WAN IC Market to Grow from $1.1 Billion in 2003 to $1.9 Billion in 2007
With the stabilization of capex budgets and carrier economic health showing signs of improvement, WAN IC suppliers have posted 2 quarters of successive growth. This means that recovery will finally become steady and the WAN IC market may expect growth at a 16 percent CAGR (compound annual growth rate), from $1.1 billion in 2003 to $1.9 billion in 2007, according to a new study by RHK.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2003
ÂAlthough carrier capex budgets will not rise significantly, equipment will be a larger fraction of their spending, and resolution of inventory issues will spur IC revenues forward, says Allan Armstrong, Program Director of Communications Semiconductors. In addition, merchant IC revenue growth will be more consistent as merchant ICs gain a growing share of framing and grooming switch functions.
Despite a false start, OC-192 will account for a growing share of network bandwidth. The most exciting IC opportunities are framers and grooming switches. This report segments revenue by function and line rate and provides port counts segmented by line rate, platform, and type of port. Additional information presented in the report includes broadband subscribers by region and the Top 10 broadband countries (2Q03).
