News 12 The Bronx Celebrates 10 Years Of Local News Coverage

News 12 The Bronx Celebrates 10 Years Of Local News Coverage

The borough's first and only dedicated news channel marks its 10th year on cable television; The cable-exclusive channel made its debut in 1998 as the first 24-hour local news channel completely dedicated to covering news of the Bronx.

Bronx, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2008

News 12 the Bronx is celebrating 10 years as the first 24-hour local news channel completely dedicated to covering news of the Bronx. The cable-exclusive channel began bringing local news to the borough of the Bronx in 1998. Ten years later, News 12 continues to serve the Bronx community with its 24-hour news channel, and has expanded to multiple distribution platforms including an on-demand channel (News 12 Interactive, channel 612 on iO TV), a cell phone service (News 12 to Go), and on the world-wide-web (www. news12.com). All services are provided at no additional cost to Cablevision subscribers.

"It was a very easy decision to start up a News 12 franchise in the Bronx", said Patrick Dolan, President of News 12 Networks. "It was clear that Bronx residents were interested in news coverage that reflected the borough they were so proud to call their own. Most news coverage in the area up to that point was focused on crime stories. When News 12 the Bronx launched and showed the real people of the Bronx on television - from the teachers to the firemen to the community leaders and more - we were embraced. We're proud of our involvement in this incredible area."

"The Bronx is an interesting place to live and work. It's diverse. It's dynamic. It has a wonderful sense of community," said Leesa Dillon, News Director of News 12 the Bronx. "News 12's commitment is to provide fair and unbiased coverage of the news that the residents of the Bronx need and want to know. It's been so for the last 10 years and will continue to be so into the future "

News 12 the Bronx has resonated with viewers since the beginning, as evident by Nielsen Media Research results. In a phone survey that is conducted bi-annually, News 12 the Bronx has been the viewer's first choice for local news and the place they turn to first when a major local event occurs for all 10 years. During the past decade, News 12 the Bronx has broken new ground with innovative local programming features such as "Ask the Borough President," where viewers can call-in or email questions to Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion. The show, which debuted in 2002, and continues to air monthly, allows residents and politicians to participate in a dialogue that they wouldn't otherwise have. Additionally, News 12 the Bronx gets into the heart of the community with its "On the Road" franchise, which consists of live news programming originating from an area locale, rather than the News 12 the Bronx studio. Such locations have included: Morris Park, Little Italy, Hunt's Point, and on the scene at the Feast of St. Theresa's in Pelham Bay.

News 12 the Bronx has also partnered with local organizations making a difference in the community. For three years it produced and aired a live forum called "DIVA Talk" which addressed the issue of domestic violence in the borough.

News 12 the Bronx was one of the first "green-minded" television stations in the country. In 2004, News 12 the Bronx replaced all of its news crew cars with the then barely-known Toyota Priuses. It was the first television station to go all-hybrid with its fleet of vehicles. The decision was made primarily because of specific environmental concerns regarding the borough. The Bronx is greatly affected by air pollution, and a study at that time conducted by the New York City Health Department indicated that the Bronx has among the highest percentile of asthma rates in the country.

News 12 the Bronx continues to provide Bronx residents the information they need every day to help them stay connected with their communities, plan their days, and keep updated with relevant Bronx happenings. This is done through award-winning reporting, local weather and traffic coverage, local sports information, community event postings, local political coverage, and everything about the people, places, and things that make the Bronx the Bronx.

Many local organizations have recognized News 12 the Bronx as a quality organization that is contributing to the community. Former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer proclaimed June 22, 1999 "News 12 the Bronx Day" for serving the Bronx Community. Additionally, Adolfo Carrion has given News 12 three proclamations for its anniversary dates and for the "Ask the Borough President" program. News 12 the Bronx has also received industry honors including, a New York Emmy Award, a National Headliner Award, a New York Associated Press honor, a New York Festival award, and a New York Press Club award.

News 12 the Bronx is part of News 12 Networks, a cable exclusive service not available to satellite or phone company TV subscribers. The Network is made up of 7 individual local news channels serving the areas of Long Island, New Jersey, Southwestern Connecticut, Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, Brooklyn, as well as the Bronx. News 12 Networks currently reaches nearly 3.8 million households in the New York market and is the country's first, largest, and most watched 24-hour local television news network.

News 12 Networks is owned and operated by Cablevision Systems Corporation. Cablevision is one of the nation's leading entertainment and telecommunications companies. Its fiber optic network passes more than 4.6 million homes and hundred of thousands of businesses in the New York metropolitan area. In addition to providing cable television, voice and high-speed Internet service, Cablevision owns and operates Madison Square Garden and its sports teams including the Knicks and Rangers. The company also operates New York's famed Radio City Music Hall and owns and operates Clearview Cinemas in the New York metropolitan area.

High Resolution Images of Your Feet Helps You to Select the Best-Fitting Shoes and Check Your Health

High Resolution Images of Your Feet Helps You to Select the Best-Fitting Shoes and Check Your Health

Cyber Consultant Co. Ltd. today announced that it developed FootChecker that helps customers of shoe retail to select shoes perfectly fit for them and discover deformities of their feet or asymmetry of their body.

(PRWEB) September 19, 2005

Cyber Consultant Co. Ltd. today announced that it developed FootChecker that helps customers of shoe retail to select shoes perfectly fit for them and discover deformities of their feet or asymmetry of their body.

About Selection of Close-Fitting Shoes *

Judging the tight-fitting shoes only by their size is out of date. To select them you must know your exact shape of your feet.

There used to be devices which scanned feet to choose the right shoes. But they did not come into wide use, because they were too expensive and took a long time to finish scanning. FootChecker we have developed is inexpensive enough for average shoe stores to introduce and instantly gathers data on feet as it uses a camera.

FootChecker analyzes high resolution images of feet and works out length and width of soles, pressure distribution map, angles of toes, hallux valgus and digitus quintus varus, etc. These data enable customers to select the best shoes quickly.

If customers permits, the images are sent via the Internet to the database of Nagae Laboratory, Kinki University. Prof. Nagae studies the relation between foot shapes and various properties, such as age, sex, occupation, stature, weight and so on. The database is very useful to shoemakers.

We are planning to establish a comprehensive shoe database so that customers can buy shoes fit for very special foot shape on the Internet.

About Health Check *

FootChecker can detect and measure the degree of such deformities as hallux valgus, digitus quintus varus, flat foot, callus, corn, etc. We are planning to tailor shoes, especially insoles to meet their special requirements.

FootChecker is also useful to measure the difference of left and right foot pressures so as to detect the asymmetry of bodies, the cause of various diseases. If your body is asymmetric, you are apt to burden your knee with extra weight to keep your balance and thus get to suffer from gonalgia, your neck gets distorted and thus get to suffer from shoulder discomfort and so on.

FootChecker is not the proper medical instrument but it surely helps to detect thses diseases.

About our Presentation *

This month we are going to submit FootChecker to an international exhibition (Global Entrepolis @Singapore 2005) . So, we invite you to our presentation.

The information on our presentation:

Place: Suntec City Convention Centre, Level 2, Room 201

"Men's Charm School" Takes Aim at Rehabilitating Bad Manners of the Male Species

"Men's Charm School" Takes Aim at Rehabilitating Bad Manners of the Male Species

The verdict is in. A lot of men are having differculty understanding women, meeting women, and/or keeping a relationship or marriage together. "How to begin understanding women" is the first course being taught at the Garland and Farmers School of Charm and Social Graces, offered by American Health University, part of the non-profit American Health Association, based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) February 2, 2005

"Men's Charm School takes Shape". "How to Begin Understanding Women" is the first course being offered by the Garland & Farmers School of Charm and Social Graces, part of American Health University. This is a course taught by women, understood by women but vastly misunderstood by men.

Communicating with the opposite sex was never easy, primarily because the male species has yet to understand women, the emotions of women or the silent gestures of the opposite sex. Since Adam met Eve, the two genders have been at each other's throat, battling each other relentlessly, attempting to control or manipulate the "Power Syndrome".

This class is for executives, men (and women) of every background who feel they barely understand the female world. For the "serial daters" and "Can't get to first base" men who need help, this class is perfect.

This class is being offered at American Health University, part of the American Health Association, based in Boca Raton, Florida.

American Health Association (AHA)is a not-for-profit public health corporation begun in 2000 with a primary mission to: improve the health, wellness and welfare of all Americans one person at a time, with a secondary mission of introducing “social responsible aging” as a means of changing the health protocol in this country.

AHA administers various programs in (a.) mental Health, (b.) holistic health and (c.) healthcare education. It also sponsors The American Volunteer Corps, akin to the Peace Corps building community through community service but with an emphasis towards community mental health.

The aim of the American Health Association is to minimize lifestyle based illnesses, diseases and premature aging or sudden death, while maximizing “health literacy” and prevention as a cure.. Preventing cancer, heart attack and stroke, say nothing about diabetes and obesity are all within the realm of possibilities if we cure the primary contagion: the American lifestyle. Aging is not a disease. The American lifestyle is! Fat food, fast foods, wrong foods, no exercise, work and life stress all begin to illustrate the problem why the American lifestyle is the problem.

For registration and/or information on The Garland & Farmer's School of Charm and Social Graces, please call 561 361 9091 or write American Health, 3200 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL. 33431 On the web: www. americanhealthassociation. org.

DuPont Achieves Significant Progress on Development of Next Generation Refrigerant for Automotive Air Conditioning

DuPont Achieves Significant Progress on Development of Next Generation Refrigerant for Automotive Air Conditioning

Tests Prove Superior Performance, Environmental Benefits

Wilmington, Del. (Vocus) October 23, 2008

DuPont today announced significant progress toward the development and commercialization of a new refrigerant for automotive air conditioning that offers a considerably lower global warming potential than hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) R-134a, which is used today. The new refrigerant candidate, hydrofluoro-olefin (HFO)-1234yf, is the product of a joint development agreement between DuPont and Honeywell, which have been working closely with automotive manufacturers and their suppliers to conduct extensive safety, environmental and performance testing.

Based upon equivalent cooling and energy performance and global adoption of one refrigerant by the year 2017, the use of the new refrigerant in new cars has the potential to save more than 2200 million liters (about 590 million gallons) of fuel annually - the equivalent of taking approximately 1.5 million cars off the road each year, compared to the in kind product.

"This development is critical to reduce the total environmental footprint associated with car air conditioning systems, and DuPont is pleased to report that current data supports the safe use of HFO-1234yf in mobile air conditioning systems globally," said Cynthia C. Green, vice president and general manager -- DuPont Fluoroproducts. "As HFO-1234yf is evaluated by automotive manufacturers in the United States, Europe, Japan and Asia, support continues to strengthen. In addition to safety, the new refrigerant offers a favorable environmental profile, compatibility with existing mobile air conditioning technology, and could enable automotive OEMs to meet the 2011 European Union regulatory deadline imposed on mobile air conditioning to begin the phase out of HFC technologies."

HFO-1234yf offers several unique attributes that make it an ideal candidate to replace R-134a for automotive air conditioning. It has a lower total environmental impact than other alternatives as measured by Life Cycle Climate Potential (LCCP) due to the combination of its extremely low global warming potential and high energy efficiency. It performs well in all regions with different climates, making it more suitable as a single, global refrigerant solution. The new refrigerant offers benefits for consumers and service technicians when compared to alternative carbon dioxide systems. It also offers the most cost-effective transition away from HFC technology because it is highly compatible with current mobile air conditioning technology.

Although specific plans have not yet been announced pending commercial agreements, DuPont is developing plans for HFO-1234yf production that would allow automotive manufacturers to meet the 2011 timeframe imposed by the EU directive.

DuPont - one of the first companies to publicly establish environmental goals 18 years ago - has broadened its sustainability commitments beyond internal footprint reduction to include market-driven targets for both revenue and research and development investment. The goals are tied directly to business growth, specifically to the development of safer and environmentally improved new products for key global markets.

DuPont is a science-based products and services company. Founded in 1802, DuPont puts science to work by creating sustainable solutions essential to a better, safer, healthier life for people everywhere. Operating in more than 70 countries, DuPont offers a wide range of innovative products and services for markets including agriculture and food; building and construction; communications; and transportation.

Nearly 90 Percent of Leopard Geckos Die Within Two Years of Captivity, But They Don’t Have To

Nearly 90 Percent of Leopard Geckos Die Within Two Years of Captivity, But They Don’t Have To

“Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” by James Tan Delivers Critical Tips and Guidelines for Saving Pet Leopard Geckos from Premature Death

Orange Park, FL (PRWEB) July 14, 2010

According to experts, more than 86 percent of pet leopard geckos die prematurely. In response to this alarming statistic, James Tan, enthusiast, expert and owner of eight leopard geckos, has released “Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko,” a new e-book about leopard gecko care (http://www. saveyourleopardgecko. com) packed with information, tips and guidance for gecko owners. The first e-book of its kind, “Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” is critical for any gecko owner who wants to ensure their pet lives a long, happy and pain-free life.

“Leopard geckos make great pets, but it’s incredibly important that potential owners take the initiative to learn as much about geckos as possible before making the decision to raise one,” said James Tan, owner of eight leopard geckos and author of “Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko.” “My new e-book is based on hundreds of questions that I’ve received and answered from gecko owners and others considering purchasing a gecko, as well as my seven years of experience raising eight leopard geckos, all healthy and happy. This e-book is definitely an eye-opener and a must-have for your library.”

First discovered in the mid-nineteenth century, the leopard gecko (http://www. saveyourleopardgecko. com) is a unique species and an increasingly popular pet choice. But while more people are becoming aware of the leopard gecko and its popularity as a pet, most owners are not informed about how to properly care for them. Due to this trend, according to experts, most leopard geckos die unnecessarily within two years of captivity.

Leopard gecko owners face a number of challenges. Because these geckos typically live in the desert, recreating an environment in which a pet gecko can live comfortably and thrive can be difficult. Additionally, there are few resources available to leopard gecko owners that provide detailed information on how to handle and feed them, and how to treat them when they become ill.

“Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” by James Tan is the first comprehensive e-book on how to properly raise leopard geckos. This e-book is designed for leopard gecko enthusiasts and owners and contains secret, insider information seldom shared by professional breeders, veterinarians and other leopard gecko owners.

“Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” includes detailed information on:
How to select and purchase a vital, healthy leopard gecko How to properly setup and clean a vivarium How to train, tame and build nurturing relationships with pet geckos How to detect and treat common illnesses that plague geckos How to effectively and successfully breed leopard geckos And other critical guidelines for leopard gecko care (http://www. saveyourleopardgecko. com)

For a limited time, customers who purchase “Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” will also receive “How to Prevent Your Leopard Gecko from Climbing Out,” “How to Find a Missing Leopard Gecko,” “Leopard Gecko Beginner Guide,” “Top 50 Leopard Gecko FAQ” and “Leopard Gecko Weekly Routine.” All bonus materials are free and valued at $57.

“My goal was to create the most informative and indispensable guide for leopard gecko owners and enthusiasts, and based on the feedback that I’ve received so far, I’ve met my goal,” said Tan. “It would be a mistake to purchase a leopard gecko before reading my new e-book.”

For more information about “Secrets to Save Your Leopard Gecko” or to purchase a copy, visit www. saveyourleopardgecko. com. The e-book is currently available for $19, and is backed by a risk-free, 60-day guarantee.
