Dr. Testa Joins AthletiCamps

AthletiCamps strengthens mission to offer athletes unique training experience.

Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) December 8, 2005

AthletiCamps (www. athleticamps. com), a premier provider of cycling training camps and coaching, proudly announces that Dr. Massimo Testa has joined its coaching staff. Dr. Testa's presence makes one of the world's leading experts in sports medicine accessible to recreational and competitive cyclists and triathletes. With 25 years of experience, Dr. Testa has worked with many top athletes that represent a veritable "Who's Who" in the world of sports.

"For the past 5 years we have provided a unique and quality product to our athletes by having Dr. Testa perform physiological testing at our camps," said Bruce Hendler, AthletiCamps owner. "Now, Dr. Testa will bring his vast wealth of knowledge to our coaching program and solidify AthletiCamps position as one of the top cycling resources available to any level athlete." AthletiCamps has also added 3 new coaches, all with unique expertise, who have trained and currently work with Dr. Testa.

While a team doctor for 7-11, Motorola, and Mapei, Dr. Testa has coached and worked with the likes of Levi Leipheimer, Andrea Tafi, Andy Hampsten and many more. During his Motorola career, Bobby Julich (Team CSC) spent a couple years with Dr. Testa and still stays in touch with him today.

"Max had a huge impact on me during the start of my pro career. I was young and knew next to nothing about the sport in Europe and Max welcomed me and the other young Americans with open arms. Max is a great person and a terrific coach," said Julich.

More recently, Testa has worked with 2004 Olympian Christine Thorburn (Webcor-Platinum). "Over the three years I have worked with Testa as my coach, what has impressed me most is his uncanny ability to judge the subtle but incredibly important stressors that affect athletes' training and subsequent performance. He has never worked from a generic template for my training program, and he has always taken into account the demands of my other professional life as a physician," said Thorburn. "I can definitely say that without Max's mentoring, I would not have become an Olympian."

Dr. Testa is currently the Director of the Intermountain Sports Performance Program in Salt Lake City, UT. Along with Dr. Eric Heiden, the lab is dedicated to helping athletes of all abilities succeed in meeting their health and performance goals through physiological and biomechanical testing.
