South Shore Elder Services Spotlights a Special Sponsor Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company

South Shore Elder Services of Braintree, Mass., would like to spotlight Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company, whose ongoing financial and volunteer support enables the agency to help many frail elders in need.

Braintree / Quincy, MA (PRWEB) June 29, 2005

South Shore Elder Services, a private, non-profit agency that provides seniors and caregivers in the South Shore area with valuable resources and services, depends upon the good will of sponsors for financial assistance as well as helping hands. In light of this, South Shore Elder would like to spotlight Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company, whose ongoing financial and volunteer support enables the agency to help many frail elders in need.

Although South Shore Elder Services is supported in part by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, which includes funds from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Title III of the Older American Act, Quincy MutualÂ’s corporate donations, coupled with private donations from senior executives, are applied directly to the purchase of goods and services for seniors. These donations provide frail elders with everyday necessities of life such as food, clothing, shoes, fuel, medicine and shelter.

As Tom Harris, Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Quincy Mutual noted, “We believe our community is better off with senior citizens well cared for.”

South Shore Elder Services has also had the pleasure of working with volunteers Claudia Sorgi, wife of Quincy MutualÂ’s president Doug Briggs and Cheryl Harris, the wife of Tom Harris. Claudia has been delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors for 12 years, and Cheryl has been volunteering for eight years, delivering Meals on Wheels for five years and serving as an auditor for South Shore ElderÂ’s Money Management program for the past three years.

“We’re very fortunate, and grateful, to receive such generous donations from Quincy Mutual. With their financial support and with the tireless dedication of Claudia and Cheryl, we’re able provide the much needed assistance to elders in our community,” noted Ed Flynn, Director of South Shore Elder Services.

Grants and other financial support from partners such as Quincy Mutual ensure continuity of South Shore Elder programs such as Meals on Wheels, lunch and transportation programs, health screenings and social and educational programs for elders.

South Shore Elder Services gladly accepts donations from individuals in the community. For more information, contact Diane Sargent at South Shore Elder Services, (781) 848-3910.

As one of 27 Aging Services Access Points in Massachusetts, South Shore Elder Services coordinates and provide a wide range of services to elders and caregivers throughout Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate and Weymouth. The agencyÂ’s mission is to promote and maintain an optimal level of elder independence through the coordination of resources, advocacy and caregiver support.
