SurePayroll Main Street Insights: Small Businesses Want Fewer Stimulus Provisions, More Tax Cuts

SurePayroll Main Street Insights: Small Businesses Want Fewer Stimulus Provisions, More Tax Cuts

Survey results suggest the Obama administration is out of touch with the small business market. Majority of small business owners see a simple tax cut as the solution to economic problems, not the small business stimulus provisions.

Glenview, IL (PRWEB) March 25, 2009

A survey conducted this month by online payroll service SurePayroll found that three out of four small business owners say they would rather see the government enact simple tax cuts than the recent stimulus initiatives created to stimulate the small business economy.

The majority state that the stimulus initiatives are the wrong way to approach improving things, indicating that President Obama has not convinced small business owners that his administration understands the real triggers behind jump-starting the small business economy.

Most business owners don't believe the provisions apply to them, and even if they did, they don't know how they would take advantage of them. That explains why more than 60% rated Washington, D. C. as failing to help the small business economy with the recent stimulus provisions, giving the administration a four or below on a scale of one to 10 (one being not at all effective and 10 being most effective for helping spur small business growth).

"Small businesses employ an estimated 59 million members of the U. S. workforce, so the administration would be wise to listen to what they are saying," says SurePayroll President Michael Alter. "Right now they're saying that they need simple tax cuts, not more provisions that don't seem relevant. Not only does the administration seem to be out of touch with the small business market, but Obama's team needs to reconsider their communications strategy, as those who may be interested in taking advantage of the provisions don't know how to."

Small business owners voiced their concern over specific initiatives outlined in the stimulus package and say the government should do the following if they really want to help small businesses:

-Determine better ways to stimulate the small business economy. More than 64% of survey participants indicated that none of the recently enacted stimulus provisions for small business would apply to their small business.

-Communicate how SMBs can take advantage of obtaining loans/capital as a result of the stimulus plan. While some businesses could benefit from the stimulus plan, an overwhelming 72% majority said they would have no idea how to apply for or access loans/capital as a result of the recent small business stimulus initiatives.

-Implement small business tax cuts. Three out of four small business owners find the idea of a tax cut preferable to anything in the stimulus package for small business.

"The government is trying to help small business, but they're headed in the wrong direction," says Alter. "Now it will just depend on whether or not they choose to listen to this valuable feedback from small business owners."

Brain SPECT Scanning at Sierra Tucson Increases Diagnostic Capabilities and Motivates Patients

Brain SPECT Scanning at Sierra Tucson Increases Diagnostic Capabilities and Motivates Patients

Sierra Tucson demonstrates its leadership position in the recovery and neuropsychiatric fields by implementing brain SPECT scanning as part of its innovative treatment programs for addictions, mental/behavioral disorders, and chronic pain. This neuroimaging increases diagnostic capabilities, enables more targeted pharmacotherapy, and intensifies patients' motivation for recovery.

Tucson, AZ (Vocus) August 11, 2009

One of several initiatives to expand Sierra Tucson's neuroscience capabilities is the implementation of brain SPECT scanning for patients in treatment for addictions and mental/behavioral disorders. This functional brain imaging, which produces vivid, real-time pictures of brain physiology, is an innovative tool to enhance diagnostic capabilities, enable more targeted pharmacotherapy, and offer increased motivation to patients.

Brain SPECT scanning generates three-dimensional images of blood flow in the brain, which relates to actual brain physiology. Robert R. Johnson, D. O., Sierra Tucson's Medical Director, states, "In experienced hands, brain SPECT imaging provides clinically useful information on how an individual's brain functions, particularly in complex or treatment-resistant cases. This more complete diagnostic picture adds biological information to the presenting problem, often helping to inform treatment planning."

For patients, SPECT studies help them break through denial. When faced with abnormal brain SPECT scans, patients find it harder to minimize the impact of drug or alcohol use. A SPECT scan also helps patients see their problems from a medical point of view, thus reducing shame and guilt.

SPECT also helps evaluate the presence of other neuropsychiatric illnesses and understand different sub-types of disorders.

Fat Vegan Shows USA the Way with Innovative Vegan Cookbook

Fat Vegan Shows USA the Way with Innovative Vegan Cookbook

A new cookbook by a fat vegan cook from Great Britain and his nutritionist wife proves how healthy and delicious it can be to be kinder to the planet and your tastebuds.

(PRWEB) April 28, 2005

It's now 60 years since Donald Watson first urged people to think logically about human health, unnecessary cruelty to animals and the plight of the environment.

He set up The Vegan Society and invented the word 'Vegan' in November 1944 and is a fit 95 this year.

Killing Us Softly?

60 years later people are beginning to listen: an international conference in Sweden warned our hunger for meat will mean we'll run out of water. The world health organisation and the NHS warn if we don't start eating more fruit and vegetables people dying from preventable diseases will reach epidemic proportions.

Environmental protection agencies are distraught at the rate that the rain forest (the lungs of our planet) are being burnt and chopped down to grow soya - not to feed people but to feed to beef cattle.

People are starving because countries such as the USA feed 95% of their soya to animals instead of people.

Big, Fat, Love at First Bite

Whilst working at The Vegetarian Society award winning fat vegan cook Tony Weston met Yvonne Bishop, director of 'Cranks,' the 'Health and Vitality' vegetarian restaurant chain that started in London's trendy Carnaby Street in 1961 (frequented by the Beatles and other 60's celebrities)

They got married in The Vegan Society's Diamond Jubilee year and became Mr and Mrs Bishop-Weston in a garden in the New Forest, Hampshire complete with vegan caviar, vegan champagne, a vegan chocolate fountain and a dairy and wheat free wedding cake.

"We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate!" says Tony.

They also combined Tony's culinary skills and Yvonne's expertise as a certified Nutritionist (clinics in London and Surrey) to write a "delicious and nutritious" cookbook called simply 'Vegan.'

Perfect Timing

"Our timing couldn't have been better," says Yvonne.

There has been a huge backlash by the meat and dairy industries spending millions of pounds to encourage people to eat more meat and dairy, and then there was Dr Atkins, but it seems all this has only inspired people to examine the solutions that eating more fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, has to offer.

"What they are discovering is that veganism's far easier than they thought, it's delicious, it can be nutritious and it makes a huge difference to humans, animals and the environment."

Recipes from the innovative new cookbook have been highly acclaimed by the press and have even been used by the BBC on a new recipe section on vegan food at http://www. bbc. co. uk/food (http://www. bbc. co. uk/food)

Published by Hamlyn the book has even cracked the tough, competitive US market and is selling worldwide on Amazon and in Borders bookshops.

"You are streets ahead of us in the states," says Tony "Ford and Toyota even make vegan cars over there, so we are delighted that a humble but innovative UK vegan cook book is doing so well against all odds."

Pure Life Healthy Homes Announces New Drinking Water Filter for Arsenic!

Pure Life Healthy Homes Announces New Drinking Water Filter for Arsenic!

"End-User" Water Filtration is a necessity today! Many Americans realize ground water quality is uncertain - as it can vary from day to day, depending on "run-off and toxic spills." Therefore, many discriminating water consumers choose the portable, Code Blue Water System. It's patented filter produces "really clean, cost-saving, convenient water" that is certified and lab-tested - straight from your tap!

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 21, 2008

Arsenic in our drinking water? Too often, the answer is "yes". Most of us know that water pollution is a growing problem - but not many realize that arsenic - the poison we read about in old-time murder mysteries - is present in our tap water in many parts of the USA.

A study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that in 9,956 communities, in 38 states, tap water was contaminated at levels above health-based thresholds.

What can we do about it?
A solution is at hand in the form of a simple water pitcher. Pure Life Healthy Homes announced today that it is carrying the new water filter - the only pass-through water filter on the market today that filters arsenic.

The Code Blue filter, uses a patented ARTI-64 sponge technology and is manufactured by MARTI (Metals and Arsenic Removal Technology, Inc.). Independent lab tests show that the ARTI-64 filter reduced arsenic to undetectable levels.

Arsenic from Industry
Arsenic is a metal that can enter water by erosion - from mining or agricultural runoff, as well as from leaching out of pressure-treated lumber. It's highly toxic and is classified by the US EPA as a carcinogen.

In a health sheet on pressure treated lumber, the University of Minnesota says that arsenic causes cancer in humans and has other toxic effects on the skin and internal organs. The same publication states that arsenic health effects can take years to develop, after long-term (chronic) exposures to small amounts of arsenic.

How Much is Too Much?
The EPA has established a Maximum Contaminant Limit (or MCL) of 10 ppb (parts per billion). This amount was reduced from an earlier level of 50 ppb. However, EWG reports that California recently proposed an acceptable drinking water level (called a public health goal) for arsenic of 4 parts per trillion, 2500 times lower than the EPA's new MCL of 10 ppb.

"Even if your tap water falls within the EPA minimum, is that really good enough? I mean, how many people would say it's ok to drink a little bit of arsenic every day? Not me. I'd rather filter it down to undetectable levels!"
AP, MO

Audrey Franklin, President and Founder of Pure Life Healthy Homes in Atlanta says she likes carrying the water filtering pitcher because it's simple and inexpensive. The replaceable filter within the pitcher, which costs about $22.50, cleans 150 liters of water. That averages out to $.15 cents per liter.

An added bonus is that the Code Blue water pitcher filters most all other contaminants as well. Independent lab studies show that the filter also reduces other metals, plus the following microbial contaminants: coliform, E. coli, staphylococcus aureus, and general plate count.

"End-User" Water Filtration is a necessity today! Many Americans realize ground water quality is uncertain - as it can vary from day to day, depending on "run-off and toxic spills." Many health officials believe municipal water supplies that filter for sanitation purposes, i. e., toilets, bathing, car washing, etc…leaves toxins that are unsafe for human consumption - as they accumulate and contribute to tissue toxicities.

Comprehensive water testing is very expensive and requires frequent retesting to assure accuracy of water quality. Therefore, many discriminating water consumers choose the portable, Code Blue Water System. It's patented filter produces "really clean, cost-saving, convenient water" that is certified and lab-tested - straight from your tap!

Now... Code Blue™ can be your "insurance policy" of Certified Lab-Tested "water quality" against arsenic and other environmental contaminants.

Prescription Diet Pills Plus New YearÂ’s Resolutions Equal Weight Loss

Prescription Diet Pills Plus New YearÂ’s Resolutions Equal Weight Loss

New YearÂ’s resolutions include losing weight. Some Americans will choose to lose weight by using diet pills. Those who lose weight through diet plans and prescription diet pills should be safety conscious.

(PRWEB) January 7, 2005

Hey Americans! It is January 2005, have you made your New YearÂ’s resolutions like millions of others have? You or probably someone you know has already made one or more resolutions to lose weight, stop smoking, exercise, and/or do one of various other popular declarations. Many of those good intentioned Americans will fail to start or carryout their plans. However, others will indeed succeed including losing weight.

What is your resolution? For many Americans, losing weight remains highest on the list of the most popular resolutions. Spring will be coming through real soon... and oh... then summer. Will you look good in that swimsuit? Do you carry around extra pounds that are not needed or wanted? Others like you intend to lose this extra body weight to look and feel better for the future.

How will you lose weight? Many who have tried and failed with various diet programs move to using prescription pills. Still others will go directly to pills in order to lose weight. Various prescription diet pills are available online including Phentermine, Ionamin, Meridia, Adipex, and Xenical. (These diet pills can be found at many online pharmaceutical sites including http://www. alanorxmeds. com (http://www. alanorxmeds. com)). Many work as appetite suppressants while some like Xenical work in the gastrointestinal tract to block fat digestion.

With all diet programs and prescription diet pills, your efforts at losing weight will likely succeed when combined with a healthy diet program and exercise. Keeping the weight off will happen with a lifestyle modification of increased exercise and continued healthy eating.

If you decide to use prescription diet drugs, it is important to know that health risks do exist with pills as they do with other diet plans. Risks can be minimized by adhering to these precautions.

1. Consult your doctor before taking diet pills. Know your risks.

2. Read and follow the instructions. Do not overdose since the health risks will increase when exceeding the prescribed dosage.

3. Check with the pharmacist about possible clashing interactions that your current medication may have with your prescribed weight loss pills.

4. During the period of using the pills, maintain contact with a doctor. Watch for side effects.

5. Do not take weight loss pills longer than prescribed. Risks increase with lengthened usage.

Losing weight helps you look good and feel better, but safety is the key when attempting to alter your body. You should maintain contact with a doctor when attempting to lose weight through all diet plans and/or prescribed solutions.

Prescription diet drugs such as Phentermine, Ionamin, Meridia, Adipex, and Xenical may be purchased very inexpensively at http://www. alanorxmeds. com (http://www. alanorxmeds. com). Alano RX Meds offers very cheap Phentermine. This online site and many others on the web have physicians, licensed by the American Medical Association, ready to prescribe the prescription pills when you qualify.

Non-Profit Coalition Aims to Improve Financial Dignity for Boomers : Retirement Planning Helps Protect Against Market Shocks

Non-Profit Coalition Aims to Improve Financial Dignity for Boomers : Retirement Planning Helps Protect Against Market Shocks

As both the housing market and stock market have declined this year, they’ve taken a big chunk of retirement assets for the Baby Boomer generation with them. That only adds to the woes of a generation that many experts say has done a poor job planning for their future. To help Boomers better understand and address the unique financial challenges they’ll face in retirement, 11 non-profit financial associations, representing more than 200,000 financial services professionals around the world, have formed an unprecedented collaboration called The Partnership for Retirement Education and Planning (PREP).

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (PRWEB) September 23, 2008

"Unfortunately, the Boomer generation as a whole has not planned well for what is likely to be a lengthy retirement for most of them," says Philip E. Harriman, CLU, ChFC, past president of the Million Dollar Round Table and spokesperson for the PREP coalition. "Recent research shows only one-third of retirees are very confident they will have enough money to take care of basic expenses. Current market dynamics increase their anxiety."

Harriman says the non-profit PREP associations are working to better educate their members on the unique challenges facing the Baby Boomer generation; providing members with communication tools and resources to help them communicate with Boomers; and encouraging them to conduct community service education targeted at local Boomers, regardless of their financial status. He says, in addition to the sheer size of the Boomer generation, this group faces financial challenges no previous generation has encountered, including pension terminations, skyrocketing healthcare costs, uncertainty about government programs such as Social Security, decreased personal savings rates and significantly increased life expectancy.

Dedicated to improving financial literacy for Boomers, members of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) have founded PREP and are working in a concerted effort to provide awareness and education that will help Boomers take action in preparing for retirement. Other organizations, including the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), Association of Health Insurance Advisors (AHIA), GAMA International, Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA), Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE), National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA), and Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS), also have joined in support of PREP.

According to PREP members, Boomers should make retirement planning a priority by considering the Lifestyle they wish to lead during retirement, determining the Life Income they will need to sustain their lifestyle for 20 to 30 years after retirement, and creating Lifeboats, such as disability insurance or life insurance, to protect them and their families from the unexpected. Since it is never too early to begin preparing for retirement, younger generations also should learn from the challenges Boomers face.

Finally, all PREP members have endorsed a Financial Dignity Bill of Rights, which dedicates them to helping provide financial education to the Boomer community.

The Financial Dignity Bill of Rights holds that individuals must create and protect their own financial well-being, supported by the right to:

Participate in employer sponsored plans, if offered. Receive government benefits, if eligible. Receive ethical and honest counsel from trained and capable financial professionals. Financial solutions involving appropriate plans, products and fair, ethical practices from providers of financial services. Please visit www. PREPpartnership. com for additional information.

New Medical Study Establishes First-Ever Long-Term Benefits for Macular Degeneration Sufferers Using Macular Health Vitamin Supplement

New Medical Study Establishes First-Ever Long-Term Benefits for Macular Degeneration Sufferers Using Macular Health Vitamin Supplement

A group of retina specialists at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) recently released the second phase of the Multifocal Electroretinogram (MERG) study of patients placed on supplemental vitamins, minerals and carotenoids - a combination also known as Macular Health. The results of Phase II of the study represents the first-ever documentation of long-term improvement in eye health in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) patients, individuals at-risk for total blindness due to deterioration of the macula. According to Dr. John O. Mason, "This study confirms that Macular Health has the potential to preserve vision for millions of AMD sufferers.

Birmingham, Ala. (PRWEB) April 20, 2009

Phase II of the study represents the first-ever documentation of long-term improvement in eye health in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) patients, individuals at-risk for total blindness due to deterioration of the macula.

"The conclusions of the new MERG study offer good news to sufferers of age-related macular degeneration," says John O. Mason, III, MD, researcher and retina specialist at the Callahan Eye Foundation. "This study is proof that the Macular Health vitamin is an incredible product for sufferers of this life-altering disease."

The study, which was accepted by the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO) for poster presentation, found that patients taking the Macular Health capsule once daily over a two-year period had an increase in the health of the macula and better vision compared to a control group that did not take the Macular Health capsule.

Jeffery McAnnally, President of Macular Health, LLC, says, "On behalf of the Macular Health Company, I am pleased to announce this additional proof of the effectiveness of Macular Health. Macular Health is a product that will help millions of aging adults avoid vision loss due to age-related macular degeneration. Not only is Macular Health the most affordable product of its kind on the market today, it is the easiest to take."

The first phase of the MERG study was released in December 2005 and found a 16 percent increase in retinal improvement in patients taking Macular Health for just 12 weeks. The second phase found a 17 percent increase in retinal improvement in the same patients after two years of taking Macular Health. Dr. Mason and a team of retina specialists from UAB will continue to monitor participants in the study to evaluate long-term improvement in eye health and vision due to Macular Health.

Macular Health offers consumers a free information booklet about AMD which can be ordered online at www. macularhealth. com or by telephone at 1-800-980-6551.

About Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in American adults. The condition, which is a breakdown of the macula of the eye, typically occurs during the aging process. Damage of the macula, caused by AMD, increases the difficulty of seeing fine details clearly.

AMD can make activities such as reading and threading a needle impossible. The ability to see both near and far is hindered by AMD because damage to the macula causes blurriness and distortion of vision. There is no cure for AMD, but there is hope of slowing vision loss with Macular Health.

AMD is most common in adults 55 years and older, individuals with a family history of the disease, people suffering from obesity, women, smokers and people with excessive exposure to the sun. To prevent AMD, it is important to wear UV protective sunglasses, eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight and monitor blood pressure. At-risk individuals should also take a multivitamin and supplement such as Macular Health.

About John O. Mason, III, MD
John O. Mason III, MD, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., received his undergraduate degree in microbiology, magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama and his medical degree, cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama Birmingham/Eye Foundation Hospital and completed a two-year vitreoretinal disease and surgery fellowship at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, Penn.

Mason specializes in vitreous, macular and retinal diseases and surgery at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital on the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) campus. He is also an assistant professor for UAB with special interests in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery.

Mason is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Retina Specialists, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Ocular Oncologists. His major research areas are diabetic eye disease and macular surgery. He currently serves as Director of the Retina Service.

About Macular Health
Macular Health is a unique vitamin supplement that slows vision loss due to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and reduces the risk of total blindness. The supplement was developed in 2003 by a retina surgeon at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB).

New Course Shows Investors How to Cash in on the Green Real Estate Investing Boom

New Course Shows Investors How to Cash in on the Green Real Estate Investing Boom

In an uncertain economy, many big name investors are taking advantage of the upcoming green real estate boom and reaping enormous profits. But why should only the big players enjoy all the perks of the lucrative green real estate niche? The Sepia System, the only green real estate investing course on the market, shares special insider tips that enable would-be green investors worldwide to cash in as well.

Kauai, HI (PRWEB) November 19, 2010

Goldman Sachs. IBM. Hearst. Some of the biggest names in business are beginning to tap into the up-and-coming green real estate investing market. Thanks to the just-released Sepia System, smaller players can get in on the action too.

Sepia Kirkbride, the Founder and CEO of Green Real Estate Investing News and Ribbon & Gourd, Inc., has created an invaluable green real estate investing education resource that enables experienced and less-experienced investors to take advantage of the lucrative green real estate niche.

“We are moving toward a rapidly increasing demand for healthier, more economical and smaller spaces,” remarked Kirkbride from the company’s headquarters in Kauai. “What is especially great for new investors learning this early on is how relatively small the supply still is in relationship to this huge demand.”

The only green real estate investing course on the market, the 5-DVD program offers essential, insider knowledge that gives would-be green investors tips on everything from how to take advantage of government rebates to offset set-up costs, to how to increase a property’s value by 10% or more.

“The results of “greenhabbing” (green rehabbing, ranging from the very small to larger adjustments) are directly correlated to higher sales price, higher appraisal value, higher rents, and basically eliminating competition, even in a down market,” added Kirkbride.

“Green is equally smart financially as it is ethically.”

The company reports that there is a lack of comprehensive information on the “how to” of green real estate investing, and that the process can seem overwhelming and intimidating even for seasoned real estate investors.

Applying the expertise of Jim Simcoe, one of the nation’s leading green experts, the Sepia System teaches investors both how to go green, and how maximize profits. By applying simple green remodeling techniques, investors can enjoy up to 20% ROI.

According to the company, those investors who enter the green market during its infancy will enjoy the highest returns. Once the market becomes saturated, it will be less easy to do so.

“I designed this course to help investors stay ahead of the curve,” said Kirkbride. If you’re in the market right now, you know that it’s a new economy and an increasingly green one.”

To learn more about the Green Real Estate Investing Course, click to also receive a Free 62 Page Report from Personal Real Estate Investor Magazine.

For interview requests, sample questions and story ideas about this green real estate investing education, please visit our Media Page on http://www. greenrealestateinvestingnews. com for more information and feel free to contact Sepia Kirkbride.

GRANDMOTHER FINDS NEW LEASE ON LIFE

GRANDMOTHER FINDS NEW LEASE ON LIFE

Chemical toxins caused serious health issues--now she is young at heart once more and at 65 is pursuing a career as an artist

(PRWEB) September 17, 2003

-An active mother, grandmother and award-winning and honored educator, Rose Marie Raccioppi knew she had to find a solution to her health problems.

Like millions of women in America she had cleaned her home and worked in her garden, using toxic cleaners and sprays. “Little did I know what ills the future would bring,” says Rose Marie.

A growing number of communities, physicians and medical researchers are concerned that the liberal use of insecticides, herbicides and other chemicals on home lawns and gardens may be hazardous to human health.

 U. S. lawns and gardens use 70 million to 75 million pounds of pest-killing ingredients annually. These substances, some of which include potential carcinogens and hormone disrupters, may present hazards to people who apply them and may leach into groundwater, says an article published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

“Innocently I placed weed killer on the flower and shrub beds and paid little attention to the light headed feeling and annoying rash. I thought it would pass,” said Rose Marie.

“Spraying, cleaning, polishing--all seemingly noble deeds of a dutiful housewife resulted in headaches, skin rashes and a sinus infection that led to the use of antibiotics,” she says. “I had an allergic reaction to the pills, which resulted in the prescription of additional medication that brought about a pancreatic reaction and required hospitalization,” she explained.

Rose Marie developed food allergies and became hypersensitive to the smell of perfumes, tobacco, cosmetics, hair preparations, fabric finishes, carpets and household cleaning products. She was getting headaches, nausea and fatigue.

Then the final phase of her illness began--her symptoms became unbearable: utter fatigue, weakness, leg and knee swellings, headaches and body sores. She also got Lichen Planus, a disease that affects the skin, the mouth, or both with painful lesions. Rose Marie got it on her tongue and upper lip.

Rose Marie was at the end of her tether. “I could not live such a compromised existence--I had a successful private practice serving children and families with special education needs. I was the recipient of honors and awards, I had three devoted sons and two beautiful grandchildren, all reasons to celebrate this gift of life; not to be a victim of what ever was oppressing my health.”

She began to search for a solution to her health problems. At a meeting with a like-minded group of advocates for learning disabled children, Rose Marie heard about the New York Times best-selling book Clear Body Clear Mind by L. Ron Hubbard.

The book covers Mr. Hubbard's breakthrough research about how toxic residues get trapped in the fatty tissue of the body and affect our health--both physical and mental.

“Each chapter brought me closer and closer to the conviction that this was what I needed to consider,” she says. Rose Marie investigated the places that delivered the detoxification program outlined in the book, which is a carefully monitored program of nutrition, vitamins, exercise and sauna to release and sweat out the toxins trapped in the fatty tissue of the body.

Rose Marie was referred to a clinic in Sacramento that delivers this program. Although the program was vigorous and very demanding, as the program progressed, symptoms elevated and then subsided. The body seemed to re-experience the memory of each toxic experience.

ItÂ’s Not All in Your Head: Researchers Conduct First Large Study Defining Premature Ejaculation by Stopwatch & Patient Reported Outcomes

ItÂ’s Not All in Your Head: Researchers Conduct First Large Study Defining Premature Ejaculation by Stopwatch & Patient Reported Outcomes

In a four-week study of 1,587 men, researchers report that men who suffer from premature ejaculation (PE) had an average intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) of 1.8 minutes, compared to 7.3 minutes in men who did not. Men with PE and their female partners also had higher ratings for personal distress, interpersonal difficulty with their partner, lack of ejaculation control, and dissatisfaction with sexual intercourse.

(PRWEB) April 16, 2005

In a four-week study of 1,587 men, researchers report that men who suffer from premature ejaculation (PE) had an average intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) of 1.8 minutes, compared to 7.3 minutes in men who did not. Men with PE and their female partners also had higher ratings for personal distress, interpersonal difficulty with their partner, lack of ejaculation control, and dissatisfaction with sexual intercourse.

This scientific study, appearing in the May issue of The Journal of Sexual Medicine, is the first large epidemiologic study to define patient populations of those with (207) and without (1380) premature ejaculation by measuring average times to ejaculation with stopwatches. This average, or IELT, is defined as the time between the start of vaginal intromission and the start of intravaginal ejaculation.

This study is also one of the first data sets to address the concerns of female partners. Both members of the couples studied were asked to report on a variety of subjective factors. Significant overlap in IELT was observed between the groups who suffered from PE and those without. Thus, the study data suggest IELT may not be sufficient to diagnose PE, and that subjective factors, like lack of control, may also be valid indicators.

“Most people think uni-dimensionally about PE in terms of considering it a disorder of time,” statesStanley E. Althof, Ph. D., corresponding author of the study. “This article demonstrates that subjective factors like sense of control, distress, and sexual satisfaction need to be considered when treating this highly prevalent disorder.”

PE is the most common male sexual dysfunction affecting men and their partners. However, available data suggest that only 1-12% of males self-reporting receive treatment for their dysfunction. According to The Journal of Sexual Medicine editor Irwin Goldstein, most physicians do not inquire about the existence of premature ejaculation when the patient has other sexual complaints or when the partner has orgasmic dysfunction. As seen in this study, premature ejaculation adversely affects sexual satisfaction, and partner distress is a common motivation for afflicted men to seek treatment.

This study is published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine. Media wishing to receive a PDF of the article please contact medicalnews@bos. blackwellpublishing. net.

Stanley E. Althof, Ph. D. is Professor of Psychology in the Department of Urology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine inCleveland, Ohio and President of the International Society for the Study of WomenÂ’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). Dr. Althof is available for questions and interviews and can be reached at sxa6@ po. cwru. edu or (561) 822-5458.

Bye, Bye Bextra - Natural Enzyme Supplement Helps Fill Void of Cox-2 NSAIDs

Bye, Bye Bextra - Natural Enzyme Supplement Helps Fill Void of Cox-2 NSAIDs

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center study finds promising results from anti-inflammatory enzyme supplement InflammEnz TM

Parkville, MO (PRWEB) April 20, 2005

With the current environment surrounding anti-inflammatory medication, healthcare practitioners and their patients need to be aware of advancements in enzyme therapy - potentially relating to relief from inflammation without the life-threatening side effects of Cox-2 Inhibitors and other NSAIDs.

A recent study published in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery found InflammEnz (Enzymes, Inc., Parkville, Mo.) effective in reducing inflammation, in addition to accelerating soft-tissue healing. While results from a plastic surgery study may not appear to directly relate to complaints associated with trauma or chronic conditions, the results of the study do directly relate to inflammation. If health complaints involve inflammation, InflammEnz may prove to be an effective solution.

“If you can translate this kind of faster healing… you are talking about a cost savings in the recovery process and getting back to work sooner that could amount to billions of dollars,” said Rod J. Rohrich, MD, immediate past-president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

InflammEnz has been successfully used since 1998 for many different post surgical procedures. Patients recovering from soft-tissue trauma benefit greatly from the effects of pHysioProtease – a proprietary enzyme blend found exclusively in products distributed by Enzymes, Inc.

“InflammEnz has been shown to be clinically effective for several years,” said Lynn Greaves, VP of Enzymes, Inc. “The study confirms what we’ve known all along.”

InflammEnz is 100% natural and available exclusively from Enzymes, Inc. upon the recommendation of a healthcare practitioner. For more information visit www. inflammenz. com or call 1.800.637.7893.

West Texan Writes over Two Thousand Letters to White House

West Texan Writes over Two Thousand Letters to White House

Alan Prest wrote over 2100 letters to the White House between June 2005 and March 2007, an average of 100 per month. The author with over 20 years experience in health care leadership tackled political, religious, leadership, and international topics. His blog posts are a mix of creative humor and straight up political commentary with some 200 published in his book, "New Suits for World Leaders: Emperors, Presidents, and Popes."

San Angelo, TX (PRWEB) March 15, 2007

One West Texan wanted his voice heard by America's elected leaders. Alan Prest wrote over 2,000 letters to the White House, averaging 100 letters a month to President Bush on a wide variety of topics.

"I'd written letters before, but summer of 2005 I decided to be more intentional about sharing my thoughts and posting them on my blog. Some are serious while others humorous. Before I knew it I hit 1,000 and then 2,000." His first blog was named "Letters to Nowhere" and his current one is "State of the Division".

Alan noted the summer of 2005 was an incredible time to begin blogging. Hurricane Katrina struck him deeply. During the 1980's Prest evacuated a Texas Gulf Coast Hospital before Hurricane Gilbert. This happened after he endured in a dead 700 bed river flooded hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

Fox News linked to one of his Katrina posts "Nero fiddled, Bush strummed". CNN-Netscape picked up another one of Prest's humorous pieces on a missing Russian satellite.

Friends encouraged Alan to put his commentary into book form. "New Suits for World Leaders: Emperors, Presidents, and Popes" covers Prest's musings from religiosity to international affairs to health care. As Lantern Sodden he weighs in on Hurricane Katrina, America's political parties, and the state of leadership in our world.

Why the pen name Lantern Sodden? Prest responded "I tried to shine some light but was clueless as to how deep in the political muck I'd end up." He's currently compiling another edition titled "One Fist, Two Fist, Red Fist, Blue Fist" on the state of American politics. In it Lantern mixes Seuss like poems with his creative and thought provoking blog postings.

Global 3D Medical Imaging Market to Reach US$3.5 Billion by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc

Global 3D Medical Imaging Market to Reach US$3.5 Billion by 2015, According to a New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

GIA announces the release of a comprehensive global report on 3D Medical Imaging market. The global market for 3D medical imaging is forecast to reach US$3.5 billion by the year 2015. Key factors driving market growth include aging population and steady rise in incidence of critical diseases; increasing application in new areas such as obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology and dentistry; technological advancements associated with 3D medical imaging systems, and rising adoption of 3D imaging in developing markets such as Asia.

San Jose, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 11, 2011

For several years in a row, the global medical imaging market posted robust growth in the light of rising healthcare demand and technological advancements. However, the global economic downturn that started in late 2008 brought this growth to an abrupt halt. Sales of medical imaging equipment, including MRI, CT and Ultrasound, faced significant declines in 2009, as end-users cancelled or delayed their purchases in the wake of tough economic conditions. Hospitals began to see their margins dwindle during the downturn, which has compelled them to procrastinate their spending on capital equipment. The market was also affected by a decline in healthcare spending in major markets. The US and Europe are the most affected markets due to economic downturn. Meanwhile, developing countries, specifically China, withstood the adverse impacts of the global downturn partially offsetting declines seen in developed markets.

Of all medical imaging technologies, CT and MRI technologies were the worst hit during the global recession. Despite the fact that ultrasound segment witnessed decline in revenues, the plunge was relatively lesser than declines witnessed in Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging segments.

Although currently pestered by the weaker economic climate, the future for 3D medical imaging market in the area of medicine appears optimistic. Aging population and continuing rise in incidence of critical diseases are expected to fuel growth for 3D imaging once global economies recovers from the impact of recession. Besides, 3D imaging is finding application in increasingly new areas such as obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology and dentistry, owing to significant advantages offered by the technology, providing ample market opportunities for producers of 3D equipment. Additionally, the market is also witnessing significant advances in terms of technological advancements that are expected to fuel future growth. Growth is also expected to emerge from rising adoption of 3D imaging in developing markets.

Europe represents the largest regional market for 3D medical imaging worldwide, as stated by the new market research report on 3D Medical Imaging. The US trails behind Europe. However, growth is primarily expected to emanate from developing markets, such as Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Major players of 3D software and workstations used in MRI, CT and Ultrasound machines profiled in the report include Barco NV, GE Healthcare, Medison America Inc., Philips Medical Systems, Siemens Healthcare, The Esaote Group, TomTec Imaging Systems GmbH, Toshiba America Medical Systems, among others.

The research report titled “3D Medical Imaging: A Global Strategic Business Report” announced by Global Industry Analysts Inc., provides a comprehensive review of the 3D medical imaging markets, impact of the recession on the market, current market trends, key growth drivers, recent product introductions, recent industry activity, and profiles of major/niche global as well as regional market participants. The report provides annual sales estimates and projections for 3D medical imaging software and workstations used in MRI, CT, and Ultrasound machines for the years 2007 through 2015 for the following geographic markets – United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest of World. Key product segments analyzed include 3D software and workstations used in MRI and CT machines, and 3D software and workstations used in MRI and CT machines used in Ultrasound machines. Also, a seven-year (2000-2006) historic analysis is provided for additional perspective.

Transnational Financial Network Reports Fiscal 2004 Results

Transnational Financial Network Reports Fiscal 2004 Results

Transnational Financial Network, Inc. (AMEX: TFN), in its latest 10-KSB filing of July 29th for the year ended April 30, 2004, announced mixed financial results with declines in overall volume and two major non-cash write-downs, while still managing to post earnings per diluted share of $0.03 and a significantly higher available working capital balance.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) August 5, 2004

Transnational Financial Network, Inc. (AMEX: TFN), in its latest 10-KSB filing of July 29th for the year ended April 30, 2004, announced mixed financial results with declines in overall volume and two major non-cash write-downs, while still managing to post earnings per diluted share of $0.03 and a significantly higher available working capital balance. Highlights of the fiscal year include the following:

-- Operating activities provided cash flows of $2,587,875 for the year ended April 30, 2004.

-- Total loan production volume was $1,239,639,734, down 28% from the prior year as a result of the decline in refinance volume.

-- Net earnings were $191,308, down 87% from the prior year results, primarily due to a reduction in retail production revenue, a non-cash goodwill impairment charge of $1,049,760 and a non-cash derivative valuation charge of $384,300.

-- Earnings per diluted share were $0.03, down 88% compared to $0.25 earnings per diluted share in the prior year.

-- Working capital as of April 30, 2004 was $2,095,894, higher by 165% due to the reduction in the restricted cash balance in the amount of $650,000 and the decrease of $987,450 in the settlement payable.

Joseph Kristul, Chairman and CEO, commented:

"Fiscal 2004 was a volatile time for us, and yet we still managed to improve our financial position and maintain profitability. I attribute our success to the changes that we made in our wholesale product offerings that resulted in a 2% increase in our gain on sale revenues despite an 8% decrease in wholesale production volume.

We will continue to emphasize higher yielding loan products in order to maintain or increase our current gain on sale levels in the face of predicted declines in demand for real estate loans. I also attribute our success to the intense focus on reducing costs over the last 2 years. We have reduced the costs associated with our warehouse facilities and have managed to reduce other variable costs as production decreased.

During the year, we determined that the goodwill related to the acquisition of LRS, Inc had experienced impairment in the amount of $1,049,760, and so we took a charge to current year's earnings in that amount. Also, we recorded a reduction in the fair value of financial derivatives in the amount of $384,300 as a result of a new SEC accounting rule. Since these were non-cash charges, overall our tangible net worth improved by over $1.5 million and our balance sheet is healthier for it.

Operating income improved as well if you exclude the non-cash goodwill impairment charge. Excluding such charge, our operating income increased by 12% to $1,861,515. Without the effects of the non-cash goodwill and derivatives charges, our diluted earnings per share would have been $0.23.

We remain optimistic about the outlook for Transnational and the changes that we are making to our business strategy. Since the end of our fiscal year, we managed to obtain a lower cost warehouse line and to reduce other costs. Also, as indicated in our 10-KSB, we have engaged an investment banking firm to assist us with our objective to raise additional capital to immediately reduce our warehouse costs, to increase the gain on sale revenues, and to possibly grow through external means when we find opportunities to acquire other firms at reasonable prices."

Transnational Financial Network, Inc. is a wholesale and retail mortgage banker that originates, funds and sells mortgage loans secured by one to four family residential properties. Through its strong sales and broker service programs, the Company has built a foundation for growth and expansion, principally in the markets of Northern California, Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona.

Holding Digestive Disorder Treatments Accountable for Results

Holding Digestive Disorder Treatments Accountable for Results

Health-Kit. com launches a new tool in the fight against digestive ailments that helps patients manage their symptoms and monitor the effectiveness of their treatments more easily.

Burnaby, BC, Canada (PRWEB) January 15, 2008

Health-Kit. com launches a new tool in the fight against digestive ailments that helps patients manage their symptoms and monitor the effectiveness of their treatments more easily.

"Digestive ailments like IBS, crohn's and colitis have become so widespread in North America that they're almost epidemic," says Timothy Anderson of Health-Kit. com. "Conventional medicine seems to offer few treatment choices for people suffering from these diseases. The problem cannot be solved with an anti-biotic, and most of the time a surgical solution is massive overkill. What remains falls into the category of 'alternative treatments.' Unfortunately, this opens the door to unproven over-the-counter health-store products which may or may not be useful in treating the ailment."

So what can a patient do to determine how effective their treatment is? According to Anderson, the key is to record the effect of every treatment on the digestive symptoms you have and communicate this information to your doctor.

"Doctors rarely get an accurate picture of how your situation has progressed from day to day during the treatment period because they only see you infrequently. Being able to show them a record of how the treatment has affected your symptoms over time can be incredibly useful in evaluating the effectiveness of your treatment.

Step one is to keep a journal of the digestive symptoms you are suffering. Include dates and times, what symptom occurred, and how severe it was. Bring this journal when you visit your doctor. Over time, your memory will fade however your journal will provide a chronological, objective history of what happened and when."

But simply tracking the symptoms is only one piece of the puzzle. The next piece is to track the treatment results. After your doctor recommends a course of treatment, how do you know how well it is working? Anderson explains that a journal is crucial in this area as well.

"Keep a regular log of what treatments, procedures and medication you take, when you take it, whether with meals or not, and what the results are. Do you feel better? Worse? Are there any side effects of the medication? When do they occur?

Maintaining this journal over time helps you be aware of how much of a positive or negative effect a treatment is having on your overall health. With digestive disorders, there are many different treatment options available, and keeping a detailed treatment journal is a great way to make sure you get the most effective one for your situation."

According to Anderson, it is vital that everyone take an active role in managing their own health. Using a simple journal approach is the fastest and easiest way to help your doctor help you.

Anderson's web site offers free downloadable Digestive Health Kits containing spreadsheets and outlines for you to use to create your own health management journal. You can download the Health Kit for free from http://www. health-kit. com/digestive/ (http://www. health-kit. com/digestive/)

UN Chronicle E-Alert: THE AIDS CRISIS

UN Chronicle E-Alert: THE AIDS CRISIS

(PRWEB) November 28, 2002

Every year, World AIDS Day is commemorated around the globe on the first day of December, bringing messages of compassion, solidarity, and understanding about HIV/AIDS, and the 40 million people living with the disease. On 26 November, in connection with the observance of World AIDS Day, the United Nations will host a town hall meeting, co-sponsored by UNAIDS and the Department of Public Information. The meeting, under the theme “Live and let live”, will focus on overcoming HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination, and encourage people to break the silence and barriers to effective prevention and care.

“Stigma and Discrimination” is also the theme for the World AIDS Campaign 2003-2004. Discrimination against those living with HIV/AIDS has spread rapidly over the last two decades, intensifying the anxiety and prejudice against individuals and groups most affected by the disease. The fear of discrimination often discourages people from seeking treatment for AIDS or from acknowledging their HIV status publicly. Furthermore, by stigmatizing individuals or groups, society tends to excuse itself from the responsibility of caring for and looking after such vulnerable populations. This problem is particularly acute in Africa, where over the next ten years AIDS is expected to kill more people and orphan more children than all the wars of the twentieth century combined.

The UN Chronicle has for years detailed the societal effects of the global AIDS epidemic and highlighted the problem of HIV stigma. Here are some recent articles published in the Chronicle on HIV/AIDS:

(PRWEB) April 1, 2004

Fringe Facts Online enables Cottage employees to view and make changes to their benefits plans via the Internet. Since 2001 Cottage employees have accessed information from home, office, or any Internet connected location via a secure Fringe Facts Online benefits website. The reduced administrative overhead has resulted in consistent cost savings over the last three years.

Ron Lafrican, Benefits Manager at Cottage said, “Our eEnroll Online™ website produces custom carrier reports for our claims administrator and pharmacy benefit manager. This saved us a huge amount of time and it reduces the chances of human error. The value of this system is easily proved by reduced paperwork, less man hours, reduced error factor and our satisfied employees.”

Mr. Lafrican also stated, “This system has allowed us to add employees without having to add more staff in the benefit department. The best part of the system is that I don’t have to worry about it and I don’t have to maintain it. It just works. The service from Benefit Software has been great. They are very responsive, creative, and they listen to what we want and then go about meeting our needs.”
