What do Female Entrepreneurs want?
This important question was recently asked by Yvonne Brown of JAD Communications International and Jennifer Wright of Midlife Heroines. Women are the driving force behind new business growth in the United States. Who are the women doing this and why? Women of all ages are sending a message to their employers by walking away from corporate life. Recent studies show that younger women are choosing to work from home to ensure they have a quality of life with their children. Midlife women are heeding their own wake up call to answer an inner passion to “do their own thing” before it is too late.

Yvonne and Jennifer, entrepreneurs themselves, and coaches for women, decided to find out what this target market truly wants. These two entrepreneurs aim to find ways to better serve women by going to the source (the women) and asking them directly. As a preliminary, they went to a 100 women sample. Here are some of the results: The majority of women felt their biggest success came from the use of technology and navigating systems.
Overwhelmingly family responsibilities, lack of focus, time management and time constraints were the barriers to a majority of women’s businesses. What did women say they wanted? Women expressed various needs including ways to find balance, to understand about the financial side of business, to become more confident. This supports various other research that indicate compared to men, women lack confidence in business.
Yvonne and Jennifer have decided to extend their survey beyond this preliminary sample group and are extending it until April 28th, 2006. To help sweeten the pot, they are offering two fantastic prizes for two lucky women who complete the survey. If you are a woman and wish to take the survey visit http://tinyurl. com/emuxx (http://tinyurl. com/emuxx). Winners will be notified after the survey is completed.
