I recently reviewed the Starlight Support Supreme All Foam Crib Mattress, from Moonlight Slumber. I found it to be by far the greatest I have seen in the crib mattress line.
Our babies need as much or more support in a mattress than we as adults do, because their bones are very soft and pliable for the first stages. The Starlight Support Supreme Crib Mattress offers two levels of firmness. Turning it over is all it takes to adjust it to your baby's needs. There is an extra firm side for your infant. Then as your baby grows older (9+ months), you simply turn the mattress over and have an ultra supportive, yet ultra comfortable layer of memory foam over the firm mattress.
The memory foam is known as Viscoelastic foam, originally created by NASA. You have most likely heard of this being offered in adult mattresses as of late. It has been the desire of many adults and now can be the delight of infants as well. Viscoelastic foam conforms to the childÂ’s body, and supports their growing bones and joints, keeping their spine in perfect alignment.
I like the shape and size of this mattress. It has solid squared corners instead of the rounded ones usually found in a crib mattress. It is also the perfect size to be snug in place on all four sides. This makes for a perfect fit within the crib, not leaving open areas for things to fall through and makes it that much safer for baby. Still easy to lift for changing sheets, etc. but snug enough one has no worries.
Another great feature is that it's completely antimicrobial and has been treated on the inside as well as the outside, to eliminate the worry of bacteria growth for the life of the mattress.
It offers welded seams which means there are no needle holes in the mattress, preventing dust mites and germs from entering. Now there will be no need to say "Don't let the bed bugs bite", because there will be no bed bugs (dust mites) to be concerned with.
The premium four-way stretch ticking eliminates the need for a mattress cover, which also attract dust mites. This feature also keeps it stain resistant, waterproof, and completely antiallergenic, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic. Simply wipe it clean with a damp sponge or cloth and it will be as good as new. Last but not least it makes it crack resistant, so it wears well instead of wearing out and helps the mattress to warm under the baby, making for a warm and cuddly nights sleep.
The Starlight Support Supreme Mattress has an internal Fire Barrier which makes it resistant to open flames. Their complete mattress line exceeds all current and planned Federal standards for fire safety and meets Cal. TB603.
