Bala Cynwyd, PA - November 9, 2001 - ATX (Nasdaq: COMM), a leading integrated communications provider with approximately 40,000 business customers and 400,000 consumer subscribers, has recently launched its suite of Managed Services products. These solutions will be bundled with traditional voice and data products and are designed to increase network performance and availability while in many cases cutting IT Staffing costs for ATX customers.

The four main product areas are Managed Security Solutions, Managed WANs, Managed Web Hosting, and Hosted Microsoft Exchange. Managed Security will include firewalls, intrusion detection, content filtering and virus protection and will also offer a Managed VPN option. Managed WAN Services will include router-to-router monitoring and management for Frame Relay and Private Line customers ensuring 100% uptime. Managed Hosting will leverage ATX's e. Business Data Centers by bundling web server hardware, security, high availability and load balancing with ongoing support and administration. The Hosted Microsoft Exchange service offers Microsoft's industry leading messaging and collaboration package without the need to deploy onsite hardware, software and application support.

All Managed Services are provided with ATX's expertise in 24X7 network monitoring, customer support, fault resolution and remote administration. Further, all services will be offered to new and existing customers nationwide, and have been designed to complement ATX's current portfolio, which includes voice, data, and Internet solutions.

"This direction moves us further along in our product evolution and meets substantial customer needs by adding significant value and the ability to streamline costs," states Guy Fardone, Vice President, Network Services at ATX. "By leveraging our five-year history as an ISP, data provider and Network Integrator, combined with two key partnerships with Cisco Systems and Microsoft, we can deliver unparalleled network performance, availability, security and applications to our customers, while enabling them to concentrate on their core business functions."

The customer benefits to having ATX handle these services include specified performance enhancements such as service-level agreements and management, access to technical expertise, time to deploy and the ability of the company to focus on its core business while having the confidence to rely on an experienced, trusted partner. In many cases, there will also be reduced IT operating expenses. Because of ATX's highly trained Engineering staff being involved in the service implementation and administration, not only will customers be able to focus on more important company issues, but will also be able to effectively augment their own organizations' IT staff without extra overhead.

ATX will be providing and supervising its Managed Services through its new Presidential Command Center, a state-of-the-art network monitoring facility that gives ATX vision throughout its entire network down to customers' onsite routers, firewalls and other CPE, including network health, performance and availability. With the ability to remotely administer customers' onsite CPS, ATX will avoid dispatching technicians for fault resolution, as well as expedite customer solutions including increasing bandwidth or integrating with other services.

ATX has already secured several sizeable agreements with various customers for Managed Services, ranging from regional IT organizations to notable firms within the legal industry. Although ATX has previously offered some level of managed services for the past four years, ATX is formally launching the Managed Services products to augment and enhance the services available to its entire nationwide customer base.
