Challenge The Obesity Epidemic, And Get Active America!

Free Workouts at Ladies Workout Express to Help West Hempstead Residents Begin a Fitness Routine

West Hempstead, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2006

It’s a fact – Americans are the most overweight population in the world, and many people are looking for a solution. Nearly two-thirds of U. S. adults are overweight, and nearly one-third of all Americans are obese. A change is necessary. That’s why Ladies Workout Express, along with other members of the nonprofit International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), will open its doors free to the public the weekend of May 15-21, 2006 as part of the nationwide Get Active America! campaign.

2006 marks the third year of the campaign, again offering Americans of all ages a “first step” opportunity to begin an exercise program in a safe, supportive environment. During 2005’s program, more than 170,000 Americans participated in Get Active America!, taking their first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

“Many Americans don’t realize that in addition to helping to control weight, physical activity decreases the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and reduces the risk of developing diabetes, hypertension and colon cancer,” said John McCarthy, executive director of IHRSA. “The health club industry is dedicated to helping make exercise fun and accessible to all Americans.”

Get Active America! is one part of a continuous effort from the health club industry to change the direction of the nation’s health. This special Get Active America! weekend Open House will allow West Hempstead, Franklin Square, Garden City residents to take exercise classes and use the facilities at Ladies Workout Express free of charge. Current Ladies Workout Express members will also be invited to bring a friend or family member in for free the week of May 15-21, 2006.

“With obesity on the rise, we are proud to participate in such an encouraging program, and offer free workouts to those interested in beginning, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” said Vita Zorbo, Owner of Ladies Workout Express of West Hempstetad. During the Get Active America! Open House, Ladies Workout Express guests will be provided free access to the club’s trainers, state-of-the-art exercise equipment and an array of exercise classes. Visitors who would like to join Ladies Workout Express during Get Active America! week will benefit from our $0 Registration promotion.

In addition to Ladies Workout Express of West Hempstead, other IHRSA member health clubs nationwide will offer free workouts during Get Active America! week. A complete list of participating health club locations is available at www. getactiveamerica. com.
