The devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina should not be taken lightly. Homes, families and businesses were destroyed. While many companies are taking measures to restore their establishments, it may take a while for medical providers to reorganize.
In order to continue practicing medicine, doctors, hospitals, clinics and medical centers must look to rebuilding their businesses by building a sound, steady patient base and perhaps establishing relationships with managed care organizations in other states.
Rebuilding for some medical providers may involve creation of a medical records system, creating fee schedules, performing human resource management tasks and, setting up a comprehensive medical billing system to ensure proper reimbursement for services rendered. The tasks listed are just the beginning. There is the responsibility of purchasing equipment, office furniture and supplies, setting up phone systems and internet services.
Coalition of Healthcare Administrative Management Professionals (CHAMPS) announced on Friday, October 21, that they are prepared to assist providers affected by Hurricane Katrina. A special team has been formed to service the providers throughout the United States.
“In the wake of the devastation, communities must have access to care during and after cleanup and restructuring activities,” Viola R Robinson, CHAMPS’ VP of Network Marketing stated. “Although public health officials are primary in attempting to control the spread of disease, even more emphasis should be placed on the reorganization of those medical providers on an administrative level. This will ensure continued access to care and the flow of funds into the communities to help in reconstruction overall.”
CHAMPS provides administrative services to the medical providers of the health care industry throughout the United States. CHAMPS’ members specialize in medical billing, collections management, practice management, medical transcription, consulting, credentialing, managed care contracting, coding, business plan development, human resource management and website design.
CHAMPS recognize the many administrative needs of physicians and other health care professionals nationwide and strive to offer reputable, professional, and excellent services to health care providers in the industry. “Our vision is to grow in knowledge and experience as an organization to assist healthcare providers in achieving their goals and objectives,” Robinson commented.
For more information, providers should contact CHAMPS via telephone (800-594-1016) or, by visiting CHAMPS’ website www. champsnetwork. com.
Special pricing arrangements have been designed for those Katrina affected providers. CHAMPS will donate 10% of its proceeds earned toward families affected by Hurricane Katrina.
