FIFTY AND BEYOND: New Beginnings in Health and Well-Being

FIFTY AND BEYOND: New Beginnings in Health and Well-Being

(PRWEB) September 26, 2002

FIFTY AND BEYOND:

New Beginnings in Health and Well-Being

By Susanna Starr

This is where the rest of your life begins!

The generation that came of age in the 1960s and '70s is accustomed to living life to its fullest, and Susanna Starr's Fifty and Beyond: New Beginnings in Health and Well-Being (Paloma Blanca Press; Publication Date December 2002; $14.95) proves there's no reason for expectations to drop, just because the baby-boomers are turning fifty. An inspiring and practical guide to mid-life fitness and well-being, Fifty and Beyond offers clear and insightful suggestions for expanding the mind, caring for the body and celebrating the spirit.

According to the 2000 census, there are now 76.9 million Americans aged 50 and over, making this the fastest-growing age group in America.

"For so long, we've been occupied with educating ourselves, finding a job, establishing a career, raising a family, building a home, cultivating a life with all its responsibilities," writes Starr. "We've often left the introspective part of ourselves to simmer quietly on the back burner. Isn't it exciting to think of all that is opening up to us at this stage of our lives?"

Starr's shrewd reflections on the achievements of life so far, and her enthusiasm for the potential that still lies ahead, lead her to embrace subjects including quality of life, exercise, health, diet, weight issues, personal growth, creativity, sexuality and spirituality. She illustrates how even subtle shifts in attitude or behavior can have far-reaching benefits, and supports readers in progressing from wishful thinking to wish-fulfillment though a combination of warm pragmatism and gentle encouragement.

"We don't want to ever waste our time on 'should haves,'" writes Starr. "The 'I wish I had' can become 'Now I can.'"

Sprinkled with thought-provoking quotes, and culminating in a chapter of interviews celebrating the later lives of 'heroes and heroines' ranging from sculptor Ted Egri to former businesswoman Helen Abramowitz, Fifty and Beyond is a powerful tribute to the wisdom of age, and the rewards of living every year - and every minute - to the fullest.

"If we knew then what we know now we would have taken better care of ourselves.

Time to read this book and start!"

-Graham Nash, musician (The Hollies/Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young)

"No one has ever made growing older sound more enticing than Susanna Starr.. While blessedly devoid of prescriptive "must-dos", Susanna's book reminds us all that it's never too late to explore, expand, and celebrate who we truly are."

-Linda Sparrowe, author of A Woman's Book of Yoga and Health

"I highly recommend this book to anyone who is willing to open their minds and their hearts to new life-long possibilities."

-Nancy King, Ph. D., author, Giving Form to Feeling

HD Communications Corp. Introduces an In-Wall Wi-Fi, Data, and VoIP Device

Today at the INTERNET TELEPHONY CONFERENCE & EXPO at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida, HD Communications Corp. unveiled its new In-Wall Wi-Fi, Data, VoIP, and PoE device the HD27000. An all-in-one data port designed specifically for hotels, motels and the enterprise market.

Ronkonkoma, N. Y. (PRWEB) February 2, 2009

HD Communications Corp., a leading wireless electronics company, unveiled today its new In-Wall Wi-Fi, Data, VoIP, and PoE device at the INTERNET TELEPHONY CONFERENCE & EXPO at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The HD27000 is an all-in-one device designed specifically for hotels, motels and the enterprise market. "We listened to our customers and simply gave them what they wanted," said Don Davis, President and CEO. "Hotels, motels and businesses require good Wi-Fi, a wired ethernet connection, good Internet security, and the ability to plug in a VoIP phone as well as power it. The HD27000 does it all in one clean package," Davis added. The HD27000 is a small, PoE-powered 802.11b/g access point that is IEEE> 802.3af PoE-compliant and is designed for locations wired for Category5/Cat5e/Cat6 cable or planning to wire for Ethernet cable. The hotel, motel and enterprise markets seem to be perfect customers for this product.

The HD27000 is an 802.11b/g wireless access point with multiple SSID's so customers can set up both public and private networks. The device also has an RJ45 jack on the front that is PoE (IEEE 802.3af-compliant) that can power a VoIP phone or just provide a data port to the location. The device has the latest in security available and is powered via Cat5 cable that feeds into the back of the HD27000. All of these features are contained in a device that fits into a single gang electrical box. "The HD27000 is a result of over two years of working with customers with our earlier in-wall product, the HD24613, which has been installed in thousands of locations around the world. Customers always want more and we try to accommodate as much as we can," Davis stated. The VoIP industry is certainly an area destined for growth as large enterprises look to reduce their monthly costs. HD Communications Corp. seems to be following that trend and continues to introduce cost-saving products. Last month they introduced the HD26172, a wireless bridge solution to connect the wired network between two buildings so companies could eliminate a T-1 or T-3 connection. When asked if this is the new direction the company is going, introducing cost-saving devices, Davis added, "We are living in challenging times and we, as a company, need to listen carefully to our customers. If you can bring more features to a customer and additionally lower their overall costs, everybody wins."

HD Communications Corp. has had tremendous growth in the broadband wireless arena over the past few years, more than doubling their sales in 2008. As they continue to pursue new markets and introduce new products they hope to continue to grow despite the ailing economy.

Customers and installers interested in learning more about the HD27000 should contact Eric Olson at their corporate office; (888) 588-3800 ext.126, or (631) 588-3877 ext. 126.

Assessio Americas Launches Next Level of Award Winning ServiceFirst

Assessio Americas Launches Next Level of Award Winning ServiceFirst

Long-time Bay Area assessment organization rebrands corporate name and image, releases product upgrade

Pleasant Hill, CA (PRWEB) January 28, 2010

New in 2010, Assessio Americas, the company formerly known as People Focus, announces the release of the ServiceFirst Premium Report. In conjunction with this premium product upgrade, the company launched their new website at assessio. us (http://www. assessio. us).

ServiceFirst (http://www. assessio. us/assess_service. php) is a scientifically proven predictor of four established components of customer service: Active Service; Helpful Service; Polite Service & Personalized Service. This test has been used by call centers around the world, and has been marketed under private label agreements by many human resources consulting firms.

Building on the strong predictive foundation of the original ServiceFirst test, integrated with customer service development tools and techniques from Assessio’s Service Excellence program, ServiceFirst Premium Reports are now a more powerful, effective talent measurement tool. Standard ServiceFirst Interpretive Guides are designed to be used primarily as a pre-employment screen for job applicants. ServiceFirst Premium Reports can be used with current customer service representatives as well as prospective employees and offer targeted customer service development guidance.

ServiceFirst Premium Reports have two components, a Managers Guide for hiring and coaching, and an Individual Guide for personal insight and development. The Managers Guide includes tailored interview questions based on results, behavior-based rating guidelines, and specific coaching/development recommendations. Similarly, the ServiceFirst Individual Guide summarizes the individual results, and includes tools and techniques to help participants target their development to provide excellent customer service. Together, the ServiceFirst Premium Reports help managers make better decisions about people and dramatically speed the customer service employee’s time to productivity.

Companies using ServiceFirst assessments to support customer service development initiatives are realizing a clear value. For example, a Food and Drug retail company saw same store sales increase 8.6% as compared with an industry average of 1.7% over two years after implementing ServiceFirst along with Assessio’s Service Excellence program. Similarly, a national restaurant chain saw a 37% across the board improvement in customer service scores as rated by a mystery shopper program after implementing ServiceFirst along with Assessio supported development activities. By integrating ServiceFirst assessment insights with customer service development, the ServiceFirst Premium Reports provide a single solution that will help organizations drive strong business results.
