Meet the Nominees for Tucson's Women Business Owner of the Year - Lauri Privett

The 2006 Tucson Women Business Owner Awards celebrate excellence in action

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) February 9, 2006

Lauri Privett is owner of Personally Delivered Home Health and Incontinence Products, a provider of incontinence and home health products, nutritional and skin care products as well as personal care items and equipment.

Lauri considers herself a Tucson native although she was actually born in New York City. She has spent over 40 years as a Tucson resident and has attended Rincon High School. She moved to New York when her parents, Tucson talk show hosts, Betty and Bob Lewis, syndicated their program nationally. Lauri graduated from Glen Cove High School in NY and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She then returned to Tucson and later opened Children’s Fair, a discount children’s clothing store.

Later, Lauri became the tournament coordinator for The Michael Landon Celebrity Tennis Classic, and remained on their board for the next decade. In 1986, Lauri took the helm as Executive Director of the Educational Enrichment Foundation -- creating and sponsoring programs for the Tucson Unified School District for over eleven and a half years. She instituted many new programs and sources of revenue including securing an Americorps grant to teach computer skills to at-risk students and also a 1.2 million dollar grant from DeWitt Wallace Reader’s Digest Fund to improve education at 24 TUSD schools. In 1999, while free-lance consulting for organizations needing training in Grass Roots fundraising, Lauri saw an episode of 60 Minutes on “Aging in America”. The report concluded that by the year 2020, over 1 million Americans will be over the age of 100! With a good idea and very little capital, but a firm belief in the opportunity, Personally Delivered Home Health and Incontinence Products was born! Seven years later, she has created a new model of doing business. Lauri believes customer education and a high level of personal service helps clients and their families deal with caring for the elderly and developmentally disabled in a discreet and dignified manner.

Given the steady growth of the company, Lauri’s husband Tom and son Damian have changed their careers to join the family business. Lauri has won the Home Based Business of the Year Award from the Small Business Development Council (Tucson Chamber of Commerce & GTEC in 2002) and the Arizona Small Business Association, “Building a Better Business award in 2005 for outstanding Customer service. She was earlier honored as the Seroptomist Woman of Distinction in 1997.

Reflecting her broad range of interests, Ms. Privett has served on many Boards of Directors including The Tucson Classics, Sporting Chance, and the Public Education Network in Washington D. C.

Lauri has 2 grown children, Damian Enderle and Danica Stanek and four grandchildren all four years old & under. Tom & Lauri have recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. She is currently a member of Council on Adult Care Homes, Arizona Small Business Assoc., Public Education Network, & THE DDD Training Blitz Committee.

Lauri is looking at the possibility of franchising her thriving company. She currently works at her home office -- usually 7 days a week. On weekends along with answering phones and emails from internet & local customers, she promotes and supports her husband’s classic rock band “Undercover”, She also continues to raise money for projects like the TUSD Clothing Bank and The DDD Training Blitz when time allows.

Personally Delivered received the Building a Better Business Award from Arizona Small Business Association in the Customer Service category in 2005 and was featured in CEO Toolkit, a magazine resource guide for small businesses.
