Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) July 16, 2005

The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) will introduce Guia para el Certified Pool-Spa Operator®, the Spanish translation of its highly successful Certified Pool-Spa Operator® Handbook, at the World Aquatic Health™ Conference, September 19-21, City of Industry, California.

The new Guia para el Certified Pool-Spa Operator® is the only instruction book that offers a fundamental training and reference manual for Spanish-speaking pool and spa professionals. "There are thousands of pool and spa professionals whose first language is Spanish," explains Tom Lachocki, chief executive officer of NSPF®. This newly-translated manual will allow easier access to important information for these professionals whose job it is to reduce risks in and around the water.” The Spanish translation will supplement the 2006 edition of the Certified Pool-Spa Operator® Handbook, which will be available in January 2006.

As does the English version, this translated handbook educates pool and spa operators on how to reduce risks in and around the water. The handbook includes valuable information on understanding and preventing drowning, suction entrapment, evisceration, diving accidents, recreational water illness, electrocutions, chemical hazards, and slips and falls. It also includes updated information on regulatory agencies and guidelines, disinfection, water balance, water problems, troubleshooting, chemical testing and record keeping, and chemical feed and control technology.

"We are indebted to our translator and to several Spanish-speaking pool and spa experts who helped ensure the translation remains technically accurate," says Alex Antoniou, director of educational programs at NSPF®.

The Guia para el Certified Pool-Spa Operator® retains all the useful features of the English handbook.

Full color is prominent throughout to help students and instructors visualize important concepts.  The color-coded, numbered page edges make it easy to locate each chapter.  The newly-expanded keyword index and the comprehensive table of contents make it easy to find important topics.  Guides to simplify mathematics and calculations are included.

"Introducing the Guia para el Certified Pool-Spa Operator® demonstrates the exceptional leadership and commitment to the pool and spa industry that industry watchers have come to expect from the foundation," comments Bill Kent, NSPF® president. "The primary mission of the NSPF® is to promote aquatic education and research," adds Lachocki. "In the last two years, weÂ’ve introduced an updated, redesigned CPO® Handbook and released the first national pool inspector training program. The first World Aquatic Health™ Conference was so successful that over 100 people have already registered for the second conference scheduled for this September. These successes have allowed us to increase our grants budget by 40% to $500,000."

The Guia para el Certified Pool-Spa Operator® is available from NSPF® at a cost of $69.95 per book (plus $5 shipping and handling). All CPO® Handbooks may be ordered by downloading the NSPF® Order Form at www. nspf. org. Payment may be by check, money order, or Visa/MasterCard/American Express.
