Requests for Attorney Referrals Spike, as do Calls for Information about Support Groups
This release shares details about spikes in the number of requests that LifeCare, Inc. is receiving for attorney referrals and information about support groups. LifeCare's CEO says the trends are largely a result of the financial challenges that people face.
Shelton, CT (PRWEB) May 12, 2009
LifeCare® (http://www. lifecare. com/), Inc., a leading provider of health and productivity solutions for employers nationwide, said that its Call Center is answering a substantially higher volume of telephone calls for legal guidance and information -- and specifically for referrals to divorce attorneys. During the month of March alone, LifeCare handled more than 1,900 requests for attorney referrals, a significant number of which were related to information about divorce attorneys. The company also is reporting a 60% increase in requests for information about support groups that help with work and family issues.
What forces are driving these trends? LifeCare CEO, Peter G. Burki, says the number one force is finances. "Our Call Center Specialists always ask callers to specify the reasons they've reached out to us, and in well over half of the cases related to divorce attorneys and support groups finances are a factor. When people are stressed about their finances, the impacts can be devastating and far reaching."
Burki says that financial stressors have been building steadily among working families since early 2008. In fact, the number of finance-related cases that LifeCare handled doubled from 2007 to 2008. He also cites an online poll the company conducted in July of 2008 asking individuals to specify the issues that are negatively impacting their health. While "lack of exercise" was their top response (24%), their second leading response was "stress about finances" (22%).
LifeCare provides a wide range of financial and legal resources to its clients, including access to financial and legal counselors, an online library of educational materials, and an enhanced bundle of financial and legal services that provide more in-depth consultation and educational materials. One of the most popular resources the company provides is its financial planning seminars, which include a new series of 15 seminars created exclusively for LifeCare by Jean Chatzky, award-winning journalist and financial editor for NBC's Today show. The seminars have been so popular, in fact, that nearly 600 people attended them in the first three months.
LifeCare also is delivering four online financial webinars per month. While the company originally planned to cap attendance at 50 individuals per webinar, the demand was so great that it has extended participation to 100 people per webinar.
