Despite Research on Gum Disease Prevention, Treatment is Still a Priority

Despite Research on Gum Disease Prevention, Treatment is Still a Priority

Recent news of a connection between omega-3's and gum disease has made Dr. Alex Farnoosh emphasize gum disease prevention with proper dental care and effective treatment for his Los Angeles area patients.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) December 16, 2010

In spite of encouraging news about a link between gum disease prevention and the intake of omega 3's that was published recently in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Dr. Alex Farnoosh (http://www. thetotalsmile. com) says the priority at his practice remains gum disease treatment. Dr. Farnoosh is passionate about the science of dental care. As a cosmetic dentist and periodontist, his focus is on improving aesthetics and protecting health.

"Even though new strategies like increasing omega-3 intake are encouraging, we haven't found a way to prevent gum disease completely," says Dr. Farnoosh. "The reality today is that the majority of my patients have some form of gum disease and they need treatment. That's why I continue to refine techniques for gum surgery and laser dentistry."

The consequences of gum disease are far-reaching. In fact, periodontal disease is a risk factor for many diseases and conditions such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, and even pancreatic cancer. Given these significant consequences, early treatment of gum disease is imperative.

"Gum disease is treated in several ways," says Dr. Farnoosh. "I usually begin with general debridement and cleaning in conjunction with the use of an antimicrobal agent under the gum tissue to eradicate or minimize the bacteria. In some cases, I utilize a laser technique to remove diseased infected tissue. I work with each patient to find a solution that fits their needs."

Dr. Farnoosh also shares things patients can do themselves to help minimize the risk of gum disease. Most importantly, he says, they should be diligent about their oral hygiene. That includes thorough twice-daily brushing and flossing, as well as routine cleaning and check-ups. People should also avoid smoking and eat a healthy diet – as he points out, these things are important for overall health, not just periodontal health.

"In addition to caring for their teeth and gums, people should be looking carefully for the signs of gum disease," Dr. Farnoosh says. "It is often asymptomatic, but there are usually indications. For example, if patients have red, swollen, and tender gums; gums that bleed; gums that have pulled away from teeth; and persistent bad breath; they may need to visit their dentist. Even if they do not have gum disease, these symptoms could indicate another problem."

Dr. Farnoosh is a renowned leader and innovator in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Men and women from all over the world visit his practice for quality care and impressive results. Some of his more popular procedures include lip lowering to treat gummy smile, gum bleaching to treat dark or pigmented gums, dental implants, tooth whitening, gum contouring, as well as gum and bone grafting.

"My approach to dentistry is multi-faceted," explains Dr. Farnoosh. "I don't think you can discuss treatment without prevention. Similarly, I don't think you can improve aesthetics without improving function. I talk a great deal about 'the total smile.' It's a concept that is truly at the heart of my practice. I address the entire mouth for a smile that is healthy and vibrant."

Dr. Alex Farnoosh (http://www. thetotalsmile. com) is a periodontist / dentist in Beverly Hills whose cosmetic dentistry practice offers very unique procedures like lip lowering to treat "gummy smile," gum bleaching to treat dark/pigmented, gum/bone grafting, and dental implants. His patients come from the Los Angeles area and all over the United States and the world. Dr. Farnoosh has published over 40 articles and performed research on cosmetic dentistry. He is the inventor of a patented method to treat discolored gums.

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Unveils The Club at Malibu Boys and Girls Club Courtesy of $100,000 Donation from Chris, Pax Prentiss

Approximately 200 attendees celebrated the opening of The Club, a new Malibu Boys and Girls Club facility, funded by a $100,000 donation by Chris and Pax Prentiss, co-founders of Passages Addiction Cure Center.

Malibu, CA (PRWEB) December 11, 2007

Friday the 30th of November marked the inauguration of The Club, a new Malibu Boys and Girls Club building, constructed this summer with a $100,000 donation from Chris and Pax Prentiss, co-founders and co-directors of Passages Addiction Cure Center in Malibu, California. The Club's special VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony was a success, with approximately two hundred people in attendance to witness the dedication of the new facility.

Attendees also enjoyed a teen fashion show, coached and hosted by Cindy Crawford, which added to the celebration of the new facility, and encouraged the collection of gift certificates from clothing stores to aid fire victims. A collection site was set up in the tent, in addition to a runway and music.

The Malibu Teen Center provides a home away from home for teens, serving as many as 400 students per day. Bursting at its seams and needing more space to accommodate capacity, its President, Danny Stern, approached Chris and Pax Prentiss, founding father and son team of Passages, a local drug rehab (http://www. passagesmalibu. com/drug-rehabilitation. html) center, for a donation to fund the construction of a new wing for the facility.

After agreeing to support the Malibu Teen Center (http://www. bgcmalibu. org/) by donating funds for The Club, construction began. Chris Prentiss said at the opening, "The Malibu Teen Center is the heartbeat of Malibu, and we know that the time to create a happy, healthy lifestyle, free of drugs, alcohol and addictive behavior is during the teen years."

He continued, "Pax and I are honored to be able to participate in providing a place for our teens to gather in a home away from home where they will find the right morals, the right ethics, the right friends and the right way of living that will see them safely through life's trials. To see and feel the energy of those kids and their parents at the ribbon-cutting ceremony was a treat and a reward to last a lifetime."

Cindy and Chris cut the ribbon together, officially opening the new center to great applause and cheering.

Passages Addiction Cure Center is a breakthrough California drug rehab (http://www. passagesmalibu. com/drug-rehabilitation. html) and Alcohol rehab (http://www. passagesmalibu. com/alcohol-rehabilitation. html) in Malibu with an astonishing cure rate of 84.4%, the highest of any treatment center in the world. British Office Workers are Suffering from the “David Brent Effect” According to New Research

British Office Workers are Suffering from the “David Brent Effect” According to New Research

More than 63 per cent of Brits reckon they could be doing better in their career. And a quarter of the workforce blames David Brent style bosses, saying they get no support when it comes to training and career development. Employees say their Brent bosses are holding them back by failing to recognize and nurture their potential.

(PRWEB) May 19, 2005

The survey of 3,000 UK employees by online learning specialist, SkillSoft, also found that women are far more likely to feel valued by their employers - 61.5 per cent against 49 per cent of men.

People who work in public services get the most encouragement from bosses – 66 per cent say their employers are happy for them to develop their skills compared to 56 per cent of people working for private firms.

Workers in public services also receive more opportunities for on-the-job training - 40 per cent say they get formal training and mentoring while just 31 per cent in private firms receive the same level of support.

Kevin Young, managing director of SkillSoft, said: "It's evident from this study that a large number of people are not being given the opportunity to live up to their potential at work; particularly in the private sector.

"Just consider the productivity gains that could be achieved if UK businesses stepped up their commitment to developing their employees' skills."

64 per cent of those questioned say their employer allows them no time in the working day for their professional development.

And 89 per cent of workers would prefer to be in control of their own learning.

Kevin Young said: "This is in line with some research we did last year amongst employees already using e-learning, the majority of whom were taking control of their own professional development by accessing online learning in the office before or after work, or at home in the evenings and at weekends.

"The effect on their jobs was evident; nearly everyone interviewed could give practical examples of how they had applied their new knowledge at work."

This latest study shows that 53 per cent already willingly spend their own free time on professional development.

But this figure could be much higher – many workers say they’d spend their spare time studying if their bosses allowed them time to learn in the office as well.

Almost half (43 per cent) of employees reckon they need to spend just 2-4 hours a week on training to achieve their full potential.

When asked what sort of training they needed, 45 per cent said they would like more training in communications and customer relations skills and 50 per cent wanted more management and leadership skills training.

Unsurprisingly, most workers think they should be paid more - 67.5 per cent say they deserve bigger pay packets.

But despite this, the majority of Brits enjoy their work - 43 per cent say they get some pleasure from their work and 40 per cent go as far as to say they enjoy their jobs "a lot."

Only 10 per cent said they don't enjoy their job at all.

Notes to editors

The survey was undertaken by SWNA on behalf of SkillSoft and took place online over a two week period during April 2005. Over 3,000 UK employees across a wide range of industries responded. 57 per cent were from the public sector and 43 per cent from the private sector. The full findings and statistics highlighting the differences between the public and private sectors are available on request from Louise Jaggs at louise@textontap. com (01242 257770 or 07712 011246).

Introducing Hovid E-8 the First Complete Vitamin E in Malaysia

Introducing Hovid E-8 the First Complete Vitamin E in Malaysia

Get the benefits of a Full Spectrum Vitamin E as Found in Nature

(PRWEB) April 28, 2005

Hovid E-8 is the first Vitamin E supplement in Malaysia to have a full range of natural mixed tocopherols (α, β, γ and δ) and natural mixed tocotrienols (α, β, γ and δ) that form a complete vitamin E, just as found naturally in palm oil, soybean, wheat germ, oats and other foods rich in Vitamin E.

The majority of products currently available in Malaysia contain only one form of the eight vitamin E molecules, namely α-tocopherol.

Hovid E-8 contains tocotrienol, a potent form of natural Vitamin E. Research shows that α-tocotrienol is 40-60 times more potent than α-tocopherol as an antioxidant. Tocotrienols have been shown to possess anti-cancer, neuroprotective and anti-aging properties, which are not found in tocopherols.

Each individual vitamin E molecule has a part to play in maintaining health and well-being. An ideal Vitamin E can be likened to an orchestra rather than a soloist – both tocotrienol and tocopherol need to be taken together for fuller health benefits. Get Hovid E-8 to experience the full symphony of Vitamin E’s health benefits.

Hovid E-8 complete Vitamin E supplements retail at RM69.90 for 60 softgel caps and can be found at all leading pharmacies nationwide. For more information please call 1-800-88-2228 or visit www. tocotrienol. org.

PharmMall Launches Online Pharmacy for Prescription Medications

PharmMall Launches Online Pharmacy for Prescription Medications

No prior prescription is required to order brand-name prescription medications for anxiety, weight loss and others disorders.

(PRWEB) February 15, 2005

PharmMall announces the launch of their new online pharmacy website available at http://cpanel5.amihost. com/~pre111/index. html (http://cpanel5.amihost. com/~pre111/index. html)
With prescription medications for anxiety disorders, pain relief, sleep aids and menÂ’s health. Large selections of weight loss drugs are also available including Phentermine, one of the industryÂ’s largest sellers.

With the obesity epidemic at unprecedented proportions, America's love of excess is coming home to roost in the form of a dramatic increase not only in obesity but diet related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, even cancer. In response to this, physicians, researchers, health professionals, prescription medication companies and even insurance companies have developed and or endorsed some form of weight loss, and lately, weight loss with the assistance of a prescription medication.

Medical authorities are careful to clarify that these new prescription weight loss medications are not for cosmetic weight loss; they are to be used for people suffering from obesity or otherwise at risk to secondary diseases because of their weight. For cosmetic weight loss, that is, weight loss that is of a relatively minor amount and not because of looming health complications from the extra weight, the best plan is still a healthy diet and exercise. The new prescription medications, according to the National Institute of Health and the FDA, should never be used by or prescribed to people who are not clinically obese.

If you are in need of medical assistance for weight loss issues, PharmMall offers free medical consultations for each private and confidential order. Here is another site that may offer more information or to place an order. http://phentermine. lunarpages. net/index. html (http://phentermine. lunarpages. net/index. html)
