The study evaluated how hospital web sites help to influence site visitors in selecting a facility to receive needed care. In the past, there has been no clear data on how a hospital web site impacts the patient decision making process. In this month's feature Webinar, Geonetric will reveal the results of the six-month research project. Highlighting the research from the studyÂs article, "Web Wellness," published in the June 2005 issue of Marketing Health Services, the Webinar will review the collaboration effort between Geonetric and Yale-New Haven Hospital, providing new insights into how hospital web sites impact patient health care decisions. ÂIt was very exciting to see how many potential patients Yale-New Haven Hospital is able to influence through their web site, said Ben Dillon, Vice President of Strategic Services at Geonetric and co-author of the article. ÂWe were pleasantly surprised to see the large number of visitors planning to use hospital services in the future.Â
The July Webinar will outline the research methodology used for the project as well as its findings, giving detailed results of the study and what it means for the development strategy of a hospital's web site. It will also show how a hospital website can be used to recruit new patients, since the study showed that over half of the visitors to Yale-New HavenÂs web site were not previous customers.
