Alfresco Wherehouse Says, ‘Get Outside’
In December 2004, Marvic VOF launched its online outdoor webstore, Alfresco Wherehouse. Marcel and Victoria Koning (the partners) are avid outdoor enthusiasts and strongly believe that people donÂ’t spend enough time outdoors these days. Alfresco Wherehouse sells outdoor gear and gizmos and also promotes the benefits of being alfresco through personal insightful articles.

Marcel and Victoria live in the Netherlands since 2001, having spent many years living in South Africa and leading an active outdoor life. In Central Europe, the focus is on being inside due to the weather. It is often too cold, too rainy or too something, to be able to spend time outdoors leisurely. They fully comprehend the negative aspects of not having an outdoor lifestyle.
Our modern couch-potato lifestyle is not only unhealthy, but also unproductive for our precious personal relationships. Their article ‘Beat the Blues’ is about feeling lonely and depressed, and how we can feel reconnected again. ‘Solve your Problems’ takes a poetical look at problems that seem too huge to handle, and provides a simple, yet effective solution (based on personal experience). ‘Stronger Relationships’ is a topper among the articles - it’s short and sweet and the suggestions for building stronger relationships seem obvious, yet most people don’t follow them.
Some feedback already received includes, “It makes me want to go camping again, or on a night picnic, or something …” and “I like the way you think. Good wholesome, non-medical advice that if followed, could prevent a whole heap of doctors bills.” Alfresco Wherehouse continues to add insightful articles about the benefits of being alfresco. While ‘Born to Travel’ is their life motto, Marcel and Victoria Koning want to encourage people to get outside, and promote the adage, “There’s nothing like being alfresco!”
