Rebound In Executive Job Creation Reveals Corporate Growth Plans

Rebound In Executive Job Creation Reveals Corporate Growth Plans

Recruiter Confidence Gains Mirror Improved Consumer, Economic Outlook

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) December 3, 2010

ExecuNet. com - ExecuNet’s benchmark Executive Job Creation Index (EJCI) held positive for an eleventh consecutive month in November as executive recruiters reported employers are encouraged by improving economic indicators and plan to create more management jobs over the next six months.

The number of employers expected to add executive jobs during that time topped those planning to eliminate or postpone filling top roles by 21 points, a 12-point gain from October and a signal that more companies will recruit executive talent to rebuild their management teams and realize their 2011 strategic growth objectives.

ExecuNet’s Recruiter Confidence and Job Creation Indices are recognized leading indicators of economic growth, and combined with positive GDP trend lines, increased consumer confidence and other favorable economic reports. "It seems the tide is finally turning in favor of more significant executive hiring activity as companies prepare to tackle 2011 business priorities,” says Mark Anderson, President and Chief Economist of ExecuNet, the leading private executive membership organization founded in 1988.

“ExecuNet has seen a 30 percent gain in private executive job postings for the exclusive consideration of our members in the past month over November 2009. We continue to see high-tech and healthcare companies doing some of the most aggressive executive hiring,” he added. “Searches by recruiters networking with our executive members have increased 55% over the same period last year.”

For example, one executive member just reported his relocation to Alaska where he accepted a new management role after two years of unemployment in Michigan, and another who made a fast transition to a new executive role after only seven weeks of membership. Executive recruiters who leverage ExecuNet’s membership to develop candidates for executive search assignments have increased their outreach to members by 55 percent over the past year.

In November, executive recruiters were confident that the prospects for new management hiring activity will be positive, as 61 percent were confident or very confidence the executive employment market would improve over the next six months.

(ExecuNet’s EJCI is derived from data collected as part of the firm’s widely recognized Recruiter Confidence monthly survey of executive search firms and reflects responding executive recruiters’ expectations of how companies are managing their executive talent needs. The Job Creation Index compares the number of companies expected to add executive positions over the next six months versus those planning to downsize their management teams or delay filling vacant management roles. The November data is based on responses from a total of 155 firms.)

ZyDoc Optimizes Olympus DS 4000 Professional Digital Recorder for e-Transcription Service

ZyDoc now features the Olympus DS 4000 Professional Digital Recorder for its award-winning e-Transcription service. Doctors improve productivity using the Olympus handheld recorder with intuitive slide controls and automatically upload dictations in seconds. ZyDoc software ensures HIPAA compliance and facilitates faster document turnaround with e-signature, browser-accessible secure Internet based records and automated download and printing of transcribed documents.

Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) June 16, 2005

ZyDoc, an award-winning technology leader in transcription and automated medical documentation solutions, announced that it has upgraded and optimized its e-Transcription service to work with the Olympus DS4000 Professional Digital Handheld Recorder.

James M. Maisel, M. D., Chairman of ZyDoc says, “ZyDoc is delighted to expand our handheld digital recording options to the professional level with the release of the Olympus DS4000 unit. We have been working with Olympus since 1998 and have found their recorders to consistently offer excellent quality and value. The DS4000 unit allows doctors who prefer a classic slideswitch to benefit from the digital technology without change in habits. The ZyDoc software that extends the functionality of the digital handhelds and is licensed to a public transcription company has also been upgraded. The software had won a LISA business productivity award allowing the physician to easily and rapidly download dictations and resume work within seconds. No special computer skills are required since one mouse click handles all functions including downloading and archiving of the dictations from the unit before erasing them, packaging them, and securely transmitting them to ZyDoc where they are immediately available and tracked like a UPS package. The ZyDoc software also automatically connects to our secure servers, downloads all completed jobs and has them waiting in the printer in the morning for the doctor."

The company has over ten years of experience in working with physicians who want to document their medical encounters quickly and efficiently while getting high quality, fast turnaround, and specialized documentation. ZyDoc offers low risk, high productivity solutions featuring dictation for data capture involving no change in work habits, infrastructure costs or training. The web-based TrackDoc™ system offers substantial advantages to physicians over EMR alternatives and can be implemented in one day. These solutions are applicable for 100% of physicians and require no IT experience or internal support. ZyDoc solutions seem like a transcription service on the front end and have many of the advantages of an EMR. ZyDoc is suitable for a single practitioner, multi-site offices, ASU’s and hospitals and scales to a Community Health Information Network. The company exhibited at the first AMA Technology Summit on Selecting and Implementing the Right EMR technology in Philadelphia on November 12, 2004. Document access improves efficiency of coding and billing. Detailed medical records are easily shared and result in improved healthcare outcomes, especially in ambulatory environments involving multiple providers for complicated cases. The design eliminates the need for any capital investment and replaces legacy infrastructure.

Steve Koski, CEO and President of ZyDoc adds, "The ZyDoc technology platform offers a number of advantages to healthcare providers over traditional documentation solutions and EMR in terms of ease of implementation, operations, total costs, quality, speed of care, and disaster recovery. The solutions require no software or IT personnel, and are compatible with all PCs and operating systems with Internet browser capability. There is no training involved or complicated software to customize or learn. Doctors can start dictating immediately after enrollment using 800 toll free dialup or digital handheld recorders. Documents are always available on the Internet with HIPAA secure connections, and can be reviewed and signed remotely. The documents can also be automatically downloaded and printed to a PC, faxed or made available to share with authorized caregivers over the Internet. The ZyDoc carrier class data center has proven reliable without failure over the past year and was operational even during the Northeast blackout of 2003.”

Availability

The Olympus DS4000 unit is immediately available from the ZyDoc Website Store http://www. zydoc. com/Merchant2/merchant. mv? Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=ZOS. Physicians can enroll for a free trial of the ZyDoc e-Transcription and TrackDoc™ EMR system directly on the secure http://www. zydoc. com/freetrial website or contact ZyDoc support at 631-273-6125. CLIMsystems Works With SPC/GTZ and Ministries in Tonga to Provide Training on Adaptation to Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region

CLIMsystems Works With SPC/GTZ and Ministries in Tonga to Provide Training on Adaptation to Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region

The Forestry Division of the Ministry for Agriculture and Food, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Tonga, in collaboration with CLIMsystems Ltd. of New Zealand, hosted a training workshop for technical officers of the Ministry for Environment and Climate Change, MAFFF and the Meteorology Department, to utilise and apply TongaSimCLIM and compatible PlantGro, enabling the examination of impacts and adaptations to climate variability and change in ‘Eua island and other parts of Tonga.

Alofa, Tonga and Hamilton, New Zealand (PRWEB) November 5, 2010

Nuku’ Last month, the Forestry Division in the Ministry for Agriculture and Food, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Tonga, hosted a workshop that linked Tonga with CLIMsystems, the developer and service provider of a special version of SimCLIM called TongaSimCLIM. The software has been customised for use by Tonga with a local, very high resolution (30 metre) digital elevation model for the islands of Tongatapu, Vava’u, Ha’apai and Niuatoputapu, and climate and other data specifically collected for application in the Pacific Island Kingdom. The training and provision of software to Tonga was financially supported by the SPC/GTZ Programme on Adaptation to Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region (ACCPIR). ACCPIR is supporting Tonga in the development of effective land use planning processes, adaptation strategies, and supporting databases to allow the land-based sector to better cope with climate change. This is carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Forests and Fisheries (MAFFF), the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Natural Resources (MLSN), and the Meteorology Department. Tonga’s Initial National Communication in response to its commitment under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) states the need to enhance institutional capacity as a national response to climate change.

The combination of rising sea levels, ocean acidification, sea surface temperature changes and exacerbated extreme events such as droughts and heavy localized rainfall events are just some of the more visible examples of global environmental change occurring across the region. Smaller, incremental changes in the underlying climate also impact on day-to-day activities such rain water harvesting. Salt water intrusion, degradation of the fringing reef, problems of freshwater supply during extended droughts, vector borne disease outbreaks during extended periods of wet weather and flooding during extreme rainfall events could become more prevalent. These can be linked to increasing temperatures and shifts in precipitation regimes that are starting to exceed sensitive thresholds.

GTZ contracted CLIMsystems to provide not only a customised modelling system for the island kingdom but also technical training on implementing its application. An enduring relationship has been formed and is based on excellent communication between the Tonga team with representatives from Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, MET-office, and other specialist areas. The Workshop of October 2010 saw the handing over of several new tools and specific training in a range of applications. One of the most helpful developments for the Tonga team was the turning over of a high resolution TongaSimCLIM that included 21 general circulation models, tools for generating ensembles, analysing extreme weather events, and running rainwater tank simulations which include the application of climate change scenarios. The latter showed that although the annual precipitation will increase in Tongatapu as a result of climate change, dry periods will actually get drier. Also included in the turnover was a customized version of PlantGro so that the Agriculture group can explore possible alternative crops and trees for islands in the Kingdom.

Another important activity completed during this visit enabled sea level data to be analysed using TongaSimCLIM and other software products developed by CLIMsystems. The TongaSimCLIM sea level rise scenario generator is the only climate impact assessment tool of its kind that considers local trends in sea level rise in combination with vertical land movements, over time, in its computation of potential sea level rise scenarios. During the workshop Tonga data from Australia’s National Tidal Centre and the TOPEX/POSEIDON (T/P) satellite programme for the past 17 years were analysed for trends. The derived figures of 9.21 mm a year for the tidal station and 6.29 mm a year for the satellite data led to the conclusion that the area around the tidal station is sinking at a rate of 2.92 mm per year.

By 2100 a possible sea level rise of 952 mms for Tongatapu was found when high climate sensitivity was applied to a worse case story line for global greenhouse gas emissions. The worst case from the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for the world is 590 mms. The fact that the area is slowly sinking worsens the real rate of sea level rise. It is important to note that this is just one scenario of possible sea level change and the length of the data record is modest. However sea level rise is not the most critical concern for the reefs of Tonga. On a much shorter time period, sea surface temperatures and, especially ocean acidification, will further impact on the health and vitality of the fringing reef. This has implications for the adaptation planning that Tonga must consider.

The strength behind the TongaSimCLIMmodelling system is the inherent ability to quickly and efficiently construct alternative scenarios based on different assumptions about the future. The range of possibilities and the uncertainty that they represent form the basis for a high quality risk and enhanced adaptation option assessment.

The technical officers from MECC, MAFFF, MLSN and the Meteorology Department will utilise and apply TongaSimCLIM and compatible PlantGro 4.0 for examining impacts and adaptations to climate variability and change in ‘Eua and other parts of Tonga. The built capacity (as identified in a regional planning workshop for the SPC/GTZ ACCPIR-Programme) will help in developing and implementing policies, strategies and plans at all levels and all stages.

'Morning Lark' or 'Night Owl'- What's the Healthiest Sleep Pattern?

'Morning Lark' or 'Night Owl'- What's the Healthiest Sleep Pattern?

People come in all types; it's our diversity that makes us so interesting. When it comes to the patterns of our days and our nights, experts generally categorize us as falling into three fairly distinct types: morning people (larks), night people (owls), and those who are indifferent or don't tend to either extreme (hummingbirds).

BOSTON, MA. (PRWEB) May 14, 2004

Are you a morning person? If you are, then you probably love getting up at the crack of dawn, taking a walk outside in the crisp fresh air, and getting an early start "to beat the rush." Your mornings are extremely productive. On the flip-side, maybe your body is beginning to tire out right when the sun goes down, and you're well off to sleep before the late night talk shows hit the airways.

Or perhaps you're a night owl. After dinner is your best time of day. You're energized and ready to go. As the song says, you love the nightlife and you've got to boogie. Even working through mentally challenging tasks well into the wee hours of the morning is not a problem for you. But when that old alarm clock rings, and rings, and rings, getting out of bed and taking the world in stride for that first few hours of the morning can be tough.

People come in all types; it's our diversity that makes us so interesting. When it comes to the patterns of our days and our nights, experts generally categorize us as falling into three fairly distinct types: morning people (larks), night people (owls), and those who are indifferent or don't tend to either extreme (hummingbirds).

In our culture, those who fall in the middle (hummingbirds) make up the majority of people (around 60% of the population). The remainder of the population is roughly divided equally between morning and evening types with each consisting of approximately 20%.

Individuals who tend to be early risers are labeled larks. These people will just naturally awaken about 2 hours earlier than the majority of the population and are typically ready for sleep between the hours of 8:00pm and 10:00pm. For a lark, midnight is literally considered the middle of the night. Founding father Benjamin Franklin is one famous lark; the current Dali Lama is another.

Night or evening folks are called owls. They naturally function best when waking about 2 hours later than the majority of the population. Owls almost never feel sleepy until well after midnight. The author James Joyce and the statesman Winston Churchill were two well-known and successful night owls.

Naturally, larks tend to socialize with other larks and owls with other owls. After all, larks bump into other larks during those early morning outings and owls hang out with other owls at night.

That's all well and good. But in a culture where difference is sometimes not easily accepted or tolerated, some unfortunate misconceptions can arise. For instance, because of an inability to accept difference many larks come to consider owls as "lazy" and many owls regard larks as simply "boring." It is after all so easy to stereotype and simplify. So cowardly. So dangerous.

That said. It is important to investigate and understand what legitimate consequences these differing sleep and waking patterns have on our lives.

Does the Early Bird Really Catch More Worms?

It's the morning lark Benjamin Franklin who is credited with the famous saying, "Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Recently, Franklin's old adage was put to the test by researchers in England. The results, while not earth-shattering, may nevertheless surprise you.

One surprise stemming from the research was that night owls scored statistically higher on socioeconomic indicators such as income and economic stability.

Perhaps more telling were the general results. When all the research came in it was clear that the folks who went to bed early and woke up first were no better or no worse off than those who went to bed late and woke up late in terms of personal and family well-being, cognitive function, and overall health.

Basically, after extensive research neither sleep pattern could be linked to improved health or mental function.

The moral of the story: if you follow your own path and adhere to the sleep pattern that comes most natural to you, then you'll be putting yourself in line with your own internal rhythms and you'll be living the life you were meant to live. To be truly "healthy, wealthy, and wise" larks should live like larks, owls like owls, and hummingbirds like hummingbirds. It just makes sense, doesn't it?

"Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

--Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father

"It's a sin to go to bed on the same day you get up."

Silk Purse Women Magazine Founders Appear on Regional Cable Television Show - Women in Mind - Speak to the Power of Women Over 40

Silk Purse Women Magazine Founders Appear on Regional Cable Television Show - Women in Mind - Speak to the Power of Women Over 40

Women over 40 are doing amazing things to reinvent themselves - and in the process, are achieving benefits not only for themselves but also for society, addressing topics that cover a range of issues for women such as financial planning, health and style, care giving, community outreach and diversity.

Wayne, NJ (PRWEB) November 7, 2008

Silk Purse Women magazine's co-founders Lorraine LaShell and Christine Spear, will appear during the month of November on a popular regional Cable TV show called Women on Mind. Airing in Morris, Warren and Sussex counties, the segment, "Powerful Women Over 40," will broadcast on Comcast, Port Murray, Channel 21, Wednesdays 5:30 PM; Cablevision, Randolph, Tuesdays, 6:30 PM; and STVC, Sussex, Channel 44, Saturdays, 9:00 AM and Mondays, noon.

Interviewer Deborah Diamond Fisch, Psy. D, director of the North Jersey Women's Center, will speak to LaShell and Spear, former senior account managers, who left the ad world and pursued a mission to make life's journey more fun and easier for a group of like-minded women over 40. According to LaShell and Spear, these women are doing amazing things to reinvent themselves--and in the process, are achieving benefits not only for themselves but also for society.

Silk Purse Women, with its Powerful, Over 40 and Amazing tagline, is a quarterly publication that addresses topics that cover a range of issues for women such as financial planning, health and style, care giving, community outreach and diversity. "We are pleased to tell our story on Women in Mind, especially at a time when we are expanding our readership into Warren County," say LaShell and Spear, who note the magazine has a readership base that extends from Northern New Jersey to Monmouth and parts of Mercer Counties.

Spear, Silk Purse Women editor-in-chief, describes the publication as a "regional More magazine. Nothing has been done to provide information and insight to this over-40 demographic on a local level," Spear says.

"In addition, the magazine gives women who own small businesses an opportunity to get their message heard by women in major corporations," says LaShell, Silk Purse publisher and executive vice president.

Despite a regional base, Silk Purse Women showcases nationally prominent people. Recent issues featured former Good Morning America co-host, Joan Lunden; former New Jersey Governor and Administrator of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency Christine Todd Whitman; and actress - turned-motivational-author-and-speaker Suzanne Sommers. The upcoming issue will feature Jean Chatzky, best-selling author, motivational speaker and financial editor for NBC's Today, contributing editor for More Magazine, columnist for The New York Daily News, and a contributor to The Oprah Winfrey Show and host of a daily show on the XM radio's Oprah & Friends channel.

Fisch describes Silk Purse Women as "quite a magazine," and says she admires LaShell and Spear for their accomplishments in evolving over five years from a cottage industry enterprise--Silk Purse Women started as a grassroots publication printed out of Spear's basement--to a full-blown magazine that has the power of the media behind it.

LaShell and Spear indicate they continually turn to other professionals who share their expertise, and work with a team of freelancers who bring distinct talents, styles and viewpoints to the table. They have grown the number of pages dramatically and sport advertisers representing national brands. In addition, LaShell and Spear have applied for Silk Purse certification as a Women's Business Enterprise, which is "opening a lot more doors for them."

In the future, LaShell and Spear indicate they will continue to increase the size and distribution of the magazine. They will also find more innovative ways to use the Internet to reach even more women.

Silk Purse Women is a quarterly publication and website for women over 40, read by more than 65,000 women. The magazine's pages are filled with information on such topics as professional challenges and successes, philanthropic opportunities, care giving tips, living longer healthier, and much more.

Real Digital Media Integrates NEOCAST® Digital Signage Platform with the rVueTM Demand-Side Platform

Real Digital Media Integrates NEOCAST® Digital Signage Platform with the rVueTM Demand-Side Platform

Integration provides media buyers using rVue with access to the most current location and playout data from networks powered by NEOCAST®

Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) July 13, 2010

Real Digital Media (RDM), provider of the innovative NEOCAST® Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for managing digital signage networks, and rVue Holdings, Inc.’s (RVUE:OTCBB) subsidiary, rVue, the first demand-side platform for Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) media planning and buying, today announced the open integration between the two platforms. Current and future network operators using NEOCAST® are now able to benefit from the automated delivery of location-specific details about their networks required by ad agencies and advertisers seeking to make informed media buys through rVue. At the same time, rVue can now provide campaign playout and compliance data to agencies through its direct feed from NEOCAST®.

The open and free-to-use rVue Media Planner streamlines the creation of DOOH media plans by promoting awareness of the various participating networks, providing relevant information about available networks, establishing communication between the networks and agencies, and reducing media planning time through a real-time search and selection of available touchpoints/screens, impressions and cost. The rVue demand-side platform consolidates all of this information into a single buy that is comprehensive yet easy to execute.

Ken Goldberg, CEO of Real Digital Media, states, “This integration is important to Real Digital Media and our customers because it removes a barrier between buyers and sellers, which is an essential element to not only our mutual growth but for the digital signage industry as a whole. In order for the DOOH industry to establish credibility within advertising circles, we need to adopt practices that make it easy to buy, encourage standards that establish a uniform experience, and create an ecosystem that benefits all participants. rVue’s selection of NEOCAST® represents an initial effort to bring these principles to our clients and the ad agencies making DOOH part of their advertising mix.”

How it Works

Enrollment into rVue is free and available to any agency, advertiser or network provider by simply logging in, creating an rVue account and building their agency/advertiser or network profile. Each network profile features such relevant information as audience demographics, location geographics, target venues and overall impressions to help advertisers evaluate and target their locations for media plans. With the announced integration, rVue network profiles powered by NEOCAST® can now be provided with the majority of this location-specific and compliance data automatically. This allows network operators to leverage the data already acquired throughout the course of their NEOCAST® rollout and operations in a seamless manner. This saves time, effort and ensures consistency of their data across platforms, which is essential for ad agencies requiring confidence in the accuracy of the media plans designed and executed for their clients.

“The ongoing mission of the rVue demand-side platform is to contribute to the growth of the digital out-of-home environment by providing resources that remove barriers to entry, and streamline the management, planning and purchasing of DOOH media,” said Jason Kates, Chief Executive Officer of rVue, Inc. “This integration was developed to provide the accountability, data and transparency ad-based networks need to further attract advertisers, while shortening or eliminating their data management time. On the other side, this connection enables advertisers to receive the data and analytics they need for greater adoption of the media. RDM is a valued ally and we’re proud to work with their team on this initiative.”

Currently, rVue has enrolled networks in major DMAs across the United States and Canada with European expansion underway.

Alvaka Networks, Inc., announces its appointment as a SonicWALL's Managed Security Services Partner (MSSP) and Member of their MSSP Referral Network (MRN). This appointment confirms Alvaka's position as a leading managed security services provider.

Huntington Beach, Calif. (PRWEB) August 11, 2005

Alvaka Networks, Inc., announces its appointment as a SonicWALL Managed Security Services Partner (MSSP) and Member of their new MSSP Referal Network (MRN). This appointment confirms Alvaka's position as a leading Managed Security Services Provider. SonicWALL provides a dynamic platform that Alvaka Networks will customize to deliver unique managed security solutions comprising of firewall, VPN, anti-virus, anti-spyware, content filtering, and intrusion prevention, tailored to each customer's needs.

The MSSP program and MRN agreement has presented Alvaka with a rare opportunity. This relationship empowers Alvaka to leverage its 12+ years of Managed Service Provider (MSP) experience together with SonicWall's powerful, simple and affordable security solutions and significant customer footprint. Building on the combined channel and market recognition of the two companies, and an aggressive go-to-market strategy, Alvaka Networks expects to move the SonicWall product up channel, increase the renewals and retention of SonicWall support agreements, and convert static firewall customers to users of managed security appliances.

“Alvaka Networks will bring the highest levels of professionalism and customer service to our small to medium size clients”, said Sugata Sanyal, senior director of managed security services at SonicWall. “During its twelve-year MSP history, Alvaka Networks has proven to be a true pioneer and influencer in the MSP space. They have been instrumental to vendors such as SonicWALL in gaining valuable insight into the MSP sales, pricing and delivery model. We are excited to have them on board as an MSSP partner.”

“Many appliance vendors have started the process of bundling third party functionality into their products,” said Rex Frank, CTO of Alvaka Networks. “Anti-virus, spam filtering, anti-spyware and intrusion prevention solutions are now being included with what we once knew as firewalls. These multi-function appliances will fast become commonplace in the market but SonicWall has been one of the first to provide a well-rounded offering in this space following a far-reaching technology refresh. The combination of Alvaka 's managed services, Sonicwall's multifunction appliances, and affordable new monthly pricing creates a winning proposition.” This new offering will deliver secure, affordable, outsourced security services for end users and the VARs who support them. SonicWALL introduced its MSSP program this year to provide channel partners with a new framework for providing outsourced security services and allow them to take part in the worldwide market for managed services, estimated by IDC to reach $21.7 billion by 2007.

SonicWALL and Alvaka have brought significant investment and strong commitment to this relationship, which will bring the productivity and security benefits of both SonicWALL's MSSP program and Alvaka Networks' award winning services to the forefront among resellers and customers. Alvaka and Sonicwall Channel partners will be able to offer their customers comprehensive, affordable security services to ease the administrative burden of maintaining a secure network. Davis resigned on January 31, 2009 as President and CEO of DIR Group, Inc., a Scottsdale-based event management and speakers bureau she founded in 1994. The company has managed events for organizations all over the world including HP, Morgan Stanley, IBM, and produced two Inaugural events for Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, the SuperBowl XXX Half-time Show and the location production for the movie Jerry Maquire starring Tom Cruise. During her tenure as the Phoenix Metro President of NAWBO, the organization experienced a doubling of its membership base, and Davis was recognized with the NAWBO "National Member of the Year" award. "Donna is the kind of community leader that ASBA needs! As a past president of NAWBO Phoenix, she gained the resources throughout the state to succeed", commented Lea Marquez-Peterson, a past Tucson NAWBO President and Business Broker at Tucson Biz For Sale.

Davis has served on such boards at the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, Chandler Chamber of Commerce, East Valley Community Bank, Herberger Theater Center and Women Impacting Public Policy. She has been honored with other accolades including the 2004 ATHENA recipient, U. S. In her new role at ASBA, Davis will oversee the overall strategic direction for the organization. Among her key objectives is elevating ASBA's profile throughout the state, offering relevant and timely resources for the members and growing relationships with partners and alliances. "ASBA is one of the best kept secrets in the state and we plan to change that," says Davis.

Prior to establishing DIR Group, Davis spent twelve years in the microcomputer industry and distinguished herself as one of the most influential women in the industry. "We feel very strongly about giving back to the community," said David Sarabia, Director of Marketing for the U-Printing Network. New Study Finds Black Women Are Major Earners, Family Decision-Makers Among African American Population

New Study Finds Black Women Are Major Earners, Family Decision-Makers Among African American Population

African American womenÂ’s share of the Black populationÂ’s earning and purchasing power is significantly higher than that enjoyed by women in other population groups, according to a new study by market research publisher Packaged Facts. Now in itÂ’s fifth edition, The U. S. African American Market reports that the aggregate income of Black women is equal to 49% of the total income of the Black population, while Hispanic and non-Hispanic white women account for only around one-third of aggregate income for their respective groups.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 19, 2004

African American womenÂ’s share of the Black populationÂ’s earning and purchasing power is significantly higher than that enjoyed by women in other population groups, according to a new study by market research publisher Packaged Facts. Now in itÂ’s fifth edition, The U. S. African American Market reports that the aggregate income of Black women is equal to 49% of the total income of the Black population, while Hispanic and non-Hispanic white women account for only around one-third of aggregate income for their respective groups.

The study goes on to report that African American women are also more likely than women in other population groups to be key decision-makers in their households for a wide range of products and services. These include health-care plans, financial services, home electronics, mobile/wireless services, computer equipment, automobiles and major purchases like homes.

"African-American women tend to be undervalued as consumers by manufacturers and service providers," said Don Montuori, Acquisitions Editor for Packaged Facts. "Yet this population wields considerable purchasing power and influence, and a consumer goods company that acknowledges and actively courts this market stands a good chance of being rewarded at the cash register."

The U. S. African American Market – 5th Edition presents expert demographic analysis in a concise format. Information is presented on population and growth trends, media usage and advertising trends, the influence of various population segments on consumer spending, buying power projections, and much more. This new report is priced at $3500 and is available for purchase at www. MarketResearch. com or directly from the publisher at www. PackagedFacts. com. Nutri-Health Supplements Launches Improved Probiotic “Mucus Solution” for Year-Round Sinus Support

Nutri-Health Supplements Launches Improved Probiotic “Mucus Solution” for Year-Round Sinus Support

What do probiotics and a unique antioxidant have to do with sinus health and nasal discharge? Nutri-Health Supplements announces the launch of improved Flora Sinus®, a patent-pending probiotic formula that helps thin out thick, sticky mucus for continuous sinus health support.

Cottonwood, AZ (PRWEB) August 25, 2010

Healthy Mucus is Your Friend

There’s no doubt about it, sinus congestion is year-round for countless Americans! Nutri-Health Supplements, a leading probiotic company since 1987, has developed a supplement they call “the mucus solution” – Flora Sinus® Seasonal Support to help provide relief.

Flora Sinus features a unique antioxidant shown in laboratory bench studies to dissolve mucus on contact and help break up thick, sticky mucus, as well as four clinically backed probiotic strains to support daily sinus health.

“Mucus is very much misunderstood and unfairly maligned,” says Michael Lee, Product Development Director for Nutri-Health. “You do not want to get rid of mucus or dry it up. You want it to flow normally. Normal mucus flow is crucial to sinus and nasal health.”

The nose is one of the first lines of defense for the body. Tiny hairs trap incoming irritants and flowing nasal mucus helps move irritants out of the nose and through the sinus drainage system. If nasal and sinus mucus becomes too thick or sticky, sinus drainage becomes difficult.

Good Bacteria are Also Your Friend

Many people misunderstand the positive function of bacteria as well as mucus. Yet good bacteria are absolutely crucial to your health. And guess where they live? In your mucus!

Healthy mucus is populated by friendly bacteria, which function as part of the body’s immune system. Taking a daily probiotic supports healthy mucus and a normal immune system.

A clinical study by Swiss researchers found that four specific probiotic strains could help support a healthy balance of friendly bacteria in the nose. The Nutri-Health probiotic formula, Flora Sinus, was inspired by this Swiss clinical study.

Mucus Busting Antioxidant is Another Key to Sinus Health

The improved patent-pending Flora Sinus formula has double the previous dosage of a unique antioxidant that helps break up thick, sticky mucus. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) at 600 mg per serving helps keep mucus flowing normally.

A laboratory bench study showed that NAC dissolved thick mucus on contact. The researchers used reconstituted human nasal mucus to determine the effectiveness of NAC and other compounds on thinning out thick mucus secretions.

Mayo Clinic Backs Importance of Normal Mucus

Recent research at the Mayo Clinic has focused the spotlight on the importance of nasal mucus and a normal immune system response to irritants as the two pillars of sinus health.**

“Prior to the Mayo Clinic research, doctors thought the immune response to nasal and sinus irritants occurred only in the nasal tissue,” says Lee. “Mayo Clinic researchers found that the immune response in the nasal mucus was just as important.”

Sinus Challenges in America – A Case of Misery Loves Company

One out of seven American adults experience sinus health challenges, according to the National Center of Health Statistics.

“This formula is so unique and so effective in promoting clear, healthy sinuses that we have applied for a patent,” says Trish Mahon, CEO of Nutri-Health Supplements, LLC. “No other product has this unique combination of specific probiotic strains shown to support nasal health and a powerful, mucus-thinning antioxidant.”

How to Succeed With Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Solution Dallas Weight Loss Expert Provides Action Plan

How to Succeed With Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Solution Dallas Weight Loss Expert Provides Action Plan

Media heavyweight, Dr. Phil McGraw, is driving home the weight loss message that reputable health, fitness, and nutrition experts have so far been unsuccessful in delivering to the masses: “There is no magic pill, fad diet or exercise gizmo that will melt away your fat - it takes a personal commitment and a supportive plan of action."

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 21, 2003

In his new book, The Ultimate Weight Solution: 7 Keys To Weight Loss Freedom, Dr. Phil addresses the behavioral modifications necessary to achieving successful, long term weight loss:

1. The Right Thinking: His idea is that you have to believe you can achieve results and that you can't always blame others.

2. The Healing Feelings: His idea is that people too often eat for emotional reasons and that is a large cause of gradual weight gain over time.

3. Create a No-Fail Environment: Simply put, if you get rid of the junk food in your house, you can't be tempted to eat it.

4. Mastery Over Food and Impulse Eating: His idea is that you need to be aware of the time during the day when you are likely to binge on food, and then to make sure you are doing something during that time so you can't over-eat.

5. Eat High-Response, High Nutrition Foods: His idea is that you should focus on eating foods that take longer to prepare and longer to eat. The idea behind this is that most of these foods are more natural and are less likely to be binge foods.

6. Intentional Exercise: Dr. Phil believes that you have to plan your exercise. If you don't, it probably won't happen. He also believes you should do it even if it's not fun because you are doing it not only for yourself, but also for your family.

7. Circle of Support: Have friends that will support your weight management goals, rather than detract from them. If you have friends that are constantly living an unhealthy lifestyle, what are the chances that you will be able to make healthy choices when you are around them?

Based on this solid foundation of no-nonsense practical advice, Dr. Phil will likely sell millions of books, but the readers will not benefit without supportive action.

To spur readers of Dr. Phil's book to action, a Dallas certified Personal Trainer and Master Fitness by Phone® Coach, Dolletta Mitchell, of EliteTrainersUSA. com reveals the “ultimate” fitness system. “Nothing is more power and more effective for achieving a client’s fitness goals than Fitness by Phone®," says Mitchell.

“The phone coaching program get people motivated to get results anytime, anyplace, based on objective feedback, at a fraction of the cost of traditional personal training, and guarantees client results or their money back,” says Mitchell. Armed with the latest in fitness monitoring technology as their 24/7 personal trainers (called Motivational Activity Monitors), Fitness by Phone® clients check in weekly with their coach for a 20 minute phone session designed to provide the expert focus and guidance necessary to increase the rate at which clients get results and get motivated. “The Fitness by Phone® clients get far better results than almost any personal training client I’ve ever had in my career as a personal trainer,” says Mitchell.

Ms. Mitchell is a provocative and informative expert on motivation and fitness and welcomes all questions from the media or public. You can also visit her website at http://EliteTrainersUSA. com (http://EliteTrainersUSA. com) for a detailed description of the programs.

“The winners in the MRM space will enable field service businesses to optimize their operational expenditure through highly efficient and agile field service resources that offer more than simply basic tracking & dispatch software,” says Frost & Sullivan Industry Research Manager Brent Iadarola.

Businesses are facing tremendous pressure to utilize MRM as a means of gaining a competitive advantage as early adopters increasingly demonstrate tangible ROI with deployments. The key tenet of the MRM value proposition is to reduce execution risk in field operations by leveraging location and real time access to mission-critical applications to improve management visibility into field activities, increase field force productivity and reduce operating costs.

Best Non-Profit Website of 2006 to be Named by Web Marketing Association

Best Non-Profit Website of 2006 to be Named by Web Marketing Association

The Web Marketing Association will again be honoring the Best Non-profit Web site of 2006. The deadline to enter the 10th annual international WebAward Competition is May 31, 2006.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2006

The Web Marketing Association announces the call for entries for its 10th annual international WebAward Competition at http://www. webawards2006.org (http://www. webawards2006.org). The WebAwards is the standards-defining competition that sets industry benchmarks based on the seven criteria of a successful Web site.

Non-Profit organizations represent an important category in the WebAward competition, and the Web Marketing Association will again be honoring the Best Non-profit Web site of 2006. The deadline for entry is May 31, 2006.

“Non-Profit organizations are very competitive when it comes to Web development and they can benefit from the independent evaluation of their online efforts that the award judges provide,” said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. “Non-profits as an industry generally are below average compared to overall ISAR Index during each of the past nine years. On a positive note, non-profit Web sites have won more overall awards than any other industry category, partially due to the discounted entry fee for the non-profit category.”

Each year the Web Marketing Association names the Best Non-Profit Website based on the scores submitted by the competition judges. Recent winners of the “Best Non-Profit Web site” WebAwards include:

2005 Project Rebirth Web Site

2004 WWF Children of the Earth

2003 Teen Health Talk

2002 Corridos Sin Fronteras

A complete list of past winners and the entry form for companies who wish to compete for 2006 honors can be found at http://www. webaward2006.org (http://www. webaward2006.org).

Web sites are judged on seven criteria including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copy writing and ease of use and receive a numeric score. Each WebAward entry is judged against other entries in its industry category and then against an overall standard of excellence. Entrants also benefit from receiving valuable feedback from the WebAwards professional judging panel on their Web site development efforts.

Using the quantifiable data collected from 9,748 Web site evaluations over the past decade, the WebAwards has defined and recognized industry-specific benchmarks for successful Web sites in each of the seven judging criteria and released an Internet Standards Assessment Report to detail the findings of the study.

“Participants in the 2006 WebAwards non-profit category will receive their scores in each of the seven criteria compared to the average of the entire industry. That type of feedback and benchmarking alone in worth the price of admission,” said Rice.

A copy of the Internet Standards Assessment Report, including details regarding the radio non-profit industry through 2005, is available at www. webawards2006.org.

Judging for the 2006 WebAwards will take place in June through August, with winners announced in September. Judges will consist of a select group of Internet marketing professionals who have direct experience designing and managing Web sites with an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in Web site development and technology. Mark Kingdon, CEO of Organic, Inc. (www. organic. com) has been selected to lead the judging panel this year. Past judges have included top executives from leading organizations such as Ogilvy Interactive, Saatchi & Saatchi, Blattner Brunner, Comedy Central, Sun Microsystems, Refinery, Euro RSCG, EPB Interactive, New York Post Interactive, The Cincinnati Enquirer, J. Walter Thompson, Xerox, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Modem Media, and Answerthink just to name a few.

The 2006 WebAward Competition current sponsors include Burst Media (www. burstmedia. com), SimpleFeed (www. simplefeed. com), Register. com (www. register. com), NewsUSA (www. newsusa. com), AdTools Inc(www. adtoolsinc. com), Small Army (www. smallarmy. net), Perseus Development Corp (www. perseus. com) and PRWeb (www. prweb. com). National Oncologist Group Warns: Current Health Care Reform Legislation Woefully Short In Addressing Cancer Care Crisis

National Oncologist Group Warns: Current Health Care Reform Legislation Woefully Short In Addressing Cancer Care Crisis

COA Submits Recommendations to President Obama and Congressional Leadership

Washington, D. C. (Vocus) December 12, 2009

The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) today issued a statement warning that oncologists throughout the U. S. may face closing their practices if critical Medicare reimbursement fixes for treating cancer patients are not made as a part of health care reform.

“Current health reform legislation before Congress does not address major inadequacies in Medicare reimbursement and substantial cuts coming in January to cancer care,” said Patrick Cobb, M. D., president of COA and managing partner of Hematology-Oncology Centers of the Northern Rockies in Billings, Montana. “These problems are impacting oncologists now. Many have had to let staff go, and some have already closed practices in communities across the U. S.”

“Released this week, the Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer highlighted the progress made in treating cancer over the past 30 years. This country’s cancer care system deserves much of the credit for helping cancer patients receive high quality treatment near home, in their own communities,” continued Dr. Cobb. “But this system is under threat if President Obama and Congress do not act before January. These January cuts threaten the viability of the nation’s community cancer care delivery system, where 84% of Americans with cancer are treated, and jeopardize patients’ access to care. ”

In separate letters to President Barack Obama, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, COA president Dr. Cobb submitted a statement approved by the COA Board of Directors, including a six-part recommendation on solving the cancer care crisis. COA noted that the recent financial crisis has exposed the fragility of the health care payment system, with more Americans unable to afford cancer care and falling between the treatment cracks.

In a national call to action, the organization is encouraging oncology professionals and the entire cancer community to contact Members of Congress to request action on these recommendations, starting with the prevention of planned severe Medicare cuts to cancer care. These cuts start in January and continue to increase over the next four years.

“As a nation, we have watched the health care reform legislation evolve over the past year. One issue we have not heard much about -- and not through lack of trying -- is legislation for the reform of cancer care,” continued Dr. Cobb. “Although there are certain positive aspects of reform relating to insurance coverage, the proposed legislation comes up woefully short in addressing a growing cancer care crisis. ”

Prior to Congress embarking on health reform legislation, a national team of oncologists spent more than a year researching and developing a plan to improve the Medicare payment system for cancer care. This initiative resulted in collaborating with members of Congress, now embodied in the National Cancer Care Demonstration Project Act of 2009 (H. R. 3675).

Dr. Cobb noted, “Because of the timing of the health care reform debate, we’re concerned that progress in funding and implementing this very specific national project is too slow to stop the impact of the upcoming January cuts.”

The organization has issued a six-part recommendation, which includes immediate action:
1. Enact real-world solutions to enhancing quality cancer care while controlling costs by including the National Cancer Care Demonstration Project Act of 2009 (H. R. 3675) in health care reform legislation.
2. Stop implementation of Medicare reimbursement cuts to cancer care, especially the payment reduction to cancer drug administration.
3. Stop the 2010 21.2% Medicare reimbursement payment cut affecting all physician-related services and fix the broken Medicare payment system based on the SGR formula.
4. Stop cutting cancer care reimbursement further by using cuts to pay for primary care bonuses.
5. Fix the problem of artificially low Medicare drug reimbursement by including the “prompt pay” solution in health care reform legislation.
6. Eliminate the 20% Medicare patient co-payment requirement for cancer drugs.

A full statement is listed the organization’s web site (www. communityoncology. org).

“The War on Cancer, declared almost 40 years ago, has resulted in increased survival for Americans with cancer and has transformed many cancers from a death sentence to a chronic disease,” continued Dr. Cobb. “However, the cost of cancer is still in excess of $220 billion annually and it claims the life of one American every minute. Congress must act now as health care reform legislation is being debated because the risk of getting this wrong is too great, both as measured in medical costs and the lives of Americans.”

About Community Oncology Alliance (COA)
COA is a non-profit organization dedicated solely to community oncology. COA was founded by community oncology to advocate for patients and providers in the community oncology setting, where 84 percent of Americans with cancer are treated. In only six years of existence, COA has mobilized community oncology to become more politically active, and increased awareness on Capitol Hill about the community cancer care delivery system. Additionally, COA has brought together community oncology practices from across the country to share information in order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the cancer care they provide to their patients.

Currently, COA is working with the Congress in providing proactive solutions designed to protect the viability of the nation’s cancer care delivery system and patients' access to quality, affordable cancer care. The cancer death rate in the U. S. has declined due to earlier detection, the quality of treatment, and the accessibility of cancer care. However, according to the American Cancer Society, men still have an approximately one in two lifetime risk of developing cancer, with a risk of one in three for women. Pain for Pregnant Workers and Employers Avoidable, Expert Says

Pain for Pregnant Workers and Employers Avoidable, Expert Says

The burgeoning number of women leaving work each year over pregnancy discrimination and ignorance by employers could be dramatically reduced if employers act on their obligations, a leading health and safety company has advised.

(PRWEB) February 12, 2005

As many as 30,000 working women are forced out of their jobs annually because of pregnancy discrimination, including being denied promotion and bonuses, facing verbal abuse and employers failing to make adequate provisions for them.

Employers who fail to support new and expectant mothers are creating unnecessary risk, both for themselves and their employees, says Mitchell Winter, Managing Director of health & safety specialists Winter & Company.

“Businesses can protect themselves and their workers by acknowledging and acting on their legal obligations to undertake a Risk Assessment as soon as they are informed their employee is expecting,” he advises.

Some 60 per cent of employers are unaware they are required to do this, but the blame is not wholly attributable to them.

About three quarters of expectant mothers are unaware they are required to inform their employer of their expected arrival as soon as they are able to.

“Where the employer’s assessment identifies risks that cannot be avoided through prevention, the employer is obliged to ease those risks in other ways or else leave themselves open to prosecution,” Mr Winter warns.

Such steps include altering employeeÂ’s working conditions or hours of work, offering them other suitable alternative work, or suspending the employee from work on full pay.

Results from a survey by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) regarding ignorance by employers towards pregnant employees have just been branded “shocking” by analysts following their release.

Nearly half of the 1,000 women surveyed by the agency said they had experienced some form of discrimination while pregnant or on maternity leave and one in five said they had lost out financially.

One in 20 disclosed they were put under pressure to hand in their notice when they announced they were expecting a baby.

The Federation of Small Businesses responded to the figures by calling on the government to drop its ban on employers requesting details from pregnant employees about their plans for return to work.

“Far from being the way forward, this approach would only serve to cover over a wound that wouldn’t have happened in the first place if the employer had sought advice from an expert to assess both the employer’s and employee’s needs at the start,” Mr Winter concluded.

Research Shows Healthy Flooring Can Make a Difference for Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Research Shows Healthy Flooring Can Make a Difference for Allergy and Asthma Sufferers

Research shows flooring can affect health. Healthy alternatives in laminate and hardwood flooring for the home are readily available for people who suffer from allergies and asthma or anyone wanting to improve the quality of their home environment to keep health problems at bay.

Anniston, AL (PRWEB) December 12, 2006

There is new research that gives even greater evidence that the type of flooring in a home can make a difference in your health. A study supported by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) shows that there are bacterial chemicals, called endotoxins. These endotoxins are a by product of bacteria which is found everywhere in the home. "When we analyzed the dust samples, we found that kitchen and living room floors had the highest concentrations of endotoxin," said Darryl C. Zeldin, M. D., a Senior Investigator at NIEHS. "However, when we looked at where the health impact of the dust was the most significant, we found that the likelihood of having recent asthma symptoms was nearly three times greater among individuals with exposure to high levels of endotoxin in the bedroom."

Perhaps the most offensive in this area is wall-to-wall carpeting. Carpets harbor dust and other pollutants that are not readily cleaned out even with the most powerful vacuum cleaners. Dust mites are quite prevalent in carpeting and, even though they don't bite, they do leave droppings known as mite allergens. They live up to about 3 months and produce up to 300 eggs over this period of time. No matter how much one vacuums, the mites remain in the carpet, tightly clinging to the carpet fibers.

So, what are the alternatives? Jeff Blackburn, Technical Advisor at AffordaFloors. com says that "Healthy choices in flooring are readily available. Hard surface flooring is the type of flooring you want to look at, such as bamboo, cork, hardwood and laminate flooring (http://www. affordafloors. com). Most of these types of floors have very little off-gassing because they use mostly if not all natural materials in their production. Hard surface flooring is also much easier to clean and doesn't harbor harmful bacteria and dust mites."

Another benefit of some these types of floors such as bamboo and cork flooring (http://www. affordafloors. com/store/index. php/cPath/25_628) is that they are made from ecologically sustainable plants, so their harvesting is not harmful to the environment. They are also hypoallergenic and resistant to pests. Even the clear finish that is applied is usually a water-based non-toxic finish.

So check out some of the hard-surface laminate and hardwood flooring (http://www. affordafloors. com) options and give your allergies a rest.
