Balancing and Harmonizing Brain Functions for Health and Optimization
Cutting edge technology provides the latest advancement in the field of neurofeedback, offering a drug free way to train the brain to better handle the level of stimulation in today's modern life. As science advances, more attention is focusing on the brain and how it controls our mid, body and nervous systems and why it sometimes needs some help in self regulation. From children with ADD, corporate executives who want to perform better with less stress, post partum depression and simply a better golf swing, neurofeedback is providing more evidence that it can train the brain for the desired result.

Brain Harmonizer LLC, (www. brainharmonizer. com), powered by Brain State Technologies™, has now opened its doors to the Sacramento community. This cutting edge technology is the latest advancement in the field of neurofeedback, offering a drug-free way to train the brain to better handle the amount of stimulation in today's modern life. By lowering the amounts of certain frequencies in the brain while encouraging others, the brain's frequency activity becomes balanced, allowing us to live without extra, often prohibitive activity which helps produce a clear and focused mind, enthusiasm, an enhanced sense of general well-being, and an ability to be the person we know we are, rather than living with a chronic sense of anxiety and fear.
Unlike earlier models of neurofeedback, BST™ uses a ratio-based model. This means that as the brain's activity is assessed, instead of comparing an individual's brain functioning to an external, standardized 'norm', the computer software takes into account the brain as a whole and the ratios between the individual's own areas of function i. e. alpha - theta ratios in the frontal lobes compared to the temporal lobes. This allows the BST™ software to produce a unique training regimen of several protocols tailored to an individual's needs.
As technology advances, science is turning more and more to the exploration of the brain and what effects this central processing unit has over our mind, body, behavior and emotions. In the past two months alone national magazines such as The Economist, Scientific American Mind, and Time have all come out with articles turning to the brain for answers for improving human functioning and behavior. In the January 29, 2007 edition of Time magazine, in response to his recent research, neuroscientist Richard Davidson says, "…that we can think of emotions, moods and states such as compassion as trainable mental skills" (p. 79). With the high cost of pharmaceuticals these days, as well as unwanted side affects of drugs, brain conditioning is emerging as a likely alternative.
Brain Harmonizer LLC, an affiliate of Brain State Technologies™ is now offering this service to Sacramento. After receiving training in Scottsdale, Arizona with the software's designer Lee Gerdes and becoming a licensee of the technology, Scott Meredith, owner of Brain Harmonizer is optimistic. Meredith first opened Brain Harmonizer's doors in Sedona, Arizona where he was booked from day one. After only a few months the decision was made to move the office to Sacramento to act as more of a central home-base. As the business is picking up speed, Meredith has plans to open multiple offices in Sacramento, as well as Vancouver, B. C. and other locations across Canada. "I think we have a lot to offer the community here," says Meredith, "this is really such an invaluable service as it has so many applications from dealing with issues to peak performance. If you think about it, humans are currently only operating on about 3% of their brain's capacity. If you could increase a person's brain capabilities even 1%, that's a 25% increase - you'd be amazed what 1% could do."
As neurofeedback has proven itself in significantly helping with ADD/ADHD and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (among other things), Meredith is eager to start working with teens in the community to increase educational performance, and interest, in school, as well as talking to the Sacramento police force in helping to alleviate some of the stressful effects of working out in the field. "I think weunderestimate the effects that every-day life has on creating imbalance in the brain. Teens have a lot of stress and stimuli to negotiate and I think Brain State Conditioning™ could really help put them on top of their game again."
Brain Harmonizer is one of many affiliates of Brain State Technologies™ and is located at 4801 J Street, Suite C in East Sacramento, CA 95819. Their hours are 8am -8pm Mon.-Fri. and 8am-1pm on Saturday. They can be reached at 916-451-7227, or on the web at www. brainharmonizer. com
