These senior level staffers bring a wealth of experience from the commercial supporter, institutional, and clinical areas of medical education:
Karen Matthias, RN, MBA - As Director, Market & Product Development, Karen provides strategic analysis and direction for existing and new markets. She brings a unique combination of clinical and marketing experience to this position, having achieved a combined 15 years of healthcare marketing with emphasis on new product development and market introductions at Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories, Cardinal Health, and Parke-Davis. Her diverse background also includes neuroscience ICU nursing as well as clinical management of patients at the Medical College of Wisconsin neurology clinics. Karen operates out of CME Outfitters' Midwest offices in Columbus, Ohio.
Jill Shuman, MS, ELS - In her role as Medical Writer for the CME Outfitters Medical Resources Group, Jill brings more than 25 years of experience as a health and science writer/editor. She holds faculty appointments at the Tufts University School of Medicine where she teaches courses related to responsible health reporting and risk communication. She is certified as an Editor, Life Sciences (ELS) and is a Fellow of the American Medical Writers Association. Jill is also the recipient of several national awards for medical writing and news reporting. The author of numerous journal articles and book chapters, she is a frequent guest lecturer on topics associated with the communication of health, medicine, and science. Jill works in CME Outfitters' Boston office.
Diane Cleverley, PhD - As Medical Director, Diane brings 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and as a professional writer and program director. Her most recent appointment was at Excerpta Medica, a division of Reed Elsevier, where as Medical Director, she managed medical writers, edited projects for scientific and medical accuracy, developed roundtable forums for exploration and feedback of cutting-edge product data by experts in the field, created and implemented large multi-indication, international strategic communication plans, and performed gap and literature analyses. Diane's extensive list of therapeutic areas includes the therapeutic areas of psychiatry, psychology, cardiology, pain management, neurology, anti-infectives, diabetes, and oncology. She has also completed two NIH Traineeships, one in molecular biophysics and the other in viral host cell interactions. As part of the Medical Resources Group, Diane is responsible for partner relationships, the CMEO slide library, research, outcomes development, and compliance efforts. Diane works in CME Outfitters' New Jersey office.
Jennifer Dierkes, RN, BSN - As Manager, Medical Resources Group, Jennifer brings over 10 years of experience in the clinical and research areas of the neurosciences. Most recently she was a Neuroscience Institutional Specialist with Novartis Pharmaceuticals. She has successfully managed the development and publication of abstracts, posters, and original manuscripts. Her broad responsibilities in the Medical Resources Group include client services, outcomes measurement, and compliance efforts. Jennifer works in CME Outfitters' Midwest offices.
