Teaching Proper Landing Technique Helps Prevent ACL Injuries in Women

Teaching Proper Landing Technique Helps Prevent ACL Injuries in Women

Study finds low intensity low volume plyometric program reduces risk of knee injury

(PRWEB) February 7, 2005

An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is one of the most serious injuries in sport, generally requiring surgery and a long rehabilitation period. And it is a startling fact that women are more likely to suffer a non-contact ACL injury than their male counterparts. Finding a way to reduce these knee injuries in women is critical.

Past research suggests that the impact forces occurring during landings from a jump contribute to the incidence of injury. However, the training programs studied were unrealistic due to the large time demands with high intensity and high volume training.

In this study, published by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (November 2004), a specialized plyometric training program, significantly reduced the magnitude and rate of impact forces generated during landing, and thus, lessen the occurrence of ACL injuries in women.

Researchers from Boise State University and the University of Louisville found that a low volume, low intensity training program can improve landing mechanics in a manner conducive to injury prevention. Further, the 20-minute, 2-day per week program can easily be incorporated into a regular training program.

Twenty-eight women were randomly assigned into two groups. The treatment group performed the low intensity and low volume program for nine weeks, while the control group received no intervention.

Results showed significant reduction in peak vertical impact forces (reduced an average of 26.4%) and rate of force development (reduced by 27.3%) in the treatment group after nine weeks of training. No change occurred in the control group.

When landing from a jump, women generate higher impact forces over a shorter period of time than men. This predisposes women to a greater risk of ACL injury. By learning proper landing techniques, women are able to reduce the likelihood of non-contact ACL injuries.

Plyometrics are complex jumping and pivot training exercises. The NSCA recommends you work with a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) or NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) with experience in plyometric training before starting a program. Strength and conditioning professionals can be found on the NSCA web site at www. nsca-lift. org/trainers (http://www. nsca-lift. org/trainers).

Unique Cycle Team Touts Tasty Tubers

Unique Cycle Team Touts Tasty Tubers

Unicycle team uses sweet potato-based YAMMIT! Nuggets and YAMMIT! Energy Bars to fuel them in the "Ride the Lobster," a 5-day, 500 mile relay race across Nova Scotia.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 2, 2008

Yams provide power for unusual unicycle team to compete in 5-day, 500+ mile (800 km) "Ride The Lobster" (www. ridethelobster. com) unicycle race, across the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Aptly named, The YamPower! (http://yampower. spincycle. org (http://yampower. spincycle. org)) team members fueled themselves largely by consuming a diet that consisted of nutritional products made from (what else) yams.

YamPower! team captain, Jim Sowers credits Jay Robb Enterprises (http://www. jayrobb. com/ (http://www. jayrobb. com/),) a California-based nutrition company, with providing the riders with the nutritional products that helped supply them with the energy they required to endure the grueling 5-day competition. The team ate a diet that consisted largely of Jay Robb YAMMIT! Nuggets and YAMMIT Energy Bars---both made primarily from sweet potatoes (yams).

Why Yams? "Athletes have long favored the power of sweet potatoes (yams) as an ideal carb source for athletic performance and sustained energy. But who wants to carry around a yam or sweet potato to munch on all day? Not many. That is why I developed a way of packaging that natural energy source into convenient YAMMIT products that are easy to use, sweet to the taste, and high in vital nutrients, says clinical nutritionist and creator of the YAMMIT! Energy product line," said Jay Robb. "Due to their high nutritional content, the sweet potato (yam) has also been rated the number one vegetable by the Center for Science in the Public Interest---for its fiber content, complex carbohydrate, protein, Vitamins A and C, iron, and calcium,"

Ride the Lobster Unicycle Race (June 16-20, 2008) was a unique five day relay race consisting of teams of three riders, that each exchanged, while riding on-the-fly. The teams raced through 136 communities while passing through some of the most picturesque countryside and coastal communities in Canada where spectators and school children lined the streets. The YamPower! Team was one of 35 teams from around the world that participated in the race. Elite extreme unicyclists from 17 countries, 17 states and 8 provinces participated. Teams from Germany, New Zealand, and the U. S. (Texas/California) took the top three spots, with only 18 minutes separating the top two over the 5-day event.

Although Team YamPower! did not place with the top winners; the team seemed thrilled with the once in a lifetime experience. "Considering that our team had the 2nd least number of years riding, and one of the older riders, we did great! No one passed me going up a hill; and we had some great road rivalries," said rider Jim Sowers.

"Our yam theme was a sensation -- we were voted the most entertaining team -- and the YAMMIT! products were a real hit with the other riders," stated team member, Rachel Kalmer.

The YamPower! Team (www. yampower. spincycle. org) consists of three riders: Jim Sowers a lawyer and DJ based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He enjoys MUni (mountain unicycle) rides, and unicycle basketball. He also teaches and performs with Cuban dance troupes; Rachel Kalmar is working on her PhD in neuroscience at Stanford. When she isn't unicycling, she rides on Heelys (shoes with wheels), motorcycles, and dances Cuban salsa; Ashley Foster is an aerial dancer and costume designer. She has performed across the country and teaches aerial dance in Berkeley and has been featured in the annual Skydancer's Festival: Women Who Fly Through the Air. Heather Noone was the team's support person, an avid unicyclist herself; she is also a therapist specializing in family and child mental health.

Jay Robb Enterprises, creators of YAMMIT! Nuggets and YAMMIT! Energy Bars has been producing high quality natural protein powders, nutrition bars, and health products since 1988. CEO and founder Jay Robb is a clinical nutritionist and author of the bestselling books The FRUIT FLUSH™ - 3-Day Detox, The Fat Burning Diet, and The FRUIT DIET. Allegations of 'Emotional Injury' Levied against California Nurse by Adventist Hospital Chain Senior Staff

Allegations of 'Emotional Injury' Levied against California Nurse by Adventist Hospital Chain Senior Staff

Eight restraining orders removed to federal court in latest bizarre twist of the Adventist Health System v. Barbara Clark legal battle.

Roseville, CA (PRWEB) July 5, 2006

The President, Vice President, General Counsel, Director of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Programs, and several other employees administering the workers’ compensation program at the Adventist Health System of Roseville have obtained temporary restraining orders (TRO) against a former employee nurse in Placer County Superior Court (see case no’s: S-CV-19493, 19494, 19495, 19496, 19497, 19498, 19359, 19352). The TROs claim that individual Adventist staffers and corporate officers have suffered “workplace emotional injury” while administering the workers’ compensation claim of Barbara Clark, R. N., who has been ordered to remain at least 100 yards away from each employee individually.

“I was compelled to remove all these TROs to the federal court serving Sacramento,” cited Clark. Indeed, case numbers in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California are now 2:06-CV-1465, 1466, 1467, 1468, 1470, 1471, 1472, 1473. Clark plans to file federal counter-claims against the Adventist hospital chain in the Sacramento federal court.

“This is just the newest attempt to quash injured workers that are aggressively pursuing their claims in the broken California work comp system,” said Larry Nign, an injured worker activist.

“Under California law anyone suffering workplace emotional injury has a workers’ compensation claim. It will be interesting to see if the senior staff of the Adventist hospital chain who filed these TROs do indeed have work comp psyche claims,” continued Nign. “I for one am bewildered and perplexed how eight such claims could be simultaneously filed,” said Nign.

Nign expressed concern that individuals with purported workplace emotional injury claims are still administering Clark’s work comp claim in a letter, July 3rd, to Carrie Nevans, director of the California Division of Workers Compensation (DWC).

Clark has been pursuing the Adventist Health System for violations of the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statues in an on-going lawsuit in Bakersfield (see Kern County Superior Court, S-1500-CV-245966-LPE). Retired California Supreme Court justice Armand Arabian is one of her attorneys in that case.

PAIRS Study Shows What Couples Are Fighting About, Offers Hope for Marriages

PAIRS Study Shows What Couples Are Fighting About, Offers Hope for Marriages

Nearly two-thirds of couples in committed relationships regularly argue with each other and more than a quarter quarrel more often than not. Researchers followed-up with hundreds of couples six months after they completed a nine-hour PAIRS Essentials class designed to improve communication, emotional understanding, and conflict resolution. Results of the follow-up study indicated a sharp decline in the frequency of disagreements with significant benefits for improving marriages, strengthening families and helping children succeed.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) April 2, 2010

Nearly two-thirds of couples in committed relationships regularly argue with each other and more than a quarter quarrel more often than not, according to a research study by the nonprofit PAIRS Foundation.

The major issues couples disagree about include family finance (83 percent), career decisions (76 percent), and dealing with in-laws (70 percent).

While most adults stick it out at home after a fight, four in ten at least sometimes leave the house following an argument, the study found.

For the study, PAIRS Foundation surveyed 750 men and women from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties who are in committed relationships. At the time of the survey, 83 percent of respondents were married.

Researchers followed-up with the couples six months after they completed a nine-hour PAIRS Essentials class in English or Spanish that delivered relationship skills training designed to improve communication, emotional understanding, and conflict resolution.

Results of the follow-up study indicated a sharp decline in the frequency of disagreements:
Family Finance: 37 percent increase in number of respondents reporting always agreeing on issues of family finance.   Dealing with In-Laws: 63 percent drop in couples that frequently disagree over ways of dealing with in-laws; 45 percent increase in those always agreeing.   Career Decisions: 87 percent increase in couples who report always agreeing on career decisions.   Leaving Home After Arguments: 70 percent decline in couples reporting leaving home after arguments almost every day; the number who reported never leaving the house after an argument increased to 75 percent, a nearly 30 percent improvement.   Frequency of Quarrels: 71 percent decline in couples reporting arguing most of the time; the number of couples who reported never arguing with their partner improved 97 percent.   Conversations that Matter: The percent who reported calmly discussing things as a couple more than once a day increased by 61 percent; the number of couples who reported never having calm discussions dropped 64 percent.

Nearly 60 percent of the participants in the study have minor children living at home.

Seth Eisenberg (http://www. pairs. com/setheisenberg), President of PAIRS Foundation, said the research findings offer important information for couples with children and policy-makers responsible for improving child welfare.

"When couples are able to work through the natural differences that arise in close relationships, they're much better able to provide security, stability and support for their children," Eisenberg said. "Children are profoundly impacted by their parents' relationships. The results show up in academic performance, self-esteem, ability to avoid peer pressures, drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, and economic well-being."

Lauren DelGandio, a PAIRS National Trainer who first attended the program with her husband three years ago to strengthen their 14-year marriage, said the skills training program is also an important resource for reducing school violence and bullying.

"Many of the behaviors that show up as bullying," DelGandio said, "can be traced to the breakdown of marriages, families, and relationships that are critically important to raising children." The mother of three school-age children, DelGandio said that in nearly every case of bullying that's received public attention, she's seen the impact on children who were not confiding in their parents or aggressive behaviors that can come from youngsters building up anger, sadness and frustration and taking those feelings out on others.

"Active, engaged mothers and fathers are the foundation of safe schools and communities," DelGandio said. "Youngsters need to see their parents successfully working through differences so they have examples for their own lives. Helping parents learn to understand emotions in themselves and others, along with practical skills to help make it safe for their children to confide the full range of their emotions, reduces the likelihood that youth will be victims or perpetrators of bullying," she said.

Amanda Falciglia, PAIRS Foundation's Research Director, said the survey group represented a diverse segment of the South Florida community, including 68 percent Hispanic, 16 percent Black, and 14 percent White. "Statistically significant improvements were consistent across all ethnic groups, gender and age," Falciglia said.

ID Analytics Wins in Prestigious International Predictive Technology and Data Mining Competition

ID Analytics Wins in Prestigious International Predictive Technology and Data Mining Competition

ID Analytics Team Awarded Second Place in the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Competition (KDD Cup)

Paris, France (PRWEB) June 29, 2009

ID Analytics, the leader in on-demand identity intelligence, announced today that the company's team won the second place award among the top data analysis companies in the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining competition (KDD Cup) organized by ACM Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, the most important and prestigious competition on data mining and analysis in the world.

The KDD Cup is the most rigorous and oldest data mining competition in the field of predictive technology and data mining. Every year, thousands of individuals from a broad range of industries compete to create the most sophisticated mathematical models to solve complex analytical problems from different disciplines such as medicine, marketing or environmental sciences.

ID Analytics' team placed second in the KDD Cup "fast challenge" and the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (ACM SIGKDD) officially presented ID Analytics with the award on June 28, 2009, at the 15th Annual ACM SIGKDD conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining in Paris, France.

The 2009 KDD Cup challenge was "Fast Scoring on a Large Database." Teams worked on large marketing databases from the French telecommunications company Orange to predict the propensity of customers to switch providers, buy new products or services, or signup for upgrades that increase the profitability of the sale. The overall goal was to beat the in-house Orange analytics system currently in place.

With 4,732 completed valid entries, each team had to download and pre-process the data, choose the right modeling algorithm, build the best model, and submit the results in a short period of time (within five days for the "fast challenge").

The 2009 ID Analytics effort was led by principal scientist Dr. Jianjun Xie, with a team comprised of scientists Dr. Viktoria Rojkova and Dr. Siddharth Pal, and chief technology officer, Dr. Stephen Coggeshall.

"ID Analytics earned this recognition based on its superior modeling technology and advanced analytics skills. Our analytics organization is an exceptional group of talented professionals with diverse expertise in engineering, physics, computer science and mathematics. They continuously create advanced analytical technology that provides businesses with predictions of the likelihood of identity risk associated with an individual and provides consumers, through MyIDScore. com, with a quick and easy way to assess their risk of identity fraud," said Coggeshall.

ID Analytics gives leading telecommunications, financial services, retailing, utility, ecommerce, and healthcare companies, as well as key government agencies, unprecedented visibility into individual identities. This allows organizations to drive new revenue opportunities, reduce financial losses, and comply with relevant federal regulations.

Historical winners of this competition are organizations with worldwide recognition and prestige in research such as the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the ATT Laboratories, IBM, Carnegie Mellon, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Indian Institute of Technology and the Chinese Academy of Science.

Physical Therapists Cover All Bases to Win the Reimbursement Battle and Increase their Patient Visits in the New Year

Physical Therapists Cover All Bases to Win the Reimbursement Battle and Increase their Patient Visits in the New Year

Measurable Solutions, a management training and consulting company, and, Billing Dynamix a physical therapy billing service network, are joining forces to provide practice owners with needed tools to improve their reimbursements and expand their practices.

Bellmore, NY (PRWEB) November 5, 2010

Measurable Solutions, a management training and consulting company, and, Billing Dynamix a physical therapy billing service network, are joining forces to provide practice owners with needed tools to improve their reimbursements and expand their practices.

“I hired my second PT in 3 months! My third PT after 7 months! I am still hiring and growing. I love how my own personal economy is indifferent to whatever else is occurring!” says Dr. Lisa J. Allen, PT, owner of BioMechanic Physical Therapy in Leesburg VA, and a client of Measurable Solutions.

“We invited Measurable Solutions, a management training and consulting company, to teach our growing network of practice owners the needed tools to expand their practices in a turbulent economic environment,” says David Macolino, President of Billing Dynamix, a platform for physical therapy practice management, documentation, and billing.

“The first most important aspect of managing your own practice is to maximize all activities that generate revenue and minimize the time you have to spend on any activities that cost you resources or time,”  says Shaun Kirk, physical therapist and President of Measurable Solutions.  “So that means that if more people knew about how good you are at what you do, then your practice expands. But if you spend lots of time documenting your visits or following up on billing instead of marketing or caring for your patients, then your practice will stagnate and you will drive yourself sick working too hard for too little.”

“Healthcare cost reduction will continue to be the mantra of our economy,” says David Macolino. “But we want our clients to continue to grow their profitability. So our answer to declining reimbursements and increasing regulatory scrutiny is patient growth and office management automation. Measurable Solutions helps build thriving practices by turning clinicians into effective executives.”

“We discovered that Billing Dynamix is especially effective in reducing practice administration costs and increasing its revenue. It’s unique all-in-one automated solution covers every aspect of profitable practice management from patient loyalty management, to rapid and compliant documentation, and to disciplined, 100% transparent, and accountable billing,” concludes Shaun Kirk.

About Measurable Solutions ( http://www. measurable-solutions. com] )
Measurable Solutions trains private practitioners to become executives in their practice. The primary focus is on applying an effective public relations and marketing program that increases patient volume. Their simple step-by-step program called the New Patient Course has helped nearly 2000 private practices expand without the owner having to leave the office and visit physicians.  It works for the big and the small practices alike.

About Billing Dynamix ( http://www. billingdynamix. com] )

Billing Dynamix unites hundreds of physical therapy and rehab billing systems nationwide on a single system. By consolidating operations, Billing Dynamix tracks payer performance from a single point of control, shares payer compliance rules globally, and continuously matches its physical therapy and rehabilitation billing rules to evolving payer's environment. Every provider on the network can view in real-time, the status of every single claim in process 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can find out more at billingdynamix. com.

Green Building Revolution is Hitting Home and Office, Reports a Special Issue of E - The Environmental Magazine

Green Building Revolution is Hitting Home and Office, Reports a Special Issue of E - The Environmental Magazine

The green building movement is starting to make serious progress, reports E - The Environmental Magazine in its January/February 2007 cover story (now posted at www. emagazine. com). Eco-friendly construction is on the rise, from single-family houses and planned communities to schools, hospitals and other large built environments.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) January 9, 2007

The green building movement is starting to make serious progress, reports E - The Environmental Magazine in its January/February 2007 cover story (now posted at www. emagazine. com). Eco-friendly construction is on the rise, from single-family houses and planned communities to schools, hospitals and other large built environments.

Today, five percent of new commercial construction meets standards set by the U. S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED), a voluntary, consensus-based standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Ten percent of new homes satisfy the federal government's Energy Star guidelines, meaning they're nearly one-third more energy-efficient than regulations require.

Still, considering that U. S. buildings put out about a third of the country's greenhouse gasses, at the rate green building is penetrating the market today it will be many years before we cut emissions by the 70 percent thought necessary to stabilize global climate.

The green building movement expands on the 1970s solar-energy craze, when drastic oil shortages spurred interest in sun-powered homes and President Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the White House (later removed by Ronald Reagan). When oil prices came back down, interest waned. But by the early 1990s, the green building movement took off again, broadening its focus to consider other issues such as the environmental impacts of materials and whether the buildings offer health benefits, according to Alex Wilson, president of Vermont-based BuildingGreen, executive editor of Environmental Building News and author of Your Green Home.

A number of cities around the country, including San Francisco (and neighboring Pleasanton, Berkeley and San Mateo), Boston, Seattle and Scottsdale, Arizona, are leading the way with laws that require new public buildings be green. So far, 54 cities and 23 federal agencies have adopted LEED standards for buildings, says Bill Browning, senior fellow for Rocky Mountain Institute and co-author of Green Development: Integrating Ecology and Real Estate.

Obstacles abound. Part of the problem is the resistance to change and refusal by some professionals to learn new methods. And the technology will continue to cost more until economies of scale are realized.

And there are doubters. Some question whether the term "green building" is too easily co-opted for marketing purposes. Some builders, they charge, do little more than erect townhouses that increase urban density rather than build energy-efficient products that are truly lighter on the land. Critics wonder whether efficiency standards, when applied, can be objectively proven to deliver desired results -- such as lower electric bills. Historic preservationists bristle at a perceived bias toward new edifices thrown up at the expense of older buildings that could instead by sustainably retrofitted while maintaining the character of a community.

Buildings are definitely energy hogs. While the SUV is the environmental bad-boy symbol, buildings consume far more energy than cars and trucks. It's estimated that commercial and residential buildings in the U. S. consume 65 percent of all electricity, as well as 12 percent of drinkable water and 40 percent of all raw materials.

"I believe that buildings are the worst thing that people do to the environment," says Rob Watson, former senior scientist at Natural Resources Defense Council. "We don't associate the fact that when we turn on a light switch, coal is mined in a mine. It goes to a power plant that comes up the stack as acid rain producing sulfur dioxide, planet-cooking carbon dioxide."

"The new green building movement arises from the realization that we can't go on living as we have in the past: that treating the environment in general and energy in particular as afterthoughts no longer makes sense," says author Bill McKibben. He was marking last October's opening of the 46-story glass-and-steel Hearst Tower in New York City. The building required 20 percent less steel than a conventional skyscraper and is made of 90 percent recycled material. Sensors there switch off lights when no one is in a room. "They're sensible, cost-effective, obvious [measures]," McKibben said. "Someday they'll be code. But for now they're noble, pioneering examples."

E - The Environmental Magazine distributes 50,000 copies six times per year to subscribers and bookstores. E is also the publisher of EarthTalk, a nationally-syndicated environmental Q&A column distributed free to over 1,100 newspapers and magazines throughout the United States and Canada (www. emagazine. com/earthtalk/aboute. html (http://www. emagazine. com/earthtalk/aboute. html)). Jack Wilson announces his campaign for the U. S. House of Representatives in the 1st District in Maryland. Jack will be challenging incumbent Democratic Congressman Frank Kratovil and potential GOP nominee Andy Harris.

Millersville, MD (PRWEB) April 2, 2010

Jack Wilson, Sr. formally announces his candidacy in the 2010 election for the U. S. House of Representatives. He seeks the House seat in Maryland District 1 currently held by Frank Kratovil (D).

Jack is an independent who strongly advocates limited government and fiscal responsibility… “I am running for Congress to help restore a government that reflects the values of the people of Maryland’s First Congressional District – a limited, fiscally responsible government that promotes economic growth and one that does not intrude in the lives of the American people.”

Jack Wilson has set clear campaign goals that reflect the values of voters throughout Maryland District 1. A mounting national debt and ever increasing budget deficits are crippling economic growth and the future competitiveness of our country. My unambiguous goals as the U. S. TCS Associates: A Sign Language Interpreting Agency Launches New Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) Service called TCSterps On-Demand

TCS Associates: A Sign Language Interpreting Agency Launches New Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) Service called TCSterps On-Demand

TCS Associates has launched TCSterps On-Demand, a comprehensive Video Relay Interpreting (VRI) service providing Sign Language Interpreting for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing people throughout the United States and Canada.

Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) October 1, 2009

TCS Associates (http://www. TCSassociates. com), (http://www. TCSassociates. com (http://www. TCSassociates. com)]) a total solutions provider for people with Disabilities, has launched TCSterps On-Demand, a comprehensive Video Relay Interpreting (VRI) service providing Sign Language Interpreting for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing people throughout the United States and Canada.

TCSterps On-Demand VRI service is an easy-to-use on-demand system that uses the latest Internet videoconferencing and web-based technologies to access sign language interpreting services without an interpreter on-site. Instead of having an interpreter physically present with the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and hearing parties, the interpreter is located at one of TCS Associates offices and facilitates communication remotely via video.

"No longer does a hospital have to wait hours for a live interpreter to arrive at 3 am on Christmas or New Year's Eve in a snowstorm. No longer does the hospital have to commit to long term leases of rapidly obsolete, heavy, bulky equipment. No longer does the hospital have to commit to minimum usage requirements. TCSterps On-Demand VRI service is available on a PC, laptop or TV," says Carissa Aiello of TCS Associates.

Individuals, organizations, hospitals, schools, and state and federal agencies can now easily fulfill the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and No Child Left Behind by subscribing to the TCSterps On-Demand VRI service. This new interpreting service uses highly skilled certified interpreters, a scarce resource, and its efficiencies can actually save individuals and organizations money.

CEO, Myrna Aiello explains, "TCS Associates has served the deaf community since 1982, and several of its employees are all long time practitioners. Now the group's expertise can be available to rural areas and in spontaneous situations, where onsite interpreters are hard to find."

TCS Associates has developed an easy to set up process that does not require extensive technical knowledge. In the past, using videoconferencing technology was a technically complicated process. Users had to set up dedicated ISDN lines, configure routers and videoconferencing technology. With just a computer, webcam and a high-speed broadband connection, customers can be up and running in no time with the TCSterps On-Demand VRI service.

The service is also available on small desktop devices or mounted on a wall to save floor space. With one click the organization, federal agency, hospital, pharmacy, health care provider, immigration or law enforcement officer, courtroom, school, post office, bank, etc. can access a live interpreter.

Presently, TCS Associates is using VRI to provide services to clients in state and federal agencies and educational institutions, as well as organizations in both the public and private sector.
For more information on TCSterps On-Demand VRI Service, please contact Carissa Aiello at (240) 292-7620.

Local Entrepreneurs Launch Eco-Friendly E-Commerce Site

Local Entrepreneurs Launch Eco-Friendly E-Commerce Site

Atlanta-based entrepreneur launches ShopGreenVillage. com, a web retailer focused on sustainable green products.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 25, 2008

Atlanta-based entrepreneur, Chuck Rose, has announced the launch of his newest venture, shopgreenvillage. com, a retail web site, which is meant to sell products which help to raise consumer consciousness about the environment.

Shopgreenvillage. com has partnered with Atlanta-based ecosource Home & Garden for a quick launch in order to capture the momentum of holiday shopping. Partner Chuck Rose says, "It was an easy way for us to get the site launched fast with quality products we could trust. Partnering with ecosource makes sense because they are tightly focused on sustainability, which is consistent with our vision." Rose went on to say that shopgreenvillage. com will quickly expand to include a broad array of green products in multiple categories for the Home, Garden, Bed, Bath and Body. "We'll even have a baby line, accessories and jewelry." Rose says. "There is so much more available today than there was 12 months ago. We want to source the products you've never seen, bring them together in a cool, one-stop-easy-to-shop site and make our products available nationally."

Currently, the site offers an array of eco-friendly, affordable gift ideas for the holidays, such as organic herb gardens for the window sill and soy candles packaged in handmade paper, which is sown with wildflower seeds. They aim to demonstrate that green products can be inexpensive and still be interesting and stylish.

The site is geared to unique products with a modern, urban aesthetic. It will aspire to carry 100% eco-friendly or fair trade, but recognizes that is not always possible. Rose says, "The goal will be to source consciously and to give back to communities and plans to partner with organizations such as such as 1% For the Planet."

With operations based out of a loft space in neighboring Decatur, Rose says that he chose his location carefully. "Decatur has always been a more conscious when it comes to sustainability. We hope to integrate quickly to become an active part of the exciting green movement happening here."

Additional benefits of prebiotics include support for immunity, heart and digestive health.

Camp Hill, PA (PRWEB) April 21, 2009

Previously available only through selected gastroenterology practices, Chiropractors can now offer patients the bone-health enhancing benefits of Prebiotic fiber directly in their practice as part of the Chiropractor Partner Program announced by Jackson GI Medical.

Prebiotic fibers are very specific plant-based soluble fibers that nourish beneficial colon bacteria. The prebiotic fiber in Prebiotin has also been demonstrated to enhance the immune function, reduce colon polyp and cancer factors, reduce triglycerides, reduce allergies and asthma, control appetite and weight, and also enhance bowel regularity. Additionally, Prebiotin users have noted marked improvement in disorders such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. A short list of relevant peer-reviewed studies is noted below. Gibdog Pet Supplies Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

Gibdog Pet Supplies Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

It's the first year anniversary for www. GibdogPetSupplies. com, source of all-natural dog treats and chews, and is marked by the opening of a new blog.

Novi, MI (PRWEB) June 29, 2008

Gibdog Pet Supplies is celebrating its first anniversary online, reflecting on a year of selling high-quality, all-natural pet treats and dog chews. As their product line continues to grow, they look back on the past year and forward to the next, working on their new informational blog and improving the customer experience.

"We have 2 dogs, and my fiancée and I are avid dog lovers," says Scott Gibson, owner and operator of www. GibdogPetSupplies. com, looking back on how he got started. "We were buying cow ears off eBay for quite some time, and the supplier we used to get them from suddenly disappeared. I thought that this would be a nice little business venture and decided to start buying them at bulk quantities and selling them to people, because they were really expensive in pet stores. We'd have a bulk supply for our dogs, and give people a lower price on their purchase."

The site began with cow ears, but soon branched out into other products, always keeping to a 100% natural product line. "I let the market dictate what products I selected," explains Scott, who spent a lot of time designing the site and carefully selecting products. "I did a lot of research as far as all-natural dog treats, and we pretty much chose the hot sellers and decided we would carry those items for people and their dogs."

Scott has also begun a blog at www. GibdogPetSuppliesBlog. com to help inform his customers about products and dog lifestyle articles, interweaving product updates and tips on dog training and care. "We're going to use the blog mostly for education, just to educate people about dog training, dog behavior, all-natural dog treats, and pretty much anything to do with dogs," he says. "We want to make sure that we educate people in all of those different categories. We're hoping that people will find some nice information."

The site never stops growing, with new items appearing based on their popularity in the marketplace. "The newest addition we have is a 7-9 inch knotted bully bone, which we added just after the 6-8 inch spiral bully stick and the 5 inch round braided crown bully stick," says Scott. "The hot sellers are pretty much all of our bully stick product line -- it's kind of the bread and butter of our store. We get orders for them every day, and it's the number one item on the market because of the chew time it takes for a dog to eat a stick. It keeps them occupied, plus it's healthy for them."

In the future, Scott is considering opening a brick and mortar store for his local community, but plans to continue the growing online superstore. He encourages customers to take part in his new blog and to browse the new additions to his catalog.

A number of risks and uncertainties could cause actual results to differ materially from those in the forward-looking statements. These risks include, but are not limited to, evolving demand for the company's software products and products that operate with the company's products; the company's ability to sustain license and service demand; the company's ability to leverage changes in technology; the company's ability to sustain customer renewal rates at current levels; the publication of opinions by industry and financial analysts about the company, its products and technology; the reliability of estimates of transaction and integration costs and benefits; the entry of new competitors or new offerings by existing competitors and the associated announcement of new products and technological advances by them; delays in localizing the company's products for new or existing markets; the ability to recruit and retain key personnel; delays in sales as a result of lengthy sales cycles; changes in operating expenses, pricing, timing of new product releases, the method of product distribution or product mix; timely and effective integration of newly acquired businesses; general economic conditions; exchange rate fluctuations; and, the global political environment. This April, Burt's Bees Launches FindYourBurt. com to Raise Eco-Consciousness and Have Some Fun In Honor of Earth Day. Downloadable Video and Photos available at www. magicbulletmedia. com/MNR/FindYourBurt

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 13, 2010

This April, Burt's Bees celebrates 40 years of Earth Day with a nod to none other than their namesake and co-founder, Burt Shavitz. Burt is no newcomer to the green movement. The beard and spirit behind the earth-friendly company participated in the first Earth Day celebration four decades ago and has been living lightly on the planet ever since. Burt has brought his love and respect for the natural world into the everyday practices of Burt's Bees for 25 years, and now he's encouraging everyone to "Find Their Burt" by discovering the earth-friendly potential in each of us.

At FindYourBurt. com (http://www. FindYourBurt. com), guests are invited into Burt's world and asked to discover for themselves pieces of Burt's simple, nature-loving persona and practices through an augmented reality experience. An uploaded picture or webcam view of yourself is transformed or "Burtified" according to your eco-motives. Whether it’s recycling the newspaper, refilling a water bottle, or using solar power, the Burt possibilities are endless and so are the ways to love the Earth.

Guests will also learn about the ways Burt's Bees is finding their Burt. Creating natural products for the whole body is a great start, but doing it without sending any waste to Landfill, that’s much better. They’re also reclaiming water that can be used again in their manufacturing process, saving an estimated 750,000 gallons of water per year. A lifestyle of well-being and sustainability for all is the company’s hope, but they too are on path to the greatest good. It’s a path of learning and being inspired by those who came before, like Burt and those who are leading the way forward, 40 years after the first Earth Day. That’s all of us.

This April, visit FindYourBurt. com to raise your eco-consciousness, find your Burt, and have some fun in honor of Earth Day. Check out ‘Burtified Live’ for live happenings on Earth Day in NYC.
