a free auctioning and super cheap online money payments. Nash Community are people who have been trading for years on other doing-alike sites - paying hundreds of dollars from final-value fees to featured-front-page fees - have been the corner-stone of droping such sites for good - even though those sites claimed to be the most trusted (because of being signed with Paypal) - the security is one side of the table - the other side is affordabilty - and when Nash came along with the brand new idea of freeing up auction selling from all - completely ALL - fees and merged with NashCash - charging members only 1.5% on any transaction - the response from buyers and traders was enormous - most of sellers cannot have time to list more items - daily sales are amazing - there is no adequate place online like Nash - bar none!

The Nash Team is presently a group of professional powersellers who used to be on the brink of a complete madness with the way the big-bad-bay site was prohibitively overcharging by making it a complete non-sense - since everyone knew that only 25% of goods on bay-site can actually be sold - basically too many products - and most of them are simply getting dusted - due to the high listing fees - so the sellers would not cut the prices down - being afraid of high fees. Nash has done it a different way - there is no dusting items - every little item gets sold - compare to bay-site the feedback system on nash generates more positive feedback than any other online auction site - because everyone pays - much quicker - due to the low initial prices - sellers have no fear of high fees - because there are none.

These Businesses Are Having Their Most Profitable Year Yet While Others Are Forced To Close Their Doors for Good

These Businesses Are Having Their Most Profitable Year Yet While Others Are Forced To Close Their Doors for Good

While many businesses are forced to cut back on spending, there are an increasing number of businesses who are quietly enjoying their most profitable year yet! Though these particular types of businesses are seldom talked about in the media, they are succeeding even in today's economy for several reasons that nobody seems to be talking about.

Slinger, WI (PRWEB) April 6, 2009

While many businesses are forced to cut back on spending, there are an increasing number of businesses who are quietly enjoying their most profitable year yet! Though these particular types of businesses are seldom talked about in the media, they are succeeding even in today's economy for several reasons that nobody seems to be talking about.

A recent report published by comScore showed that online sales were outperforming offline brick and mortar stores. For example, while sales of Electronics and Appliances dropped by 26% for offline stores, the drop for online stores was a manageable 5%. Clothing sales dropped an average of 20% for traditional offline stores, while online stores saw an increase of 4%.

So why are online stores avoiding the much of the drop in sales while offline stores are feeling the full impact of the recession?

Well, Christopher Smith, owner and operator of the online business DanicasGiftBaskets. com, a specialty gift baskets (http://www. danicasgiftbaskets. com) store explains, "Businesses who operate 100% online don't have the overhead of hundreds of thousands of employees, healthcare for those employees and all the expenses that go along with a traditional brick and mortar business. This allows our focus to be on our customer and our product."

Smith then went on to say, "I have a small number of employees who help manage my site, but running my business solely online helps keep my overhead low so I can pass those savings on to customers. When other businesses seem to be raising costs and lowering value, we're keeping our value the same while lowering costs so more people can afford to send our gift baskets to friends and loved ones."

Another major factor in the growth of online shopping is that of convenience. Unlike their offline counterparts, e-commerce stores are open 24hrs a day and can be accessed from work or home. This contrasts with the travel, crowds and time of day constraints of retail stores.

Selection is also deciding factors for most consumers. Many online stores can add several hundred different product choices, empowering customers with a wide range of choices.

At Smith's web site, Danicasgiftbaskets. com you'll find unique gift baskets of all kinds. With Mother's Day next month, they have put extra work into their Mothers Day gift baskets (http://www. danicasgiftbaskets. com/mothers-day-gift-basket. asp), including special baskets for moms who love gardening, like the feel of being pampered in a spa, or love to relax with a good book and a hot cup of tea plus many more options to choose from.

There's just something special about getting a package delivered in the mail that awakens the inner child in all of us from the joy of an unexpected "mystery" package that begs to be opened. And with Mother's Day right around the corner, the cost of ordering mom a specialty gift basket tailored to her unique interests is not as expensive as you might think!

The main concern with online stores however continues to be with security.

"We wanted to ensure that our customers could shop securely - that's why we went with trusted payment processors such as PayPal and 2Checkout. com", says Stephanie Coburn of WeddingFavorSaver. com.

Third party payment solutions providers securely process payments, working with credit card providers and banks to ensure customers can shop online without having to worry about fraud.

No matter what kind of budget you're faced with this year, online stores such as Danica's Gift Baskets, will help you find the perfect gift that will leave mom (or that other special someone) thinking you overspent when she sees that large, unexpected package arrive at her doorstep.

Akaushi Beef: Shattering the Standards for Meat

Akaushi Beef: Shattering the Standards for Meat

HeartBrand Beef announces that for the first time ever Akaushi Beef is available for consumer purchase within the United States.

YOAKUM, TX (PRWEB) February 14, 2007

Have you ever tasted a steak so tender that you can cut it with a dinner knife? And so flavorful that from the first buttery taste through the last lingering juices you savor every melt-in-your mouth bite? And could you imagine that steak is actually good for your heart as well? Akaushi Beef is all that and more, and HeartBrand Beef (www. heartbrandbeef. com) announces that for the first time ever it is available for consumer purchase within the United States.

The Akaushi cattle are prized in Japan for the exceptional quality and health benefits of their meat. “All of our cattle grade Prime Plus on the American scale of marbling – the small streaks of fat within a meat cut that enhances juiciness and flavor,” said Dr. José Antonio Elías-Calles, president of HeartBrand Beef and the foremost authority on Akaushi cattle outside of Japan. “Additionally, the cattle naturally store fat throughout the muscle – which is very different from American cattle that tend to store fat on the exterior of the muscle – making the Akaushi meat extremely tender and juicy. The superior genetics possessed by Akaushi cattle can be used to improve the quality of the current domestic beef in the US.”

It is generally recognized that fat is responsible for the palatability of beef, but it is actually the monounsaturated fat, called “good fat,” that is responsible for the flavor. The marbling in Akaushi beef contains a much higher percentage of monounsaturated fat than any other beef in the US. As a result, Akaushi has a richer, more intense buttery flavor.

The secret of this extraordinary beef lies in the genetics of the cattle. Akaushi cattle have a genetic predisposition for producing the highest quality of meat. The Japanese Association of Akaushi has documented the lineage and performance of each Akaushi calf born in Japan for the past 60 years. Coupled with the recorded parentage of the US-born calves, the lineage of each of the Texas cattle can be traced back over thirty generations, making this the only all-natural, 100% source-verified beef in America.

All in all, Akaushi tears down the long-held stereotypes of the beef industry. It is gourmet beef that shatters the American scale of quality, yet it provides a delicious solution for meat-lovers previously forced to shun red meat for healthier options. Now you can have your beef and enjoy it too.

About HeartBrand Beef

HeartBrand was founded in 1994 when the original Akaushi cattle herd was brought to the US by way of a legal loophole. In 2006 we introduced Akaushi Beef to the US market. HeartBrand Beef is committed to producing the healthiest and highest quality meat, including steaks, ground meat, hot dogs, sausages and a variety of other cuts. For more information, visit www. heartbrandbeef. com.

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) December 16, 2010

Infrequent sex in marriage is a symptom of a troubled marriage. Sexless marriages have been defined as marriages with fewer than 15 erotic interactions a year. It is a commonly known fact that one out of two married couples face divorce in our country. It is very evident that arguing couples have frustrated sex lives. Without sex married couples become mere roommates. Research shows that couples equate the quality of their relationship with the frequency of sex. Many studies have shown that sexless marriages may lead to infidelity and decreased mental health. Monogamous sexual regularity has many health benefits.

Many couples are clueless about how to fix their sexless marriage. That is why seasoned Marriage & Family Therapist Pastor Joseph L. Follette, Jr. has created Sizzling Hot! to inspire married couples to have more frequent mutually satisfying sex.

As a form of mental health treatment Marriage and Family Therapy has proven to be very effective in improving marital communication and reducing conflict. This seminar is specifically for couples whose flame has nearly blown out. Whose sex life has become dull, boring and maybe non-existent. And if money is an obstacle, this teleseminar is being offered for FREE to any couple who wants it. This seminar provides sound advice for couples who are motivated to improve their marriage.

Marriage is not something you can set on auto pilot. Couples must constantly invest in their relationship. This seminar is an opportunity for couples to reconnect and re-experience one another. A great marriage does not happen by chance. Marriage is something a couple has to work on. "Sometimes a simple seminar can create the spark a couple needs to get their intimacy back on track", says Follette.

Pfizer launches frontal attack against well-being of American seniors by restriction on sales to Canadian Internet Pharmacies. Prompts call for action, investigations by Seniors Web Site Publisher

Pfizer launches frontal attack against well-being of American seniors by restriction on sales to Canadian Internet Pharmacies. Prompts call for action, investigations by Seniors Web Site Publisher

Pfizer cuts supplies of its products to Canadian Internet pharmacies in move to limit supplies to American seniors, prompts call for action, investigations

(PRWEB) February 18, 2004

Pfizer has told Canadian pharmacies selling to American seniors that they will no longer be able to purchase from Pfizer, TodaysSeniorsNetwork. com, a leading Internet site for seniors, has learned. The action has prompted call from TodaysSeniorsNetwork. com Publisher Daniel Hines for quick retaliatory action and investigation of Pfizer's actions.

The action by Pfizer is the most drastic taken to this point by a pharmaceutical manufacturer as part of the latest effort to control the market and set prices in the United States for the prescriptions that U. S. seniors use.

In a letter signed by Isabelle M Girard, legal counsel for Pfizer Canada, the company cited that its conditions for sale of its products required that companies not sell outside of Canada or sell the Pfizer products to anyone or company that it knows or suspects of such sales.

America's Seniors at www. TodaysSeniorsNetwork. com has launched an extensive series of contacts with policy makers and other groups that support a role for Canadian prescriptions as an alternative to high-priced drugs in the U. S.

"Many states have threatened the possibility of legal action in the past against a number of the pharmaceutical companies," explains Daniel Hines, publisher of TodaysSeniorsNetwork. com. "This includes, but it not limited to Illinois, with a 'black listing' of companies that take such action; Minnesota and Iowa, with attorneys general investigations of possible anti-trust action, and a number of other localities that have already implemented the purchase of prescription drugs from Canada."

Hines noted that the Pfizer action follows a series of failed actions by the large pharmaceutical manufactuerers and their allies to falsely portray Canadian imports as 'unsafe', 'counterfeit', and as being imported from Third-World countries.

"More significantly, it comes on the heels of the passage of the flawed Medicare Bill, which protects the positions of the large pharmaceutical companies by outlawing price controls, and that of pharmacy benefit plan managers--including AARP--that will gain the most from the Bill, at the expense of needy seniors" Hines continues. "The timing is even more evidence of the arrogance of the large pharmaceutical companies and their complete lack of responsiveness and sensitivity to the health care needs of seniors."

The action also comes in the face of a 'summit meeting' convened by Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich on Canadian imports to be held in Washington, DC at the end of February.

The Illinois Governor has been a leader in the call for the use of Canadian prescription drugs.

Also, several in Congress have indicated their support, including Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) who has proposed legislation calling for the FDA to approve the import of Canadian prescriptions in this country.

Ironically, the National Governors' Association, which is meeting in Washington at the same time at Governor Blagojevich's summit, has not even included the subject of Canadian prescriptions from Internet pharmacies on its agenda.

Even before the Pfizer move, the Alliance for Retired Americans appealed for the Governors to redraw their agenda to discuss the issue.

Hines said that he anticipates a series of actions by different agencies in the next few weeks.

"If Pfizer is able to succeed in this attack upon seniors, others will follow suit," Hines says. "The losers will be the seniors of this country.

"It is time for dramatic steps to be taken to rein in the greed of Pfizer and others."

Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease: Online Presentation Looks at the Complex Relationship of These Two Diseases in Light of Recent Studies

Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease: Online Presentation Looks at the Complex Relationship of These Two Diseases in Light of Recent Studies

Dr. Anthony McCall presents an audio-slide presentation on the Diabetes Best Practices Website, analyzing the ACCORD, ADVANCE and UKPDS-80 trials and the role of glycemic control in treating type 2 diabetes as well as preventing heart disease.

Somerville, NJ (PRWEB) January 14, 2009

Effectively and safely achieving glycemic goal has long been considered the "brass ring" in diabetes management but recent studies (ACCORD, ADVANCE and UKPDS-80) paint a more complex picture, showing that aggressive glycemic control in some cases is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

A newly launched online, multi-media presentation by Anthony McCall, Professor of Diabetes at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, offers a detailed view of the studies presented at the 68th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association. Dr. McCall addresses the question "how will these results affect the day-to-day practice of the healthcare provider?"

His slide and audio presentation, titled, "How Low Should You Go? Glycemic Control in T2DM: Discord over ADVANCE, ACCORD, and UKPDS-80" is now available online at the Diabetes Best Practices Website at Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Presentation (http://www. diabetesbestpractices. com/McCall/presentation. html)

"It is my hope to empower health care providers to develop their own best practice strategies for treating patients who are at high risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes-related comorbidities (eg, obesity, myocardial infarction, stroke) and who have other diabetes risk factors," explained Dr. McCall.

"Log on and listen, download the slides to present to others and join our blog to add your perspective, opinions, and feedback," says Dr. McCall. "The management of diabetes is constantly evolving and at the Community of Best Practices is a place where you can work with your colleagues to debate new developments and advance day-to-day practice," he added.

The Community of Best Practices (Diabetes Best Practices (http://www. diabetesbestpractices. com)) is an innovative Web forum launched in January 2008. It is an interactive environment in which clinicians can discuss and share their best practices related to diabetes care and management. Clinicians may log on to watch audiovisual presentations by physician faculty, read and contribute to useful tips in the blog, and view a calendar of events and links to diabetes resources.

The Web Site is a collaborative project of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and Embryon and is supported by an educational grant from sanofi-aventis U. S.

Fitness Expert Says New Years Fitness Resolutions are a Collosal Waste of Time

Fitness Expert Says New Years Fitness Resolutions are a Collosal Waste of Time

Fitness expert Geoff Kalmbach resumes annual battle against New Years fitness resolutions.

Destin, FL (PRWEB) December 23, 2005

Every January, millions of Americans flock to the gym to begin their annual pilgrimage towards inevitable fitness failure. The majority of people when asked what their New Years resolutions will be for 2005 proudly state that getting into shape or losing weight, yet again will top their lists. Enjoying a healthy, happy and fit lifestyle is a year-long adventure, not something people should half heartedly jump into because your best friend or spouse decides to.

“The biggest fad in fitness isn’t a powder pill or crazy abdominal toy, it’s the New Years fitness resolution”, said Geoff Kalmbach, a leading fitness expert based out of Destin. He went on to add: "Too many people get resolution confused with commitment. Fitness resolutions are nothing more than appointments that can be canceled and rescheduled without a second thought”.

Kalmbach believes there are several factors contributing to our sub par success rate.

-- Choosing the first Monday (Jan.2nd) as a start date. Most people will enjoy a few cocktails and all types of incredible foods throughout the day and night on Saturday and Sunday. This certainly doesn’t bode well for the first leg of your fitness program.

-- Not setting a goal or even worse, setting an unobtainable goal.

-- Waiting until the New Year to begin in the first place.

-- Showing absolutely no discipline. ”I’m getting it all out of my system this weekend, but come Monday my resolution begins”.

-- Choosing a program on your actual start date, instead of having a program in place ready to incorporate.

Geoff offers up the following suggestions to ensure fitness success.

1) Instead of a starting date, have a starting week. This will give you a chance to iron out the bugs, and see how it all will fit day to day. Use the first week to develop a schedule for meals and best times for workouts, and always keep a daily fitness journal to record meals.

2) Not setting a goal is the equivalent to playing golf, and never shooting at the flag. You MUST have daily, weekly, 1, 3 and 6 month goals. Be sure your goals are specific to you and your schedule and more importantly keep them realistic, none of that 20 pounds in two weeks garbage like you see in all the magazines and TV.

3) There is no better time to start working out than today. Whether it be a Monday, Wednesday, Sunday, December, January, or February. The best time to start working out is the day you choose to begin. If you can only workout three times weekly make sure you choose a program that calls for three workouts weekly as opposed to five.

4) Showing some discipline during New Years celebrations goes a long way in helping you phycologically down the road. If you exhibit restraint during the most gluttonous days of the year then there is no reason why you can’t do it in any other time of the year.

5) Keep it simple and fun. Exercise is easy so there is no reason to make it difficult. If you loathe the workout your obviously not going to stick with it and you know what that means. Another fitness resolution for 2007.

Success Against Malaria Bolsters Case for Further Investment, New Report Shows

Success Against Malaria Bolsters Case for Further Investment, New Report Shows

A new study, released this week by Roll Back Malaria, links funding increases in the global fight against malaria to a drop in deaths from the disease and shows that resources from donor governments still fall short of those needed for maximum impact against the world’s fourth-biggest killer of children, according to a global health policy analyst at international aid agency World Vision. With World Malaria Day just weeks away, World Vision cautions that unless donor governments increase funding and the U. S. meets the commitments signed into law under its Global AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria bill in 2008, life-saving programs will fall far short of targets.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 20, 2010

A new study linking funding increases in the global fight against malaria to a drop in deaths from the disease also shows that resources from donor governments still fall short of those needed for maximum impact against the world’s fourth-biggest killer of children, according to a global health policy analyst at international aid agency World Vision.

International funding for malaria efforts reached $4.6 billion from 2003 to 2009, according to Roll Back Malaria’s report “Malaria Funding and Resource Utilization,” released this week. The paper, which examines the past decade of the global anti-malaria effort, highlights considerable progress in countries working to rapidly scale up proven malaria control interventions. Still, the less than $2 billion now committed annually represents only a third of the global need.

With World Malaria Day just weeks away, World Vision cautions that unless donor governments increase funding and the U. S. meets the commitments signed into law under its Global AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria bill in 2008, programs will fall far short of the 2010 targets of halving malaria deaths and ensuring universal coverage with insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), and will fail to reach the UN Millennium Development Goals in 2015.

“Clearly, the increase in global malaria investments in recent years is now paying off with a substantial dividend of lives saved,” Craig Jaggers, global health policy adviser for the Christian humanitarian organization World Vision, said of the findings in RBM’s review. “This illustrates that malaria interventions work -- yet funding remains far short to fulfill Millennium Development goals and other global commitments, threatening the progress made to date.”

Each day, malaria kills more than 2,000 children under age five, making it a leading cause of death for young children in Africa and other regions. Still, malaria can be prevented and treated with inexpensive, proven interventions such as insecticide-treated mosquito nets and access to anti-malarial drugs.

“Using effective, low-cost solutions, tens of thousands of lives are being saved each year from malaria,” said Jaggers. “Accelerating funding will help ensure universal coverage of malaria interventions and bring us one step closer to ending child deaths from this entirely preventable disease."

“Success against malaria is also driving a drop in overall child and maternal deaths in the developing world, a reality UNICEF recognized in its latest global health assessment,” said Jaggers.

World Vision, a member of the RBM partnership, concurs with the assessment of the researchers and analysts who authored the study, the first in the Progress and Impact Series of reports charting progress towards the goal of eliminating the disease and its death toll.

World Vision works in 62 malaria-endemic countries, 23 of which are in sub-Saharan Africa, with experience in local communities and tens of thousands of trained volunteer caregivers who can assist with malaria interventions on the frontlines. The aid group’s experts urge malaria programs to emphasize grassroots, community-level distributions of bed nets within national and global plans.
