Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 14, 2003

NewsRx, a leader in professional health publishing and databases, won top honors in the 2003 eHealthcare Leadership Awards.

The company was recognized for Internet excellence of its Web site http://www. NewsRx. com (http://www. NewsRx. com) during a recent health care technology conference in Phoenix, sponsored by the Chicago-based Forum for Healthcare Strategists, which received more than 1,200 entries for the award competition.

“As in previous years, the competition was very strong,” said Mark Gothberg, Fourth Annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman. “One clear trend is that leading-edge health care organizations are placing increasing focus on e-business. While the Web is an important communications medium, it is now viewed as a key vehicle in helping the organization achieve its business objectives.”

According to Gothberg, NewsRx won in the category for the Internet's "Best Health Content." The judging criteria looked at how extensive, balanced, up-to-date, well-organized, and credible the information presented is.

NewsRx is in its twentieth year as a medical news network and publisher of life science databases and periodicals.

The company produces over 1,000 medical news articles weekly in 45 print and electronic titles. NewsRx content is distributed by major news organizations, including Factiva, a Dow Jones and Reuters company; LexisNexis, a division of Reed Elsevier; Dialog, NewsEdge, and Westlaw, all Thomson businesses; EBSCO Publishing; ProQuest; and Pinnacor-MarketWatch. com.

Winners of the eHealthcare Leadership Awards represented 17 industry classifications, from hospitals and health systems to pharmaceutical firms and online health companies. Among other award winners were: Merck & Co., Mayo Clinic, Aetna, Roche Diagnostics, Kaiser Permanente, American Academy of Family Physicians, Schering-Plough, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, National Cancer Institute, and Humana.
