MedValue, the Leading Provider of Medical Claims Processing Services Signs up a Leading Midwest-based Third Party Administrator (TPA) as a New Client

MedValue, the Leading Provider of Medical Claims Processing Services Signs up a Leading Midwest-based Third Party Administrator (TPA) as a New Client

MedValueÂ’s Paper Claims to EDI Conversion service saves clients 30% to 40% off their existing costs of processing paper claims. Health Plans and TPAs are transitioning the front-end of their paper claims processing to MedValue at a rapid pace every month. MedValueÂ’s unique process is designed to deliver 99.5% plus accuracy, which cannot easily be derived by utilizing OCR solutions or through manual data entry of paper claims.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 18, 2005 -

– MedValue, the leading provider of Medical Claims Processing services recently announced that it has signed up a leading Midwest-based TPA for its proven service. MedValue’s Paper Claims to EDI Conversion service saves clients 30% to 40% off their existing costs of processing paper claims. Health Plans and TPAs are transitioning the front-end of their paper claims processing to MedValue at a rapid pace every month. MedValue’s unique process is designed to deliver 99.5% plus accuracy, which cannot be easily derived, by utilizing OCR solutions or through manual data entry of paper claims.

“TPAs have been buried by mountains of paper forever”, said President & CEO Raj Vaswani from MedValue’s Chicago headquarters. “We have developed an innovative, elegant, low cost solution for those TPAs who are unable to cost-effectively and accurately process paper claims in-house.”

The MedValue Paper Claims to EDI Conversion service is a turn-key solution that allows clientsÂ’ to cut claims processing costs, improve accuracy of paper claims adjudication, enhance productivity of claims examiners, and archive paper claims for easy and convenient access anytime from MedValueÂ’s Document Management System through an intuitive and secure web interface. If claims examiners are in multiple office locations or working from a home office, the service provides them with ease of use.

HIPAA compliance is also easily achieved with features like the electronic audit trail. Additionally no paper leaves the TPAÂ’s premises. Under natural disasters or emergency situations, the service provides redundancy through back-ups of data and storage of digital images outside of your premises.

“Our front-end claims processing service provides two key capabilities”, said Vaswani, “On the one hand it converts paper HCFA-1500, Dental, and UB-92 claims and stores them electronically in our web-based Document Management System (DMS) for easy retrieval at any time from anywhere within the TPA's organization. And on the other hand it converts the paper claim into a standard EDI stream (NSF or ANSI 837 - 4010 formats), similar to that which claims departments receive for EDI or electronic claims from Providers through their clearinghouses.

“No more handling of paper” said Vaswani. “Our solution is fast and easy to use. And it is fully CMS and HIPPA compliant. With fast turnaround and overnight delivery of Claims data and secure, instant access to Paper Claim images from anywhere 24*7, our clients gain improved productivity from their claims examiners who do not have to enter data manually any longer.”

And the best part is itÂ’s very affordable. Additionally, no upfront investment is required in additional hardware or software. TPAs can get started within 10 business days and start saving immediately.

Health Plans and TPAs who had 16 claims examiners to process 16000 claims per week, with MedValueÂ’s assistance require only 8 claims analysts to adjudicate paper claims because they no longer are required to perform manual data entry of paper claims before starting the adjudication process.

TV Show Documents Infertility Struggles

TV Show Documents Infertility Struggles

A documentary film crew in Ireland plans to follow 30 women as they attempt to overcome their infertility.

Memphis, TN (PRWEB) March 4, 2006

A new TV program in Ireland will follow 30 women as they struggle to have children, the Daily Record reported. Fifty percent of women who wait until after they’re 35 to have children will be unable to, said fertility expert Dr Gillian Blackwood.

Not being able to conceive can be one of life’s biggest struggles for many women, and they will often try anything to help improve their chances to become pregnant. Unfortunately fertility drugs, fertility cycle monitoring, and ovulation calculators don’t always work. There is also fear that the in vitro fertilization treatments they use could result in birth defects.

Sherry Hollingsworth considered in vitro fertilization after treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma left her struggling to conceive. “I was determined to overcome this infertility battle. I took three rounds of Clomid and it didn't work. I considered IUI and IVF, but was uneasy about the whole process.”

Hollingsworth turned to herbal supplements. “After only taking Ovulex for one month, I finally got pregnant,” she said.

A spokesman for Selmedica Healthcare Corporation said, “Ovulex is completely natural and has no harmful side effects. Taken daily, it has been proven 93% successful in women seeking to become pregnant.”

Low Carb Diet Plans are an Effective Way to Lose Weight and Maintain Weight Loss

Many people believe the low carb diet has fizzled out. This is untrue as recent studies have shown that a good low carb diet plan can be an effective weight loss tool.

Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) June 20, 2006

It has been widely reported that low carb diet plans were just another fad that would pass like the hoola-hoop. For a short while after Dr. Atkins' passing it seemed that this may have been true.

But with more and more research coming to light, such as recent findings that a low carb diet does not cause bone loss as was suspected, this type of diet has been making a comeback in the American psyche.

Many people have experienced tremendous results by committing to a low carb lifestyle. Not just for initial weight loss but for maintaining their target weight. Because that is exactly what this phenomenom is, a healthy way of life.

SuperKids Nutrition Earth Day Challenge: Grow Your Own Healthy Groceries

SuperKids Nutrition Earth Day Challenge: Grow Your Own Healthy Groceries

SuperKids Nutrition Website - superkidsnutrition. com – Offers Fun Earth-Friendly Activities to Get Kids and Parents Excited About Growing Nutritious Vegetables This Summer

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 14, 2010

In honor of Earth Day, SuperKids Nutrition is challenging families to grow their own healthy groceries! With the mission to “save the world, one healthy food at a time,” SuperKids Nutrition (http://www. superkidsnutrition. com/nutrition-vision. php), together with Joe Lamp’l, author, television gardening host and founder of joegardener. com, is offering advice on how families can grow healthy vegetables in backyard gardens. From squash and cucumbers to lettuce and tomatoes, the process of planting and growing healthy foods is a great way to teach kids about nutrition and gardening.

“The key to teaching kids about healthful eating is through fun, hands-on educational opportunities,” said Melissa Halas-Liang, SuperKids Nutrition founder. “Taking the steps to grow healthy foods is a great way to encourage kids to eat what they grow.”

This month, the organization’s website – http://www. superkidsnutrition. com (http://www. superkidsnutrition. com/)– offers gardening advice for families, tips on the most nutritious and easiest vegetables to grow in backyard gardens and fun garden and nutrition-related activities for kids. The site also features an interview with expert gardener, Joe Lamp’l that offers the following tips together with SuperKids Nutrition for first-time family gardeners:
Start From Seeds: Make it easy by starting with seeds so kids can see them grow. They'll be amazed. It's easy to engage them when they can take ownership. You can start with a little plot of land or a few pots. But, get them involved early in the process. Lamp’l suggests planting seeds in a small yogurt cup with holes for drainage and housing indoors by a window.

Yummy Yields: According to Halas-Liang, hands-on gardening is a great way to encourage picky eaters to become more adventurous when trying new nutritious foods. She suggests planting vegetables that appeal to kids’ palettes as well as have a quick yield – great for shorter attention spans! Lettuce and spinach grow quickly and are sure to please young palettes. You can eat them within 2-4 weeks of 'germination' if you want to enjoy them as micro greens. Squash also grows fast! There are many types of squash, from zucchini, to crookneck or yellow or green summer squash. Lemon or round cucumbers are also delicious and a hit with kids. Some kids actually ate these over sweets last summer. There are great varieties of cucumbers that kids will like, such as lemon and green fingers. They are easy to grow too. Radishes are the fastest growing edibles in the garden from seed to full maturity at around 29 days. Don't forget they come in a variety of colors – yellow, red, purple and white. Children may like a vegetable you don't prefer, so encourage them to try a variety.

Lessons from the Earth: Gardening will not only offer the opportunity to teach kids about growing healthy vegetables, it can also teach other valuable lessons according to Lamp’l: Math: Let kids take a hands-on approach and learn about measuring the spacing required between plants, countdown to the days to sprout, days to harvest, etc. Science: Kids will learn about the structure of a plant and how proper care and nutrition help grow a healthy plant – (just like a healthy body!) Art: There is nothing more beautiful than the art of nature. Gardening can help kids discover the artistic beauty of nature.

Super Crew® Makes Healthy Eating Fun for Kids
SuperKids Nutrition also offers a series of books featuring the Super Crew® (http://www. superkidsnutrition. com/sckids/index. php) to further teach kids about earth-friendly nutrition. Havoc at Hillside Market takes place at a Farmer’s Market and promotes locally-grown foods and in Super Baby Abigail’s Lunch Time Adventure, the Super Crew® grows their own garden to have the freshest tasting ingredients for their super-sandwich. Both books feature the Super Crew® characters, superhero kids who get powers from eating healthy foods of certain colors. In addition to the stories, each book provides parents with ideas on how to interest children about healthy nutrition and trying new foods. Books are available at superkidsnutrition. com.

Fitness Trainers Use TrekDesk to Keep Clients on Track

Fitness Trainers Use TrekDesk to Keep Clients on Track

Fitness trainers are paid to obsess about the progress of their clients. Their jobs depend upon measured and continued success. The TrekDesk treadmill desk is helping them achieve this goal.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) November 15, 2010

Fitness trainers, frustrated by clients that complain about not achieving the physical gains they desire, have a new tool in their arsenal: the TrekDesk Treadmill Desk.

“One of the largest challenges facing fitness trainers centers on what their clients do after their session is over for the day,” states TrekDesk CEO Steve Bordley. “It is difficult to achieve a high level of fitness in 30 minute sessions, 3 days a week. Because of this we have seen a sharp increase in interest from fitness trainers in the TrekDesk.”

Ron Deangelo is the Director of Sports Performance at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (one of the most recognized experts in physical training, handling many NBA and NFL All-Stars in his illustrious 20 year career).

Interviewed by ABC News Pittsburgh (WTAE) regarding the TrekDesk, he cited the problems employees and athletes alike encounter sitting for prolonged periods each and every day, “they end up getting cemented into those positions, so the hip in particular is usually the problem.” Ron noticed an immediate difference with a previously desk bound tri-athlete client using the TrekDesk: “As soon as we got him up and moving (with the TrekDesk) he made huge, huge strides.”

“TrekDesk is very popular among trainers, tri-athletes and runners,” stated Bordley. “They often grasp the concept quicker than the general population that health is dependent upon movement but you don’t have to be an athlete to walk slowly at your desk all day to reap the same benefits.”

Designed to fit any existing treadmill, TrekDesk is an affordable, full sized workstation that allows individuals the opportunity to gain the necessary amount of exercise daily to maintain health, prevent disease, strengthen muscles, boost mood and productivity, without requiring additional time during the day or extra motivation.

TrekDesk is currently available for sale online at TrekDesk. com for $479.00 including free shipping.

Portable Air Conditioners Bring Cool Relief to Sizzling Energy Bills

Portable Air Conditioners Bring Cool Relief to Sizzling Energy Bills

With electricity costs on the rise and the economy on the mend, many homeowners and apartment-dwellers are searching for economical ways to cool their homes this summer. Sylvane. com, an online retailer of solutions for healthy and comfortable living, has an answer. Consumers can stay comfortable while maximizing their cost-savings with an energy-efficient portable air conditioner.

Roswell, GA (PRWEB) May 20, 2009

Rising energy costs and a slowed economy have prompted many consumers to slash their energy budgets in order to conserve financial resources. However, with a hotter-than-average summer approaching, many are wondering how these strategies will fare with their costly cooling systems. In response, Sylvane. com, a provider of solutions for healthy and comfortable living, reminds us that a lower cooling bill is possible with an energy-efficient portable air conditioner (http://www. sylvane. com/portable-air-conditioners. html).

According to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, the average American household spends more than $2,200 a year in energy costs. Central heating and cooling systems account for roughly half of this estimate. "Many consumers rely primarily on central air conditioners to stay cool during the warmer months, without regard to the high price of continuous operation," said Steven Hong, president of Sylvane. com. As an alternative, portable air conditioning (http://www. sylvane. com/portable-air-conditioners. html) can keep you comfortable at a fraction of the cost of a central unit."

Portable air conditioners, such as the C425 and C535 Alen AC (http://www. sylvane. com/alen-air-conditioners. html) units, are designed to cool single rooms. "These appliances help consumers save energy and money by allowing them to shut down their central air conditioning systems and instead cool only the rooms they use the most," Hong said. "Financially, it doesn't make sense to cool every room in the house if you only spend time in your living room and your bedroom, for instance. Moreover, according to the U. S. Department of Energy, investing in a new, energy-efficient air conditioner can help the average consumer cut their annual cooling bill in half."

To help consumers realize energy - and cost-savings while still remaining comfortable, Sylvane. com offers a variety of energy-efficient portable ACs. "When shopping for a unit with efficiency in mind, consumers should look for the model's Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and take note of specialized features designed to allow for better control over energy consumption," said Douglas Zailskas, director of sales for Sylvane. com. "EER refers to a unit's cooling capacity expressed in BTUs divided by the watts of power used. The basic rule-of-thumb is: the higher the EER rating, the more efficient the unit."

Zailskas' top picks for energy savings include models from industry-giants Amcor (http://www. sylvane. com/amcor-air-conditioners. html) and Sunpentown. "With an EER of 14.46 - one of the highest in the industry - the Amcor NanoMax cools a 400-sq.-ft. room using minimal energy," he said. "Sunpentown portable air conditioners are also known for their higher-than-average EERs. Namely, the Sunpentown (http://www. sylvane. com/sunpentown. html) WA-7500M portable AC unit has an impressive EER of 14.0."

Alongside a desirable EER rating, portable ACs that are equipped with energy-saving features - such as programmable timers and thermostats - increase efficiency by giving consumers more control over operation. "Programmable timers allow you to preset on and off times for up to 24 hours. This prevents unnecessary operation and energy usage, which often occurs when you leave home for the day and forget to turn off the unit," Zailskas said. "Similarly, programmable thermostats initiate automatic temperature-guided cooling. You can use this feature to set your desired temperature and direct the unit to cycle on and off to maintain that temperature while saving power in the process." Soleus Air portable AC (http://www. sylvane. com/soleus-air. html) models include both of these functions as standard features.

Investing in an energy-efficient portable air conditioner not only helps consumers conserve money and energy - it can also help protect the environment. "We carry a number of models, including four new Haier AC (http://www. sylvane. com/haier-air-conditioners. html) units, that make use of eco-friendly refrigerants, such as R-410A, instead of the ozone-depleting R-22," Hong said. "This is a trend that is increasing among many portable AC manufacturers as they comply with the worldwide phase-out of chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants."

Workable Health & Safety…

Gloucestershire training company learning4business has received a seal of approval from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for its online course ‘Working Safely.’

Gloucestershire, UK (PRWEB) August 31, 2006

Gloucestershire training company learning4business has received a seal of approval from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for its online course ‘Working Safely.’

The course, which will be available this month, has been updated in order to conform to the new syllabus released by IOSH earlier this year. The new syllabus was produced in an attempt to demystify health and safety and this is reflected in an absence of jargon and an emphasis on the practical demands of day-to-day working life rather than legal detail.

Peter Howell, managing director of learning4business said, ‘We are delighted that our course has been approved by IOSH. We have been working with the Institution for three years now and we are always keen to ensure that we meet with their high standards.’

The 'Working Safely' course reflects the new syllabus which, as well as requiring a wider coverage of common hazards, also includes a new module dealing with health and safety and the environment. All 'Working Safely' courses run after 7th November 2006 must be approved by IOSH as complying with the new syllabus requirements.

New Strain of Flu Resistant to Most Medication

New Strain of Flu Resistant to Most Medication

Many states reporting unusually high number of flu cases -- experts recommend getting flu shot now.

Bloomington, MN (PRWEB) January 31, 2006

Flu season has just started in Minnesota, but experts predict large outbreaks due to a new strain of influenza. This new strain is resistant to Amantadine and Rimantadine, two drugs most successful at treating influenza in the past.

In areas where flu season has hit full force, like Arizona, hospitals are reporting an unusually high number of cases. Currently, the best drug options available are Tamiflu and a similar drug Relenza. However, with sufficient exposure to Tamiflu, the flu begins to develop resistance to it. "Tamiflu and Relenza are our best hope for treating a flu pandemic, such as the Avian Flu. As a result, we must only use these drugs when absolutely necessary for high risk patients," says Jim Nordin, M. D., head of HealthPartners Disease Surveillance System and HealthPartners Influenza Immunization program.

"With less medication to offer this year, immunization becomes even more important. If more people get immunized now, we could blunt the peak and save illness and death from the influenza virus for the rest of the season," says Nordin. "So far, this year's vaccine is a good match for the virus that is circulating," he added. The only people who should not receive a flu shot are:

-- Infants six months or younger

-- People who have a severe allergy to hens' eggs or other vaccine

 components

-- People who have had Guillain-Barré Syndrome less than six weeks after receiving a previous flu vaccine

-- People who are moderately or severely sick today (get vaccine when you recover)

Contact your health care provider for a flu shot appointment.

Despite WHO/UNICEF Push for “Rooming-in,” Mothers and Babies Being Separated at Birth

Despite WHO/UNICEF Push for “Rooming-in,” Mothers and Babies Being Separated at Birth

Mothers of newborns are not rooming-in with their babies, even when they think it is valuable, according to a study published in Birth.

(PRWEB) June 10, 2005

Mothers of newborns are not rooming-in with their babies, even when they think it is valuable, according to a study published in Birth.

Research supported by the Swedish Government and conducted in Stockholm, Sweden, suggests that mothers who left their babies in the hospital nursery at night more often perceived that the staff believed that was where the babies belonged. Of the mothers who did not room-in, 73% were in favor of the option but were influenced by negative staff attitudes toward night rooming-in. The mothers who did not room-in rated closeness between mother and infant lower and were more worried about their own and their babiesÂ’ sleep and disturbing noises, when compared with the mothers who chose to room-in.

“Negative staff attitudes towards night rooming-in might implicitly suggest to mothers that closeness between mothers and babies is not important,” said principal investigator, Kristin Svensson. “There is reason to believe that if mothers could be negatively influenced by staff attitude in this important matter, they could also be influenced in other factors including giving the breastfeeding baby formula, or not advocating breastfeeding on demand.”

Twenty-four-hour rooming-in is listed as an important step in the “Ten Steps” to promote and support breastfeeding by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. Despite this recommendation, hospitals in many countries are not practicing rooming-in around the clock. A recent survey in the United States showed that 26% of American infants stayed in nurseries at night, and in many European countries, Canada, the former USSR, and many other Eastern countries, rooming-in is not a common practice, despite the known benefits.

This study is published in the June 2005 issue of Birth. Media wishing to receive a PDF of this study please contact medicalnews@bos. blackwellpublishing. net.

Apex Heart Care, First Arizona Clinic to Install Shape-HF; New Medical Device Measures Patient Physiology to Define Shortness of Breath

Apex Heart Care, First Arizona Clinic to Install Shape-HF; New Medical Device Measures Patient Physiology to Define Shortness of Breath

"In cardiology, doctors have relied on chest x-rays, stress tests, CAT scans and MRIs," said Dr. Myron Licht, Apex Heart Care. "Using the Shape-HF is the next logical step, or paradigm shift, in better understanding heart failure and cardiopulmonary disease because it provides objective information--primal physiology markers--about a patient's condition."

Saint Paul, MN (PRWEB) February 23, 2010

"Shortness of breath is a fear of most patients and it's what brings them to see me initially," said Dr. Myron Licht, a double board certified, interventionally trained cardiologist practicing in Arizona since 1993. Physicians know that shortness of breath, or dypsnea, is complex and can arise from a number of anatomical and physiological causes.

According to Dr. Licht, defining the specific cause is now more simple because of a new medical device available at the Apex Heart Care clinic (http://www. apexheartcare. com/). That device is called the Shape-HF and it measures a patient's physiology in an easy, six-minute test that helps physicians identify the predominant source of shortness of breath, primarily the heart or lungs.

"In cardiology, doctors have relied on chest x-rays, stress tests, CAT scans and MRIs," said Dr. Licht. "Using the Shape-HF (http://www. shapemedsystems. com/products. html) is the next logical step, or paradigm shift, in better understanding heart failure and cardiopulmonary disease because it provides objective information--primal physiology markers--about a patient's condition."

In addition to defining a patient's physiological limitation, the Shape-HF also measures responses to pharmacotherapy and cardiac resynchronization therapy and unmasks exercise-induced changes in pulmonary vasculature. Patients can take the test with minimal exertion on a low-grade, low-intensity treadmill or step stool.

Dr. Licht uses his Shape-HF to measure patients with a variety of heart and lung ailments including heart failure, heart shunts, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary hypertension, and even a double lung transplant.

He recently saw a patient who was concerned about shortness of breath and sleep apnea. The patient had lost a significant amount of weight a year ago and currently weighs over 300 pounds. "Some might conclude that this patient needs to lose more weight before running any tests," said Dr. Licht. "When he concluded the Shape-HF test, we learned he had underlying problems related to cardiopulmonary hypertension, a serious health concern and something that may have been overlooked."

The Shape-HF results correlate to the New York Heart Association Classification values and because the test is easy to conduct, for both the patient and the physician, tests can be conducted regularly to track a patient's progress and assess patient risk for a cardiac event or hospitalization. "This device let's me see what cardiopulmonary shape my patients are in so I can accurately treat them and keep them from being readmitted to the hospital," said Dr. Licht. "This Shape-HF test is the right technology at the right time."

About Apex Heart Care
After 14 years of practicing non-invasive, invasive, and interventional cardiology, Dr. Licht now devotes 100% of his practice to perfecting office-based cardiology. He received his Osteopathic Medical Degree from the New York School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986 and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiac fellowship in 1993. Dr. Licht writes a blog called It's About Your Heart and is well-connected to the interventional, electrophysiologic, and hospital community in Arizona, with whom he collaborates when needed.

Read the Controversial New eBook That is Rocking the Plastic Surgery Industry!

Read the Controversial New eBook That is Rocking the Plastic Surgery Industry!

"How to Get High-Quality, Cheap Plastic Surgery", promises to help thousands of people save millions of dollars on superior quality cosmetic surgery procedures performed by the most qualified plastic surgeons.

(PRWEB) June 12, 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BONAO, Dominican Rep. (PRWEB) June 10, 2003 – The new ebook, "How to Get High-Quality, Cheap Plastic Surgery", by JoAnn M. Roselli is a comprehensive guide on the secrets behind getting the best quality of cosmetic/plastic surgery for pennies on the dollar of what the average American spends on cosmetic surgery each year, without the benefit of this cutting edge information.

"I discovered how to get great plastic surgery at 50-70% less than the prices I was being quoted by various surgeons on the internet and the cosmetic surgeons that I personally visited in Manhattan," said Ms. Roselli in a recent interview.

"After chatting with many other people who were in search of cosmetic surgery that they could actually afford...without putting themselves in debt for 10 or 15 years, I decided it was time that I shared my discovery with as many people as I could reach."

It was recently reported that 6.9 million Americans had cosmetic/plastic surgery last year. Most of them financed their surgery through companies that happily charge them outlandish interest rates and finance charges. People are unwittingly sacrificing their long-term financial security because they do not know that they have a choice.

"How to Get High-Quality, Cheap Plastic Surgery" addresses these issues, and encourages the reader towards alternative means of getting surgery that fits their budget, as well as offering creative ideas to raise capital to pay for cosmetic surgery instead of going deeper in debt.

The book also details the author's own experience of undergoing liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), arm lift and eyelid lift, and saving many thousands of dollars in the process.

The author has also included in-depth analyses of all of the most commonly requested procedures, graphic descriptions of the surgeries themselves, offers ideas on how to ease and speed recovery and the importance of emotional self-care.

"It's no secret that there is a major healthcare crisis in the United States and many other countries of the world. People are losing everything they have over just one major surgery.

What people need to know is that there are other very inexpensive options for getting cosmetic surgery, and there is absolutely no need to sacrifice quality to get great prices.

To me, it would be a shame for anyone to get themselves into a deep financial burden without first educating themselves about the options that are available to them with a little behind the scenes insight. The difference is between spending $1,800.00 to $3,000.00 once in your life and spending $300.00-$600.00 a month for the next 10 years! I'll let you do the math, but I think you'll find yourself leaning towards my suggestions..."

The author is a former medical transcriptionist who has lived and worked in Syracuse, NY, Charlotte, NC, New York City, and Tampa, FL. She currently resides in the Dominican Republic, where she works as a freelance writer.

The ebook is priced at $17.95 and is available for immediate download at

Http://www. cheap-plastic-surgery. com (http://www. cheap-plastic-surgery. com)

The author offers two complimentary original ebooklets entitled, "I Love Liposuction" and "Everything You Need to Know About Tummy Tuck Surgery". Both are available to the general public for immediate free download at www. cheap-plastic-surgery. com

First Address-Based Climate Reporting Service One-Year Anniversary - Mission & Initiatives Review

First Address-Based Climate Reporting Service One-Year Anniversary - Mission & Initiatives Review

The nation’s first online, address-based climate and environmental-risk-reporting service celebrates its one year anniversary this month, with notable first year results and a number of high-profile initiatives undertaken during that timeframe to further its climate change communication mission to the public.

Easton, Conn., (PRWEB) November 30, 2007

The nation’s first online, address-based climate and environmental-risk-reporting service celebrates its one year anniversary this month, with notable first year results and a number of high-profile initiatives undertaken during that timeframe to further its climate change communication mission to the public. “We are very pleased to reach the one-year mark with such a critical address-based climate change communication mission. In that time, we have had tens of thousands of visitors to our site from all over the U. S., and thousands of report requests, many with mission inspiring feedback. As importantly, we have pursued a number of climate change communication initiatives that should help tip awareness into action to mitigate climate change” said David H. Purcell, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Climate Appraisal Services, LLC.

Since Climate Appraisal was launched in November 2006, there have been an almost constant stream of serious environmental events in which climate change may or may not have left its fingerprints, including 1) the first two Atlantic hurricanes this season reaching Category 5, the first time since record-keeping began, 2) an “exceptional” drought in the southeast threatening water supplies, and a long-term drought in the west fueling wildfires 3) a set of wildfires in southern California displacing over 500,000 and causing major property loss, 4) extreme summer heat-waves in the south linked to over 50 deaths, 5) a record outbreak of tornadoes in October, 6) extreme weather and record rainfall in the Midwest and Texas causing loss of life, and 7) average September water levels in Lake Superior dipping below the previous 1926 low. “We are extremely concerned about these events, and encourage people to assess their potentially increasing environmental risk as it could impact property value and quality of life,” said Purcell.

To date, Climate Appraisal web traffic statistics have recorded almost one hundred federal, state and local governmental agencies visiting the site, including traffic from domain network addresses at the White House, State Department, Senate, House, Department of Justice, Securities & Exchange Commission, and the Treasury. Climate Appraisal has also been visited by a number of science dedicated agencies who have enabled its communication mission by systematically and actionably creating environmental risk data over many decades, including NASA, NOAA, EPA, USGS, USDA, DOE & FEMA – “we would sincerely like to thank all those agencies for the incredible work they do to provide information to the public”, said Purcell.

In addition, Climate Appraisal has recorded significant interest from international visitors from over 90 countries, including frequent traffic from domain network addresses in Canada, Argentina, Australia, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium, India, Mexico, Germany, and France. “We would like to thank all our international visitors to the Climate Appraisal site, we are extremely proud that they would find our U. S. based mission of such interest,” said Purcell.

In keeping with the educational aspects of its mission, Climate Appraisal has recorded visitors from over 700 educational networks all over the U. S. “Every day that we have visitors from educational institutions reminds us how critically important our mission is to future generations, as the current working and retired generations continue to struggle with implementing major initiatives now to avoid the most damaging potential impacts from climate change while there is still time. It is the people and countries who act now who will be most able to help mitigate and if necessary withstand the worst case climate change impacts projected,” said Purcell.

Mission Initiatives Review: In review of its first year initiatives, Climate Appraisal has actively pursued 1) clarification from the Securities & Exchange Commission on its public company review criteria, and whether or not it is now actively applying Regulation S-K to enforce disclosure of coastal asset liability from potential climate change driven sea-level-rise, 2) comments on three Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) new or expanded liquid natural gas distribution terminals, resulting to date in ground-breaking comments in response on the risk of climate change driven sea-level-rise to two of those projects in FERC’s final approvals, 3) a position from the National Association of Realtors on disclosure of potential climate change driven sea-level-rise risk to coastline homebuyers, which to-date real estate agents are not legally required to disclose, and 4) communication of location specific potential climate change risks in a highly regarded organization’s future recommendations of the best places to retire, as retirees may be at high climate change risk in moving to certain areas.

In addition to its initiatives, Climate Appraisal has received press recognition of its first-of-its-kind address-based climate change communication mission from a variety of major news sources, including USA Today, Dow Jones MarketWatch, Reuters, WBZTV Boston and the Nature Journal.

“We are quite proud of our mission achievements as measured by our visitors, report requests, public feedback and press reception. Equally as important, we have expanded our communication mission to include operating as a change agent in moving climate initiatives forward in a variety of governmental and business arenas,” said Dr. Jonathan Overpeck, Lead Science Advisor and professor of Geosciences at The University of Arizona, a specialist in climate dynamics, climate-vegetation interactions, and environmental decision-support. Dr. Overpeck has won numerous professional awards for his climate work, including sharing the Nobel Peace Prize this year for his work with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

In addition to Dr. Overpeck, the Climate Appraisal Services Science Advisor team includes Dr. Susan Beck, The University of Arizona, Professor of Geosciences and a specialist in seismology, tectonics, and geological hazards, and Dr. Andrew C. Comrie, The University of Arizona, a Professor of Geography and of Atmospheric Sciences, whose specialties include climatology, climate and health and air quality science.

Author Amelia Davis Releases Her Third Photographic Essay on Living with Chronic Disease and Disability

Renowned photographer Amelia Davis releases her gorgeously illustrated book on living with osteoporosis. It is the third title in a series of photographic essays on living with chronic disease and disability.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 9, 2005

Renowned photographer Amelia Davis releases her gorgeously illustrated book on living with osteoporosis. It is the third title in a series of photographic essays on living with chronic disease and disability.

“This important book documents the stories of people who are living with osteoporosis. The book will help you understand the silent and devastating impact of the disease. I hope that you will learn from these brave individuals who share their stories with you. We must educate and empower people through knowledge. Together, I hope we can eliminate osteoporosis as a major health problem.” - Dianne Feinstein, United States Senator

Renowned photographer Amelia Davis turns her lens on those living with osteoporotic disease in her fascinating new book, Faces of Osteoporosis. With this beautifully illustrated work, Ms. Davis communicates the message that osteoporosis affects both women and men across the life span, is both preventable and treatable, and should not be considered part of normal aging. In the United States alone there are almost 35 million people living with the disease and that number continues to grow.

Presented in this book are the inspirational stories of women, men, and even children who live with osteoporosis. Treatments, therapies, and diets are discussed and shared, from the latest advances in prescription medication to the healing power of exercise.

The book's beautiful photographs and candid personal stories will have a positive affect on the way people view individuals with osteoporosis, and serve as a touchstone for those living with this condition. It smashes the stereotype of osteoporosis as a disease of older women, showing that the disease has myriad faces, not just one.

CREDENTIALS: A San Francisco native, Amelia Davis's photography has been featured in fine art galleries, universities, and medical symposia, and been published in literary and art magazines internationally. She is the author and photographer of the award-winning The First Look, a photographic essay on breast cancer survivors who opted for mastectomy.

Her second critically acclaimed book, My Story: A Photographic Essay on Life with Multiple Sclerosis was a very personal look in words and pictures at multiple sclerosis. Amelia herself was diagnosed with MS in 1998.

UK Travellers Worry About Illness Abroad

UK Travellers Worry About Illness Abroad

Health concerns prompt the Post Office to remind UK tourists of the need for travel insurance

London, UK (PRWeb UK) March 20, 2010

TripAdvisor's annual travel trends survey recently revealed that UK holidaymakers are increasingly concerned about catching illnesses such as the flu while overseas. The research also showed that seven per cent of UK travellers' holiday plans are likely to be affected by illness during the coming year.

Despite worries regarding falling ill while abroad, a recent study by Post Office Travel Insurance (http://www. postoffice. co. uk/portal/po/jump1?catId=62900708&mediaId=63300708) revealed that almost half of holidaymakers (44 per cent) do not research whether vaccinations are recommended before they travel.

Post Office Travel Insurance research also discovered that 22 per cent of holidaymakers would consider going away without travel insurance in place, and half of those surveyed fail to check the small print of their travel insurance documents once they have taken out a travel insurance policy.

The Post Office recommends that all UK travellers have suitable travel insurance policies in place to address any concerns about falling sick while abroad, as well as fully understanding the vaccination requirements needed for their chosen destination. Failure to be suitably vaccinated increases the risk of invalidating travel insurance policies, should illness strike and medical treatment become necessary.

According to Post Office Travel Insurance, travellers often wrongly assume that any required medical treatment is covered by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). However Post Office Travel Insurance advises that an EHIC doesn't act as a replacement for travel insurance itself. The Post Office therefore recommends that UK travellers abroad make sure travel insurance policies are up to date.

Research and Markets: Market for Organic Food and Beverages Growing At A Rapid Pace

Research and Markets: Market for Organic Food and Beverages Growing At A Rapid Pace

Research and Markets (researchandmarkets. com/reports/c14255) has announced the addition of Organic Foods and Beverages Assessment Report 2005 to their offering.

(PRWEB) March 23, 2005

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c14255 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c14255)) has announced the addition of Organic Foods and Beverages Assessment Report 2005 to their offering.

This report attempts to comprehend and analyze the present trends and opportunities in the organic food sector. Organic foods comprise those vegetables, fruits, grains and other edible agricultural and dairy products that are produced without the use of any harmful pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth hormones, or genetically improved seeds, or livestock. Of late, the demand for organic foods has swelled, which has further secured continuous supply, lower prices, and ensured their availability to each and every customer.

The organic food industry has been growing remarkably for the past several years. The market has grown by 30% in value since the year 1997-98 and again by 32.6% in the year 2001-02. According to Nutrition Business Journal of San Diego, California, U. S. consumer sales of organic food in 2003 was $7.9 billion as compared to the sales in 1997 at $3.7 billion. The market for organic foods and beverages is still growing at a rapid pace and is expected to generate sales of $32.3 billion by 2009, according to a new report from ‘Packaged Facts’. Against the 2 to 3 percent growth in the conventional food industry, the organic industry has been experiencing annual growth between 17 and 22 percent over the past several years.

One of the key factors behind this growth is, the increasing consumer awareness of health and environmental issues along with an increasing resistance towards genetically modified food products and GM farming. The aggressive and targeted marketing and promotion by the retail sector is also an important factor. Also, the fact that the countryÂ’s leading food manufacturers are now diverting their attention to developing organic product lines is also assisting the growing figures.

Report Highlights:

Information on the global market size, as well as regional shares. Detailed product wise retail sales classification. Overall view of the import and export market. SWOT analysis of the organic food industry. In-depth information on the new opportunities that are opening up, and the challenges facing this industry. Close examination of the consumer behavior pattern.

Report Features:

This report on Organic Food Market provides the most detailed and up-to-date analysis and insight into the Organic food Market. It concentrates on the market for organic foods and focuses on the market trends for organic products worldwide. Chapter 3 of the report presents the organic food market in perspective, while Chapter 4 talks about the 4 ethical and strategic regulations related to organic faming. Chapters 6 and 7 discuss the global scenario, and Chapter 10 enlists the challenges and market opportunities.

Contents include:

Half of Internet "Viagra" could be fake: study

Half of Internet "Viagra" could be fake: study

As many as half of the Viagra anti-impotence pills sold on the Internet could be counterfeit, British scientists said on Tuesday.

(PRWEB) October 1, 2004

As many as half of the Viagra anti-impotence pills sold on the Internet could be counterfeit, British scientists said on Tuesday.

They analyzed samples of Viagra sold on Web sites and found that some of the little blue pills contained different components or less of the active ingredient than the top-selling drug made by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc.

"On our initial estimate, around half of those Viagra samples could be counterfeit," Dr. Nic Wilson, of the University of London, told the British Pharmaceutical Conference.

Viagra, which works by allowing more blood-flow to the penis during sexual arousal, is a lifestyle drug, along with hair-loss and weight treatments. All of these types of drug are widely available on the Internet and major targets for counterfeiters.

With impotence, or erectile dysfunction (ED), affecting about 152 million men worldwide, there is a huge market for the treatment. It is estimated that half of all men older than 40 experience some degree of ED, which increases with age. About 95 percent of cases can be successfully treated.

The bogus drugs were branded and labeled Viagra and came in identical packaging to the real thing.

"What we are talking about is somebody selling something as Viagra which is clearly not made by Pfizer," Wilson's colleague Professor Tony Moffat said in a telephone interview.

The scientists are not sure whether wrong components in the bogus pills are harmful, but at the very least it is highly probable the fakes will not work.

If the counterfeiters get the dose wrong and the bogus pills contain too much of the active ingredient, sildenafil, it could be dangerous.

"Part of the side reaction of the sildenafil is increased heart pressure, so people could get heart attacks," Moffat added.

"If you go to a site that looks a bit wonky, they are selling it cheap and you've got no address or idea where they are based, you are chancing it."

Wilson and Moffat used a technique called near infrared (NIR) microscopy, which provides a more detailed picture of what is in a tablet and its active ingredients to separate the fakes from the real thing.

The researchers tested the technique on known counterfeit Viagra before using it on pills they bought on the Internet. Pills arrived from a variety of countries including Thailand, India and Malta.

Eventually they believe the technology will be able to track the counterfeit products across the world.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 11, 2008

The Everychild Foundation announces its $1 million grant award winner on Thursday, November 13 in Los Angeles, Calif.

WHEN: Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 1:00 p. m.
WHERE: 12735 Hanover Street, Los Angeles, CA 90049

About the Everychild Foundation (ECF):
The Everychild Foundation was born out of the belief that there is a group of women in Los Angeles who together can award grants to make a serious difference in the lives of children in need. All of Everychild's funds are derived from member dues in lieu of fundraising events, which can often be costly and require many hours of planning. Each woman contributes $5,000 in annual dues and has an equal vote in the grant decision.

Each year, the group of 225 philanthropic women selects one project to grant an award of $1 million. The project must fill a critical unmet need of children in the Los Angeles area, easing suffering due to disease, disability, abuse neglect or poverty. This year, there are two finalists with amazing projects that are vying for the grant - The Child and Family Guidance Center and The St. John's Well Child and Family Center. This will be the foundation's 9th grant award and its third for $1 million. Press is invited to attend the grant winner announcement on Thursday, November 13th. Their year long efforts will come to an exciting moment as the members gather to open and tally the ballots.

About the Two ECF Grant Finalists:
The Child and Family Guidance Center serving the greater San Fernando Valley and the Antelope Valley has requested the Everychild grant to support its Champions for Children expansion project. The award would be used towards the prevention of out-of-home placement of at-risk children and youth, striving to keep families together. The money would also support their efforts to decrease children's rates of antisocial behavior and other serious problems, improve family functioning and increase the number of bilingual mental health professionals who will serve these at risk children.

St. John's Well Child and Family Center, serving an area with one million residents that include South Los Angeles and Compton, has requested the Everychild grant to implement Healthy Homes, Health Kids. This is an environmental health project that uses a holistic approach to help children who have literally been sickened by slum housing. It targets two primary illnesses - asthma, one of the leading causes of missed school days, and lead poisoning, which can lead to brain damage, kidney disease and nerve damage. The proposed program will integrate comprehensive pediatric medical care with education, case management, services and tenant assistance to reduce children's exposure to health hazards present in their homes.

Past recipients of the Everychild Foundation grants include: Mar Vista Family Center (2007), Heart of Los Angeles Youth (2006), Los Angeles Orthopedic Hospital (2005), Hillsides (2004), Optimist Youth Homes (2003), Violence Intervention Program (2002), Wonder of Reading (2001), and Queens Care (2000).

"My last novel, SWEETWATER, is as much about the natural world as it is about the people who inhabit it," Robinson reports. "The natural world, with its extraordinary beauty, its fascinating complexity and its terrifying fragility, has become increasingly important to me. How could I not write about something that is so crucial to everyone's lives?"

The Biggest Splash Of The Season

MarXana Brand Foods introduces a distinctive new line of five delicious pomegranate-based sauces, appropriately named "Splash".

Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 7, 2007

MarXana Brand Foods introduces a distinctive new line of five delicious pomegranate-based sauces, appropriately named "Splash". These all-natural, micro-brewed reductions combine the lush sweet-tart flavor of pomegranate molasses, wine and the natural essence of various berries into a mouthful of bursting flavor.

Manufacturer and owner, Jules Silver, of MarXana Brand Foods and Club Sauce came up with the idea of using pomegranate as a base for these reduction sauces several years ago. Knowing the fruit is widely enjoyed throughout the Indo-European countries for cooking, flavoring and their many health benefits made the pomegranate a natural choice. "The prospect of creating a sauce that is refreshingly different and easy to use is just what the American palate needs," he said.

A combination of beautiful all-natural ruby red pomegranate molasses (no sugars or sweeteners added), wine and berry essence is micro-brewed in small batches and slowly reduced in special kettles. This process marries the piquant flavors of the various ingredients into a thick sauce known as a reduction.

Jules says, "it only takes a splash to add a whole lot of flavor to a recipe." Splash these reductions on ice cream, toss with berries or use to baste grilled fruit. They are delicious with oatmeal, yogurt,
And in salads. Use as a marinade, glaze pork, duck, chicken, fish, seafood, pan sauces, martinis, cheese cake, cheeses, tofu, rice and polenta. It is a "Sassy Splash of Flavor" that is delicious on just

Dispelling Myths about Anxiety in Children

Dispelling Myths about Anxiety in Children

By Timothy A. Sisemore, Ph. D., author of 'I Bet I Won't Fret' and 'Free from OCD'

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) September 30, 2010

Many people are misinformed about children’s worries and anxieties. It’s time to dispel some of the myths that are common today.

Myth #1: While children have some fears, true problems with anxiety are rare.
Actually, anxiety disorders are the largest mental health issue for children and young people (and for adults, for that matter). They are just harder to notice and aren’t usually disruptive, so they get less publicity than problems like ADHD where the behavior is easier to spot and may irritate others.

Myth #2: Children often tell their parents about their worries.
This can be true, but many times it isn’t. If it is a one time worry, parents are helpful if they respond by explaining why things will be OK, or comforting the child if the outcome is uncertain (for example, a very sick grandparent). However, many times children don’t tell parents their worries lest they upset their parents or if they feel their parents might not understand. Anxious kids are often pleasers, so they may not risk your displeasure by telling you.

Myth #3: Children always outgrow their fears.
OK, so this is a little tricky. Certainly, many children outgrow most of their fears. Lots of transient fears are normal at certain stages of development and pass as the child matures. These grow into clinical anxiety when one fear lasts too long (a ten year old probably shouldn’t be scared to spend the night away from home with a friend) or when new ones keep replacing old ones so that the child is constantly worried about one thing or another.

Myth #4: A loving parent always comforts children and protects them from their fears.
“Always” is the key word. When a child has normal fears about normal things, comfort is usually in order. However, when the fear is irrational or excessive, a child benefits from being led into overcoming it. When my six year old daughter asked me to carry her across our porch to avoid ants (not the dangerous kind) that scared her, I gently refused and had her (somewhat reluctantly) join me on the porch for a little session on the harmlessness of ants. Problem resolved.

Myth #5: A good parent discourages a child from worrying too much by telling him that it’s no big deal and to quit acting so afraid.
One of the strangest things we do is simply tell kids “Don’t worry.” After all, how many of us simply stop worrying when told to do so? This may lead the child to feel like a failure if the worries continue, and keep worries to himself to avoid disapproval. It is better to offer empathy for the frustration of worry and its persistence. You are then in a better position to offer specific steps to help the child overcome the worry, not just dismiss it.

Myth #6: If a child is anxious, it’s her parents’ fault.
This can be true, but by no means is it always so. Parents can contribute to children’s anxiety through their genes, as many anxiety disorders have a clear genetic relationship. Parents can also teach children to be anxious by being overly anxious or overly protective themselves. If you as a parent work on your own anxiety, it will set a good model to the child, but the child can certainly develop worries and anxieties independently of parents due to a life experience or particular thought patterns.

Myth #7: School personnel are good at picking up anxiety.
Sadly, this is far from true. Some teachers are better than others, but anxious children – for the most part – don’t want to be noticed or draw undue attention from teachers. Many times these children will work hard to bottle their fears as best they can at school to avoid suspicion, then fall apart once home. Teachers more easily notice children who act badly. That’s why many anxious children never get the help that would ease their silent suffering.

Myth #8: If I ask my child about his anxiety, it’ll only make him worry more.
Most often this isn’t the case. Some anxious children try so hard to be perfect that thinking something is “wrong” will add a worry. However, if there really is a problem, it can’t be fixed until admitted and addressed. Anxiety is often very successfully treated and I hope you give your child the chance to beat it, not just deny it.

Myth #9: Medication is the only treatment for anxious children.
Happily, this isn’t true by any means. Many children with severe anxiety benefit from medications, but often they are tried too quickly. Kindly helping children confront fears, or working through available workbooks (like mine!) can help. If those don’t suffice, then a form of counseling called cognitive-behavioral therapy has great research to support its effectiveness. If that, too, comes short, or the anxiety is debilitating, then consulting a physician for medication is in order.

Myth #10: My child will only feel more anxious about something being wrong with her if I take her to a psychotherapist.
This is sometimes true, particularly with Obsessive – Compulsive Disorder where the child attempts to control life so tightly to avoid feeling imperfect. Paradoxically, these are often the cases that can benefit most from counseling. For most anxious children, however, having someone coach them through their worries that has worked with other anxious children and understands theirs will come as a relief. Many of the children I see entered therapy when they asked their parents to get them help.

Being proactive in dealing with children’s anxiety early can greatly enhance their quality of life and prevent suffering in adulthood. If you know an anxious child, take steps to encourage and help them with the battle. They will thank you for it later.

Timothy A. Sisemore, Ph. D. is professor of counseling and psychology at Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and maintains a private practice in clinical psychology. He is the author of I Bet I Won't Fret: A Workbook to Help Children with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (New Harbinger Publications, 2008) and Free from OCD: A Workbook for Teens with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (New Harbinger Publications, 2010).

CareSeek Launches Travel Study Program for Nurses

CareSeek Launches Travel Study Program for Nurses

CareSeek combines continuing nurse education and custom adventure travel in a unique "Travel and Learn" program.

Solvang, CA (PRWEB) April 21, 2008

CareSeek. com, an online social network where nurses recommend healthcare providers, offers nurses both education and adventure with a 10-Day Tour of Italy which includes 10 hours of CNE (Continuing Nurse Education). Planned for late October, 2008, the "Italy Dream Tour" (http://www. careseek. com/content/promo5.aspx) represents the first in CareSeek's Travel and Learn program, specifically designed to provide inspiring vacations to those seeking a global perspective of culture and care. The itinerary is appropriate for all travelers over the age of 12, and provides alternative activities for those who do not wish to participate in the educational features.

The inspirational tour begins in Rome, where a private visit to the Vatican is arranged, followed by Florence, a winery tour in Tuscany, Bologna and Venice. In keeping with the healthcare theme, the tour includes medical museums and the birthplace of Florence Nightingale, plus a hosted visit to a modern Italian health clinic. The curriculum, is being presented by Shannon E. Perry, RN, PhD, FAAN (http://www. careseek. com/content/content_05.aspx), researcher and Professor Emerita, School of Nursing, San Francisco State University, and provides 10 hours of accredited nurse education. CareSeek has created the Italy tour to promote an appreciation of the Renaissance of medicine, as well as sharing modern protocols with today's care providers.

When Gale Wilson-Steele, CEO of CareSeek, Inc., surveyed nurses in order to select the inaugural "Travel and Learn" destination, she discovered, "While nurses give their lives to helping others, they dream of exotic escapes. We've designed a custom tour that fulfills CNE requirements by offering an international and historical viewpoint of medicine as well as the adventure and charm of an Italian vacation." Carefully chosen historic inns and a small tour size insure a rewarding experience for nurses and non-healthcare professionals alike.

The cost of the Italy Dream Tour is $2495 per person/double occupancy, and includes upscale lodging, all breakfasts, special celebratory meals, custom tours, water taxis and land transportation. Reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be held by deposit of $500 before June 15, 2008. Academy of Functional Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology Provides the Solution to Diagnosing the Root Biochemical Causes of Chronic Diseases

Academy of Functional Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology Provides the Solution to Diagnosing the Root Biochemical Causes of Chronic Diseases

The Academy of Functional Medicine, Dentistry & Psychology, LLC, is now enrolling health practitioners for the fall semester for its on-line webinar classes. According to its Chief Science Officer, Dr. C. E. Gant, (MD, PhD), “Once participants begin to appreciate the wisdom of investigating, the unique, root, biochemical causes of suffering in each patient, they will never be satisfied with guessing again.” He then quoted what one would call the Functional Medicine creed, “If you don’t test, you’ve guessed.”

Folsom, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2010

The Academy of Functional Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology, LLC, seeks to educate practitioners on the benefits of performing medical testing, diagnosis and treatment strategies as it relates to all chronic diseases.

While modern medicine has made astonishing advances in the treatment of acute healthcare problems, consumers are increasingly suffering from chronic diseases, such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, addictions, depression, heart disease and auto-immune disorders. There are many tools to address chronic health problems in a doctor’s toolbox, however, only Functional Medicine offers the comprehensive set of specialized technologies to assist practitioners in getting to the root biochemical causes of these chronic problems.

Dr. Gant, an internist, has provided healthcare for tens-of-thousands of patients for over three decades. In his opinion, authentic ‘care’ entails taking the time and making the effort to deeply understand the root, unique and physical causes of each patient’s suffering.

Under the urging of the Academy’s executive staff, (one being a former patient of Dr. Gant’s), he formulated the Academy’s Functional Medicine curriculum, the most comprehensive in the field, with the goal to educate as many practitioners as practical on these methodologies. Dr. Gant and the Academy’s staff believe that the so-called ‘healthcare crisis’ is a crisis of ignorance, a preoccupation with diagnostic labels and diseases which somehow magically ‘just happen’ without well-defined causes.

Dr. Gant states that he has always cared too much about his patients to allow them to suffer from this delusion. He not only carries out this premise throughout his practice, but also to his students. He makes it clear that all chronic diseases, maladies, disorders and illnesses are merely fantasized labels for various types of mental and physical suffering that have been invented over the ages before science knew what the underlying causes actually were. Through the Academy’s Functional Medicine Certification Program, he carefully and urgently compels his students to break through this level of ignorance and to achieve far better outcomes than that of mainstream medicine.

The Functional Medicine Certification’s 72-week program, offers a ‘live’ webinar format. It is also divided into six-modules, so that students can select specific modules and participate from the convenience of their home, at their own pace, and on their own schedule. All sessions are recorded so missed sessions can be made up. Its structure is highly participative with extensive review of case studies, forums and discussions. Gant incorporated this approach to enhance learning transfer. To quote his analogy, “a student pilot can only resort to theory for so long. At some point, they need to get into the cockpit and fly the plane.”

Dr. Gant, along with other Academy instructors employ this method as the emphasis of the curriculum will be on learning "how to think" about medical and psychiatric disorders through biochemical and physiological investigations, rather than on what to think, which is a more conventional approach to learning about healthcare matters.

Upon completion of the program, one is prepared to implement this "new way of thinking". This exciting paradigm shift has refreshed many healthcare practitioner careers as every patient now approached teaches them new information as they investigate the underlying, scientific basis of their suffering.

The Functional Medicine Certification Program, now entering its third year continues to receive rave reviews. The common thread of its accolades from students is the privilege to study under Dr. Gant, who besides being a pioneer and global expert of Functional Medicine, is also deemed to be one of the best in the world when it comes to lab test interpretation.

The Academy is now enrolling for its fall semester’s Functional Medicine Certification Program, which will be held on Tuesday evenings on-line from 8:00 – 9:30 PM EST, beginning October 5th. The program is competitively priced and a ‘two-for-one’ tuition promotion, (two colleagues can attend the course for the price of one tuition), is presently being offered through October 1st.
