Star 94 Raises over $1 million dollars for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in their first ever Cares for Kids Radiothon.

Last week, Star 94's morning show, Steve & Vikki and afternoon show, Cindy & Ray, helped Children's Healthcare of Atlanta raise $1,146,372 for this non-profit premier hospital. Over a 3 day period, listeners heard compelling stories of triumph and hope and called in to pledge their support. Radiothon is sponsored in over 250 cities across the country through Children's Miracle Network. In the 6 years Radiothon has been held, Star 94 raised more money than any other station in their first year.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) November 14, 2003 -

— The STAR 94 Cares for Kids radiothon, presented by Foresters, broke all records, raising $1,146,372 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in just three days. Organized by Children’s Miracle Network-Atlanta, this event broke the fundraising record for first-time Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) radiothons across the country; there are currently more than 200 such events nationwide. The previous record, $850,000, was set in Chicago three years ago.

During the course of the broadcast on Nov. 6-8, STAR 94’s Steve and Vikki, and Cindy and Ray met many patients, families and Children's Healthcare staff members who shared their inspiring stories. Their accounts prompted thousands of Star 94 listeners to open their hearts and make pledges. One listener in particular, Bruce Weiner, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for Concord Confections (maker of Dubble Bubble bubble gum), pledged $50,000 on the first day of Radiothon. On Friday, he came to the hospital to present his check, but, saying his wife encouraged him to “dig a little deeper,” handed Steve and Vikki a check for $100,000.

Money from the STAR 94 Cares for Kids radiothon will benefit ChildrenÂ’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a nonprofit organization. Listeners who still want to lend their support should visit www. star94.com to make an online gift to ChildrenÂ’s.
