For more than 12 years, George Shangrow hosted Seattle’s most popular classical music radio show. After a two-year hiatus, KPC is proud to present the return of “Live by George,” a series of chamber music concerts, featuring four of the Northwest’s finest ensembles. Fans who have been clamoring for the show’s return will once again have the opportunity to see and hear superlative music selected and introduced by the region’s classical music icon. Bacchus is a new piano trio composed of Marjorie Kransberg-Talvi, concertmaster of the Northwest Chamber Orchestra and the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Mara Finkelstein, principal cellist of the Northwest Sinfonietta, and Judith Cohen, pianist and artistic director of the Governor’s Chamber Music Festival. They will present a delightful evening of chamber music by Haydn, Bridge and Shostakovich.

This first Broadway collaboration of John Kander & Fred Ebb (of “Chicago” and “Cabaret” fame) is a rollicking romance of charming simplicity set amidst American communist agitation in the 1930s, featuring some of Kander & Ebb’s most charming tunes. Showtunes! Theatre is dedicated to presenting musicals in a concert format for the purpose of celebrating the music of the show and showcasing Seattle area talent.

An Evening with Groucho

Frank Ferrante has been becoming “America’s most gifted funny man” for over 20 years. The resulting performance, more personification than impersonation, is 90 eerily good minutes of schtick, song and spontaneous audience-ribbing. “Say the secret word and win a hundred dollars.” Artist Sponsors: Elaine E. Clement, Chuck Morgan

Kirkland Performance Center presents:

Tangoheart

Date/Time: January 28, 8pm

Reg Price: $29 • Sr $26 • Youth $15 • Group $26

Musical masters of the passion of longing, this Seattle-based sextet is all you need for the complete tango experience. Hailed as one of the best tango orchestras in North America, Tangoheart and their sultry guest dancers will make your blood boil with a repertoire ranging from dance hits of golden age of tango to the nuevo tango of the late 20th Century.

Washington Wind Symphony presents:

Lord of the Rings

Date/Time: January 22, 3pm

Reg Price: $9 • Sr $5 • Youth $5 • Group $7.50

Join the Washington Wind Symphony, the Northwest’s premier wind band, as they celebrate their 20th season by performing a compilation of some of the most beautiful symphonic literature ever written. Johan de Meij is one of today's most popular composers. His Symphony No. 1 "The Lord of the Rings" won the coveted Sudler Composition Contest, and, in 2002, was re-mastered for orchestra and first performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. A recent Seattle performance of the work in June, 2005 was hailed as "a true masterpiece worthy of its depiction of the novel and, for whatever reason, overlooked by Hollywood for use in the recent movies—de Meij deserves the same praise for his composition." Join us in January to hear this powerful work.

All KPC tickets are subject to a $1.00 service fee. Senior prices apply to adults aged 62 and older and youth prices apply to anyone aged 25 and younger with valid ID. Group discounts are available to any group of 10 or more.
