Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 18, 2011 -

Urban Design Group is participating in the Furniture for Kids (F4K) design competition. The annual event is the brainchild of OFS Brands in partnership with G. L. Seman & Company. For the F4K event, Urban Design Group customized two rocking chairs with a Texas-inspired “Cowboy Up” theme. F4K will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm at OFS Brands Showroom located at 1510 Turtle Creek Blvd, Suite 207, Dallas TX 75207. The F4K event includes a rocking chair design competition, silent auction and raffle items with a “Live Like a Rock-Star” grand prize (limited to 200 chances) that includes two tickets to a Lady Gaga concert, dinner, hotel and limo service. The F4K event will also feature food and beverages, music by “Stan Halen” (an 80’s tribute band) and opportunities to meet Dallas Maverick celebrity personalities.

For the 2011 competition, twenty-nine Dallas and Fort Worth design and creative firms are customizing rocking chairs. The designs will be exhibited, judged and put up for auction. The proceeds benefit the Dallas Mavericks Foundation a nonprofit group that assists young people through programs promoting education, good health and skills necessary for future success. The year, F4K is also partnering with the Dallas and Fort Worth Ronald McDonald Houses to donate furniture to help families of critically ill children.

Urban Design Group’s “Cowboy Up” rockers were inspired by old time western movies and the depiction of Texan culture. The firm created a child-size rocking horse and an adult-size rocking cowboy boot for the competition. The team also created a poem to accompany their whimsical rockers:

Ah rock’en in the saddle,
On ah cayuse he called Paint.
Ah chas’en longhorn cattle,
Jus’ to make them critters faint.

But, his ride ah clearly end’en,
As ol Paint began to slow.
And, his thirst ah need’n tend’en,
So he had one place to go.

“Ah’m buy’en all the drinks,” he roared,
“For all who’ll Cowboy Up!”
So, it was for his the barkeep poured,
Into a sippy cup!

The barkeep smiled as barkeeps do,
When he climbed into her lap.
For mommy’s little buckaroo,
Was ready for his nap!
