NUBIAN HERITAGE VILLAGE CELEBRATES ITÂ’S COMING TO HARLEM WITH 40 DAYS OF PREVIEW ACTIVITIES BEGINNING NOVEMBER 24TH
Nubian Heritage Harlem will inaugurate the opening of its flagship in Harlem with a series of African themed preview events starting November 24th leading to the Grand Opening on December 18th.

New York, NY (November 17, 2003) Nubian Heritage Harlem will inaugurate the opening of its flagship location at 2037 Fifth Avenue @ 125th St with a series of African themed preview events beginning November 24th leading to the Grand Opening on December 18th. In the spirit of African traditions, Nubian Heritage welcomes neighboring businesses and the Harlem community to participate in 40 days of celebration and activities. Guests will sample products & services, experience great music, listen to poetry and tour the 22,000 sq ft. facility.
The new location will bring with it 80 new jobs and serve as an African cultural epicenter consisting of a full service luxury spa, café, art gallery, flower shop, wellness center, music and bookstore. The Shea Spa features a whirlpool, dry sauna, steam room, movement studio, sanctuary lounge, aromatherapy steam rinse in a hydro-shower and more. The Boma Café offers traditionally roasted African coffee blends from countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya and others. Housed within “The National Black Theatre” landmark building, the Nubian Heritage Village in Harlem looks to capture the richness of historic Harlem by showcasing the diversity and beauty of Africa through its customs and traditions.
The Elder Blessing and Award Ceremony will serve as the lead off event on Monday, November 24th four weeks prior to the official store opening. Shea Spa Director, Michelle Harper explains, “it is customary in African culture to seek permission from the elders before entering into new relationships.“ During the Blessing Ceremony, Nubian Heritage will present awards honoring community leaders whom have contributed to the livelihood of Harlem. The seven recipients will receive an award in recognition of his or her contribution to the community along with a special offering to commemorate the occasion. Other scheduled events will be the Merchant Gathering
Held on December 8th, a Village Gathering on December 11, the Insalamu will be held on December 13th followed by the Grand Opening on December 18th.
